even if Theymos added a dozen new moderators, those spammers would quickly figure out a way to keep doing what they're doing.
They will not get anything beneficial from their hard work to spam the forum, if theymos adds more strict rules, and adjust the rank system with new rules on rank demotion. It will be cool if spammers can do their jobs (spamming, they can spam anything they want, but other users can report their spam to mod, and get report badges, maybe), but eventually they won't get any return due to merit system and rank demotion. The more spam posts they made, the longer period they spam the forum, the higher probability they will get demoted by rank system.
By now, spammers can not rank up, even from Newbies to Junior members, because they ruined their sendable merits on their earlier perma banned accounts (or nuked). Now, they have to beg for merits, earn merits from others to get at least a single merit to move up to Junior Member rank, but it seems that they have mostly stucked.

7683  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Binance threatens to delist BitcoinSV for Craig Wright pretending to be satoshi on: April 15, 2019, 05:01:35 PM
I have never cared about the Bitcoin SV, so I have never known who are Craig Wright, because after Bitcoin Cash and its performance, I don't care about any later forks from bitcoin, honestly. Today, I read the topic and knew that Craig Wright is a person who stood behind Bitcoin SV. It makes me surprised with all journey of Bitcoin SV, so far.
7684  Other / Meta / Re: Focus on solutions & avoid personal attacks. on: April 15, 2019, 04:53:03 PM
I find the ignore button is best to avoid personal attacks.
Ignore button does not work with personal attacks, when attackers create topic for that. I don't say that personal attacks on prominent users of forum will destroy their trust. They are prominent, well-known users, and they have huge contributions to the forum. Consequently, they won't be destroyed easily by attackers, maybe never if they don't violate forum rules themselves, and misuse their rights as staffs, DT members, or merit sources.

I thank you for your quick reply, and I also suggested @xtraelv  to add the important information to his topic.
Today, I got the reply from theymos that he took over the forum since 2012.
Here is a detailed clarification from theymos, and I thought that @xtraelv should add it into the OP, because it is one of important things of the forum.
There was a period where both Sirius and I were active administrators. For convenience, I reckon Jan 1, 2012 as when I became head administrator, though it was actually a gradual transition starting before and ending after that.

Then Sirius was head administrator until 2012, which is when I took over.
I thought you actually took over the forum from Sirius earlier than 2012, maybe last months of 2011.

theymos, has stated so many times that the forum does not need money. I did not note the theymos' original post on this, but I might come back some days later to update the post with link to his original statements. Maybe you can find it here, but not sure: Get Donator status by donating 10 BTC
7689  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Minimum wage salary from real job compare to crypto earning which is better? on: April 15, 2019, 06:50:24 AM
<A small monthly investment in Bitcoin now, might secure your financial freedom in the future, but the extra knowledge about this technology will be the bonus on top of that.>
The merit system changed my life in better way, rather than ruin my life. To be honest, since the birth day of merit system, my attitude to use the forum changed entirely, in more positive direction. After that day, with the stimulation from the merit system, I focused more on reading, learning (forum rules, forum structures, helpful topics) and help others more often with my gradually increasing knowledge and skills.
Without the merit system, I would have stucked forever with shitshows.  Roll Eyes
7690  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Minimum wage salary from real job compare to crypto earning which is better? on: April 15, 2019, 06:31:23 AM
I'm just curious and still want to learn more about crypto not only to earn but also to share to anyone that there is another world that exists. I am working only as a crew got enough minimum wage salary. Is it right for those that feel worthless same as I am the income is insufficient in the real world to give up and focus more about crypto?
You should know which areas you have made your works better at the moment and stick with it to keep your stably regular wage for your own personal needs and your family needs. In the same time, you can learn more about crypto, practice what you learn, and try to find a job with crypto related things to see how good you can do with crypto, and how much salary you can earn with crypto works with your temporary capability.
Anyway, if you can keep to do your works in mutiple areas, it will be better. It is very risky to leave your current works and switch all your works to crypto.
There is another topic, that discussed nearly the same question you raised in your topic:
Does anyone here make a living off the forums?
Some of my most favorite posts in the above topic:
Most people have this sort of dream where they can actually live off the internet in general, it all goes well until it does not, the forum and crypto in general are still sort of amateur, just like anything else in life, you may get lucky here and there , but as things develop only those who are actually experienced at something will end up making the majority of the money, so if you are just an average Joe, chances are you going to stick to your everyday's job till you retire.

I personally make more money mining and trading bitcoin than i make from my average IT related job, in fact if i quit my job today and invest all my time and effort in crypto, i could make 2-3 times more income, but then i'd be stupid, if crypto goes south i would be broke and will have to start all over after having lost all my clients and skills, things will be worse than ever.

TL;DR : unless you have a good amount of reserves, then living off the forum and crypto in general is too risky, there is nothing wrong with some extra income from signature campaign or trading goods and services, but don't go balls deep, just in case!

7691  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Airdrop for reporting a given number of posts(suggestion) on: April 15, 2019, 06:19:37 AM
It will only be true if the report badge don't bring users any benefits from it. There are potential benefits, there are also potential abusements.
By now, I don't see theymos really have real intention to add such report badges, and the OP started by theymos to ask for community opinions on report badges does not mention any benefits from those badges, as I saw.
Such thing supposed to be voluntary, but there's no problem if the rewards (such as reporters badge) hardly can be abused.

Quote
You don't even need to create account and spam, you simply go to forum section which have lots of spam and report generic/off-topic posts.
What @coinlocket$ meant likely double-benefits from abusements on the report button. If abusers spend their time to visit such abundantly spamming places, they can find spam posts and report them, but they can easily to do it themselves, with spam-bots, and maybe report-bots to make their works easier. It's just my envision on potential new abusements with report button and report badges, in case there are something beneficial to reporters with report badges.
This can be abused, I can create 1000 accounts to spam the forum and report them with my main to increase merit on my main.
7692  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Airdrop for reporting a given number of posts(suggestion) on: April 15, 2019, 04:02:33 AM
Exactly. This will potentially lead to another kind of abusement in the forum, as well as increasing bad posts again.
Before getting reported, and deleted, we will definitely have to see massive bad posts from abusers, and it is truly annoying.
This can be abused, I can create 1000 accounts to spam the forum and report them with my main to increase merit on my main.
Badge for good reporters (suggested by theymos) is good solution. Remember that it likely is a non-profit badge, so people won't have reason to abuse the report button.

The forum has been abused from time to time, from system to system, so I won't see reason to start a new one (with benefits, rewards) , and create a new chance for abusers to exploit it.
7693  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you want to help the forum? on: April 15, 2019, 03:53:19 AM
Sure, fella. Please do it yourself when you have time, for your own interests as well as for the forum interests in general.
However, I believe that only real users, will apply your suggestion. Shitty posters, bounty hunters will never mind about screening back and delete their bad posts. They are very busy with their works to publish shitty things everyday.

In general, it's good for the forum, in long term, if users have time, then check back their post history, and delete their bad posts. Bad posts mean posts that are off-topic. Moreover, whenever they see bad posts, in topics they joined, they can report to moderators. It only costs them second to do this. Sometimes, mods will delete it, sometimes wont'.
Sometimes you are right with your reports, sometimes you are wrong.
Sometimes sfaffs/mods agree with your reports, sometimes they won't.
Nevertheless, you should just do your works first, and let the rest for staffs/ mods, to clean up the forum.
7694  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Grin Observer - GRN/BTC - Price Movement and Discussion on: April 15, 2019, 03:43:25 AM
Daily 10 Moving Average, 20 Moving Average and 30 Moving Average all remain in inverted bearish formation (Green, Yellow and Orange respectively).
Even don't apply those technical indicators, 10 MA, 20 MA, and 30 MA, the chart strongly points out that we have been in the end of falling process, and Grin coin has come closer to the point, from which it will rally significantly. No one knows how long Grin coin will stay in the price range as its accumulation, but it will bounce back from the range certainly. Three indicators above (10 MA, 20 MA, 30 MA) are good supplement things for the coming rally of Grincoin.
7695  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: April 15, 2019, 03:03:52 AM
The niche of blockchain industry, as well as the DASH niche have expanded day by day, and someday it will become dominator in human civilization.
For now, "no one have to use crypto", and they won't have to use crypto in the future, for sure, but they should use crypto to increase their life quality. By using crypto, and other derivative apps built on blockchain, they won't have to bring their cash around to spend for their daily things.
Crypto bring lots of convenience to human, so it will be definitely a unstoppable trend.

7696  Other / Meta / Re: Is Merit Requirement Per Rank Excessive? on: April 15, 2019, 01:43:08 AM
I'm fired up this month, so how about letting us have custom titles if we can get to 2,000 merits. It's always good to have new levels for our ambitions.
I don't think theymos will add new custom title for users who earn above 2000 merits in the near future. There are some potential reasons for this hesitation:
(1) Currently, there are very limited users who actually received more than 2000 merits, only three for now, including theymos.
Theymos might consider to add new title if there are around 100 or 200 or more than 200 users reach that club of above 2000 merits-earned, in my opinion.
Update:

So many threads and stats about merit. I think I should start a derivatives market. Now who would be interested in shorting merits?
LOL, you have good idea, but you were wrong somehow. Merits are undestroyable, only sendable merits are.
Consequently, if you want to short something relates to merit system, it should be shorting sendable merits.
7699  Other / Meta / Re: Is Merit Requirement Per Rank Excessive? on: April 14, 2019, 01:11:24 PM
I'm just a full member way back 2017 but look me now, reached the rank of Sr. Member because of hard work and dedication.
I understood you feelings, because I started from zero (all of my 272 merits are self-earned), not from Full Member like you, but finally I have become a Senior Member from all my hard works, and my dedication to contribute the forum in my limited ability. The new era of self made users started in January of 2018, and please look at the fact now. In highest paid campaign in the forum, except Chip Mixer, most of participants are self-made users. I think it is the big rewards of merit system and the current rank requirements, the gift is not only merits as well as promotion, but it also is the higher competitive indicator of your account when you rank up with merit system.

Now, I take back my words for becoming a Senior on 2years!, Now the real thing is up ahead of me, and this really might take me 2 years before reaching Hero Tongue
Congratulations, cabalism13!
Next week, you will appear here:
[CLUBS] Top Merited-Users Classified into 4 Clubs
I congratulate you on having your apperance in the Club of above 250 merits-earned in advance.
