For something to replace cash, it has to be as good as or better than cash.

Bitcoin is not as good as good as cash. Some alts are though.

ok, i'll take the bait.

which alt and why?
Noo what have you done. Don't feed the trolls. Sad
822  Other / Off-topic / Re: Your time machine is here...what year would you like? on: April 19, 2014, 12:46:26 AM
Lol "it's impossible to travel at the speed of light" I love how people make statements like this. Kind of like how they used to say it was impossible to travel around the world and come around the other side. Or that it was impossible to split an atom. Or any other number of things... that turned out to be entirely possible once greater knowledge was attained.

"Impossible to travel around the world" was spoken in the age of ignorance, when almost everyone on the planet believed in a god.

"Impossible to travel at the speed of light" is spoken out of scientific fact.  As you apply more energy to an object, it's resistance to acceleration increases, and that energy is turned into mass instead of velocity.  Mass cannot travel at the speed of light.  You can do experiments to prove this in your own home.
What tells you however that this isn't going to be viewed as another "age of ignorance" in a couple of thousand years? (Given mankind survives that long).
823  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Price on: April 19, 2014, 12:45:18 AM
Increases or decreases Bitcoin price depends on what factors?
The question is the same as what determines the value of anything. Mentioned above, supply and demand.
Remember, bitcoin is real and therefore has a value.
824  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When can I post in other sub-forums? on: April 19, 2014, 12:44:14 AM
Doubt they'll close the thread, but please look for the answer on the forum, in stickies and with the search bar before posting your own threads in the future!
825  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: So what happened in China today? on: April 19, 2014, 12:43:34 AM
So, any new news from China? Or why is the price falling again? :/
826  Other / Off-topic / Re: Celebration when price hits 420 on: April 19, 2014, 12:42:49 AM
Satoshi was obsessed with the number 420? What? Was he by any chance a pothead college student lmao?
Or maybe he just wanted to hide some sort of "joke" in the system. Smiley
827  Other / Off-topic / Re: Celebration when price hits 420 on: April 19, 2014, 12:40:24 AM
Funny to imagine people celebrating the price hitting 420, and today we're dreading it. Cheesy

830  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is A joke and will never last. on: April 19, 2014, 12:36:14 AM
it will last minimum another 5 year.
It'll surely last longer than that, question is what will the value be. It's not going to magically disappear after 5 years.

Like Cortana said ir will last 500 years Cheesy .
Now serious, i think price will only go up. New people getting into it, and its harder and harder to mine. So that what is mined need to spread up, and price will go up. Smiley
Indeed. But we might encounter unexpected problems in the future. Or we might not. We'll see. Smiley
831  Economy / Gambling / Re: FairProof.com - the simplest provably fair bitcoin multi-lottery (instant) on: April 19, 2014, 12:35:31 AM
Your minimal bet NOW is 0.0001btc.
try to win more bitcoins with fairproof

Am I the only one having problems connecting to the website? I just get directed to Default Parallels Plesk Panel page. It happened some time before with CoinAd, but I seemed to be the only one having the issue.

No, I also encounter the same issue. I still have 1 BTC there that I couldn't withdraw earlier. Hope I'll get it soon...
http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/fairproof.com

Tells me it's down for just me however. That's odd.

It works for me!
I cleared my caches and reset my browser, and now it's working again!
832  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to make 0.002 BTC very fast? on: April 19, 2014, 12:32:53 AM
If you just need a few dollars you can allways try stuff like dollarrewardz.com and do crowdflower tasks or take some of the tasks that get you credits for registering with and playing browser games. Mind you though: the crowdflower tasks can be tedious work that takes a lot of time and is payed VERY badly. Still it can get you BTC faster than mining or any faucet or adclick site.
I've been paid over 2~ months been paid 21,358 µBTC from just crowd flower tasks, I think they're working fine. Smiley

836  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BitMinter.com * Optional Custom Miner, PPLNS, Merged mining, Newbie-Friendly! * on: April 19, 2014, 12:29:28 AM
I wouldn't call it a non-relevant thread.  I think providing the 1 key data point I surmised from reading the thread is relevant to this active thread.  If you don't want to read Newbie comments, feel free to skip this thread  Tongue

Oh .. and +1  Grin

Peace and love

Great pool, I had fun jumping through the history of this thread.  Should have read it before I bought a used Jalapeno, I would have seen the posts back in May 2013 explaining how with the difficulty increases and increases in overall hashing, 5GH would only earn good BTC rates for a while.  Oh well, at least my miner contributes to the Bitcoin network in general Smiley
Did you seriously just make a non relevant comment to a non relevant 3 year old thread? You're a newbie, I get it, you want to get your activity up. But at least post your useless comments on active threads, if you're gonna spam at all.
I'm confused, I didn't understand anything you typed. It might be too late for forum reading.
Oh well, whatever.

Peace.

It means don't come in the thread and leave abusive comments. Bitminter is noob friendly.
Did my comment come across as abusive? Of course it's noob friendly, as the title of the thread states. But you can still keep your posts relevant to the thread, otherwise they're considered 100% pure spam, which is not allowed - newbie or not.
837  Other / Off-topic / Re: Your time machine is here...what year would you like? on: April 19, 2014, 12:27:31 AM
Actually Stephen hawkings claims you can only travel into the future and not into the past. Sad

I'v heard that, has something to do with speed

in space if you achieve high enough speeds time goes by faster and you remain unaffected

something like that
really interesting though
Yes he said you have to almost attain the speed of light but he also said it's impossible to travel at light speed it's another fail safe of the universe.

but you must attain almost the speed of light, not the speed of light Smiley

I think he said it would take just 76 years to almost attain the speed of light.
Woho, given the the lifetime expectancy is increasing with an alarming rate we might after all live to see that. If his predictions are somewhat correct of course. There are so many unpredictable things that could affect it though.
His shows are simply amazing to watch. I love how he explains in simplified terms so morons like me can understand him  Cheesy
Well, what would be the point of doing something as amazing as he does and then being completely unable to make other people understand it? Cheesy
838  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is Big Scam on: April 19, 2014, 12:26:40 AM
Your logic is based on that it only has a value because we think it does? Just like all other sorts of currency? The Tinkerbell effect?
It doesn't prove anything. I'll take your Bitcoins as well if you don't want them, but then again I suppose you don't have a lot, or else you wouldn't hate it. Smiley
839  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to call 0.001 BTC? (5 BTC Bounty) on: April 19, 2014, 12:25:12 AM
I wondered what happened to this.... LOL if think the op must have better things to do  Grin
Oh yes, I keep getting updates from this post, it's getting annoying. So many people still making up their own names even tho there is no point of it, at all.
840  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you sleepwalk/sleeptalk? on: April 19, 2014, 12:23:59 AM
Sleepwalk? No
Sleeptalk? No
Do you sleep? No

Cheesy

Well that doesn't seem healthy at all! How do you recharge your internal batteries?

Hehe, that was just a joke. These days my sleeping time is fucked up. It's 5:49 AM here and I am still awake.
I will go to sleep in 1-2 hours.
Oh yeah, I can definitely relate to that. It's so easy to turn your sleeping hours over, so hard to turn them back. It's already 2:23 AM here, and it's gonna take a couple of hours to get even remotely tired. :/ Luckily it's still weekend, hopefully I'll get a chance to turn the hours around before next week.
