741  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The First Bank In Mexico Is About to Start Accepting Bitcoin on: June 29, 2021, 07:31:04 PM
The proposal was rejected, right? This is what I could find from CNBC:

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/28/mexican-billionaire-salinas-says-he-wants-to-give-his-bank-clients-access-to-bitcoin.html

Bank of Mexico shoots down billionaire Ricardo Salinas’ plans to bring bitcoin to Banco Azteca

Quote
Mexico’s central bank issued a statement Monday saying cryptocurrencies like bitcoin are not legal tender and are prohibited from being used in the country’s financial system. The comments came after Mexican billionaire Ricardo Salinas Pliego declared his intent over the weekend to make Banco Azteca the first lender in the country to do business in bitcoin.

The central bank has issued a statement, clarifying that it is prohibited to use Bitcoin (or any of the altcoins) in the banking system. Ricardo Salinas Pliego may want his bank to accept BTC. But that is not possible unless they get the approval from the Banco de México. It was much better to post this thread, after getting the confirmation.
742  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-06-27] Bitcoiner Mircea Popescu Dead By Drowning on: June 29, 2021, 07:19:20 PM
Is there any confirmation on how many coins he owned? Somewhere in this forum, I found a crazy claim that Mircea Popescu owned BTC1,000,000 in his wallets. There is not even a 0.01% chance that this is true (unless he is the real Satoshi Nakamoto). In one of the news portals, I found this claim that he had $1 billion worth of cryptocurrency with him. Now this is more believable for me. BTW, the circumstances surrounding his death sounds suspicious. What are the chances that he will venture in to a part of Playa Hermosa, which is known to be dangerous?
743  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Cryptocurrency is best for long term investment? on: June 29, 2021, 07:07:09 PM
I would still prefer Bitcoin when it comes to long-term investment. The fact that it has been developing and reaching different milestones each year is reason enough to trust it. It could even exceed the holder's expectations. Ethereum is also one of the best coins to hold and it has always been consistent. If you're looking for assurance, top coins are the best option that we could have.

For those who have been following the ETH prices for the last few months, it is very difficult to make the investment now. Back in 2020, Ethereum was trading at a range of BTC0.016-BTC0.018. The prices have increased by 3-4 times since then. I am someone who thought that the rates back in 2020 was on the higher side (I was even considering to convert some of my ETH to BTC). Now it is almost unthinkable to purchase ETH at current levels, after such a crazy bull run. The psychological barrier will always be there.
744  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: June 29, 2021, 06:43:26 PM
I do not think belgium and england wins were a surprised first of all belgium is the number one team in the fifa ranking wich means that they are strong they have good quality players and we all seen germany performance in this euro thats why i did not think they would go far in this championship.

I agree. Only the wins by Czechia and Switzerland can be considered as upset wins. Portugal was one of the tournament favorites. But their current team is more like a one man army led by Ronaldo. And England and Germany are more like equals, with recent performance giving an edge to England. Germany is the same team which suffered a humiliating defeat against North Macedonia a few months ago. And let's also not forget the fact that the match took place at the Wembley Stadium, which gave a massive advantage to England.
745  Economy / Economics / Re: Trump regrets not banning twitter as he hails Nigerian government for doing so on: June 29, 2021, 06:07:59 PM
That is the nature of Trump. Twitter should ban him for his words about the social network. He was always a difficult person to understand and did not realize his mistakes. He also tweeted about the election results and caused disunity among the American people. Maybe he should learn to use social media again.

If they want to ban Trump, then fine. They can ban him. But then the same yardstick must be applied to others. I have seen a lot of politicians in the Middle East and Asia making tweets, that can be interpreted as direct calls to genocide. But Twitter never bans them (as posted earlier, the tweet from Mahathir Mohammed is the perfect example). Now the Nigerian president got banned using the same excuse. My issue here is not that Trump or Buhari is banned by Twitter. My issue is that the same rule is not applied when Mahathir Mohammed makes a tweet supporting genocide.
746  Economy / Economics / Re: After 1 year of Covid 19 Virus on: June 29, 2021, 04:56:18 PM
I'm happy because in my city there has never been a lock down because of Covid 19, normal life activities, but in general my country has been effected by Covid 19 and has a big impact, such as no school activities, markets close at 5 pm, and so on.

How this is possible? Are you living in Sweden, where they tried the "herd immunity" approach (and failed in it)? In almost every other country, lockdown was imposed at one time or the other. I don't think that there are any exceptions. In certain countries such as Greece and Australia, I heard that lockdown was imposed for as much as 6 months. And here in India we had lockdown of 7 weeks during the first phase and then for around 1-1.5 months during the second phase (although during the second phase it was the state governments which imposed the lockdown).
747  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: June 29, 2021, 04:44:40 PM
Anyone seeing the Euro 2020 or Wimbledon being played in England. Both of these tournaments are being played with full crowd in and no one wearing any mask etc. By seeing those matches, it seems that covid-19 is only effected in India / Pakistan. We cant have any crowd in PSL matches in UAE and see how matches are being played in Europe  Huh

After a brief lull, England is once again witnessing a spike in the number of new infections. The government is concerned about the spread of the Delta variant. I would say that at this point it is premature to allow crowd in to the stadiums. Copa America is also going on now, and hundreds of cases have been reported from fans who were allowed inside the stadiums. I don't want the same to happen with cricket tournaments. Unlike football, cricket is regarded as a sport that is best watched in TV.
748  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: June 29, 2021, 04:04:51 PM
It is surprising that a draw between England and Germany is having odds greater than 3.00. In a match between two teams of equal strength, I would have thought that a draw would have more favorable odds. England may be the slight favorites, but the German defense has performed well during the group phase. IMO, I would give 50% chance for two teams having equal amount of goals against their name after the regulation time. Well.. that is unless one of the players get red card which gives the opposite team a numerical advantage (similar to what happened with Netherlands).
749  Economy / Economics / Re: Permanent residence in El Salvador for crypto entrepreneurs on: June 29, 2021, 02:15:43 PM
The cost of living is low compared to which country? Although no one from that country came forward to answer the question, that’s why we have the internet and search engines. I looked at a few sources and post some interesting information that obviously no one wants to read because it is much easier to write in general without referring to the facts.

El Salvador is not a cheap country when I compare it with some EU countries, and some things are even more expensive than here - I won't even mention the price of security at all, because it doesn't really have a price.

Obviously if you want to live in a decent neighborhood, then the cost of living would be high. Maybe the other posters are talking about living in urban slums, or remote villages. I would not prefer that option, because although the crime rate has declined recently, El Salvador has a reputation of being home to some of the most violent gangs in Latin America. Obviously, the price of security can't be measured, just as Lucius stated. If you get kidnapped by some of these gang members, then none of your savings will come to any use.
750  Economy / Economics / Re: Founders of South African Bitcoin exchange disappear after $3.6 billion 'hack' on: June 29, 2021, 02:02:43 PM
There seems to be a lot of confusion related to the Africrypt robbery. The investors claim that coins amounting to $4 billion were stolen, but Raess Cajee (one of the promoters) issued a statement claiming that there has been a hack and they lost only around $5 million worth of assets. The Africrypt users are unable to access their account or withdraw their funds. And the promoters have fled to the United Kingdom. My question is, if the promoters are correct, then why they fled from South Africa? The excuse that they received death threats is not that believable.
751  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What goes up must come down on: June 28, 2021, 07:56:25 PM
all coins will experience ups and downs as they should, you are right when you buy bitcoin at the price of 4k you have already benefited many times, it's beautiful to survive to get new ATH

Ups and downs will be there because of market fluctuations and profit booking. But if you are investing in genuine coins such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Cardano and BNB, then you can be assured that in the long term you will end up with good returns. But if you are investing in shitcoins, there is no such guarantee. If you are lucky, then you may end up with good profits. But in most of the cases, those who invest in such coins suffer huge losses. It is not unlikely to lose your entire capital on such projects.
752  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Wrapped Bitcoin, Bitcoin BEP-20 or RBTC? on: June 28, 2021, 07:22:14 PM
Rather than selecting the token based on lower transaction fee and other parameters, I would prioritize the safety aspect. And in this case I would go with Bitcoin BEP2, because it is issued by one of the most reputed cryptocurrency exchanges (Binance). Wrapped Bitcoin is issued by BitGo and therefore I would consider them as reliable as well. Also, the WBTC protocol is maintained by the DAO, which adds to the security of this token. Now coming to RBTC, I am really confused. Because I don't know much about it.

753  Economy / Economics / Re: After 1 year of Covid 19 Virus on: June 28, 2021, 07:10:44 PM
Im proud of India and its people, although at the beginning of the handling of covid there was chaos, but now it is better.  Compared to my country, which is still trying to vaccinate, the people prefer herd stupidity over herd immunity.  They even think that covid is just a conspiracy and does not exist and is not dangerous.  In fact the case of death is very real.

Even in India, there is a lot of propaganda going on against vaccination. I can show you my WhatsApp account, and it is full of spam audio messages which claim that vaccinated people are likely to die soon and they will become impotent. Unfortunately, a lot of people (mostly the illiterate ones) believe that these rumors are true and they refuse to get themselves vaccinated. And forget about India and the other third world nations. Even in developed nations such as the United States you will find large number of people who believe in such rumors.
754  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk made tweet about animal coin again. Time to buy doge and Shiba Inu? on: June 28, 2021, 06:58:39 PM
Today is Elon Musk birth day anything with new coin tweet? maybe he looks busy to make party and forget one day about which one the next coin will tweet, I think if Elon Musk always try to tweet with shiba coin maybe the next doge later. Nothing impossible with his magic tweet always win and lucky for every one entry on the early, but never try after few minutes from his tweet you loss all your money.

I don't think that he made any crypto-related tweet today. But some of his retarded followers are flooding the social media platforms with Dogefather meme tweets. And given his inconsistency, I want to see for how long his love affair with Dogecoin is going to last. I would advice everyone who is holding Doge to at least partially dump that shitcoin. The current valuation represents an increase of at least 50,000 times from the fair value. When the crash happens, Doge is going to fell like a falling knife.
755  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BNB has tokens for each Altcoin on: June 28, 2021, 06:46:28 PM
It's not a nasty move. It's like BTC to EBTC on Ethereum Blockchain. Since there is a limitation on crosshain of other Blockchain when using DEX, Exchange just introduce a proxy token which the value is pegged to the original coin. The difference is just you can't use the proxy coin function as the original but its still the same for investment purposes. This is move is not only happening on Binance alone but on most blockchain like Waves, ETH and Eos

The Binance equivalent for BTC is Bitcoin BEP2 (BTCB), and not EBTC. Wrapped Bitcoin is another coin that can be considered as Bitcoin equivalent. But eBTC is some worthless shitcoin called eBitcoin, which is worth around $0.50 per coin (I had the misfortune of investing in this coin back in 2017, but got rid of it in 2018). Anyway, I like the idea of creating tokens. In terms of safety, it is no more riskier than keeping your coins in exchange wallets. But the plus point here is that you will be able to save a lot in terms of transaction fees.

+700 in Sportsbet looks very attractive for Croatia, I need to admit. Yesterday, we had a big upset when Czechia defeated the Netherlands (although they were helped immensely by the red card to de Ligt). What if we have another upset today? The match will start in around 15 minutes from now, and I haven't yet decided whether I should place a bet or not. But I would say, even +600 looks attractive for Croatia, given the fact that the Spanish side is very inexperienced. If this was the same Croatia team of the 2006 or 2010, then I would have placed the bet without any second thought.

757  Economy / Economics / Re: Trump regrets not banning twitter as he hails Nigerian government for doing so on: June 28, 2021, 03:48:41 PM
Twitter is the tool that Trump used the most during his tenure and also what made him spread his position in the campaign to win. Maybe he's just saying it for fun, if he wakes up to banning twitter during his tenure he wouldn't have any weight at all because Americans use Twitter more often than Facebook.

Not only Trump, but most of the American politicians are dependent on social media platforms now (especially Twitter, Facebook and Instagram). Trump used his twitter account very efficiently during most of his term. But then, weeks before the election date, Twitter started flagging his posts as "manipulated media". This disrupted his campaign plans and many of his supporters believe that this cost them swing states such as Arizona, Wisconsin and Georgia. Also, both the mainstream media and the social media suppressed the news about Hunter Biden, which would have otherwise done great harm to Joe Biden's campaign.
758  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: June 28, 2021, 03:36:32 PM
Coronavirus infection in India has decreased somewhat. But still, a lot of people are getting infected every day. There is no chance that the infection will decrease very quickly. In this situation, it is not possible to organize a tournament like the World Cup in India. The decision to change the venue of the BCCI had to be taken, otherwise, the T20 World Cup would not have been held this year. So, there is nothing to think that Sourav Ganguly has a big heart.

Being an Indian, I would say that a former player like Sourav Ganguly is much more qualified to be the president of the BCCI, when compared to some of the shady guys who occupied that post previously. It is not easy to bring drastic changes to an organization which is deep rooted in corruption and nepotism such as the BCCI, but Ganguly has tried his best. And regarding the COVID situation, I agree with you. It may take a few months to get the situation here under control. Even now, the daily death toll is in excess of 1,000.
759  Economy / Economics / Re: Founders of South African Bitcoin exchange disappear after $3.6 billion 'hack' on: June 28, 2021, 02:11:58 PM
It's really time for p2p and decentralized exchange to shine seriously, until how many times people gonna get scammed again and again meanwhile if there's a trustless platform for p2p where people could trade to each other without any struggle to trust each other while also making things convenient, it should become a preferred method. These centralized exchange scamming and their owner that could get away with billions of dollar honestly is really tiring to hear. sad thing though people still gonna prefer to use cex despite all these cases.

If the trade volumes and liquidity in Dex sites are as good as the Cex platforms such as Binance and Huobi, then the users will obviously prefer the Dex sites. But from my experience, I would say that it is not very profitable to deal in these dex platforms. While I was dealing in bounty tokens, the exchange rates for the same token in Dex platforms were lower by 50% or more, when compared to the rates in Cex exchanges. On top of that, for the low volume tokens, it is very difficult to liquidate large volumes at once using Dex.
760  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: June 28, 2021, 01:59:57 PM
Croatia in previous matches showed itself not particularly aggressive, I do not think the Spaniards will lose

Spain has selected a young and relatively inexperienced team this time. And they didn't even managed to top Group E (Spain was placed second with 5 points, while Sweden finished with 7 points). But one positive for the Spanish team is that they conceded just one goal during the preliminary phase (and that was against Poland). Croatia is not looking that good, as they are overdependent on a few players. Their only big win came against Scotland (3-1). And I checked the odds.. the odds for Croatia is around +600. Not that attractive, I would say.
