7261  Other / Meta / Re: Statistics of registrations on Bitcointalk 2017-2019 on: July 26, 2019, 02:24:10 AM
I check back my post history, and found something for you, that relates to the OP.
Time Series on monthly statistics of forum (new users, new topics, new posts)
Plots
1) New members and new topics
A quick overview. It seems that monthly statistics on new members and new topics tend to hit peaks each two-year period.
2) New posts
And that one:
As I promised yesterday, I made some quick descriptive analysis today.

Notes:
It's not exact intra-month registered accounts over years due to days on which theymos scrapped data.
However, we can assumed those figures are for intra-month data.

ABSTRACT
(1) 50% of observed months have intra-month registered account range from 2311 to 27790 (the interquartile range);
(2) 50% of observed months have intra-month registered account above or below 10432 (the median);
(3) The intra-month registered account fell 91.6% from its all time high in 2017 at 238400 to 20046; whilst the bitcoin decreased nearly 83.9%.
(4) The demotion on Junior Members in September 2018 probably caused intra-month registered accounts fell considerbaly later months.
(5) The difference in means of before and after periods (cut-off timepoint is Sept. 2018) is -63.6%.

Time-series plot

I don't know where I snapshotted the image, due to lack of thread's author, LOL. Still found it and will post link of the thread later (if I can find it). If you can help, please help me to find the thread.
I actually spent around 15 minutes or more to check back the first 80 pages of Merit & new rank requirements topic. 80 pages made within 3 days after the start of merit system, most of them are pyramid quotes. Honestly, my fingers got hurted due to over-scrolling computer mouse, so I gave up for now. Wholy shit, pyramid quotes!
Scanning pages again, still not found on page #130.  Roll Eyes

Someone else's thread similiarly describes what the time-series plot above shown.  Grin

As the chart shown, total monthly registered accounts in recent months dropped dramatically to the median and mean of the year 2015.
I believe that it is right time to say "Thanks theymos, merit system works and actually effective control spammers!"

Basic statistics:
- Mean +/- standard deviation: 22200 +/- 34774
- Median (interquartile range): 10432 (2311 - 27790)
- Min - max: 3 - 238433.

Interquartile range (from p25 to p75 in raw result table)
Data interpretation:
- 50% of observed total monthly registered accounts (just assumed the dataset is for exactly monthly data) ranges from 2311 to 27790 (the interquartile range);
- 50% of observed months have total registered accounts above 10432 (the median), whilst the rest 50% of months have figures below 10432.

Code:
. tabstat regacc, s(n mean sd p50 p25 p75 min max) c(s)

    variable |         N      mean        sd       p50       p25       p75       min       max

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Data source was dumped by theymos there:
We're at a local minimum, but registrations jump around a lot:

Statistics over years
In both medians and means, the year of 2018 has been the highest year with its median and mean of monthly registered accounts are 66895 and 64782, respectively.

- The median means that 50% of months in 2018 have total registered accounts above 66895 or below 66895.
- The interquartile range for 2018 is 38393 to 88373. It means 50% of months in 2018 have figures in range from 38393 to 88373.
I always use median and interquartile range for descriptive statistics because they automatically exclude effects of outliers data points.

Percent changes of intra-month registered account:
The figures decreased 91.6% when bitcoin fell 83.9%.
It gives us a potential causal inference that implementation of merit system and new rank requirements have bigger effects than the falls of bitcoin.
One more finding, the intra-month figures after September of 2018 (Junior Member demotions) fell significantly than the before period. I think it make sense.

Detail calculation presented below.
Code:
* BTC price
. di (19800-3190)*100/19800
83.888889
* Intra-month registered accounts
. di (238400-20046)*100/238400
91.591443

The means of before and after Sept. 2018 are 80179 and 29190 (respectively)
The percent of difference is 63.6%

This one is in plan of theymos.
This thought occurred to me recently:

If you wanted to implement Merit in a decentralized forum (ie. one in the vein of Freenet's Frost or FMS), you could do it in this way:
 - Everyone can, from their own perspective, give unlimited merit to posts, and these merit transactions are put into files which each user publishes via the decentralized system. (Like a merit.txt.xz which every user publishes.) Unlike on bitcointalk.org, you can also give people merit without an associated post.
 - For everyone who has merit, you download their merit-transactions-list, but scale down/up all of the numbers so that the total merit that they send is equal to the actual sMerit that they own. It might or might not be useful to do this via some sliding time frame scheme so that merit transaction amounts aren't just continually diminished over time as they increase in quantity.
 - Apply the above step recursively, creating a web-of-trust-style merit network

Then every user has a subjective merit score for each post (sort of like the bitcointalk.org trust system, which was inspired by FMS). And if you wish, you can assign people to be merit sources from your perspective by sending them large amounts of merit directly; these might or might not appear in the merit-transactions-list which you publish.

Now, it is time to look back at merit chronological history.
One year anniversary of merit system
In short, what you discussed is here:
3) Second adjustment: Enhanced newbie restrictions & requirements
Due to excessive garbage-posting, you now need 1 merit to be a Jr Member. All existing Jr Members who didn't meet the requirement were demoted. Also, newbies can no longer set any signature or personal text.
Let me clarify that demotion on Junior Members whom have not earn a single merit (at least) means that they will become Newbie, and their signature automatically disabled by forum system.
To sum up, that case OP raised is likely a glitch.

I will add your story to my thread: Inspirational stories from self-made promoted users.
Please tell me which rank you began with merit system? Are you fully self-made Senior Member?
7265  Other / Meta / Re: Merit awarding on: July 26, 2019, 01:58:11 AM
Please read these threads:
Promotion with merit system and new rank requirements. It's possible.
Inspirational stories from self-made promoted users
Read those stories, connect dots inside those stories and in between, then you will have better overview on how merit system works, and how you can get merits. Basically, changing your posting style, and posts' contents, then you will see merits come to you as rewards for your efforts and your contributions.

We plan to open the opportunity up to even more members of the BitcoinTalk community very soon so please continue to check the thread.  We appreciate your support and thank you very much.
Sounds like the PlayBetr team might expand ranks to below Hero Member rank, I like it, and will apply to join for sure if such expansion implemented. I will keep observing both ANN and bounty threads of PlayBetr.

^ AFAIK, all gambling platforms had the same rules in claiming faucet that it must be zero balance before you can claim another one.
My question is, how many times you can claim a faucet per day? I saw the terms and condition in the number 13. (Restriction) --"the user is forbidden to withdraw winnings made from Faucet", so it means you need to deposit first of any amount before you are allowing withdraw. So, if you are there for the faucet you can't withdraw your winning.
Faucet gives gamblers a small money to play and get real experience with their real playing time. Yes, faucet gives new registered accounts a few cents to get experience. I think all sites are fair enough to ask for deposits to be able to withdraw. No matter how big you can win from faucet, you will have to make deposits and play before you are allowed to withdraw. Additionally, I don't think people can win big enough to hit minimum amount to withdraw from their faucet.  Tongue

I can not tell you, because you did not mention that you want wallets of which coins? Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, DASH, Monero, Stellar, Dogecoin, Bitshares, which one?

Data taken from the OP, then converted.

I assumed that those statistics are for first days of months.

7271  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] WOLF.BET Signature Campaign - Hero/Legendary - Up to 0.01BTC/week! on: July 25, 2019, 02:48:33 AM
It surprises me how does (forum rank) not even eligible for this campaign are the ones crying here and there. A project employes the service of a forum user (signature manager) to manage their campaign that simply means, that manager has total control of who gets in or out.
Recent weeks, most of new launched campaigns accepted Hero Member & Legendary members. Unfortunately, I would have not joined those parties, but the good news is I am on my way to Hero member rank. I believe I will hit it within next one or two months. IMO, I still don't see considerable between those two ranks and Senior Member rank, at least in terms of effects readers/ viewers can see from signatures. I also understood that there are other factors that make differences. Hero Members and Legendary members, somehow are more reliable than Senior Members, because they have had longer existence and if they have not scammed or done something bad over years, the probability they will do it is low. Time can change people, but probability of such thing is low.

Taking in account that my portfolio is 99% Bitcoin,
I agree with you 100% but I do play with shitcoins from time to time, I admit Wink
Allocating 1% of your portfolio for shit coins will help you safe. That is for risky investment, and you won't lose your life with just 1% of your capital invest in those shit coins. If you are lucky with one or some of them, you might get richer. Someone use significant proportion of their capital for risky investment, so if you are unlucky with their chosen shitcoins, they will lose big.
7273  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🐺WOLF.BET - Provably fair dice game 🎲 Free faucet🚰 7-day streak bonus 🔥 on: July 25, 2019, 02:11:02 AM
I think your balance should be 0 to be able claim another faucet which is 2 DOGE
I think about it too. Most of sites allow users to claim faucets when their account balance drop to zero. They apply that rule to avoid compromise from cheaters.

We are within weeks of the European Football Season 2019 starting and excitement around here is at fever pitch!
The coming season contains lots of expectation for sportsbet.io team and supporters. With massive  marketing dealed with Watford and Flamengo clubs, yeah, we might see a milestone of Sportsbet.io this year, to evade deeper in football areas first, then might expand more to other kinds of sports.

It is a big joke, fella!
Newbie accounts popping up and spreading shit about other coins or exchanges while promoting their own coin or exchange.....  just another normal day on these forums. :p
It is interesting to know that you have been in crypto long enough to have your own experience with Mt Gox, LOL. For txbit.io, it is good, but the problem now is its daily volume is too low. Each day, total volume of txbit.io has fluctuated around 1 BTC, that should be increased more. Everthing else, besides volume, are all good.

Anyways, I have been using exchanges since Mt Gox first came online and I will testify that txbit.io is the fastest that I have used out of dozens.  This is also very easy to verify for anyone that wants to sign up and test for themselves. I advise that everyone do their own research and test things for themselves.  Don't believe things just because a random person on the internet said so, including me. Wink

Such users mostly come from account farms, and they are don't care about their posts (contents, quality), or too lazy to spend a couple of minutes to read previous OPs, and previous posts, to brainstorm ideas, and to compose their on-topic posts; or they don't have enough time to do all those steps because they have hundreds accounts need to publish shit posts every day.
Either how good the poster becomes over the time, their primary intention would have been to spam, plagiarise and to get a higher rank certainly joining signature campaigns. If they would have come here for the sole purpose of contributing something they would have never copied other user's post.
Yes, it's different at somewhat extent, but there are common reason of plagiarsim. That is to steal words or ideas of others in order to get financial benefits. For whatever, signature campaigns, bounties (plagiarise to hit post quota); or to steal others words (such as Whitepaper, OPs, etc.) to lauch scam projects (for example).

Copying from a news article without properly mentioning the source is completely different than copying a forum member's post. Jace Lee have used text spinning and tried to make the post as his own post which isn't really appreciated. I don't report newbies who forget to add a link to their post if they have shared a news article since in the beginning most of us wouldn't be really aware of posting a link.
7279  Other / Meta / Re: Users that you should merit on: July 24, 2019, 01:03:05 PM
The WO is just a special environment, where both good post as good memes and shared stuff can get merited, still its important to keep stuff like that in there and don't use it all over the forum.... The WO is a place where we can be a little bit human more I guess Roll Eyes
People can get merits for funny posts in WO. Yes, human need to smile and funny posts serve its role to help people have funny moments. Hence, such posts deserve merits.

WO is a big thread, and within a few minutes, we can see it moves to next page(s). That thread is an unique one, we can not find other threads like this in the forum.
Quote
Still a good post posted in the WO is always a win as its been read by many people and probably educate a lot of readers so keep them coming filippone Cheesy
I don't know there are posts in WO deleted due to off-topic or not. If there are screening procedures or report(s) on off-topic posts in WO, there are thousands of off-topic posts, I believe.

Thank you for taking time to leave your feedback.  We always welcome suggestions, comments and concerns anytime including what additional coins that you would like to see offered at www.Playbetr.com.
You are welcome, and it is my pleasure to support PlayBetr.com. I observed the platform, and its bounty threads for months, and I wish that the bounty will last long enough till the day I ranked up to Hero member. Later, if there are open slots for my rank, I will apply to join and official support PlayBetr.com (if get acceptance from manager, too). There are lots of if conditions till that day.  Wink
