801  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Oxprotocol - SCAM - FAKE TEAM - stealing people's identity on: November 14, 2018, 08:46:35 PM

the CEO. Will Warren,  git: https://github.com/willwarren89

I do not know what it is oxprotocol.website . But if they trying to copy the name, it is clearly a scam attempt.
802  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 14, 2018, 05:15:44 PM
Jihan is reported to have said a few hours ago regarding the BCH fork, "I have no intention to start a hash war with CSW, because if I do (by relocating hash power from btc mining to bch mining), btc price will dump below yearly support; it may even breach $5000. But since CSW is relentless, I am all in to fight till death!" I think he or someone aligned with him dumped on low volume in order to send some kind of message, though I'm not sure what that message is supposed to be: there really shouldn't be much fundamental relationship between hash power and prices except insofar as it causes technical issues (eg. slow blocks -> higher fees), but no BTC issues seem likely here.

Great when the topic has information in a panic moment. Even if it is not good information, bring some rationality to a sudden movement like what happened helps you to think better and plan the next actions.

803  Other / Meta / Re: New board in altcoin? on: November 14, 2018, 03:12:05 AM
There is a difference between sites that accept cryptocurrencies as a means of payment and websites that are built directly on blockchain platforms like Ethereum and EOS. The so-called dApps.

The idea is that these platforms can support a variety of games and gambling using smart contracts. I think it's about these dApps that op would like to have an exclusive section. But I may be wrong.
804  Other / Meta / Is this a scam attempt? on: November 14, 2018, 03:05:00 AM
This guy copied and pasted several emails from Satoshi in this topic. But he put a Bitcoin address different from the address on the original email that you could check on Wall Street Journal.

The address he used 1ABLqJG8GC3qQyY8hZrQXWB2m2TzhNLHMs

The address on the original emails 1NSwywA5Dvuyw89sfs3oLPvLiDNGf48cPD.

Do some people modify Satoshi's messages with different addresses in an attempt to receive some bitcoins?
805  Economy / Auctions / Auction: space for link in my profile. 0,0003 BTC for two weeks. ($2,00USD) on: November 13, 2018, 05:02:43 PM
I'm auctioning the link space on my profile. I have sold this space in the past, so I believe it has some value and I would like to test that price. It seems to me that it can be useful for SEO / SEM, because bitcoinTalk has a good positioning when searching for Bitcoin. In addition to the possibility of affiliate links. Payment can be in BTC or ETH.

Rules:

No scams or shady businesses.
I have the right to reject bids or advertisements. You can offer a different one of course.
I have the right to shorten, extend, restart or cancel the auction at any point in time.
If the service turns out to be a scam, I'll remove the link and your money will not be refunded.
The auction winner must provide payment and the link within 24 hours of a request via PM.

from mprep

The minimum bid is 0,0003 BTC

An example of the last time I sold my profile link:
Hello,

We're buying "website title" and "website url" fields of your profile. It's located it in your Forum Profile Information page.

Payment in ETH

if merit under 10 0.01$ in ETH per post / month.

if merit 10 or above 0.02$ in ETH per post / month.

806  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: One cent crypto coins on: November 13, 2018, 04:01:39 PM
I believe that instead of looking at the individual value of each currency, you should look through the marketcap. Even if you do not consider it a good comparison, it is the simplest.

Therefore, I would consider projects that are worth less than 10 million in marketcap today.

  • Coins that are exchanged in at least 1 large exchange.
  • Having well-known developers
  • Have at least 1 known investor or director
  • Have an ANN topic on BitcoinTalk that is not tainted with bots or spam
  • Have a busy and always updated Git
  • Have a clear roadmap with short, medium and long term goals.
  • No promises out of reality.
  • liquidity to buy and sell

You can use bitscreener to put some parameters. I put coins that are worth less than 10 million in mktcap, that have been in existence for more than 3 months and with a negotiated volume of more than 10,000.
807  Economy / Currency exchange / I have $160 on my payoneer account. I Want BTC or ETH (1:1) on: November 13, 2018, 03:30:19 PM
I have 160,00 USD on my payoneer account and want exchange for BTC, ETH or ADA. I want exchange only 1:1 using preev.com rate or Binance

Payoneer is not the same as PayPal. So please, pay attention.

No newbies, escrow only if you pay for. If you have trust or is well know in the forum, I could send first.
808  Other / Meta / Re: Where to run a spam free bounty campaign? [new board?] on: November 13, 2018, 01:19:26 AM
The bounty section could have an auction. The process could be similar to that of announcing in the forum. Every week, the first 3 pages would be auctioned. And the posts would get a pin, in the order of the auctions. This way, only projects that spend some value would fill the front pages in an organized way. No need for these bump services.

As it would be an auction, probably with small values it would be possible to announce. And only projects that are total scams would be left out.

811  Other / Meta / Re: New board in altcoin? on: November 12, 2018, 10:49:43 PM
Could we have a new process of choosing new boards?

There is a certain demand for some new boards, especially those related to altcoins, like this one for gambling. I wish I could write on an exclusive board of altcoins that are traded on the major exchanges. Instead of a board that accepts comments on everything, including projects that do not exist.
812  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Proof Of Transaction "kills POW and POS" on: November 12, 2018, 06:28:16 PM
This topic belongs to the altcoins section. Or rather, the shitcoins section. This "kil" title is just a clickbait. The reality is that this is another token ( ERC-20) with a paper without major technical specifications. And an account that serves only to shill creating various topics about this project that no one knows or discusses about.

814  Other / Meta / Re: I've been looking at the posters in some old threads on: November 12, 2018, 05:15:12 AM
I think some users left because they were interested in other projects. Although altcoins are a very important part of the ecosystem, and the most important projects were born in the forum, sections related to altcoins are impossible to be used nowadays. Others left during the civil wars of the Bitcoin that took place.

And the forum has also not been modernized to attract or keep users who like to debate. There were several other forums about hobbies that were used a lot 2 years ago and are disappearing. Mobile ate the world. And there are far more practical apps to use to discuss things than forums.

So, I believe that fixing some things that are wrong on the forum could be more important than calling people back without changing anything.
815  Other / Meta / Re: Ranking based on Merit received by distinct users. on: November 11, 2018, 01:59:05 PM
Could someone combine this with the other statistics about users who received merits in most different sections?
816  Other / Meta / Re: Is the new ERA of merit dying again? on: November 11, 2018, 03:04:16 AM
No new Hero or legendary in the last two months. Sad

Probably. But it must also be retribution.

818  Economy / Services / Re: [SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN] ETHERMIUM - SENIOR - [CFNP] on: November 10, 2018, 02:13:03 AM
Hello narukami. I believe most people left this campaign to go to other ones.
Let's keep it for some more weeks as funds were not all spend? Wink

I think everyone thought it was over. I even sent a message to the manager and he said it was over. Now I do not know if I misread it.  Sad
819  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-11-09]SEC fines the owner of decentralized cryptocurrency exchange EtherDe on: November 09, 2018, 07:53:15 PM
SEC fines the owner of decentralized cryptocurrency exchange EtherDelta $388K, prompting fears of further enforcement action against crypto trading platformsFind

The Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) settlement with the founder of EtherDelta is likely the first of many enforcement actions to come against crypto token exchanges.

Until recently, the SEC's scrutiny of the cryptocurrency industry largely focused on projects and teams that raised money through initial coin offerings (ICOs) in possible violation of securities laws. But a person familiar with the SEC's thinking told CoinDesk Thursday that crypto trading platforms have become a significant priority for the agency's enforcement division.

As such, the news that the SEC had charged EtherDelta founder Zachary Coburn with operating an unregistered securities exchange can be seen as a shot across the bow of token-trading platforms.

"At this point, if you're doing an exchange of crypto assets, dealing with U.S. persons, you probably need to get either a no-action letter or get clarity from counsel about whether you are implicating securities laws," said Andrew Hinkes, an adjunct professor at the New York University School of Law.

And while the EtherDelta action was the SEC's first against a crypto exchange, Hinkes told CoinDesk:

"I'm surprised it took this long."

Further, the case shows that even if so-called decentralized exchanges (DEXs) cannot be easily shut down, that does mean no one will be held liable for their activities. Without admitting or denying the charges, Coburn agreed to pay a total of $388,000 in penalties, disgorgement and interest under the settlement.

"This tells you that an exchange that used a distributed set of nodes instead of a centralized server isn't going to be treated any differently," Hinkes said. "Just because you make it and then it gets operated by a decentralized network of others doesn't mean that any prospective responsibility or liability is gone. It's just possibly relocated."

And notably, the action was taken against Coburn even though he left EtherDelta in late 2017. The trades of ethereum-based tokens on the platform cited by SEC took place between July 12, 2016 and December 17, 2017, around the time of his departure.

"It doesn't matter whether you sell the business or operated it a year ago or a few years ago," said Preston Byrne, a partner at the law firm Byrne & Storm, P.C. "American securities laws are going to be enforced."

On the other hand, it's also telling that Coburn's penalty was merely a low-six-figure fine. He wasn't banned from participating in capital markets, in part because he cooperated with the SEC, which wants other individuals running or planning to run similar platforms to reach out to the agency first.

"The entrepreneur, in this case, cooperated fully with the commission, which is often a good idea," Byrne said. "It shows the SEC is willing to work with people who are willing to work with them."
