761  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Plead] Phinnaeus Gage's User Moniker Manifested Due to a Malignant Brain Tumor on: April 12, 2020, 09:26:54 PM
Bruno was a really good guy. I only knew him from his interactions with him here, but he always put in effort to make people laugh. He also put in a lot of effort to try to protect the vulnerable from getting stolen from, over the years, he had gotten banned umpteen times but he would just create and/or use other accounts to continue his work and provide meaningful interactions with the community. He ended up with multiple accounts in the top rankings in terms of numbers of posts. Unlike many others, he didn’t attempt to maximize his earnings from participating here. If you ask my opinion, he genuinely cares about the bitcointalk community.

Bruno is actually the only forum member who has heard my voice. A year or two back, he was trying to prove he hadn’t sold his account and I called him to verify his phone number was still connected to him, and I vouched for him. I’ve texted, emailed and traded with other forum members but not spoken on the phone.

Based on his obituary and what he wrote, it doesn’t sounds like he was terribly suffering immediately before his death and for that I am glad.

RIP.
762  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Does Covid-19 comes from Bat or Because of Installation of 5G towers? on: April 06, 2020, 06:12:36 PM
The Video Explains also, that 5g Towers with 60 ghz causes Respiratory Failure in other words NCOV or Covid-19.

Does it also explain how people who are nowhere near towers are getting it? For example, Iran is one of the hardest-hit countries, but it has no 5G.

Yes, it has been told, that People who are near 5G Towers are prone to that disease " Respiratory failure" and I think Iran has no exception to it even thou they don't have 5G towers but that case is also a "Question".

Meanwhile, the answers of the other members to this post is quite informational.

On the other Hand, if 5G towers causes Respiratory failure that transforms to a deadly virus (Covid-19) then it should be stopped as soon as possible.

However, This case is still a conspiracy Theory.

-Illuminate me.
5G towers tend to be located in densely populated areas. Densely populated areas will result in the coronavirus spreading more quickly because people are closer together. So yes, if you are near a 5G tower there is a higher chance you will get coronavirus, but not because of the tower.
763  Other / Meta / Re: Identifying alts using posted addresses on: April 06, 2020, 03:52:43 PM
I can assure you that what you describe has happened years ago, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it continues to happen. Luckily, in the above case, the imposter made a mistake, although that could have been by design.

One way to prevent yourself from falling for this is to confirm that whatever was received was valuable and was actually spent. The order addresses were posted may allow you to rule out an impostor. Someone trying to attract attention is a good indicator they are an imposter.

You really need to think critically when deciding if a posted addresses is evidence that two accounts are alts.
764  Other / Meta / Re: [BitCoinTalk][COVID-19] Grim Reality on: March 26, 2020, 01:34:32 AM
Can we please have a sensible discussion of this issue and any solutions to identifying UID's that fall silent during this period and are potentially hacked/brought back to life later?

For the purposes of the forum, I don't see how this would differ from business-as-usual handling of the issue. You're making too many assumptions. If there's mass extinction, I guarantee you we'll have more important things to worry about than whether bitcointalk accounts are hacked or not.

I have Glioblastoma, given ~2 months to live. I am currently at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas, under quarantine for Coronavirus,
Oh wow, that is not good.

I always enjoyed reading your posts, even if they did sometimes break the rules -- you always had a certain level of energy and enthusiasm in your writing. I also know that at least in your forum related dealings, you would always do the right thing, and would always push for the right thing. I have no reason to doubt you were any different IRL.

It really sucks you have to live your presumptive last days under lockdown due to the coronavirus. I hope you are able to experience something that brings you at least some amount of joy in your last days.

God bless, bud!
765  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin Discussion - Corona Virus Spamming on: March 25, 2020, 06:25:58 PM
The Covid19 is a major world issue right now affecting nearly every single person right now. I suspect that over half the world population is on some kind of lockdown or restrictions because of Covid19.

I think I would suspect many threads about this topic to appear both in P&S and elsewhere (that are correctly posted).

I do wish that more would be done to fight the misinformation about Covid19. Perhaps the forum could donate an ad spot to a link to an authoritative source about good information.

I would not be worried about CFs ability to handle additional capacity. I would be more worried about the forum’s servers being able to handle the additional demand, however the privacy policy implies cloud services (such as, or similar to AWS) and they are very scalable.

Theymos recently posted that he had symptoms of coronavirus, but says he is feeling better, so it is possible he is under quarantine orders, or is staying home to avoid infecting others even if not ordered to do so. If the capacity to handle traffic is needing to be increased, Cyrus may need to handle it.

That's some scary-ass quarantine without internet access. I wonder how theymos managed to sneak that one post out, maybe bribed a guard with some TP.
Having internet access is not the same as having access to forum infrastructure if it is separate from his house and/or if he keeps whatever he needs to access the infrastructure off site.

Also if he is sick, he may go to a hospital if he gets worse. I obviously don’t wish that on him or anyone, but I am also aware of the risk of that happening.

My suspicion is he intends to trade with himself (his alt) so he can build trust with his alt accounts. If he has a successful trade with pretty much anyone, but especially with someone without a trading history, no trade actually took place.
770  Economy / Reputation / Re: PSA: Covert agents manipulate, deceive, and DESTROY REPUTATIONS on: March 13, 2020, 06:49:17 PM
I think it is very unlikely that intelligence agencies are using newbie accounts to smear the reputations of forum members within bitcointalk.

I would respond to this theory with the question of why would a 3-letter agency want to do something like this?

Most of the forum community is made up of people wearing paid sig ads who talk about bitcoin to earn money from their sig ads. My guess is the worst most of these people have done is not report income on their sig ad payments, but that the majority of them will report this income (perhaps using the incorrect forms, etc, but still paying the correct amount). If this was the case, the amounts involved would be a few hundred dollars in unpaid taxes per person, at most -- not really amounts that intelligence agencies would be interested in getting involved in.

Another large part of the community is those who use bitcoin to gamble. My guess is these people are harmless, and again intelligence agencies are probably not interested in these people.

A third large community on bitcointalk is the altcoin community, however bitcointalk is really not a major platform to launch altcoins, and there are other platforms that altcoins are frequently launched on, and promoted. Certain bitcointalk-specific policies have prevented bitcointalk from being a major altcoin related platform.

The development of bitcoin is largely done off bitcointalk, and most bitcoin devs are not even forum members.

Forum polices prevent really bad types of business from being conducted, such as disallowing illegal transactions that are not legal in the country of the buyer or seller.

I do find it interesting that a newbie account would post something that essentially says to not trust newbie accounts because they might be intelligence agencies.

If bitcoin drops below $5,500, I'll delete this entire thread. Bring it, bears!
Welp.

We just broke $5k not long after breaking $6k that has historically been a floor. Remember how many times btc bounced off 6k in 2018?
772  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 12, 2020, 04:36:44 PM
Did bitcoin catch the coronavirus this morning? It went down 1,000 points in like 30 minutes.

Damn, you serious.... didn’t notice that one....
I don’t think we have seen swings like that with no underlying news related to bitcoin in a long time.

774  Economy / Reputation / Re: Lauda = scammer / extortionist - nullius = twat double standards cheater on: March 10, 2020, 08:02:53 PM
So since it is undeniable that lauda the scammer lied that the was no instamine with xcoin/dark because he had bags of it to dump on others.

Do you have evidence of any of the following:

1 - That Lauda said that xcoin/dark(?) is not an instamine coin

2 - That Lauda had xcoin/dark (how did he get it would also be useful information)

3 - That xcoin/dark was an instamine coin (I am not familiar with this coin, and am really not even sure which coin you are referring to).

Did you guys create a thread just to say your campaign is closed?
776  Other / Meta / Re: Seeking Clarification On Doxing Rule on: March 08, 2020, 03:23:11 AM
I'm gonna dox QS.

There I did it.

Oh, no. My picture is on the internet! Was that your tracking device I found in my sleeve?

Please remove my dox.

If you don’t like what he is saying, your choices are 1) get his concerns addressed, 2) ignore him, 3) make an argument as to why he is wrong. (Note that calling out alleged hypocrisy is not in this list).

Thank goodness you can't force that choice on me.  Try reading the thread, or at least the post right above yours.

You didn’t open this thread, so I don’t think you are trying to get him banned.

I do think that life is way too short to feuding with TS as much as you do. Who cares if you are right or not, or if you “win”. I don’t see anything meaningful that you will possibly get out of any feud with him. Go for a hike, relax on your back porch, do something else relaxing, do something more enjoyable.

I don’t think TS is going to hurt anyone.

In the past, he had a problem with off topic posts to air his grievances, but that has not been an issue for quite some time now.
Are you really sure about that? Many threads have been infected, i.e. turned partially to discussing his nonsense only after he made off topic posts about it.
Yes, I’m sure. I have been following his posts in various threads and I don’t think they are off topic and he is not the one causing any tangents.
778  Other / Meta / Re: Tecshare is trolling!??? on: March 06, 2020, 09:26:24 PM
With specific regards to the activity that will get you banned from the forum, he is not trolling and it would be inappropriate for him to be banned.

In the past, he had a problem with off topic posts to air his grievances, but that has not been an issue for quite some time now. I would argue this should factor in his favor (correcting previous rule breaking) if there was ever a serious question as to if he should be banned.

If you don’t like what he is saying, your choices are 1) get his concerns addressed, 2) ignore him, 3) make an argument as to why he is wrong. (Note that calling out alleged hypocrisy is not in this list).

779  Other / Meta / Re: Seeking Clarification On Doxing Rule on: March 06, 2020, 09:19:43 PM
I know that nearly all forum members are in that picture. I am not sure if we have any astronaut forum members, so I don’t if if all of them are in that picture.

How high of a resolution would that picture have to be?      There is no one in that picture you posted.   Maybe one on a Chinese supercomputer, but not here.
They are in the picture. Just because your computer lacks the processing power to see individual forum members doesn’t mean they aren’t there.  Tongue
