761  Economy / Economics / Re: George Soros and Bezos have paid almost zero taxes on: June 28, 2021, 01:47:05 PM
Indeed, it often happens, those with poor mentality think that everything in life is supported by a conspiracy.  No one gets rich without stealing and cheating but there are many better things to do than think that way.  However, this condition will continue to occur because even though the rich and the poor start from 0, the mentally rich will rack their brains to get their wealth while the poor will be busy mocking the hard work of others.

What sort of hard work is involved in tax evasion? You can't divert the discussion by mocking those who speak the truth. There is a reason why people are upset with billionaires such as Bill Gates and Bezos, and not that much with people like Elon Musk. The topic here is Bill Gates using the charity loophole, to avoid paying a tax bill of $20 billion. I would call this as tax evasion or tax avoidance. IMO, if Bill Gates want to spend his wealth on charity, then he is free to do so. But first, he need to pay tax as per the prevailing long term capital gains tax rate. Here he has paid $0 in tax, because he moved all his shares to a charity foundation. All sort of excuses are being given by his supporters. But none of them makes sense. There are a lot of billionaires out there, who became rich as a result of hard work. But not all of them do tax evasion like Bill Gates.

The long wait has ended. Sourav Ganguly (president of the BCCI) has made an official announcement about shifting the T20 World Cup to UAE. Under current circumstances, everyone knew that it was impossible to hold the tournament in India. But BCCI was delaying their decision, hoping for some last minute miracle. Anyway, I hope that the ICC will come up with the complete schedule within a few days now. Hopefully all the uncertainty surrounding the tournament will end now and it will be co-hosted by Oman and the UAE.
763  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: June 27, 2021, 05:41:14 PM
What the heck, the Czech managed to do it while I was writing.

Big mistake from Matthijs de Ligt. He got the red card when almost 40 minutes were remaining in the match. And from what I can see, the Dutch are in a dilemma. They badly need a goal to at least equalize. But if they try too hard, then it will weaken their defense and the Czech players will be able to extend the lead further. BTW, a lot of delays going on. I won't be surprised even if the injury time is extended by 10 minutes.

Edit: Czechia scores another goal. Now they are up 2-0 and in all probability they will face Denmark on 3rd July. The red card completely changed the match situation. Because until then Netherlands had the upper hand.
764  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: June 27, 2021, 05:26:24 PM
~~
Now De Ligt has been sent off with a red card. Hard times for the Netherlands.

So it is going to be 11 member Netherlands vs 10 member Czechia. The Dutch will be able to defend their goalpost. But scoring a goal is going to be much difficult now, with reduced strength. And from what I can see, the Czech players have stepped up their offensive. They don't want this game to go in to the penalties. But the danger for the Czech players is complacency. The Dutch can be dangerous, even with just 10 players. And all it takes is just one goal. And so many times we have seen in this tournament, goals being scored off counter-attacks.
765  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: June 27, 2021, 02:51:53 PM
I agree with you. The Indian team is very confident. It's good to be confident, and we should all be confident in ourselves. But the players of the Indian team are overconfident. They must have played a warm-up match before playing against a strong opponent like New Zealand. India's squad is very strong, but one must have an idea about the strength of the opponent.

Perhaps they didn't took the World Test Championship seriously enough? Although the name is "World Test Championship", in the media there was very little hype. It was played over a period of 3 years and didn't achieved a good viewership count in India. Perhaps for the Indian team, the IPL and the T20 World Cup was more of a priority. The bigger issue here is that the test format is witnessing sharp decline in interest from the fans, irrespective of all the desperate measures which the ICC is trying to put in.
766  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: June 27, 2021, 02:31:19 PM
Is this the worst Czech Republic team and the best Dutch team to call it the most shocking in history? I can only imagine your reaction if the Czech manage to win. I bet that would be fun to watch.

Netherlands won all of their matches and managed to collect 9 points in the group stage, but at times they were unimpressive. They won against Ukraine just because of luck (with a 3-2 margin). Before the start of the tournament, I heard a lot about Memphis Depay and Georginio Wijnaldum. But so far I didn't saw anything superhuman from them. I checked the odds, and I have to say that the sportsbooks have underestimated Czechia. They deserve better odds, especially after their good performance against England.
767  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: June 27, 2021, 02:16:00 PM
The West Indies are a great team in the T20 format. The main reason for this seems to be that they have a lot of energy  Grin. The South African team is but experienced enough. The performance of the West Indies against them is very commendable. West Indies batsmen have scored 161 runs in just 15 overs. Evin Lewis's innings of 71 runs off 35 balls was outstanding.

There is no doubt that West Indies is one of the strongest T20 teams. But their strength is in their batting. I am talking about players such as Pollard, Gayle, Russell, Pooran and Lewis. But their bowling is quite ordinary. The best T20 bowlers in the world right now are all non-West Indian - Chris Jordan, Rashid Khan, Kyle Jamieson, Pat Cummins, Kagiso Rabada.etc. But then, I have to agree that cricket is a batsmen's game (and T20 format even more so). If bowlers like Jason Holder and Andre Russell can provide enough support, then West Indies will be invincible in the world cup.
768  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Dumps to $32K as China’s Bank Announced a Ban on Crypto Usage on: June 27, 2021, 01:41:58 PM
How many times does China bans bitcoin since the last halving?

People are still buying this news? What a weak hands but no matter what they do bitcoin is still in the range of $30k, it hasn't been dropping below that. I don't know if they want to drop bitcoin below $30k or they were just eager for the bear market to show up.

Imagine if successfully made to break the strong support, we will be seeing a downward movement until it drops to where it want to stop. It's basically cleaning those weak-hands who can't hodl.

China is just a trigger and the whales are trying to manipulate the market using it. Individual users (especially the relatively inexperienced ones) are vulnerable to FUD and panic selling. The whales are using this opportunity to make these users dump their coins at cheap levels. And at the same time, they are accumulating coins without making much of a noise. The situation is similar to what we had in mid-2017, a few months before the crazy bull run took Bitcoin to an ATH level of $20,000 per coin.
769  Economy / Economics / Re: Founders of South African Bitcoin exchange disappear after $3.6 billion 'hack' on: June 27, 2021, 01:17:43 PM
Because it was probably an inside job as a lot of the users in this forum is speculating. Also, this smells like a big conspiracy because I have read in the other thread about this "exit scam" that a bank was speculated to be also part of this scam.

LOL.. you still have doubt about it? It has been confirmed that the two promoters (Ameer and Raees Cajee) have now landed in the United Kingdom. They made careful planning about the whole episode. They fooled the investors in to believing that the coins could be recovered if they don't inform the police immediately. Using this opportunity, the two promoters fled South Africa and landed in a country which is regarded as a paradise for financial scammers. The investors need to be blamed here. If they had informed the police, then these two would have been in prison now.
770  Economy / Economics / Re: Antivirus Pioneer John McAfee Commits Suicide on: June 27, 2021, 12:49:30 PM
Very unfortunate that it reaches this point, even though Mcafee has a bad side he is one of the early promoters of Bitcoin adoption, he made headlines when he told the world that Bitcoin will reach $1 million, it's very unfortunate to read that he commit suicide maybe because of loneliness, he never gets to spend his remaining years in a good way.

Dude, you don't know what you are talking about. John McAfee was not one of the early promoters of Bitcoin. He jumped in to the cryptocurrency bandwagon, only after Bitcoin became popular. And he did more harm than good, by promoting altcoins instead of Bitcoin. And although his $1 million prediction attracted some attention, it actually made cryptocurrency users a laughing stock in front of others. He just pulled out a random number, and gave no justification to his prediction. It actually made a lot of people to think that cryptocurrency is a scam.
771  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Prices are low, time to buy some good coin!! on: June 27, 2021, 12:37:08 PM
Compared to its price a month ago it's very low, but FUDERS keeps spreading FUDS so the market will go down further, so they can buy cheap after they bought the FUDS will stop and the market will start to grow again, just don't believe that it's the end they can spread FUDS but on your part, you just have to contend on your portfolio as long as it's a good portfolio you are sure of profit.

Even after all these years, if the investors and traders still fall victim to the FUD that is floating around, then they have only themselves to blame. Ever since Bitcoin went mainstream in 2013, panic selling has caused more loss when compared to any other factor for the cryptocurrency investors. And despite the cycle repeating dozens of times, I can see at least a section of the investors going ballistic every time when the prices go down. Actually I don't understand this. Why can't they treat BTC like any other asset? No one sells his equity or bullion coins, when prices go down by 10% or 20%. Why not show the same amount of patience with BTC?
772  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk made tweet about animal coin again. Time to buy doge and Shiba Inu? on: June 27, 2021, 12:25:09 PM
On June 28, Elon Musk will celebrate his birthday. And I am sure that on this occasion an attempt will be made to launch some kind of shitcoin to the moon. It is possible that such a coin will once again become doge or Shiba Inu. For those who hold these coins, bought at a high price, there may be an opportunity to part with them at the upcoming pump.

If you are so confident about these shitcoins, then go ahead and invest in them. Being an investor in cryptocurrency for the last 4.5 years, I have never seen long term investment in overhyped coins resulting in good returns. But I really hope that in your case there will be an exception. But always remember what happened in 2018, when the price of these coins went down by 98% to 99%. I am not saying that 2018 is going to repeat, but what happened back then needs to be studied by everyone who is investing in cryptocurrency nowadays.
773  Economy / Economics / Re: Permanent residence in El Salvador for crypto entrepreneurs on: June 27, 2021, 12:13:05 PM
This is tempting but we have to remember that when the businesses go there, they will be considered as crypto pioneers and at the same time a crypto guinea pig for other businesses to see if moving to El Salvador is going to be a success and it is an uncertain future because their growth is in parallel with the growth of bitcoin economy in El Salvador.

I would have moved to El Salvador, but the high crime rate and the language issues deter me. Here in India, the cryptocurrency users are facing a lot of harassment from the government due to the vague status of Bitcoin. I think the best thing for people like me to do would be to wait for another couple of years, so that more countries would legalize cryptocurrency. And who knows? We may get the option of moving to an English-speaking country with low crime rates. After waiting for so long, it doesn't hurt to wait for another 2 years.
774  Economy / Economics / Re: Trump regrets not banning twitter as he hails Nigerian government for doing so on: June 27, 2021, 12:01:05 PM
Nothing announces you don't have the slightest clue what you're talking about like trying to claim Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos are ultra-leftist, lmao.  I mean, Zuckerberg is such an obvious leftist, Facebook's political action committeehas given more money to republicans than democrats in every election cycle since 2012. What a classic ultra-leftist move to give more money to the party that is the exact opposite of what you supposedly believe in!  And who can forget Bezos' ultra-leftist power move of seeking to minimize union efforts at all costs at Amazon?

You take the clown makeup off before posting your deranged conspiracy nonsense, or nah?

The beauty of socialism is that a lot of people support it, as long as it doesn't affect them. Bezos support higher taxes for the middle class and other leftist initiatives, but when it comes to his own business he would like to keep socialism at an arms distance. The same can be said about taxation as well. Bezos support high taxes, but using various loopholes, both him and his company (Amazon) have paid tax at a rate which is much lower than the others. Zuckerberg's political leanings are very clear, and you just need to take the list of group and individual pages banned by Facebook before the POTUS elections of 2020.
775  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: June 25, 2021, 07:42:12 AM
Apart from being arrogant, he is also jinxed, every important tournament final he has lost yet he still comes out on the field as if he is the only crusader for team India. I do not know what his problem is but he thinks he is the one  Grin

Not sure which player can replace this guy as a captain but Rohit Sharma would be my first choice.

Rohit Sharma is even more arrogant when compared to Kohli. But in his case at least we can say that he know how to behave in public, unlike Kohli who behave like a baboon in the field. The same is the case with the other potential options, such as Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya. Anyway, until Kohli retires from the game (that may happen after 7-8 years), there is no chance that someone else will come up as the permanent captain in any of the three formats. Kohli will never resign by himself, and no one else have the courage to demand that he should step down.
776  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: June 25, 2021, 07:23:43 AM
So much uncertainty due to the pandemic and still ICC wants to have 8 global events! they have not yet decided about the venue they should think about successfully hosting the T20 world cup first and then think about the future. Small boards will always support it as they need revenue but who know whether these events will happen or not next year.

I am in favor of the ICC's proposal. What they are suggesting is to have 4 T20 World Cups (one every two years), 2 ODI world cups (every 4 years) and 2 Champions Trophy ODI tournaments (every four year). The BCCI and ECB is not in favor of this and they want the global events to be reduced to 4 (T20 World Cup every 4 year, ODI world cup every 4 year). Also the BCCI want to extent the IPL window from existing 2 months to 3 months. ECB and CA are in favor, as many of their players are participating in the IPL and a part of the revenues go to them as well. Other countries are not gaining from the IPL, so they are opposed to these proposals.
777  Economy / Economics / Re: Founders of South African Bitcoin exchange disappear after $3.6 billion 'hack' on: June 24, 2021, 06:02:29 PM
They should have hinted that there is something wrong when the exchange themselves instructed the investors to not alert the authorities. On thefts and hacks with such a huge amount as this one, the last thing you want to do is to give enough time for the hackers to hide their tracks and do some preparations to disappear. In this case, those who knew that there is something happening doesn't do anything, and coerced other people to do the same. This has to be an inside job, and someone has to pay for it. $3.6 billion is no joke.

Africrypt claims that Raees Cajee founded the exchange in 2013, when he was just 13 years old (now he is 20). That itself sounds fishy to me. Is it possible for a 13-year old to set up a cryptocurrency exchange, when significant capital is needed for startup costs? They first announced about the hack in April (although it happened many months prior to that). This is the second major scam involving cryptocurrency in South Africa, with the first one being in 2020 when Mirror Trading International went down with BTC23,000 of client funds.

Multan Sultans are off to a strong start, but they need to increase the run rate. They are 83/2 after 11 overs. Both the openers are now back in pavilion (Shan Masood and Mohammad Rizwan). Although the scoring rate is low, I was unimpressed with the Peshawar bowlers. A score of 180 plus looks likely and that should be enough for Multan, given their strong bowling lineup (Tanvir, Tahir, Muzarabani.etc).

Sri Lanka has chose to bat against England. Sam Billings and David Willey are in for England. Buttler and Woakes are out due to injury.

Quadrangular T20 tournament ongoing in Sofia (Bulgaria). In the first match Bulgaria defeated Serbia by 61 runs. Hristo Lakov and Dimo Nikolov took two wickets each for Bulgaria, while Slobodan Tosic made 38 for Serbia. In the second match, Greece made 157/8 (Pavel Florin - 2 wickets). Romania are 72/2 after 6 overs.

Looking at Virat Kohli's behavior, I think he is still young. In Kohli’s nature, more seriousness has to be brought. He is the captain of a big team like India. He should learn from Dhoni or Sachin. I don't think he will ever be able to have a personality like Dhoni.

He's no longer young. He's in his mid 30s, and we expect him to be more mature. Dhoni and Sachin were mild natured guys, so we can't compare Virat with them. One good comparison may be with Sourav Ganguly (who is regarded as the most aggressive captain of the Indian team before Kohli). But while Ganguly was aggressive, he was never disrespectful or arrogant. Also, no one ever complained that Ganguly was biased. On the other hand, Kohli is more like a bully, rather then being aggressive. On top of that, he is accused of bias towards RCB players such as Saini and Siraj.

It is not a disadvantage because all of this players are used to playing under pressure in full stadiums. So this will be a boost for England. Germany played awful against Hungary and o most got knocked out it will be intresting too see what will happen in that match

The match will take place in Wembley, the home of football. England will be having a huge home advantage. Germany is the same team which lost pathetically to North Macedonia a few months back (although recently they won against Portugal by a big margin). I see zero chance for a win by Germany. No matter how attractive the odds are, I am not going to make a bet in their favor. And at least for me, the odds are not even attractive. Most of the sportsbooks have Germany between +190 and +200.
