801  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Is the KNC controller the same for Neptune and Titan? on: October 22, 2015, 12:31:11 AM

The Titan isn't a Pi 2. Pi 2 didn't exist when Titan came out.

You say, that Pi 2 can not be used together with Titan?

I have no idea if they could be made to work, would be nice if so!

I've got spares of everything from the cointerra rigs.

UPDATE: will be releasing v.99e within a couple days, maybe even today =P

Features will include:
-groundwork code for multilanguage capability in webgui. Upon reboot after installing upgrade it will ask which language you want the webgui, only working & complete one is English for now
-chinese skeleton site, only includes the status page translated
-much more accurate wall watts
-ability to set your PSU's expected effeciency in SYSTEM tab which is used to calculate wall watts(defaults to 85%)
-more accurate cube power consumption in ADVANCED tab
-more modular code in monitoring script(which will give way to autotune someday =-) )

Future release:
Since I have the code in place to deal w/ the config file for voltage & clocks now, I will start coding some sort of autotune sometime =)
Im thinking initially it will only adjust voltages up and down a few notches by monitoring HW% error rate for each die in bfgminer and adjust voltage up/down accordingly. The maximum hw% Im gonna let a die have is 1% (overall hw% no greater than 2%) (based on my titan) .. Im not sure about the overall range of die hw% quality out there so a lot of this will require people willing to test the autotune.
Best(desired) clocks will still be required to be set by user.
There are lots of stuff to consider when tinkering w/ voltages automatically, such as per die DCDC current draw, per die DCDC temps, overall cube power draw, HW%, etc... this could get really complex really fast which is why Ive been putting it off =-P

Looking forward to the update!

In regards to auto-tune, that's a good idea. I've done the tuning myself manually, also aiming to have no more than 1% HW errors per die. Once that's dialed in, I leave putty connected in screen to monitor for bfgminer restarts due to dies being un-restartable with your watchdog. When that happens, I bump the offending die's voltage a notch until it's completely stable. That leaves me with a 100% stable Titan at the lowest power consumption possible.

Here's what that looks like:

That's mining on nicehash in case you're wondering.

......if i buy a Neptuner controller and then i plug in a titan cube it will run well. Somewho know if it can work?

Thanks!

No.
Neptune use BBB and Titan Rasperry Pi(2)

The Titan isn't a Pi 2. Pi 2 didn't exist when Titan came out.

A friend of mine is just getting started in bitcoin mining... thanks to me, I got him hooked ;-)

He raised a question that I have no answer to... The question is:::

When would bitmain receive the funds if he wired money?

He's asking because he wired funds yesterday, Oct 20 for a couple S7 batch 3's and his order still says UNPAID as of 8am CST Oct 21

I thought he was a friend?

lol

Nice share from my S7.  Shocked

807  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Have 2.311 PH/S rate, PPS P2POOL or PPLNS on: October 20, 2015, 08:21:10 PM

+1!

Another idea is to use few pools so you have a more constant income and you are not the victim of bad luck of one pool

Yeah, that's not a bad idea.

770TH/s to p2pool
770TH/s to kano.is
770TH/s to slush

..something something eggs in a basket...

Plus you'll get a clear idea of who pays best over time. I'd suggest using 3 proxy setups, 1 per pool, to make controlling your miners easier.
808  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Have 2.311 PH/S rate, PPS P2POOL or PPLNS on: October 20, 2015, 08:06:18 PM
P2Pool always pays best in the end, but variance is a factor. As long as you understand that, I think p2pool would be best for you. If you want a traditional pool, my vote goes to kano and then slush.
809  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: October 20, 2015, 07:58:24 PM
Shouldn't a mod (-ck?) adjust this thread's title? The pool has been at ~32000TH/s for quite a while, now. 9000TH/s is old news.

Not in the Arctic or in my freezer lol. Close, though. Canada.

Update on my OCed S7 - It's a tank:

Only if you actually release it!  Tongue

Just wanted to share my experience after watching the YouTube video, I went ahead and ordered copper heatsinks and GC-Extreme paste from amazon, they were delivered within a day. I cut the metal bar further to allow me to install individual heatsinks on all 8 DC-DC modules. BTW, I replaced the stock fans with Noctua earlier. What an improvement, this cube would never run over 281 MHz, now it's been running at 325 MHz for over 24 hours. I see DC-DC temp as high as 86 but never 90, as I set that as my max temp on GenTarkin's mod. Cutting the metal bar was a pain though specially for the front 4 DC-DC modules.

Thanks for sharing. What were the DC/DC temps before the mod? Lower or higher?

BW is the biggest Chinese mine I believe.

Awesome work, Tarkin!  Grin

Were you also able to correct the incorrect power reported for each cube?

I hope LK brings some much needed competition to the table. Bitmain can't be allowed to be the only player in town.
817  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 17, 2015, 08:54:54 PM
Yep. Shame that KNC didn't spend an extra $10 per cube to put the 50A VRMs and a second PCI-e connector.  Undecided

Just measured the controller for ya. It's using 2.25w on the 5V rail, and nothing on the 12V rail. That's with 5 cubes connected and the LCD screen. I'm surprised by how low that is!

WTF?! thats insanely low ROFL! thats 2.25W or 2.25A? LOL =P

Yeah, really really low. Guess the CPU isn't getting much of a work out!

That's 0.45A * 5V = 2.25W  Grin

Here ya go, Tarkin:

I can't get a reading on the 5th cube for now as it's temporarily running on a Seasonic ATX PSU. I can't get my clamp on the 12V wires since it's sleeved.

Would you also like a reading of a cube running 325MHz at default voltage, (-0.0366v) or is that unnecessary?
820  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 17, 2015, 07:01:46 PM
Ok, here is my updated formula:
PER DCDC its doing this calculation: P * 1.15 + 5    (Measured power , 85% eff, add 5w for DCDC power dissipation)
Which comes out to about 330w per cube. (on my titan)

Then for wall watts its:

Cube power * 1.15 + 5 + 25 (Total cube power as per each DCDC added together from above equation, 85% eff PSU, add 5w for pi, add 25w for controller board)

Gives my total wall watts of 1530w, which is EXTREMELY close to my measured 1515W at wall.

I dont really know how much the controller board consumes, so thats a pure guess LOL!

If I run the SAME guestimate through ur 5 cubes and ur 94% PSU, it comes out at ..... 1779W!! Which is also very close.

What ya think?

The only thing I cannot account for is all the different effeciency levels of the DCDC, so if someone is running the DCDC at like 90% eff, my calcs would still assume 85% =P

In regards to custom effeciency setting, I was thinking, for sake of cleanliness I would just add it as another setting under the SYSTEM tab, thoughts?

That sounds much much better! I just got home so I'll get the measurements soon for ya, along with a screen shot of the advanced page for all cubes.

The only way someone could get to 90% DCDC efficiency is if the underclock the cubes, right? Doubt anyone is doing that. I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you. What's more important is getting the proper reading for normal use cases.
