701  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't be greedy – a short goose story on: January 15, 2023, 11:27:06 PM
Greed is not only a bad thing in crypto it's also in some religious groups, it's also known as a part of a"seven deadly sin" or a "cardinal sin".
That's an old but good story and AFAIR when I was a child, it's on the TV series that I always watched.

The same story in our real life, greed will put us in the worst position if we didn't think about it first before taking an action.
In crypto, we should think that investing is good for a long-term process not only for short-term purposes.  I believed investing in altcoins or those coins that under the pump and dump is being greedy which someday will put your fund at high risk and it could be lost without knowing you.
702  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: I lost my BTC form electrum wallet on: January 14, 2023, 11:59:24 PM
So what is the version of Electrum that you've used?

I tend to agree above, it could be your computer now was infected by the malware virus, and this is pretty common now if you're a target by the scammer.
So don't you dare to save your private key to your computer or in any as long as can't be accessible online, like an email address or cloud storage?

Is there a message pop-up when you opened the Electrum app?

Always verify the app upon downloading it through PGP as suggested above, so the best thing that you can do now is to create another one that is safe, or better to buy a hardware wallet for less worry.
703  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Beginner question about transaction fee on: January 14, 2023, 11:45:54 PM
Right now I can see that Ethereum has fee is very high and it's annoying, I thought after the Ethereum upgrade the gas will be lower? Ethereum is at 1500$ imagine what will happen at 10,000$ per Ethereum.
Once a network experience heavy traffic or a very congested network, it is expected that there will be a high fee and slow transaction because there's always prioritization of miners.

Main Question

Assuming I hold 0.001 ETH mainly for a gas fee only and the value was 0.56$ then price surge up, is the increment going to be on the Sats? E.g ( 0.002 ETH ) or the increment is going to be on the value? E.g 0.001 ETH = 1.06$?
Sats?  We're not talking about Bitcoin, they're totally different from the Ethereum network.
It's (WEI) a denomination of ETH.

Yes, it's the value that the fee always matters.
For a better understanding read this how transactions of Ethereum work and what is GAS.

704  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there restriction in purchase of bitcoin? on: January 14, 2023, 11:28:57 PM
Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies has a limit of their total volume supply in the market. Like bitcoin, according to Bitcoin Supply - YCharts is at current level of 19.26million total bitcoin supply.

I’m inquisitive to know if there’s any possibility that a person can’t purchase bitcoin anywhere because all the people holding the total supply of bitcoin are not willing to sell but hold them, maybe for some reasons known to them or possible pump they’re expecting before selling it.
This is unlikely happen, though there's a small chance that might be happened if there are no altcoins around.
When the supply keeps reducing the price also keeps increasing, so might people will hard to accumulate in the future and those who hold now that has a targeted profit will also sell their Bitcoin, so it's called trading and that's how the market works now, besides from Bitcoin there are too many alternatives that people might choose.

That's why Bitcoin was created for the main purpose of electronic payment system, not storing value.
705  Other / Meta / Re: is it normal on: January 12, 2023, 11:59:27 PM
is it normal to getting some post deleted like

I posted in quote to the other post (thanks)
and my post is deleted on this forum is it normal to get post deleted in quoting thanks or something small words
You're not alone, most members here in the forum experience the same as you've experienced now.  (even me)
But this mistake is put in your mind not to repeat again in the future knowing it's offensive in the forum based on the Forum Rules.

What problem should I've to face if the moderator deletes many of my posts?
I didn't see banning yet here (that has a big chance) but your post count and activity might reduce as pointed out above.
But I saw a DT member tagging your profile as a spammer once you've reached 50 posts deleted from the moderator which is also found on the Bpip.org.
706  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: One of the things that make people to make good content in posting on: January 12, 2023, 11:54:24 PM
Don't focus on merit, and it'll come. Focus on merit, and you'll be outed for writing for the sake of merit. While the latter doesn't mean you're a bad user, not by any means. A lot of other users here will see that as a negative thing, and sort of boycott you because of it. Just contribute here like you normally would, but just make sure it's of good quality. If you don't add much to the discussion, don't post. If you do add something to the discussion, given enough time you'll get your merit.

Merit isn't everything though.
It's very simple but it's well said.
This advice I always voice out to those newbies who always ask how to gain merit and how to have a quality post.  Just contribute and be on topic, merit will come without knowing you and most important thing is, don't interact on a topic that you don't know, because it will create spam if you'll force yourself.
I've witnessed users here has been accused of copy-pasting from the article to farm merit which becomes a wrong insight from others, just post normally based on what you know and take time to research upon posting to have a reliable source of your answer.

Hit the "Preview" button first before posting and you'll see your post if it's contributed or not.
707  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware Wallets that work with Smartphones? on: January 12, 2023, 10:54:36 PM
Trezor can work on a phone via micro USB -> USB-C with trezor suite (web) and mycelium.
In addition, the Keepkey hardware wallet can open through mycelium using a smartphone using micro USB.
Here's a Youtube video tutorial on that.

It's an interesting list, please update and I'll open my eyes on this thread as I'm willing to know what are those hardware wallets, AFAIK, the only common hardware wallets that I've known that can be used in mobile phones like Trezor and Ledger.
708  Economy / Speculation / Re: Starting to Think The Bottom May Be Close? on: January 10, 2023, 11:59:32 PM
This leads me to the question... so I need to start accumulating more heavily? LOL
If you can of course, it's not too late yet, you can possibly make a profit if you're willing to wait for it.
I read a lot of questions the same as you ask if it's the perfect time to invest, my answer is yes, and how much you can afford to wait?

FUDs continue spreading because of the recent news of a centralized exchange collapsing, that's why the Bitcoin price movement remains struggling at this moment because a lot of people learned from past mistakes.  Though it's unpredictable sometimes the price always matters on what happening outside or even manipulation like social media spreading the worst news about crypto.
709  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't be fool! on: January 10, 2023, 11:20:51 PM

I prefer to ignore these people & invest in cryptocurrencies, specifically bitcoin.

Ignoring them is the better part and turning daff eyes is the best part. We are going to keep hearing pessimistics criticising  bitcoin and discouraging some small minds from investing and taking the opportunity that bitcoin is for. Apart from the possibility of investment, bitcoin is the freedom for human existence.
Because supposedly, Bitcoin isn't created to store value, it was created with the sole purpose to become a peer-to-peer payment transaction which is in short, an alternative to cash.  Those who didn't understand how Bitcoin will work might the ones who will discriminate against Bitcoin.  They dont want transparent transactions because they're always afraid of it, that's how sometimes we think there's corruption that happens.

Educating yourself in the entire cryptosystem will enlighten your mind about Bitcoin, this is your greatest weapon not to believe those who are discriminating against Bitcoin.  Ignoring them isn't right, what if they have a chance to take your advice very seriously on how to use the Bitcoin network?
710  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best Bitcoin Education on: January 10, 2023, 11:09:30 PM
When it comes to Bitcoin learning video content, Andreas Antonopoulos is a great source of Bitcoin education, even e-books that wrote him are very worth it to read and it's inspired us to learn.  There are a lot of sources dropped above and that's enough information for you to start to learn about Bitcoin also, this forum can be your source too upon studying Bitcoin.

Before when I want to explore Bitcoin, I choose the Bitcoin.org website because I know most of my question was answered by them.
Start your journey now by reading informative books or articles made by an expert who has more knowledge on Bitcoin.
711  Other / Meta / Re: How do I update my ad? I got banned twice on: January 10, 2023, 03:46:11 PM
so should i delete my old post before bumping the topic? sorry for my english
You can only delete your old post after 24 hours, so if you didn't delete it, it's considered spamming or an unsubstantial post, and if you continue doing this habit it could be the ban hammer will occur into your account and AFAIK, this was the punishments.
  • 1st offense: 7 days ban
  • 2nd offense: 14 days ban
  • 3rd offense: 30 days ban
  • 4th offense: Permanent ban

Be careful next time if you care about your account.
712  Economy / Reputation / Re: I've been hacked on: January 10, 2023, 12:59:30 AM
Sorry for your expensive loss mate @julerz12, that's quite a big amount here in our country but I know you can work on it and cover your loss fund and pay back these two companies.

I am using this version of Electrum 4.3.2 which I've downloaded from the official website.
I've encountered this before but it wasn't version 4.3.2, upon opening the Electrum app on my laptop, there's a pop-up showing that I need to update the current version before I can proceed to make a transaction.  So I went to the official website and downloaded the latest version then deleted the old one, so meaning I didn't click the message pop-up on the screen.  (Everything went fine and that time)
My question is, have you clicked it?

I thought you were not using a hot wallet like Electrum since you've been here quite a long time managing signature and bounty campaigns.
But whatever mistakes it is, just face it and never do another stupid thing as you think to end this world, that doesn't solve the problem.  I read the suggestion of @Hhampuz which is ideal to follow.

713  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: scammers use too much brain on: January 09, 2023, 11:59:33 PM
This isn't new, the same on Twitter that someone impersonated those big-name accounts or hacked their account posting to double your Bitcoin.
I think people learned from that and no one will fool again with the same trick.  It's obvious that someone personating the Tesla Youtube account.

We can help them and bring this Youtube impersonating account down and Youtube will eventually close the account.
Go to their Youtube account name and click "About" under that tab you'll see a "report user" and click "impersonation".  With the huge number of reports, they'll easily be banned or close account.
714  Other / Meta / Re: Users Changed Name 2023 on: January 09, 2023, 11:31:14 PM
Interesting!
I'm curious now what's the process or how to request to change your username.
Is there any factor to consider?

Everyone has a reason for a name change.... yeah
Yeah, if that's for security reasons, we need to respect them and IMO, if my username changed, I don't want to disclose who I am in the past. Cheesy
Because it's useless changing your name if everyone knows who you are, not unless you want to change your username for the brand name of your company.
715  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HELP, I want betting/gambling tokens in crypto portfolio for 2025 on: January 09, 2023, 11:11:25 PM
But I have not add any gambling token to my list at all, I went on coin market cap and I saw many gambling tokens, I never knew they are that much in number. My questions is

Is there any reason to add gambling tokens to my crypto portfolio? What drives their value? Do they appreciate in value just like other altcoins whenever we are in a bull market?

If you are in my shoe right now, what gambling token do you think you can take a risk on and add to your crypto portfolio and why?
You can visit the Gambling section for the DYOR for the gambling discussion and the gambling token, search the top gambling token on the Coinmarketcap and also search on that section their progress, to chose and to know their quality if they're worth it to hold in a long term.

But IMO, tokens in casinos are only for the reward system and as I've observed, most of them didn't good for investing in the long term.
So adding gambling tokenized to your portfolio is quite risky and you'll never know what will happen to them in the future.  For the long term, give a big allocation to Bitcoin if you want investment in the long term.
716  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Failure of Exchnages can never be that of Bitcoin. on: January 08, 2023, 11:59:26 PM
In Reality, Bitcoin is a digital gold and can actually do without exchnages.. they haven't represented Bitcoin from the very beginning, an example is that the first pizza bought with Bitcoin, had no exchange playing any role in that process.

If there were no cryptocurrencies especially Bitcoin, there wouldn't have been an exchange... Centralized Exchnages rose up after the creation of Bitcoin , are they any different from local banks? Making profits is the sole aim.
But to be honest, those centralized exchanges bring convenience for most people or Bitcoin users.
There's a benefit but the problem is that it's a mistake made by the centralized exchange that could also have an effect on Bitcoin's reputation and also of course on the price.  Exchange acted as a middleman per transaction when there was trade and to protect people against fraud and this centralized exchange was raised.

There's nothing wrong with me if we will use a centralized exchange as long as never store your coin on exchange for a long time.
They also contributed an awareness of Bitcoin among the people and criticizing failure doesn't make sense to me but instead, learn from this mistake and never leave your crypto to them.
717  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What Is The level on impact of FTX crash on Your portfolio? on: January 08, 2023, 11:30:31 PM
1. Since Bitcoin was affected by the collapse of FTX it's also the same as the altcoins since we know that the price of altcoins was tied up with the Bitcoin price.  Another is the data that you've submitted on the FTX might be lost or who knows it will become at risk.

2. When FUD was widely spread, it takes too long for the FUD that will disappear, which create panic among the people that resulted from the price of Bitcoin going down.  But yeah, I saw now the slow recovery of the price but it's too early to say it is because it could be a normal resistance.
718  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Store your seed phrase offline on: January 07, 2023, 11:56:02 PM
  • If you need to have a backup for recovery, seed phrase is most important. Without it, you can not recover your wallet if your device is broken and can not be fix technically so that you can access your wallet file.
  • If you don't have a backup but your device is well, wallet file is usable, you only need a password to decrypt it and access it. So in this case, password is more important.
  • Of course a backup (should be multiple backups) should be a first thing to do before using any wallet.
I can prefer file backup for wallet.dat but if using a seed phrase wallet, I will only just prefer to go for seed phrase which makes password not to be important to access my coins because if I forget the password, I can still import the seed phrase on a new wallet to have access to my coins, but with wallets like bitcoin core that do not have seed phrase, I will prefer file backup.
The most important thing is the seed phrase, nothing at all.
You can recover a wallet without a password, just simply import it using the seed phrase.
There are too many ways how to protect our seed phrase or private key as long as you stay away online, you're safe.  A piece of paper or engraved on metal, it's up to you as long as you know it's safe.

It's our responsibility to keep them safe and treat the same as money or any valuable stuff that can be stolen anytime.
719  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to know what is the use of rewards, and since when rewards are given to m on: January 06, 2023, 11:59:23 PM
<…>
Merits, or rewards as you call them, were introduced during late January 2018 (with a slight subsequent change in September 2018 affecting Jr. Members), with the declared goal of curbing the amount of spam on the forum. Until then, accounts ranked-up by merely posting and gaining Activity, which was easy-peasy and required no real effort, nor was it affected by the content one wrote. Merits changed that, and reduced spam a fair share I’d say, at least on the main boards, and although a certain degree of spam is inevitable, those knee deep in the habit won’t get very far up the ranking scale.
All your questions have been answered by this post, everything was there on the link given, just read and understand so that you'll know how this merit system works in the forum and how helpful it is.  Because the merit system and the activity that require are now all together and it's a prerequisite that must be acquired.

Isn't that hard if you're knowledgable enough, engaging in technical topics, and of course with knowledge of it is very easy for you to have merit.
So, therefore, I may advise you to read more first and learn, your quality post will be rewarded even without knowing you and it'll come spontaneously.
720  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Safepal hardware wallet review and opinions on: January 06, 2023, 11:27:28 PM
Some of the obstacles that I also complain about from Safepal are the use of batteries that are still wasteful.
When using the wallet regularly the battery will run out in less than 1 week with full charging during use.

I also encountered the battery problem, when switched off the battery discharges anyway and often when I don't use it for a long time I find the safepal totally discharged! I think this should be fixed. Do you happen to know if in the new s1 with the introduction of type-c they have also fixed the battery problem?
I didn't use this but yeah, I've read in different articles that the common problem is the short life span of the battery because they use lithium batteries which is IMO, if you'll not charge it regularly it will reduce the lifespan.  If you're familiar with the most popular battery used in solar energy they used lithium which needs to recharge daily.  My advice is that, even though you didn't use it just check and occasionally charge it like every week even though you're not using it, the battery survives more or less 20 days as their website said which I think 1 week is quite enough.

Now knowing that issue?
Would you continue using SafePal hardware wallet?
