721  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Big companies finally had enough of the excessive tax on: July 01, 2021, 06:30:43 PM
Excessive taxes make some gamblers limit gambling, everyone in this crypto world really avoiding taxes and so as gamblers, the thing with this implementation is that gamblers will find other ways to avoid those taxes, so they might change to another platform that does not requires taxes. The government is always there, they will always try to gain on every business they can have.

In many of the countries, the gamblers are not taxed. Only the casinos are taxed on their profits. In EU and some of the other regions, whatever you win from a casino is 100% tax-free. But in countries such as the US, that is not the case. Whether you manage a few big wins in a casino, or win a lottery jackpot, you need to pay taxes on the winning amount. A lot of people have pointed out that this amounts to double taxation, but the US laws are made like that. Now coming to the gambling companies, the tax rate can be quite steep. Check the table below for details:

722  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: July 01, 2021, 06:22:57 PM
Spain certainly improved during the group phase... but they so nearly threw away their chance in the last 16. That first knockout round had some weird matches and weird results, but no team really looks invincible at the moment. So I'd definitely agree that whilst Spain should be favourites, we certainly can't say that Switzerland have no chance.

For me, there is only one team that hasn't shown any major weakness till now, and that is England. Spain conceded two draws in their first two opening matches and looked unstable. Now I will not deny the fact that Scotland held England to a draw, and in the remaining group matches they scored only one goal each. But at least when compared to the other favorites, they have done well enough. Spain is inexperienced and Italy is inconsistent. Belgium is overdependent on Lukaku. So for me, England is having the highest chances right now.

Two divisions are needed, because the gap between the pig 3 sides and smaller nations such as Sri Lanka are increasing. I would rather prefer three divisions of test cricket. It will be as follows:

Division 1: India, Australia, New Zealand, England and Pakistan
Division 2: South Africa, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and West Indies
Division 3: Zimbabwe, Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland and Nepal.
Ind-Pak are not going to play so they might end up playing with only SENA countries in this system.

Guess we discussed this topic couple of times here, anyway IMO it would be better if they could divide teams into 2 group according to their ranking. As of now we have 12 tests playing nations.

Group A  : Top 1-6 ranking team
Group B  : Bottom 7-12 ranking team[/quote]

For my part, I am OK with this system as well. But my question for you is whether you are OK with a total of 15 test matches in 2 year cycle (each team playing against the other teams 3 matches each)? That would mean 7-8 matches per year, instead of your preference of 9-10. Also, I would like to have a third division, consisting of teams ranked 13-18. Now I don't think that the ICC would like to spend their money to schedule the third division, for teams such as Scotland and Nepal. So it will remain in pipeline for a few years.
724  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: July 01, 2021, 04:50:56 PM
Well, as you said - women's team matches are not competitive I do not even keep a track of women cricket tournaments unless it is a world cup. I am surprised to see a few members watch the match between ENG and IND and loved it. I will try and see whether I can find the highlights of this match on the internet. If someone knows then do reply to me with the link.

From the posts here, I can see that other users are also having the same opinion as mine. The women's ODI matches are very boring. But I have watched a few WBBL matches (women's equivalent of the Big Bash League in Australia), and they looked interesting to me. Franchise T20 leagues can bring big change to the women's game. The BCCI has ignored repeated requests for WIPL, but other boards such as the ECB and CA have gone ahead with such leagues. And this has resulted in a huge improvement in quality of the game in these countries.
725  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Cryptocurrency is best for long term investment? on: July 01, 2021, 12:05:07 PM
For long term investment you should choose top coin like Bitcoin and Ethereum. Bitcoin represents all cryptocurrencies and Ethereum represents all altcoins. Any change in the crypto market is following these two coins. So for long term investment, I choose these two coins.

You can say that Bitcoin represents all the cryptocurrencies, because it was the original cryptocurrency which was created by Satoshi Nakamoto. Almost all the other cryptocurrencies have copied the basic traits from Bitcoin. At the same time, I don't agree with your argument that Ethereum represent the altcoins. Ethereum was not the first altcoin that came to circulation, and it is not the most advanced (in terms of technology). Namecoin was the first altcoin, created in 2011. Ethereum ICO occurred in 2014. And Ethereum is a second generation cryptocurrency. Now we have 4th generation cryptocurrencies circulating in the market.
726  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What happen if US ban cryptocurrencies? on: July 01, 2021, 11:53:05 AM
It is not possible for a government to ban cryptocurrency, because it doesn't exist in physical form. Despite the name "coin", cryptocurrency exists in the form of codes written in various computer languages such as C++ and Haskell. It is not possible to destroy these codes, once they are written. And in order to access the coins, the user needs another set of codes (private key). Once again, the government can't ban or seize these codes, since they exist only in digital form. And unlike bank accounts and demat accounts, these codes don't have any direct link with the user.
727  Economy / Economics / Re: George Soros and Bezos have paid almost zero taxes on: July 01, 2021, 08:13:00 AM
That also means that if the shares were transferred without Bill Gates ever selling them, then they were never income and never subject to income tax.  And because they're now owned by a charity, Bill Gates doesn't have that as part of his personal wealth anymore.  So there's literally nothing wrong with the example you used yourself.

I don't agree 100%. The ownership change is only nominal. Previously Bill Gates was owning these shares in his personal account (i.e direct ownership). Now he owns these shares indirectly. BMGF owns these shares and BMGF is under the control of Bill & Melinda Gates. The revenue from the sale of these shares are still being spent as per the preference of Bill Gates. If he hadn't moved them to BMGF, then these shares would have got taxed at the time of his death (he is 65 years old now).
728  Economy / Economics / Re: Can the world be without poverty on: July 01, 2021, 07:57:10 AM
it is children who come from poor families who have a strong desire to succeed, they are the ones who will become real success. School is important, but life experiences outside will shape people to be able to break the challenges of the world. if we see there are also many people with low education, but they are successful

People with low education levels will be able to become successful. But they will face issues due to their lack of education. So even if they become rich, there is a need to get the necessary education. And age is no bar to get education. I have seen people in their 40s studying for the MBA course in my city. And here the government has also taken out a few programs, to make sure that elderly people who are illiterate get the basic education. The participation rates are low, but those who have attended such programs say that they are very beneficial.
729  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 01, 2021, 07:44:09 AM
I like your 3 divisions. But I think Pakistan should be given second division. The first division will include England, New Zealand, Australia, and India. There is no continuity in Pakistan's game. If they perform well in a match, then they lose badly in the next match. I don't think Pakistan is a first-tier team now.

Perhaps the classification took the market size in to account. Pakistan is the largest market for cricket in Asia, after India. So their matches are guaranteed to have a consistent audience and viewership, irrespective of their form. It is not so for the smaller markets such as Sri Lanka, West Indies and South Africa. Having a larger player pool and population means that there is a chance that their performance will improve in the future. On the other hand, teams such as Sri Lanka are having a limited pool of players and therefore the chances that they will produce world class players on a consistent basis is low.
730  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: July 01, 2021, 07:32:38 AM
In cricket, women's team matches are not competitive. Their gameplay is very slow. In many matches, good teams win by a lot of runs. However, yesterday's match was interesting. Although you guessed it, England can't win. But in the England women's team was able to defeat team India easily. They lost only 5 wickets and able to scored 225 runs.

At one point, England was at 133/5. But the partnership between Sophia Dunkley and Katherine Brunt for the 6th wicket made sure that England get another victory over India. BTW, one of the topmost female players in India, Mithali Raj has been nominated for the Arjuna Award (topmost sporting award in India). At least when compared to the other countries such as England, Australia and New Zealand, the women's game in India hasn't seen much progress over the years. And that is evident from the results during the current series against England.
731  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 01, 2021, 07:08:13 AM
Yes, that would be a timely decision. Because, if there is a team match like Sri Lanka vs New Zealand, then there are no spectators in the match. No one enjoys these type of matches. Because we can easily predict the outcome of such matches. So it would be better to divide the teams into two or three. In the third part, new team will be taken, who have just qualified to play Tests.

In general test cricket is losing spectators, because people don't have time to watch cricket for 5 days consecutively. Apart from organizing the test matches in to WTC, the ICC hasn't done anything to make test cricket more appealing to the younger fans (and I don't think that they will be able to do much, even if they want to). ICC clinging on to test cricket is like a computer user still dependent on the 1.44 MB floppy disk, when 64GB or 128 GB USB drives are available at the same price. They need to understand that test cricket has become obsolete.
732  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are some long term projects for holding? on: June 30, 2021, 07:16:19 PM
Good project for holding is Aeternity, because Ae is technological project and also stable

Recently I am hearing a lot about Aeternity and I am willing to consider it as an option for investment. A few factors that add to the attractiveness of Aeternity are as follows:

1. Scalable, unlike most of the established cryptocurrencies
2. high-speed transacting
3. Coded in Erlang
4. Development team based in Europe
5. Listed in most of the major exchanges, such as Huobi and Bithumb.

Now comes the hard part. The current exchange rates represents a 98% loss form the ATH levels of 2018.
733  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: June 30, 2021, 07:03:05 PM
I placed a bet on England Woman's team as England and India were playing, but the problem is that England lost 4 wickets already and they still need 129 runs from 27 how is the India bowlers will they upset them today?.

Well.. for my part I have never placed a bet on the women's game. For me it is even to watch these matches on TV. When compared to the men's game, the quality is much lower. And this gender gap is unique to cricket. I have seen women's football matches, and the excitement and quality is as good as the men's matches. But in cricket, the women's matches look as if some amateurs are playing cricket. The gap in skillset is too huge. BTW, England needs another 113 runs. For them, it will be tough to win this match.
734  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The First Bank In Mexico Is About to Start Accepting Bitcoin on: June 30, 2021, 06:49:37 PM
It is not that simple. Bankers in general are quite greedy. But this is more like an issue which can affect their very survival. With the announcement from El Salvador (making BTC as legal tender), Bitcoin is now being regarded as a competitor to fiat currency). That makes it a competitor to the banking system as well. I am expecting more hostile action from fiat based economies such as the United States, and from the bankers. The honeymoon period for cryptocurrency seems to be over. It should be ready to face tough challenges now.
When bitcoin is considered a competitor to Fiat currency, then bitcoin adoption is successful. in el salvador bitcoin is used as a legal tender, even the government provides a $30 airdrop for those who create an account in the official El salvador government wallet called Chivo. and now when one of the banks in Mexico wants to adopt Bitcoin, of course this is good news and Bitcoin is increasingly being adopted.

Still too early to claim that. The billionaire Ricardo Salinas Pliego wants his bank to deal with BTC. But the Mexican central bank says that it is illegal. I don't know whether going against their directive will result in any good. Given the fact that El Salvador is very near to Mexico, why can't Salinas open a few branches of his bank (Banco Azteca) in El Salvador? He will not face any legal challenges, and he can use this as a test cause for any future rollout in Mexico. El Salvador is actually encouraging crypto entrepreneurs to move to that country.
735  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The First Bank In Mexico Is About to Start Accepting Bitcoin on: June 30, 2021, 02:30:06 PM
If this attempt like any other becomes successful, I think it's not that impossible to say that other banks around the world will probably do the same because bankers aren't the type to let a money making opportunity that could potentially be big to just pass by.

The conflict between India and Pakistan has been going on since the partition. And there is no possibility of resolving the conflict soon. They have met 6 times in the last 6 years and all the matches have been held in a third country. The two teams will also face a third country in the T20 World Cup.

One thing that I don't understand is that why this issue is only limited to cricket. In other sports such as football and hockey, both the countries face each other quite regularly. IMO, there is no need to mix politics in to cricket, as it can be mutually detrimental to both the sides. I am in favor of BCCI resuming cricket ties with the PCB. But the prevailing sentiment in India is vehemently against any such resumption. And the current Indian government is also not much interested in it. I guess the attitude is more conciliatory in Pakistan.
737  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: June 30, 2021, 01:56:40 PM
Did anyone watched the Sri Lanka vs England match yesterday? The spell from Chris Woakes was just unbelievable (10-5-18-4). Apart from Kusal Perera and Wanindu Hasaranga, none of the Lankan batsmen managed a score of 20 plus. Two matches remain for Sri Lanka, but I don't have much hope. They lost the T20 series 3-0. And it looks like they will lose the ODI series by the same margin as well. Sri Lanka is in a pathetic situation, as far as the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League is concerned. Right now they are at the 13th position.
738  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: June 30, 2021, 01:26:14 PM
Seriously, I never want  Italy, Germany, Portugal and France to be out of the Euro at the round of 16 stages. I consider all of these were upsets.
I won't be able to see many of my favorite players in Quarterfinals matches. I don't know about other people here but this made me really sad.  Sad

Italy? Italy is still there, right? Their quarter final match is against Belgium on 3rd July. It is going to be a tough task for them, but I am hopeful given their recent form. On the other hand, despite the presence of star players such as Romelu Lukaku, Belgium has been facing a lot of issues related to team cohesion and coordination. And in your list, Germany and Portugal were just unlucky. They got very tough opponents for their PQF matches. Not the case with France though. They should blame themselves for the poor performance against Switzerland.
739  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: June 30, 2021, 01:12:40 PM
It has been quite frustrating that the ICC is not releasing the schedule for the T20 World Cup yet. Only three and half months remain and we still don't know who will be facing in the first set of matches. They have only given the list of 4 stadiums where the matches will be held - Oman Cricket Academy Ground (Al Amerat), Dubai International Stadium, Sheikh Zayed Stadium (Emirate of Abu Dhabi), and the Sharjah Stadium. But there is no information regarding which groups will be playing on each of these grounds.
740  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What Do You Guys Think About So-Called "Shit-coin" ? on: June 29, 2021, 07:51:30 PM
How can you say that shitcoins are going to be good for the community, its useless and the creators are going to make money using them by selling it on presale and by listing on scam exchanges then they will let the project to die so it's useless in terms of use case that is why we call it as shitcoin/token.

As far as he is concerned, some people are making money and therefore it is good for cryptocurrency sector. With established altcoins, this logic makes sense. When BTC or ETH goes up, a lot of people make good profits. But I don't know whether the same can be said about shitcoins. Because those who purchase these coins at rates close to ATH will suffer heavy losses in the future (unlike the case with investors of BTC and ETH, who are likely to get good returns if they hold on to their investment for a few years).
