8361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: altcoins for 2-3 years holding! on: December 29, 2017, 05:35:56 PM
Xtrabytes x1000 next years.

We have already 1,800+ currencies today so there are more still to come so I don't think investors are going to invest on higher priced currencies and Top Altcoins. That's why more investors today that invested into more proven more effective coins than newer coins.

I used to believe that to be true. But I think we can agree (or okay I will agree) that yes, newcomers and new investors will always buy a recognized coin, simply because it is easier to buy and that was the coin they heard about and can find most resources on. But as they stay and learn more, they naturally want to also be an early comer for a new coin. To make the moon on their own or whatever fancy way of putting it they wish.

And the proof is every day here. People are asking about some random coin I never heard of. People are owning 100ks of Verge, things like that. So newer coins also benefit from new money, that is for sure.
8362  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can ETH reach BTC value ? on: December 29, 2017, 04:50:54 PM
Bitcoin and Ethereum are two different creations. They do not focus on the same market applications. But, there's a chance that Ethereum will reach or surpass bitcoin's value. Because the value of cryptocurrency is not bound to any external economical tool. ETH offers more than a decentralized trust-less currency providing additional value for smart contracts. Understanding its potential will make ETH higher than BTC.

Yes, I found it surprising the other day in chat when almost everyone was an ETH supporter, but none of them actually realized that Ethereum was not really built as a cryptocurrency, whereas Bitcoin was. Of course in reality they can be very similar. I know Ethereum has so much potential with dAPPs but the most that the majority of projects out there use Ethereum for is just to create tokens on it,,, which you can actually do with Bitcoin too if you wanted.

The only app I ever saw actually using smart contracts and used by lots of people was the game Cryptokitties Wink
8363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoins price falls down..! why? on: December 28, 2017, 10:04:24 PM
Because of the fake news from South Korea: it will limit the use of cryptocurrencies and bitcoins, and that's why today's crash.

No, that news is old news. Everyone knew what South Korea was going to do even before Bitcoin started crashing. For me, always follow history. Altcoins crash in cycles and usually this crash is across most alts, and in similar trends. So number 1 is usually Bitcoin price is going up. This usually means altcoins crash. And number 2 is just that Alts just experienced major boom, and corrections are incoming as per natural market conditions. MArket is all about cycle, what goes down goes up, alternating. This is just the nature of trading.
8364  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: December 28, 2017, 08:00:48 PM
1.35 now wow this is going above my wildest expectations, if it's getting added to coinbase right now will reach 2$
If this was your wildest expectation, then you either must not have been in crypto for very long or you are still one of the most sensible people left in this forum! Have you not been reading some of the wilder predictions for Ripple? I have seen 10k even!

Sadly, most EU/US exchanges are around 1.18. asian ones 1.5, and 1.35 is average, I guess

That is some heavy arbitrage. You should buy all your Ripple from EU then, and wait for them to catch up with the prices of Asian ones. Do not worry, it is small change. You just hold and wait for four or five big dollars.
8365  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Ethereum a bubble? on: December 28, 2017, 07:22:04 PM
I used to really dislike Eth, but now I am more like okay, I still do not like you, but you are here to stay, so I guess I should learn to live with you. That is why I am also diversifying to Eth a little now, not because I support of believe in it but because it has built enough of a reputation (and almost made people forget its old bad reputation) to stay for many years.

However, I cannot say it is a bubble, no more than Bitcoin is. How can alts that fail because of games be a bubble, right?
8366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 28, 2017, 05:20:44 PM
Monero dropping along with Bitcoin. We could possibly retest the old lows (btc), then back in the fast lane.

Yeah, if anyone was able to buy when Bitcoin touched below 12k, congratulations. I really need another dip, a big one if possible, and if January serves us up the usual correction/dip/whatever you want to call it, I can really feel Monero also following that pattern, before renewing its bullish year in 2018. So come on, all you Bitcoin haters, sell it as hard as you can so I can get my own entire Monero stash.

P.S. Any Monero meetups in my area? Currently in Singapore or Thailand. I know there must be some people who value anonymity and privacy.
8367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Detected super coin (go to the moon in silent) on: December 28, 2017, 08:19:13 AM
I do not think it is a bad coin, I remember they had a very good promotion campaign when their ICO launched, and there was a lot of participants (as usual mostly bad but also some seriously good gamer bounty hunters). So it is not exactly what I would call silent. Super coin, also I cannot say. Everyone is talking about 20 million gamers,,, that is more than a lot of countries use. If they really were that many ENJIN users, would we not see heavy trading volumes, or at least heavy transaction volume on the network? We do not. So it is still a very far way from adoption. The price now is still a result of pumpers and speculating.
8368  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Zclassic - Bitcoin private - Why the hype? on: December 27, 2017, 08:25:25 PM

Both Roger Ver and Jihan Wu follow Rhett the developer on Twitter, is this bigger than we think?

If both Roger Ver and Jihan Wu had, like they originally did, gone on to follow Bitcoin Cash together on CNBC and then put up Bitconnect, One coin or any other known ponzi coin as the next sure thing, would they be bigger than we think? It is not just about whether we think it is big or not. I think by price alone already you can tell just how much and how big people already see ZCash is. So what is the fuss? The fuss is the fuss. And people like you help make that fuss grow into more than it really is. Stop attaching importance to names like those.
8369  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: All my money in 1 altcoin - Too risky? on: December 27, 2017, 05:48:33 PM
Hi,
the altocoin market is so variuous and there are dozen of interesting projects that can be supported.

But  i'm a little investor (500$) and i'm seriously thinking to put all my money in only 1 project I think is very good which curretly is in the top 40 of altcoins. I don't want to say the name because my topic wants to be very general: what do you think is the risk  by doing so? Should I invest in 2 or 3 coins instead?

Thanks

That is not really that little of an investor, if you compare to a lot of places and people. Including myself, I only reached that $500 value almost four or five months after I first started, and largely thanks to Bitcoin's price going up so much. If you really want to only have one project, then you should not ask anyone here. As they all say,,, do your own research. Sounds stupid but that is the whole point. Then you have no one to blame (or praise) for your failure and success.

But okay one advice. Diversify. You never know what can happen, and if you spread risk out over say 5 coins, you still have others if one or more fails.
8370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is it good time to buy alts now? on: December 27, 2017, 04:45:00 PM
well, lots of altcoin prices are down at the moment. try to look at potential coins such as xrp, xlm, or others. I think, the coin has the potential to have a high price in the future. but, everyone has their own altcoin options.

Was definitely a good time to buy alts just less than a week ago when Bitcoin shed off 40%. I wish I took the time to add on a bit to my existing holdings, but never mind. As I mentioned earlier I already broke even +1% profit on two coins (Digibyte and Siacoin) so whatever I have left I never need to look back and worry.

Now Bitcoin is back at $15k levels. Either it goes back down as I think it will, then you get yet another alt buy opportunity. Or if does not look back, in which case alts you buy now look attractive but will go even further down in value until the next BTC dip, which may take months.
8371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Google partnered with Peculium! on: December 26, 2017, 07:43:48 PM
Guys. Learn your lesson. Do not trust all these so called partnerships until you see official announcements from both official channels. Remember, even if only one side says it, does not mean it is real, in fact, most likely is not real, not yet realized or just a misunderstanding from someone who acted with his keyboard too quickly. Remember Iota and Microsoft. On one side note, however, I feel like this Peculium looks pretty cool. They would not need to partner with Google, though, why not compete with it?
8372  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Did Verge pump only because of McAfee? on: December 26, 2017, 06:21:33 PM
No, not McAfee alone, but a combination of several hypers. I actually noticed a lot of noise going on in the forum, mostly by newbie accounts with spammy history, and then I think Verge paid for a lot of press releases, as they came out over a few days on a number of new agencies.

And THEN McAfee came along and talked it up, and in fact a lot of the same news agencies carried that very news. I love anonymous coins of course, I have my own. And maybe Verge can be special, but other than a pump coin for profit? I do not think so, not personally.
8373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Waves future on: December 26, 2017, 05:15:27 PM
It's user friendly that's what I describe waves because it is easy to use it's cool and fun no hassle issues.

I wish more people understood the basic simplicities of life for normal people like me, the way this post totally explains in one line. I open my Waves and I remember smiling the first time I did. I remember using it for the first time and I never needed to open a Guide book. I thought it worked one way, and it did exactly that. No surprises. It's cool, it looks so smooth, feels so smooth, never crashed on me. And that was the old Waves platform!
8374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tips on choosing the right ICO on: December 25, 2017, 07:13:33 PM
I wanted to invest in the company's ICO, graphene producer. The site is good, a lot of information about the material, its properties, advisors, organizers, everything was good. Then he accidentally went into the search engine and found out that there is a company with a similar name and is already a producer of this material. Started in more detail everything to look turned out to be all fake, photos of other people, names are fictitious and a lot of cheating! Check everything, starting with the analysis of photos on the search engine team members and project advisors.

A lot of information: easy to do.
Advisors, organizers, everthing good: easy to do.

As you found out, it is very, very easy to make the best looking projects with the best looking ICOs. Even if they are not fake, it is quite easy, with money to get people who seem to look good on your team. Imagine if you were a whale. With say 10 BTC (small but let us say), you can hire highly professional people to make your entire website and documentation for 2 BTC. Hire a few devs to make some stupid ERC20 token, very easy, even 0.1 BTC. The most expensive PR package in the world: 1.5 BTC and you get huge coverage on big sites. Now you have about 6 BTC left to throw around to people, they will gladly talk it up. ICO 101.
8375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Participation in many Airdrops: How profitable, how safe? on: December 25, 2017, 04:33:18 PM
I guess it depends on luck a little. Those who participated in airdrops early on like Lumens and Gbyte are sitting on a lot of money now. But those who took part in airdrops over the last few months might notice that only 1 or two are actually having any value. I think in terms of profit, you probably end up breaking even, not for the amount of money but the time you spend with them.

Safe? As long as you never give away information that will compromise your coins, you should be safe. A decent airdrop never asks for payment, so that is a red flag already if they ask you for something.
8376  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: How many of those "hacks" are really "hacks" on: December 25, 2017, 02:44:28 PM
I believe some are real hacks, but to me when the announcements are made months after they have been discovered, then I think it was just misappropriation. A lot of people, including myself, never believe Mt Gox was a hack. And now, after seeing exchanges get away with everything after claiming hacks, of course a lot of projects and websites and exchanges feel, hey, let us just say we got hacked. No more responsibilities.

Some hacks are obvious, and have a trail. And hackers usually leave messages behind, to confirm that they were there and the hacks were because of them. The other so called hacks are just a close all excuse to get away with crime.
8377  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: Rating of bounty managers on: December 25, 2017, 12:16:46 PM
Is there any rating of bounty managers available? That could be a great resource to see who is most experienced and best.
- Aren't the forum's trust ratings enough ? I mean if someone's a good manager, that would reflect on his ratings.
- Moreover, who'd you call a great bounty manager ? Someone's who's good at managing spreedsheets or someone who can make sure the bounties help in reaching the target audience ?
-Subjective

Yes, it is subjective, but there can also be objective means to indicate if a bounty manager is good and effective. For me, for example, the bounty manager has very little control in helping bounties reach target audience. This is down to the project itself to set rules, to determine context and audience. The manager merely takes instructions and within his influence can ensure best meeting of standards.

Some clear objective indicators for me are 1> Manager is always timely with updates to and from project. 2 > Manager ensures high quality of participation, only accepts good posters, for example, and acknowledges all black lists and bans. 3 > Manager communicates well with constructive feedback. Can a poster improve? Can a poster be warned?
8378  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Waves vs. Bitcoin on: December 25, 2017, 10:08:47 AM
It is never a question for me, when I buy an alt, whether it is versus Bitcoin or not. I always only (now anyway) buy an alt that I want to hold for long term. I have been very happy recently when Siacoin (SC) and Digibyte (DGB), which I bought to hold for months. And after 3 months ago when I bought at 120 satoshi and 350 satoshi a few months back, suddenly rose back above those levels, so I made almost 2x profits selling them off yesterday. In fact, could have made more but I missed the highs.

So if you are willing to wait for months at least on some buys, then there is every reason to get a coin, not because you want it to "beat" another coin, but because you see potential.
8379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can Ripple actually go up ( 10 + ) ? on: December 24, 2017, 03:33:24 PM
as others suggested the key is total crypto market capitalization

look, a price above 1 usd for xrp was not sustainable in early 2017 because of low whole markt cap, but know yes

what will be the price when maret cap will hit 1.000 billions? and if it goes to 10.000 billions? in few years we are going to see ;-)

Yes, unfortunately, this is the one feature always ridiculed when it comes to Ripple, yes a $1 price means that it can be a serious mover, but that is taking advantage of the entire crypto's rise and movement. And we knew it could not be sustained, but just because market cap becomes 1 trillion or ten trillion, does not really bring sustainability to Ripple's push. But, as you said, we will all find out anyway. Ripple can be comfortable sitting at $1 for even a year if that is what it takes, and then if 1 trillion is reached, maybe Ripple and others will find more space to wiggle for price range. Til then, wait and see.
8380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [GBYTE] Byteball Speculation on: December 24, 2017, 02:21:43 PM
I increased my bag of Byteballs, too. I think it has at least the potential of IOTA whereas it is more for C2B and B2B while IOTA is focusing on M2M. If people realize that Byteball is the better alternative for daily transactions the price will jump. IOTA will grow to but mostly through acceptance by (big) companies.

Also a good video from Marc de Mesel, covering 8 things he loves about Byteball https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSA6EX6JdkM

Thanks for the video, I have been a small Byteball (and blackbyte) owner for almost a year now, and was not actually aware of people like him who believed in Gbytes for a very long time. I should have taken the chance to increase it earlier, though actually I do not lose so much investing in more now, since the satoshi price has not gone up too much. But I was around when 1 Gbyte was almost 1k and I guess I felt it was over when it became even less than $200.

I do not know about daily transactions, but to have the type of tech they do (and great wallet yes?), without the ICO problem, I think this has high high hopes for the long term.
