801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some great news about Bitcoin & Co acceptance - Germany as a fore runner! on: March 28, 2018, 08:52:40 PM
This news gives me hope.
Germany always plays a key role in group of twenty (G20). And G20 members will have a disscussion about cryptocurrencies in July and probably it is supposed to regulate cryptocurrecies.
Germany might convince other countries to accept bitcoin.
First there was Japan, but Japan is far away from Europe.
Now it's Germany, which has a great influence in the European Union, so I also hope that this will help the mass adoption of bitcoin and the blockchain systems. German regulations can be a standard for other countries, if they don't want to create their own rules, because those regulations are not too strict.
802  Economy / Exchanges / Re: My bank doesnt allow transfers to kraken. Recommend me a payment processor. on: March 28, 2018, 08:44:09 PM
I have a business bank account.
My bank declined my transfer to kraken saying that crypto is too risky.

It's very complicated to open another business account because i am living abroad.
I am looking for other solutions like a payment processor.

I heard that transferwise stopped accepting crypto related bank transfers.

What other processors work with kraken?
I heard about revolut, mistertango and advcash but i am not sure whhich is best.
I need a business account with one of them and anonymity would be nice too Smiley
I think anonymity and business account won't work at the same time... but someone with more experience will correct me if it's possible.
Why not to try another wallet provider e.g. XAPO, or some other bigger ones?
Hopefully they are not banned, because they are not exchanges. They will let you use wire transfer to buy bitcoin and after you can send your bitcoins to the exchange directly. Just check before if those wallet providers needs you to identify yourself fully or not.
I'm not familiar with business accounts, so I can be completly wrong...
803  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Understanding Lightning Network using an Abacus on: March 27, 2018, 08:34:21 PM
https://medium.com/@kingonly/understanding-lightning-network-using-an-abacus-daad8dc4cf4b

I’ve received a lot of positive feedback following my previous article, Lighting Network is the Future of Bitcoin. However, while reading some of the feedback, it became clear to me that some people don’t fully understand how Lightning Network (LN) actually works. In this article, I tried to demystify the concept behind LN and its payment channels using an abacus as a metaphor, without getting into the technical specifics of LN implementation.

Good idea to use that abacus to demonstrate the Lightning Network to the people. I think the hardest part of the LN model for most of the people is to understand that they don't need to open/close a channel each time they want to transact, if the channel is used in both directions. The concept of the Lightning network is ready for years now but people still don't have a clue about the whole thing, they are only waiting for it, because they think it will solve all problems of bitcoin. Education is really needed...
804  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to prevent a coin thief on: March 27, 2018, 08:20:02 PM
there is another loss of coins, and this time the thief runs away again, asking for advice on how to avoid being taken by others Angry
There are some way I use to be hacked you can refer
1. Use anti-virus software (Best is kaspersky)
2. When accessing the wallet, if you do not transfer coin, you should just use the wallet address to check the coin
3. Do not click into strange links, less search on google.
4. Mark your favorite sites like coinmarketcap, myetherwallet to avoid false links
5. Save the privatekey in the machine should be unrelated file name like doreamon, songoku ....
+ should add numbers like 0000 in the private key wallet
+ should compress the private key file and set the password
Or just use a hardware wallet and you don't need to save/compress/password protect anything on your PC. Just save your seed for the wallet and you'll be able to recreate your wallet in case of need. It's easier to protect your seed, if you don't have an electronic copy of it, just use paper and pen, write it down, make several copies and store them safely. You can laminate the paper if you want, to make it more durable and you can use a cryptosteel kind of solution in case you want to prevent it from fire too.
805  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: German National Tourist Board will accept Bitcoin ? on: March 26, 2018, 08:50:40 PM
Petra Hedorfer, chair of the board of GNTB, explains: “Within our digitalisation strategy we continuously test newest technologies and trends to see if they could be useful for our company. Through accepting cryptocurrencies as a payment method and the possible medium-term implementation of the blockchain technology in our finance sector our international company wishes to set ourselves apart as an innovator and instigator within the tourism industry.”
(Source: http://www.tradearabia.com/news/BANK_338291.html )

This is a very strong statement and it shows how the acceptance of crypto currencies is soon becoming widespread and the day is not too far when such kind of realization would dawn upon every global organization. It shows that how people have started accepting the crypto network and they value the fact that it is a step ahead towards innovation and henceforth the furtherance of economic development of a nation.

All the above mentioned things means the cryptos are regulated and those who accept bitcoin and other cryptos are implementing KYC/AML regulations. And this is not bad, because that time most of the average people will buy the cryptos (or mine them, but not receiving them from shady businesses), so they will be fine with the regulations. For those, who are against the regulations there will always be possible to use Monero or some kind of similar and privacy focused coins. And because regulation and contol is not the same things, cryptos can remain decentralized in the future.
806  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin transaction fees cheaper than Banks now on: March 26, 2018, 08:30:33 PM
Hey guys,

Bumped into an interesting article!

https://blockmanity.com/bitcoin-transaction-fees-cheaper-banks-now-10000-1-cent/

Great news for the Crypto world.. Now we just need to figure out long transaction time waiting. Any thoughts?

Yes! Even the waiting time got decreased by a significant level. Just two days back I sent out few hundred dollars with a fee of less than one dollar and an waiting time of approximately 10 minutes. So it is indeed a good development. I think the adoption of segwit helped reaching the current situation. And with lightening network, it would further decrease to a significant level.
We also should not forget that the daily transaction count has lowered compared to the end of last year, when you had to fight for days to get your transaction into the accelerators to get a confirmation in a few days...
This low cost period is very good for arranging funds between different addresses and gather all the dust into one address for peanuts price, but as soon as anohter long period will start, the situation will change again. The question is, will the Lightning network ready by then, or we will face high fees again...
There were a lot of people who burned themselves with bitcoin buying near $20,000 but there are far more people who has still no clue about bitcoin, those will be the ones who can start a new raise in price sometime in the future.
807  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Lightning Node testnet installation error on: March 26, 2018, 03:57:24 PM
I'm also not an expert but these lines seems suspicious for me:
1 verbose cli [ 'C:\\Program Files\\nodejs\\node.exe',
1 verbose cli   'C:\\Program Files\\nodejs\\node_modules\\npm\\bin\\npm-cli.js',
7 verbose argv "C:\\Program Files\\nodejs\\node.exe" "C:\\Program Files\\nodejs\\node_modules\\npm\\bin\\npm-cli.js" "run" "setup"

There should not be double \\, usually it have to be just a single backslash like \

An '\' is used as an escape character. It is used to include special characters (like TAB, new line, etc..) into a string.
To include a backslash (\) you have to put the escape character in front of it. Therefore the '\\'.
Without the escape char the '\n' in the first line would have been understood as 'new line'.

Unfortunately i don't know what caused OP's problem. But i'm pretty sure it is not because of the double backslash.

OP, do you have the 'pack-age-electron' script in the right directory?
Thanks for the clarification, it's clear now, how to use the \\
808  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: London Stock Exchange fighting against Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency on: March 25, 2018, 08:36:08 PM
Nothing in this information is surprising and new. Banks are interested in fighting cryptocurrencies because they pose a threat of capital outflows. Stock exchanges have the same reason. But they have the main enemy is the ICO. So we saw an active campaign to discredit and ban all ICO. Investing in cryptocurrencies is more profitable than investing in stocks so they have become the next goal. Governments take a neutral position because they are afraid that cryptocurrencies will go into the shadows and they will lose control over them. The only thread that holds all coins under the control of the government is the ability to exchange cryptocurrencies for Fiat. That is why this opportunity is not closed.
This is my opinion as well. As long as people sell their fiat to buy cryptos, governments are not interested. While people are trading bitcoin for alts and vice versa they are still not interested, because nowdays people can do nearly nothing with alts and bitcoin, only if they exchange it back to fiat. And this is where governments are interested in the story, because they can regulate the exchanges and they can stop people exchanging cryptos back to fiat. Also they can make banks stop and reverse wire transfers if they are coming from crypto exchanges (cashing out to fiat). As soon as cryptos will have mass adoption (among merchants), this will be harder for governments, but it will be possible still.
809  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin replacing the future banking system ? on: March 25, 2018, 08:25:11 PM
Bitcoin may not be able to replace the banking transaction system but maybe the bitcoin applied blockchain technology can be adopted by the bank to be used as a transaction system. The advantages of this technology are also already known by some economic observers that can solve the problem of transactions so far let alone Ripple has become a good example of the adoption of blockchain technology for having established cooperation with banks from California.
I don't really think that a bank needs a bitcoin kind of system for transactions (because of the decentralized manner of the blockchain system of bitcoin). What a bank needs is a safe and secure (and quick and cheap) system that can be controlled. If it works on a kind of blockchain model or not, it does not matter at the end if it meets the requirements. Of course, banks would be happy with a blockchain based cheap and centralized system, but in this case they have to develop it for themselves. (And to agree that most of the banks will use that system, to be compatible with each other's system).
810  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: GDPR: A Game Changer Is Coming for Cryptocurrency on: March 25, 2018, 08:01:09 PM
What happens if a project stores only the user IDs on the blockchain, and the rest of the data is on a separated (centralized) server or database? I know that this means that the whole project is not totally and truly decentralized, but this could solve this GDPR problem... The working part of the system can remain decentralized.
811  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: They are coming with a new way to attack Crypto currencies! on: March 25, 2018, 07:17:34 PM
At the moment I don't see some real danger for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
These new coins might be supported by governments but that doesn't mean they will have the support of users. And that doesn't mean you will not have the choice to use the cryptocurrency you want.
It's understandable that governments want to control currencies but that still doesn't mean this will be successful project that will actualy live.
There's no need to ban bitcoin and similar cryptos by the government. It's enough in the current situation that they force the exchanges (only real exit points from cryptos to fiat, except localbitcoins) to implement KYC/AML and that will make selling coins really hard if not impossible in the future.
This can be a real threat, as long as merchants won't accept bitcoin directly for their goods and services. When will merchants accept bitcoin directly? When they can pay with their bitcoin income for their expenses, costs. If they can not, they can try to exchange it, but if the exchanges are regulated, this also will be hard.
812  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MasterCard will finally start accepting cryptocurrencies? on: March 24, 2018, 08:52:41 PM
I read an interesting article two days ago about MasterCard and that they are considering accepting crypto-currencies but only if certain conditions are met.
They have already started a test program in Japan and Singapore where they allow their users to cash out Bitcoin onto a MasterCard.

Ari Sarkar, MasterCard’s co-president said: “So long as it’s backed by a regulator and the value . . . it is not anonymous, it is meeting all the regulatory requirements, I think that would be of greater interest for us to explore.” Said Sarkar.

I dont like that he is expecting cryptos to be issued by central banks, what is the purpose of cryptos in that case but overall this could lead to better things I feel.
Do you think MasterCard could be the big partner for new opportunities?

Here is the link to the whole article:
https://crypto-lines.com/2018/03/19/mastercard-accepting-cryptocurrencies/

The article clearly states that MasterCard is not moving towards to Bitcoin, cryptocurrency for MasterCard means some kind of "digital fiat" which is issued by the central banks like cash and the money at the banks. I can understand that this would be a really good thing to MasterCard, because they will only need to issue cards and the payment processing network will be the cryptocurrencie's network. This means that MasterCard won't need to maintain a large payment network, but a smaller one, this can lead to cost reduction -> more profit with the same income structure.
The Japan and Singapore program is just a test. This is a test for a kind of fully regulated exchange (like a bitcoin exchanging bank, only specialized for this purpose, as I understood), so this exchange have to implement the KYC/AML policies fully, and will be able to exchange the bitcoins into fiat, and the customers can use this fiat with their MasterCard cards...
This is really looks like a bank, because it will check the incomes (in bitcoin) and if it doesn't fit for the AML policies, they will block it and won't let the customer use those funds... Also they will be fully connected with the tax authorities. This will be good for merchants who have incomes in bitcoin, they can prove the source of the funds, so this could be a possible solution for them, to exchange their coins in case of need.
813  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paying Mortgage with Bitcoin on: March 24, 2018, 08:19:26 PM
Additionally, a service like this wouldn't last long in the US financial structure because it would raise too many red flags because of AML/KYC concerns.

Thanks for your POV and it sounds like it may be correct.     I reached out to www.billpayforcoins.com and asked why they were closing their doors, maybe they can provide some more info.

These days the AML/KYC regulations are becoming more and more effective. It means that despite of that average bitcoin users are not terrorists, most of the exit points of blockchain (exchanges, or any places where you can exchange your coins to fiat) are becoming more and more regulated. If you want to get fiat for your coins, the one who exchanges it (if it's not localbitcoins with cash, but an entity with bank transfer) have to prove that they know where are your coins are coming from (and it's not against the AML regulations). Most of the exchangers just can't prove this, so they are just closing the doors.
814  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where do you store your 24 word phrase? on: March 24, 2018, 08:03:37 PM
I recommend the cryptosteel way, or something similar.
If Cryptosteel is a bit expensive, try the following:
Order some stainless steel business cards from ebay (few cents / piece)
Buy or borrow an engraver tool.
Engrave the seed (with some modification, if needed to make it harder to guess what's that) into the metal business card.
Put it into your safe or into a safe in the nearest bank branch.
Voilá

I'm not sure that this is the problem but you can give it a try to check the script if you can modify it to single backslash, it can't be worse, since it's not working at the moment.

The other reason why there are dobule backslashes in the program lines that this is a special scripting language I don't know, in this case I have no idea about the problem...
816  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [2018-03-23] 20 asian banks set to launch blockchain conglomerate by 2019 on: March 24, 2018, 03:07:55 PM
This is exactly why it is not worth investing in ripple. Banks are not going to use to use someone else's creation as it is too risky and they have no control over it. if blockchain technology is going to be adopted they will simply create their own coin either as an individual establishment or in a collaborative group.
There's no need to create a separated coin for each bank in order to be in complete control of it. If this happens, bank's won't accept each other's coins, even if they're in the same country and using the same fiat currency.
Banks won't create a coin but will develop a blockchain based solution. People won't be interested in bank coins, they only want quick and affordable transactions. They don't mind how banks would solve this, as long as the service of the banks' is cheap and reliable. Banks can make some advantage for themselves using the blockchain term in their advertisements.
817  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Do You Use Bitcoin & Blockchain Technology in Web Design WordPress? on: March 24, 2018, 02:57:25 PM
A lot of people who do use Bitcoin on their website, blog or what ever it may be just post their address for donations. Payment gateways do exist such as bitpay which are commonly used for selling goods for Bitcoin and possibly even services too.

In the nature of wordpress I don't think a highly sophisticated system needs to be used and posting your Bitcoin address it probably good enough. We don't always have to over complicate things for them to be good.
My only concern about posting the bitcoin address on a website is that from the moment you post your address waiting for donations, everyone will be able to check how much donations you have received so far...
Somewhere I have read about a kind of script that periodically changes the address displayed on the website to oversome this privacy problem.
818  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Online Shopping Exp. With Bitcoin – Faster, Cheaper Than Visa, Paypal on: March 24, 2018, 02:51:39 PM
So is Lightning Network really works already? coz i know bitcoin has an issue on high transaction fee. But if LN works already then we could see lot of users will use for payments and it will be worthful.
Lightning Network is in beta testing now, so it works but not for the average bitcoin users now. Bitcoin does not have the high transaction fee issue right now, but that does not mean that it cannot happen again in the future. The lightning network will solve a lot of things in connection with the fast and cheap bitcoin transactions, but it's not a kind of holy grail so it's better to learn and read about the LN before it gets implemented on the mainnet.
819  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We need cartoons about bitcoin to promote on: March 23, 2018, 08:58:40 PM
We need more educational cartoons and graphics to educate over social media.
Education is important, maybe the most important thing, if bitcoin want to reach the mass adoption. As Facebook and the others only ban ICOs and other scammy AD things, bitcoin related educational cartoons would reach to the masses if they are interesting enough  besides they are providing information about the cryptos. My favourit educational cartoon is this (not a bitcoin one, but still useful)

We need several cartoons like this and people will slowly start to learn about the necessary things...
820  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It’s Now Twitter Aiming to Prohibit Cryptocurrency Ads on: March 22, 2018, 10:18:42 PM
......
Education is the key and it would be far more efficient than a ban.
This is what I always say, this whole crypto thing is so new that people needs to have at least a minimum education to be able to deal with it safely... (if they care about safety... electricity is much more older than the cryptos but people are still drying their hair in the bath tube still.... well...)
The sad thing is that in the western countries, people are still not have the necessary education to deal with their fiat money (pyramid schemes, etc...) so it will not be easy to educate them about cryptos...
