681  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Suggest me a secure and open-source hardware wallet. on: November 07, 2023, 08:33:06 PM
Currently, I have been using Ledger X. We know Ledger is a trusted hardware wallet manufacturer. But lately I don't have enough faith in Ledger when it's a matter of storing a large amount. I am not saying Ledger isn't trusted due to my faith. Its just my personal feel about Ledger due to its closed source. More importantly, their backup service is one of the worst things in crypto, though it's not mandatory. Backup our seed with a third party for a hardware wallet won't make it secure anymore.

So here is my concern: I want to move to a new secure, smart, and open-source hardware wallet. And I want to know about the secure chip used by Ledger. Lately, even Trezor started using Secure Chip. So with a secure chip, can we trust that the wallet is safe and doesn't have a chance of being drained by the manufacturer?

I need a multi-currency hardware wallet that is secure, smart, and open-source, price really doesn't matter. One of my choices is Keystone due to their wallet design, especially the fingerprint system. But it seems they used three secure chips, and I am not much aware of whether the manufacturer can drain wallets somehow through the secure chips.

Please suggest details and why you think I should buy this. Please don't send the list to compare wallet, just suggest best one.
682  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Solves This - Money and Banking on: November 06, 2023, 08:35:39 PM
The most common reasons to love Bitcoin are decentralisation and financial freedom. We can call ourselves our own bank when we are holding Bitcoin in our non-custodial wallet. Because we can spend our assets wherever we want, no one will ask any questions about our spending. When we want to withdraw a large amount or receive large amounts from our bank, they ask many questions, even though it's our own money. I know banks have a few obligations from the government, but that's always what I hate. Here is what Bitcoin stands for: we can receive any amount worldwide without any third party and without question. For that, we must be financially established. Otherwise, high volatility will hurt Bitcoin holders.
683  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tricky situation for Altcoin investment on: November 06, 2023, 07:49:53 PM
What I have seen so far is that newbies are afraid to accumulate when the price of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies is down. For example, a few months ago, Bitcoin was around $15K, and many of us were afraid to accumulate. But now many people are asking if it is the right time to invest or not. So I think this is the first common mistake newbies have been making. Secondly, they can't choose the right coin at the right time. It's true that altcoin gives us a couple of X during a bull run, but it's not applicable to every coin. It could dump a couple of X as well. In this case, Bitcoin is more secure; it would not suddenly drop 2x. So I can say that a Bitcoin investment is less risky, though with lower profits. We shouldn't divert our minds with the excuse that Bitcoin is already high and move to altcoins. Just remember the ATH of Bitcoin.
684  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What's your thoughts about potential newly borned coins during the bear market? on: November 06, 2023, 07:39:14 PM
The topic title already expresses the theme of the post, but I will try to write in detail. Technically, we are in a bull market, though we don't know if it is real or fake. But we noticed a few newly born altcoins during the last bear season that have potential growth. A few altcoins also gained enough popularity from the crypto community. For example, we can say ARB and PEPE. Both coins haven't met with the bull market previously since they were newly minted. What's your thoughts about these types of coins that were borne during the last bear market? I feel these types of coins would give us a good return during a real bull run. Because all of them have never met a bull and are ready to grow. But we have to make sure of its popularity and potential. Those coins are listed on the biggest exchanges; we may consider them to accumulate. Otherwise, it's quite risky to make money.

Let us know if you have a few names for those borne during bear but potential to grow.

For me, it is advisable to invest but not take financial advice.
1. ARB
2. PEPE
685  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins that are good for long hodling in this season. on: November 06, 2023, 07:27:08 PM
Investing in Binance Coin (BNB) is pretty high-risk right now. Because the SEC filed a case against BNB. We don't know what the upcoming result is; hence, I don't feel it's good to invest right now. But Ethereum has the potential to grow. There is still no issue regarding Ethereum lately, so it's less risky for long-term holding. I am one of the ETH holders, and I have been out of the BNB for some time. I will monitor the market before taking entry on BNB. Likely a small amount I can risk on BNB. I will prefer those coins that were born during the bear but have potential and would be great for investment. In this case, ARB, one of the popular coins, has potential. It might give a good return during the bull run. Because it was newly born during the bear market and hasn't met with any bull markets yet.
686  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I’ve bought 100 BTC in 2011. Need help to find them for rewards. on: November 05, 2023, 09:48:44 PM
Rewards don't matter, but I wish you to recover your assets. First, try to convince your bank about your statement, where you may find the data where you bought the bitcoin. And we aren't sure if the exchange where you bought your bitcoin still exists. Search Google to see which exchanges were active during your purchase year and try to login. Use the forget password everywhere, and you may get mail. Without a proper clue, it's impossible to recover your bitcoin.
687  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi Im very newbie on: November 05, 2023, 09:40:36 PM
I am afraid you joined this forum to earn money, and your first thread indicated this. You are wondering about earning from the future trading so easily and dreaming of being rich over the night. I just don't believe any trading signal group and don't want to pay a penny for their subscription. It's just eyewashing and earning nothing. Don't forget that Telegram is a safe haven for scammers. They will scam you, and you will get nothing. Since you joined the forum, I will advise you to spend more time here for learning purposes. So you can learn about trading as well. Without acquiring the proper knowledge, you may lose your whole portfolio. So just be very careful.
688  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Anyone been using Pyypl? It seems a potential virtual card can use crypto as wel on: November 05, 2023, 09:22:27 PM
Meanwhile, has any of you folks who registered for Pyypl received this notification from the app?

I haven't used the service for some weeks and have no money in there at the moment but last time i used it, everything was smooth.
Nothing to worry about, actually. For a few days, they have been notifying users about their system upgrade. So the card is not working properly, but other services are working fine. I made international transactions two days ago, and it went smoothly, though there were notices about system upgrades. Their support system is very poor right now. It shouldn't take too long to upgrade the system. A lot of users use this card for various subscriptions, and they might face problems due to their upgrades. They should be more professional and faster. Otherwise, they would lose popularity.
689  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Revolut bitcoin deposit on: November 05, 2023, 09:12:11 PM
So here's a funny update about this whole situation:

The individual I sent the funds never followed the "verification process" but received a notification on the 3rd of November (a month from the deposit) that his funds were available, and he managed to sell them and transfer them to fiat.

Nice to hear it got resolved. So the problem was a verification issue. When I was reading the replies, I assumed something like this. Because it is a custodial service and may require a verification process. However, I am not familiar with Revolution, though it sounds familiar to me. I've never used it or don't know what its purpose is. It's funny, took one month to credit deposit amounts.
690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Using TV( GOTV, DSTV) monthly subscription money to invest in bitcoin on: November 05, 2023, 09:02:35 PM
For almost 5 years, I haven't had any TV connection. Using smart TV through the Internet is better; I don't need to pay any extra TV subscription bills. Because almost everything is available on the Internet and most of our local channels have online broadcasts, For kids, there are a lot of YouTube cartoons, which is enough for them. I don't have much time to watch TV or use my mobile to watch movies, etc. during free time. So I think your decision to invest in Bitcoin instead of a TV subscription is more appropriate.
691  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: fudster guy saying bitcoin is not viable because there are too few available on: November 05, 2023, 08:51:53 PM
I am really not getting what exactly the OP wants to express. What's the real concern here? Is it about total supply, or are you worried that total market capital would surpass total USD? Anyway, don't mix the Bitcoin unit with the USD; nothing is conflicting here. You can always buy a unit of bitcoin. It doesn't matter what the price is or what the supply is. It's open to everyone. I will advise you to be more specific when you are writing a post. So it will help you get the perfect answers.
692  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does a rotation of a DCA HODLing account wallet, guarantee safety from hackers? on: November 05, 2023, 08:40:57 PM
I am not sure what rotation means. Whales are not careless like us. They know very well how they should secure their funds. It's important for every crypto user to secure funds in a safe wallet. It doesn't matter if the crypto is accumulated by the dollar-cost averaging (DCA) strategy or any other way. It doesn't make any difference when the question is: secure your funds. Just accumulate and move the funds into a cold wallet. This isn't a hard task nowadays, even for small investors like me. A hardware wallet doesn't cost much compared to how it secures your funds.
693  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Massive rise on bitcoin price, Is this a bullish Sign or ETF hype? on: November 04, 2023, 09:36:24 PM
We have seen the current market start pumping after ETF rumours. So we can say this pump is for an upcoming ETF, and if SEC delays again, we will see another dump. Upcoming Bitcoin halving and ETF approval together could move the market bullish. I don't see any other reason for the bull market lately. We need fresh and new buyers to see a real bull market.
694  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Open source multi crypto wallets! on: November 04, 2023, 09:08:49 PM
I am not sure, but TrustWallet seems to claim to be an open-source, non-custodial wallet that supports multiple cryptocurrencies. I am not aware of these two wallets you mentioned in the post. Currently, I don't feel safe with wallet software when the question is storing large amounts. I think we have to practice using a hardware wallet to store our funds. Otherwise, keep using an existing trusted non-custodial wallet instead of choosing a new one that we are unaware of. Hardware wallets don't cost too much lately since a lot of companies have launched hardware wallets.
695  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What exactly is mainly stored on a hardware wallet? on: November 04, 2023, 08:54:47 PM
Hardware wallets have a specific feature for entering device pin/asswords. Passwords/pin protect your device from thieves', but they're not to protect your funds. Because funds are protected by devices or seed phrases, So why should you keep the device and seed phrase together at home? The device should be reset for attempts with the wrong pin/passwords. I am using Ledger, so I have experience with that. I'm not sure how other wallet passwords work. You need a password and a device to sign a transaction. Otherwise, you need to input your seed phrase into any other wallet that supports your seed phrase categories. I can't find anything wrong here. Can you be more specific about what is on your mind? How do you want to protect your fun :'(ds?
696  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 93 Percent of all Bitcoin Has Been Mined on: November 04, 2023, 08:40:19 PM
The time of mining the last bitcoin will be exciting for the Bitcoin community. I am sure no one will exist from the forum where we are active now. New people will join, and they will enjoy the moment. I am really missing the event. However, we don't know if Bitcoin will exist until then or if it will destroy everything in a third world war. Or there may be something new and interesting with advanced technologies. But from my current position, I can say that Bitcoin investment will be the right choice for our next generation. Though we aren't realising it now, like 10 years ago, no one realised Bitcoin would reach that position. Actually, these are historical and technical statements, not emotional ones.

698  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you rather make your investments in FIAT or CRYPTO? on: November 04, 2023, 08:12:54 PM
As we know, Bitcointalk is a cryptocurrency forum, and members of this forum are cryptocurrency enthusiasts. So as usual, the answers will be on behalf of cryptocurrency. As a crypto lover, I feel cryptocurrency investments are better than offline investments. Though cryptocurrency investments are highly risky and not for everyone, the ROI is also very high. Before making a cryptocurrency investment decision, you have to consider a lot of things. You shouldn't jump into cryptocurrency investments without knowing them very well. Otherwise, you may become poor instead of rich. So it's a matter of timing and learning. We have to enter at the perfect time, and at the same time, we have to leave on time. Before making cryptocurrency investments, we have to develop our skills and knowledge.
699  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if the second Satoshi appears? on: November 04, 2023, 08:04:23 PM
Can I ask why you are creating multiple threads on the same topic? After that, you created this thread, which is almost the same: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5472843.msg63104804#msg63104804

Why are you concerned about the new cryptocurrency? There are a lot of altcoins, and I don't see anything to worry about. It's a normal procedure that something always comes new, and individuals don't welcome everything. Just look at the market and see how many coins exist and how the community has welcomed them. I don't ignore the possibility of a new advanced virtual currency, but that doesn't mean Bitcoin will not exist.

700  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what if bitcoin becomes inferior on: November 04, 2023, 07:37:04 PM
Bitcoin is the mother of cryptocurrency, so any other coins, even those advanced from Bitcoin, will still be an altcoin. I am talking about those creating virtual currency using cryptography. So technically, any cryptographic altcoin won't surpass or destroy Bitcoin due to the nature of cryptographic blockchain technology. But I admit there would be a new virtual currency with some other latest technologies instead of cryptography and blockchain. It doesn't mean a new virtual currency would replace Bitcoin. Both would exist on their own platforms. Both would be welcomed by digital currency users. For example, you are using Bitcoin, but you can't ignore PayPal or other digital fiat currencies. All of them exist on their own platform, which we continue to use. MFS (Mobile Financial Services) is performing well when the traditional banking system still exists.
