8121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ✅ [ANN] Genesis $GENX | P2P Payment Ecosystem | Equihash192.7 | on: February 22, 2019, 03:16:08 PM
Masternodes, it mean that the Genesis Network will switch to Proof-of-Stake and Masternodes when all things prepared thoroughly?
PoS/ MN will put the coin under higher risks of dumps from masternodes investors and small stakers.
Staking will require small capital than mining the coin directly in Proof-of-Work phase.
I will wait to see the implementation and performance of Genesis Network.
I wish that the coin will remain its current price, at least.

This is one of the good initiatives, iasenko.
I support your suggestion.
Same as the welcome message situation. Maybe the forum has to send a message upon registration with a short Warning like this >

Do not share your private keys, seeds and passwords with anyone on the forum. There is a high risk to get scammed.

Weeks ago, I suggested the integration of forum slogan on the right top-corner of the forum, like this:
Specifically dedicated the position on the above corner at the right of the forum for a slogan, in which describe mission and vision of Bitcointalk forum.
Why not?

A ANN topic might be un-necessary, but a slogan is good, I think.
Something like this:
Slogan, or warning message (as you suggested) should be pinned there.
Both of them looks good, I thought.

Hi OP,
As suchmoon stated above, this is main reason why the forum has two basic features:
- Ignore: Simply click on the Ignore below the name and avatar (if available) of accounts that you want to add into your Ignore list.
After ignoring someone, his/her future posts will dissappear for the case of your account.
- Report to moderators:
For this one, you should spend your time to read the topic:

Me too.
Brave browser gives me better experience, in terms of time required to surpass Capcha.
Previously, I used to log in with Tor Browser, that sometimes require so many repetitions to surpass capcha.
Then, I luckily known about the Brave browser via your site (with bitcoin song collection), then I sticked with the Brave browser till  now.
I can, and do, log in using the Tor window in the Brave browser. Haven't had any problems so far.

By the way, for someone who got trouble with capcha, they can visit there after log in to get unique capcha bypass code for each specific account.
Follow all the instructions after log in and click on the link below.

Thanks for the information on the usefulness of virustotal's antivirus scanning features.
I will use to pre-check wallet files before downloading.
Virustotal results are reliable and you can trust it. I used to scan any file I wanted to download with it
< ... >
You can use it to scan files or even URLs.
I used it because it shows the results for more than 70 antivirus and its database is always updated.

You made me shock.
I actually have antivirus softwares installed on all of my computers.
I don't want to put all my files under risks of attacks.

I saw some guys post results of https://www.virustotal.com/ to check malwares or viruses inside wallets before downloading and installing them.
I don't believe results of the site.
So, any one can confirm that that site can give good results and reliable to use, please.
8128  Other / Meta / Re: Member defined rank restriction on thread replies on: February 21, 2019, 02:24:01 PM
One of the disadvantages of self-moderated threads is the risk of accusations of political bias. However, self-moderated threads can be useful to reduce the number of off topic replies and spam. One alternative option could be the ability of a thread starter to restrict replies to certain ranks. This could work in both directions. For example, one could specify that replies could only be made by members or above, or alternatively Junior members or below.
Bad ideas, in my opinion.
Why?
Even Newbies can contribute something useful, or even extreme high quality.
Let's see the case of an expert in cryptography, someone like nullius, who have bunches of things to contribute.

Experts can lose their accounts somehow, not only due to hack, but also lose accounts themselves by forget their account's details after long period of inactive.
So, what if satoshi some day come back, but forget his/ her account password, or even name of his/ her account. Do he/ she deserve to restrict to make a post?

I known the fact that most of spammers, cheaters, fuders, bad guys come from newbies, but in general that kind of restriction is terrible, I think.
8129  Other / Meta / Re: How can we protect Newbies from getting scammed? on: February 21, 2019, 02:17:24 PM
Agreed with all your above ideas.

About this one, I don't get what you want to say?
Can you clarify it, please.
Which kind of combinations of ranks, trust, and gained merits?
And, which kind of purposes of the combination?
I think it is time to change these ranks to something more significant combining current rank, trust and gained merits.
8130  Other / Meta / Re: Updated List of Bitcointalk Hidden Pages/Post on: February 21, 2019, 02:08:15 PM
For OP's creator,
You forgot this one, patrol page.
This page help us to observe the situation of forum spamming endemic at specific timepoints.
I think you should add it into your OP.
8131  Other / Meta / Re: ⭐ Forum chronicle - UP Rank List - Congratulations! (BPIP Merit stat, Trust) ⭐ on: February 21, 2019, 01:54:29 PM
Crypto-DesigneService has only 42 activity count, for now.
The account does not meet the requirements of the topic to list into list of coming Full Members, who already have enough activity count to rank up, but still got 80% of required merits or higher.
8132  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk is Dying? on: February 21, 2019, 01:29:45 PM
Bitcointalk has strongly been alive, instead.
Let's be realistic. Bitcointalk is dying.

Who controled it?
Quote
But this is a controlled decrease in activity.

Wrong!
Merit system launched to wipe out spammers, but it has actually help true bitcointalkers to have a cleaner forum.
Everyone got problems with the system. Please do not infer your case or others to all forum users.
Quote
The emergence of the merit system on the forum created by moderators in order to reduce the appearance of new users and create problems for everyone else.

Less bounties during bear market makes sense, but the probable more important reasons is spammers by now nearly unable to promote to Junior Members. Then, they gave up, and stopped creating new accounts since September of 2018. Some months later, November, October, they kept creating new accounts, but they soon realized that they could not rank up anymore.

In the year 2018:
Merit system is a big revolution of bitcointalk forum.
The demotion of Junior members and new requirements on that rank is the second revolution of the forum.
Quote
Is it spam? No. You have to admit it. I don't believe anyone who sings the praises of this system. But this is not the only problem. The decline in activity in the cryptocurrency market contributed to a sharp decline in the number of new projects. Previously, each forum participant could take part in signature companies and become a member of the cryptocurrency community without money. Now it's almost impossible. I think that the forum moderators consider their mission to popularize cryptocurrencies fulfilled and the number of users will be constantly reduced.
8133  Other / Meta / Re: How can we protect Newbies from getting scammed? on: February 21, 2019, 07:00:45 AM
I can understand the feeling of that guy who lost his/ her huge money.
However, I think that the forum always have so many available helpful topics:
Most of them can be found there:
[GUIDES] on Bitcointalk. Index thread (until there is a dedicated subforum?) (LoyceV's topic).
From essential knowledge, skills, and guide to investigate scam projects.
So, I think that the forum has actually made good help for newbies, not only newbies in the forum, but also newbies in crypto.
Or this warning message, but naive and lazy guys don't care of it.
Quote
!!! WARNING: This user is a newbie. If you are expecting a message from a more veteran member, then this is an imposter !!!
As we all known and experienced, scammers are abundantly in the world, in different areas, not only in crypto.
Each person has to prepare enough knowledge, skills, and vigilance to protect his-/ her-self.

Even if the forum disable PMs, scammers will have other ways to scam.
And, more importantly, naive guys will always easily fall into scam.
It's their faults to be extremely naive.
As theymos stated there:
Honestly, I think that someone that naïve can't be protected. Even if every inch of the page had been full of warnings, he still might've fallen for it, since he wasn't even thinking about the possibility of being given evil instructions.

It is too technical complicated for me, but sounds good idea.
However, those naive and lazy guys often don't care to use Escrow. They simply want to get fastly supports/ guides.
Quote
People like him (ie. the majority of the world population) are why we'll someday want an optional sidechain or something on top of Bitcoin which has reversible transactions (via some sort of automatic 2-of-3 escrow which expires after a while, maybe).

I don't agree to the ideas of disabling PMs in the forum, because it is one of the most helpful and essential features for forum users, no matter what who they are.
The forum actually has restrictions on Newbies' ability to use PMs.

Key lesson:
Be safe first, before thinking of anything.
Think, re-think, do it repeatedly till you think it's safe to do.
Always be extremely cautious with help for strangers.

LoyceV actually made great initiatives to solve this issue.
However, I strongly believe that it is good enough to use archived for later use, rather than print hundreds of pages.
It is also one of the way to prevent environmental pollution and help our planet more sustainable.
8137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XLM] Stellar - Decentralized trading platform on: February 21, 2019, 02:28:01 AM
The partnership between Stellar and IBM known months ago, last year.
The given video simply discloses that the partnership between them has turned into real works and products months after its start.
Bright future to come for both Stellar and IBM.
BTW, thank you so much for sharing the video here.
8138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ZEN] Horizen: Bringing Privacy To Life [EX ZenCash] on: February 21, 2019, 02:14:55 AM
HitBTC is one of the biggest crypto exchanges, with very high volume per day.
The exchange gives three trading pairs, in BTC, ETH, and USDT.
Horizen's appearance on HitBTC is a really big news for our community.
The exchange will help the coin raise its daily liquidity much significantly.
Higher liquidity, lesser chances for manipulators to manipulate Horizen.
8139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PoW/MN] Gentarium (GTM) | Masternode hosting platform | Shared MN service on: February 21, 2019, 02:12:24 AM
Gentarium undoubtedly is a very good project.
It has become bigger over time, and for now is one of giants in masternode hosting services.
Gentarium continues to grow stronger by the day with more masternodes coming online and also that the team list a number of masternode projects on a weekly basis and is fast approaching 11,000 masternodes hosted on the platform.

It sounds like you have big interest in DMme coin, and its messenger platform.
I followed it too, but not sure about probabilty to get success of DMme coin project and its messenger.
Any recommendations here, vella85?
Quote
I was very happy to see DMME listed the other day as that is another project I own a masternode in.

Dumb question: do I qualify for this? Is full member a member?
Did you really spend your time to read the OP?
Or did you simply read the title of the topic and make a post?
1) Including Criteria:
- Currently are Members in the forum (Member rank).
