It looks like you have google analytics running on your page. You should consider providing a screenshot or public login details with only viewing capabilities so others can verify your numbers.

Peter Todd is probably the one posting from it:

Peter is strongly against XT, Hearn and Gavin's proposed solutions. But I don't think he would stoop as low as pretending to be satoshi.
703  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts regarding "satoshis" post today on the mailing list? on: August 15, 2015, 07:53:19 PM
Well satoshi has/had the patience and discipline to not spend his 1 million coins.
Something tells me he'll have the same discipline not to intervene in the blocksize debate.
He needs to test to see if this experiment, a decentralized currency system, can work or not.

Is it legit?
Was this the same email address that was hacked a while ago?
If you think it was him/her/they, why didn't he PGP sign this message?
705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is Forking on: August 15, 2015, 07:17:09 PM
Hang on, do we actually have two competing chains right now? Or is this just a heads up that there is going to be a fork in the future?

No competing chains, if Bitcoin XT gets adopted by the majority there will be a fork and the network will start to accept bigger blocks, until then nothing changes.

You can learn more about XT here:

https://bitcoinxt.software/
http://xtnodes.com/
http://gavinandresen.ninja/
https://medium.com/@octskyward

Ah okay good. I used XT a few months ago, it "felt" just the same as core. I went back to core though since it didn't seem like a serious project then. Looks like it's getting a lot more serious. Should be interesting to watch this unfold. Things might get bumpy for a while, but I expect everything to be fine in the long run.
706  Economy / Economics / Re: This is how 0.037 Bitcoins looks like in Venezuela on: August 15, 2015, 07:12:39 PM

One modern response to hyperinflation has been to go out and buy cars, as they hold their value better than the currency.

If their government will print larger denominations, then the bulk of cash needed is reduced.  The last hyperinflation I saw in Peru had a bank note of 5,000,000 intis worth some $3.00 at that time (late 1980s IIRC).  As hyperinflation continued, they went back to the sol ("New Sol"), their currency has been stable since.

Ahh okay thanks. So like the Trillion dollar bill in Zimbabwe, Venezuela has larger denomination bills? I guess by the photo provided I thought they didn't have larger bills available.

Does anybody know how people go out and buy things with inflation like this? Serious question, do they bring a backpack stuffed full of cash instead of a wallet when they go shopping? Clearly a wallet would not be large enough to fit enough notes to buy anything. Or do they just deposit it all at a bank and use debit cards?

Ethereum launch: Half-Finished Builds, Private key Bug and Exchange Dumpfest

When Ethereum was finally released to the public, quite a few people had high expectations of this platform and the associated digital currency called “Ether.”  However, ever since the launch itself, it became clear that it would take quite a bit of tweaking and prodding to get Ethereum running on most computers.  Quite a shame for a project that raised millions of USD in investment capital, yet failed to deliver a user-friendly piece of technology.

http://digitalmoneytimes.com/crypto-news/ethereum-launch-half-finished-builds-private-key-bug-exchange-dumpfest/

This is actually the main reason I am very disappointed in Ethereum.. I guess I will be buying a few when the price goes below IPO levels in USD as I think the idea is still quite good.

However, them not even being able to deliver a simple GUI wallet.. I mean, WTF?

The Ethereum launch had lots of hype and anticipation. Unfortunately the launch did not live up the hype that was expected. The price dump after launch made many feel betrayed, but there's a been a slow steady rise on the ETH/BTC charts the last 7 days.

I did not have 100 users to credit yet. To much abusers that i had to remove. And it took a long time to check latest posts of people. I found that some accounts post ONLY in giveaways thread like last couple of pages with theirs comments was only for giveaways. So it took me long time to make list for this giveaway.

Tnx for your patience, everybody will be credited very soon.

Also fb giveaway should be credited within next 24h to .

Cheers.

That's a total bummer that there are so many scammers and schemers out there. When you deal with money people don't act like people anymore. Thanks for doing the extra work Micro to protect the people that play by the rules.

Have I been removed from the campaign or is there just maintenance going on?
712  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much do you think 1 Bitcoin will be worth in 2020? on: August 15, 2015, 04:33:01 PM
I am quite curious about this poll.
Reason: when there was a poll in Feb 2014 re bitcoin price in a year, the average of all answers was $2000, but in reality, it was ~$220 in Feb of 2015.
So, the wisdom of the crowds was totally wrong, however, maybe the questions were asked among bitcoin aficionados and hence, unreliable (as predictors).

$10K seems to be a sweet spot for the pole (and i voted for it as well), but i wonder if we are simply biased.
If the wisdom of the crowds is nonsense, then some models that people are proposing to make predictions about a future using blockchains are bogus as well.
I think that the accurate number would have been if you asked 1000-2000 average Joe/Janes the same question, but not here.
Just my 2sat.

Doesn't wisdom of the crowd add up all the results and then get the average guess, instead of the most popular guess?

So adding up all the results I am getting: 18,147,032
Divide 152 votes
= $119,388.36

That can't be right... or can it?
Yea but this is like going to Dallas Cowboys preseason game and asking who's going to win the super bowl. You know almost everyone's going to say Cowboys but that does not mean that it's the majority opinion.

Agreed, this is definitely skewed since it's being asked on a bitcoin enthusiast forum.  However if you asked random people on the street, they have no idea about the value of a bitcoin so those results would be wrong as well. It's not like a jar of jelly beans or how much a cow weighs were anyone can make a good guess.  I guess you would have to get a room full of bitcoin bears and bulls for a better result.

I want to make this VERY clear.

If you use a bot OF ANY KIND your account will be banned.
If you use a browser extension, proxy, breakpoints etc to try and edit your post variables, you will be banned.

Play by the rules and only use the UI I provide. Opening up the JS console and entering code or betting scripts will get you banned.
714  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will happen if Bitcoin reach 1 USD exchange rate? on: August 15, 2015, 05:23:10 AM
I would buy a ton of it

This ^  and so would many others, which would cause the price to rise right back up. So the answer is it won't ever go to 1 USD unless something came out or happened that completely destroyed bitcoin and it's credibility.
715  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Suggestion for another blockexplorer on: August 15, 2015, 04:40:21 AM
Have you tried Chain.com?  Their API is easy to use and is similar to blockchain in usage. They allow 10 requests per second, which should be more than enough. I've noticed their services drop quite frequently though  Undecided .  Another option is blocktrail but I haven't used them yet...
Block.io offers a wallet API similar to blockchain, create addresses, check balances, send transactions, payment forwarding etc.
716  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is this a legal Bitcoin transaction? on: August 15, 2015, 02:37:13 AM
Warning! this bitcoin address contains transactions which may be double spends. You should be extremely careful when trusting any transactions to or from this address.

Well that's weird.  Here's the double spend tx for that address (https://blockchain.info/tx/ac1b8610047ba5b6fd0fe7ce27e35b8dd82662a4a19dbe8da7a271adce3fe813/28)

It was a blockreward, newly generated coins. Can someone explain what we are seeing with these newly generated coins being marked as a double spend? Is this what the block reward from an orphaned block looks like?

EDIT:  Nvm, yes it was an orphaned block. https://blockchain.info/block-index/566760
717  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info taking forever to forward and send callback? on: August 15, 2015, 12:23:01 AM
Yes, unfortunately this is the new normal.
I have asked them on twitter when they expect to return to almost instant callbacks and forwards like it used to be but they have not responded.
It's been like the for a few months now. Sad
It is a free service where they pay the transaction fees so I guess we can't complain. Blockcypher offers a similar service, but you pay the transaction fee, it might be worth checking out.
718  Economy / Speculation / Re: ETA for the ETF? (and Gemini Exchange speculation) on: August 14, 2015, 12:43:19 PM
You can't really compare itBit and Gemini, they are two different beasts.
ItBit is a foreign corporation from Singapore with very little backing and even less hype.
Gemini is a domestic NY Corp with lots of backing from the bitcoin community and a ton of hype.

ItBit did their thing, they were a company nobody ever heard of and they slid in out of nowhere to become the first licensed BTC exchange in NY, too bad nobody uses them.
719  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many of you are living just with Bitcoin? on: August 14, 2015, 05:15:05 AM
I can't pay my rent, groceries, gas or car payment with bitcoin, so using bitcoin only to live is not an option for me at all.
