681  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is still the favorite choice on: July 06, 2021, 01:02:39 PM
Yes, this is because bitcoin is till the favourite one , the main issue is that no currency ever is going to decrease or increase like that and it has the ability to make you a billionaire and give huge benefit in less time, that's why it is still the favorite.

I am not sure whether this is true anymore. Bitcoin has already attained an ATH of $62,000 this year. How much further it can go up? The total global wealth is around $400 trillion right now, and the market cap of gold is around $12 trillion. I would assume that the maximum possible appreciation for BTC it up to the market cap of gold in the next 5 to 10 years. That means a 20x increase from the current levels. A 20x increase in you assets, within the next 10 years is going to make you a billionaire? I don't think that is the case with the vast majority of the investors. They may become rich, but definitely not millionaires or billionaires (unless you already own a few hundred coins).
682  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: July 06, 2021, 07:44:10 AM
The West Indies and Sri Lanka teams have had a very bad time now.
There is a major difference in the performance of West Indies and Sri Lanka, the matches between South Africa and West Indies were really close and even though West Indies had big names they lost a couple of close matches but they won against South Africa but on the other hand Sri Lanka is struggling to score runs and the only match that had no result was the only game they did not loose in this series and that too because of the weather condition  Cheesy.

Sri Lanka is beyond redemption now. If we take the list of top-50 players in international cricket, I am sure that there will not be a single player from Sri Lanka in that list. Afghanistan will have players like Rashid Khan and Ireland will have at least Paul Stirling. But Sri Lanka will not be having anyone among the top-50. I think Angelo Mathews was the last player of international quality to represent Sri Lanka, but unfortunately he is also nearing his retirement now (he is 35 years and was not a part of the squad that toured England).
683  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lightning Network -- Is it GOOD? on: July 06, 2021, 07:29:35 AM
As such I don't have anything against the Lightning Network. But even with 4.5 years of experience in the field of cryptocurrency, I found it really hard to operate. That said, I would agree that the Lightning Network is an awesome innovation, as it enables users to send their coins with minimal fees, and get instant confirmations. But user friendliness also matters. No matter how much advanced an innovation is, as long as ordinary people can't use it, for me it is worthless. Setting up payment channels and all can be quite hard.
684  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin high fees on: July 06, 2021, 07:14:53 AM
@capn and @hardiksoni966 ^^^ I doubt you made any transactions recently, if so you will not be having these doubts Roll Eyes, in which wallet you gave $24 and $31 as transaction fees and why would do give them when the fees is 3 sat/vB and you will get a confirmation within an hour and i am making transactions for a month with low fees and it is getting confirmed within no time.

I agree. For the last 1-2 months, we never had a scenario where the Bitcoin fee went higher than 80 Sat/Byte. The average fee was in the range of 4 to 20 Sat Byte, which corresponds to $0.50-$2.00 for a medium sized transaction. The fee they have mentioned is 10x this amount. Either their coins consisted of a large number of small outputs (which pushes up the size of the transaction in KBs, or they had used a wallet which wrongly calculated the fee). Unless the details are provided, it is almost impossible to find out the reason.

Or have they incorrectly typed $ instead of Sat?
685  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: July 06, 2021, 07:00:09 AM
Hahaha. As the Sri Lankan players are doing now, I am quite confident that they will lose the series against India's second-string team. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't win a single match. India's second-tier team is much better and more experienced than the Sri Lankan national team. Before Ranatunga makes such remarks in the media, he should strengthen his teams and make arrangements to respond harshly to India's insults.

The team that was sent by the BCCI to Sri Lanka includes players such as Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Hardik Pandya, Sanju Samson, Yuzvendra Chahal and Krunal Pandya. I don't know how Ranatunga can label this term as "second string". Is it mandatory that the Indian team should consist of players like Virat Kohli and Mohammad Shami everytime? The SLCB has responded to Ranatunga's claims and they have announced that they are satisfied with the Indian squad. So if the SLCB doesn't have an issue, why Ranatunga is making so much noise?
686  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: July 06, 2021, 06:48:06 AM
The big day is here finally,it is Italy vs Spain tonight. This is a game which can be considered a premature final game as this could have been the final. No real favorite here as both teams are strong enough and both have enough experience to come out as winners from this game.I will make sure to watch this game drinking some beer with friends tonight as one thing is sure,it will be a lot of fun for all soccer fans.

The timing is not convenient for me, as I am residing in India. The match is scheduled at 12:30am - 2:30am. I can't skip such an exciting match, but I have a very important meeting tomorrow at 9 am. Already my work schedule is getting affected because of this tournament.  Grin

Jokes apart, I will go with Italy for today's match. Spain is the same team which conceded two draws in their two opening matches. In none of their matches, they looked 100% convincing. Italy on the other hand, managed to beat the no.1 side in the world as per FIFA rankings (Belgium). The Italian squad of 2021 can't be compared to the squad from 2006. But they have come a long way from 2018, when they failed to qualify for the world cup.
687  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid virus 2021 on: July 05, 2021, 05:42:25 PM
This is difficult to achieve, many people are already fed up with this situation. they really miss the pre-pandemic situation. I hope this vaccination can stop this pandemic as soon as possible.

The vaccination program was started almost a year ago. And do you know how many people have got fully vaccinated till now? Less than 1/8th of the world population has been fully vaccinated against COVID (and more than half of that number with the less effective Chinese vaccines). Even in countries with a vaccination rate of >50%, we are witnessing a surge in terms of new infections. Examples are Mongolia, Chile and Turkey are perfect examples. I don't know why people are still preferring the less effective vaccines over Pfizer and Moderna.
688  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it good to allow Black Money to be whiten by investing in Stock? on: July 05, 2021, 05:18:36 PM
That is the case about finances in the crime world, the government wants their piece and without that you are basically doing something illegal by going against the government, but when you are giving them a choice to take your money then your crimes become "white crimes" as well.

Just to give an example the amount of salary that should be paid to people for working outside of their legal time comes down to about 50+ billion dollars a year, so collectively business all over the world make people work 50+ billion dollars worth extra time without pay, does that get a penalty? Absolutely not, because those companies pay their taxes and bribe their politicians.

Same goes for drug dealers and mafia as well, pay the politicians their bribes, and launder your money however you want without worrying about anything. This means either do none of it, or do all of it because allowing one but disallowing the other makes no sense.

Being a resident of India, I need to say that when the government announced the amnesty program a few years ago, the largest volumes of unaccounted money was reported from some of the individuals who are regarded as proxies of known politicians. Some of the news papers reported that more than 50% of the converted funds were owned (either directly or indirectly) by the politicians. I agree with your point as well. Legalizing one form of crime and banning another form doesn't make sense. But in general, it has been claimed that these sort of amnesties encourage more crime and corruption.
689  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: July 05, 2021, 04:49:34 PM
^^^ I don't know whether Rahul Dravid will find acceptance with Virat Kohli & Co. Someone like Ravi Shastri is perfect for Kohli. A soft-spoken and mild natured individual such as Dravid may find it tough to coach the current Indian team. BTW, India has already qualified for the 2023 World Cup, so they don't have to worry much about getting the points. Also, India is scheduled to play ODI series against weak teams such as Zimbabwe and Afghanistan during this cycle. It should be relatively easy for them to finish among the top 8.
690  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it good to allow Black Money to be whiten by investing in Stock? on: July 05, 2021, 11:08:38 AM
Of course it has a bad impact, laundering the money successfully means that the lives that was harmed or taken making those money will not see justice because the money got cleaned with all it's blood like no one was hurt. Laundering is never a good thing because it makes life unfair because they don't pay their dues to the community through taxes and fighting to survive fairly.

I agree these points, to some extent. It is true that money laundering mostly results from corruption and other illegal activities (including crime). When the government is announcing amnesty, in effect it is making sure that the perpetrators of these crimes will be never brought to justice. But at some point of time, a balance needs to be made. The crimes were committed many years ago. If the amnesty is not there, then the funds will remain stuck, or they will flow out of the country. There are two benefits from the amnesty - the government will receive a large fraction of the funds as penalty, and the removing amount will be injected back in to the legal economy.
691  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: July 05, 2021, 10:48:06 AM
Indian team got good mixture of international experience and IPL talent. Players like Dhawan, Chahal, Bhuvi, Yadav, Hardik , Pandey Ji got enough experience under their belt and on the other hand SYK, Prithvi, Paddikal, Gaikwad, Rana, Samson etc already proved themselves in IPL countless times. So chances are high of Indian team winning the series but cricket is game of uncertainty and Sri Lankans got 4-5 good players who can turn things around at home conditions.

The way i look at it both team has enough to gain with this series if they came out as victorious. From Indian point of view, new crop of players would get decent amount of experience, which is necessary and from Sri Lankan's point of view, well they already hit rock bottom of transition so they can only go up from here.

For the younger Indian players, this is one of the rare opportunities to catch the attention of national team selectors ahead of the T20 World Cup in October. Therefore I don't think that they will be complacent. And the implementation of ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League means that every match is important now. There is no such thing as a "dead rubber". If Sri Lanka loses the series 0-3, then any chance of finishing within the top 8 will be very small. And now coming to the future prospects of Sri Lanka, I don't have much hope unless they change their Colombo-centric setup.
692  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin high fees on: July 05, 2021, 07:42:20 AM
Excluding the obvious which have been mentioned by others, of exchanges having their fixed withdraw fees. We still have deposit coming into the exchange with priority fees (high fees) for sole purpose of purchasing newly listed altcoins.

If I'm not mistaken coins are been listed daily on this centralized exchanges and this newly listed tokens get interest from speculators which have to deposit to trade, assuming they don't have funds already on the exchanges and this deposits has to be processed in the quickest time possible to be among the first buyers to increase their chances of profiting.

Also lets not forget most of the wallet have a default fixed withdrawal fees that you'll have to adjust the fees to not over priced your transaction but many are yet to know this and just go with the default charges the wallet recommend.

I understand that sometimes the users need to deposit their coins in a hurry and can't wait to make use of the purchasing opportunity. But I would recommend to always keep a small amount of BTC in the exchange wallets. So when a new altcoin is listed, you don't have to run around to make the arrangements. I know that very few people would like to store their BTC in exchange wallets, but you can decide on the amount in this case, and withdraw the coins, if you think that the exchange is in trouble.
693  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Not list token any exchange but sell? on: July 05, 2021, 07:24:05 AM
I want to know some information about bounty tokens here. What I want to know is - if a bounty sends me some of their tokens to wallet as payment, but the token is not an exchange list. I want to sell this token. ICO rate is given. In that case, can I exchange the token in the market? If there is any such information, I want to know. If there is, I want to learn the system. Give me information about this.

It may still be possible to sell these coins using various DEX platforms. But don't expect the ICO rates when you sell them. I faced this issue back in 2018 and 2019, when I was still participating in the bounty campaigns. On average, I got only around 5% to 10% of the ICO price when I sold these tokens using platforms such as Idex and Forkdelta. Another issue is with the liquidity. There may not be enough buyers available, so that you can dump them. If only one or two of them are present, then they can manipulate the rates and place their orders at a level which is much below the prevailing market rate.
694  Economy / Economics / Re: Becoming wealthy and social responsibility on: July 05, 2021, 07:02:15 AM
Social responsibility is equal for everyone, irrespective of whether they are rich or poor. The rich are already taking a disproportionate level of such responsibility, by paying a higher amount of tax. And now the world is moving towards a high tax regimen, with successful people being taxed more and more and the unproductive population getting ever increasing amounts of handouts and welfare benefits at the same time. The former USSR had a law against "social parasites", i.e the unproductive people who refuse to work and live off handouts. But times have changed and politicians like Biden would just shower cash handouts on such people, if they can produce a dozen children each.
695  Economy / Economics / Re: “You don’t spend money now, you can’t spend after you died” on: July 05, 2021, 06:50:28 AM
I myself have asked this question over and over again:

Are these people who make hodl aware that life is short and that money is for buying things and living life?

what's the point of just doing hodl and in the end dying without using the money?

Average human expectancy is around 80 years as of now. So there is no issue in waiting for a few years, in order to get good returns. And especially with cryptocurrency, all of us know that it is currently underpriced and in the future there is a great chance that the prices may go up by 10x or even 25x. Those who want to enjoy their life can sell their holdings for fiat even now. But remember what happened to those who sold their coins previously. Without any exception, all of them are regretting about their decision. Want to join them? Personally I don't have any issue with that, since it is your money.
696  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: After China, Now it's Mexico's Turn to Ban Crypto on: July 05, 2021, 06:17:09 AM
I believe that, that move by the Mexican Government was a power play. In El Salvador, It was the Government that took that decision to make Bitcoin a legal tender and not just one Billionaire that owns a Bank. So I believe that the government is saying if anything like that is going to happen, that will be from them the Government not from an Individual. Eventually, if Mexico is still going to adopt Bitcoin, that will be from the Government itself.

The officials are just pissed, because the billionaire mentioned here (Ricardo Salinas Pliego) announced that his bank (Banco Azteca) will start accepting cryptocurrency, before they got permission to do so from the government. As far as I know, Bitcoin remains fully legal in Mexico. But banks can't deal with any currency other than the Mexican peso. In El Salvador, things were different as they don't even have a national currency (the Salvadoran Colón exists only in history books) and the US Dollar was widely used by the population.
697  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I kept receiving strange TRC10 tokens in my Trust Wallet, should i be worried? on: July 05, 2021, 06:05:41 AM
Well... token spamming is a well known issue in the cryptocurrency sector. While I was participating in various bounty campaigns during 2017-18, I might have received around two dozen different tokens from these campaigns. But I received at least 50-60 spam tokens in my wallet during this period (almost all of them are completely worthless). The spammers farm ERC-20 and TRC-20 wallet addresses from the spreadsheets and then send their spam (i.e promotional) tokens to these addresses. I mostly ignore them. But after a while, it gets difficult to search for the good tokens.
698  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: You got a pifzer ? Then you can be eligible for lottery in Poland. on: July 05, 2021, 05:53:47 AM
Wait !!! Specifically pfizer ? so meaning poland don't use other vaccine than this?

no wonder why they are luring little amount of interested people because pfizer has a lot of issue and side effects compared to other vaccines.

Being a member of the European Union, Poland can use only the vaccines that are approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA). That rules out the Chinese and Russian vaccines. And among the remaining vaccines, Pfizer is the only one that is available in sufficient quantities. The other EMA-approved vaccines (Moderna, Janssen, AstraZeneca.etc) are all struggling with supply issues. Poland has used all these four vaccines for their program, but from what I have heard Pfizer accounts for the vast majority of the total.
699  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fully vaccinated individuals now spared of masks in the casinos in Vegas on: July 05, 2021, 05:14:40 AM
What can you say about those who have had mild or even asymptomatic covid? How did this happen? I think it's due to natural immunity. As you know, most of the victims had a weakened immune system due to various chronic diseases. Therefore, relying on natural immunity if you are generally healthy is quite reasonable.

The mild and asymptomatic cases are rare now. Most of the new infections result from the mutant strain, and in almost all the cases the patients need hospitalization. Here in India, the death rate from Delta variant was calculated at 7% in one of the cities (and that too may be an undercount). For the original strain, the death rate was less than 1%. And the vast majority of those who died from Delta were those aged less than 45 years. It may still be possible for healthy young adults to rely on natural immunity. But there is a big risk of the infection getting worse if you don't seek treatment on time.
700  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 04, 2021, 06:26:48 PM
They made a schedule and that is better for the players who are only playing the domestic matches as most of the players do not even get a chance to play the IPL, so if there is a schedule they will be compensated even if there is a delay in matches.
The virus is mutating faster than expected so it is difficult to predict what the situation would be in the next two months, if the government does not prepare themselves then we will see another catastrophe .

I am not sure about this. As far as I know, if the tournament is cancelled, then the players don't get their match fees (this happened in 2020, when some of the domestic tournaments were announced and later cancelled). Also, if the matches doesn't take place, the match fees can't be distributed. Because the BCCI will have no information on who would have been included in the playing XI. Unless they have that information, how can they distribute the match fee? They paid a small amount as compensation in 2020, but the players complained that this was only a small fraction of the salary they would have earned if the tournaments were conducted.
