8381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XSPEC] SpectreCoin on Bitcointalk : spamming or legit interest for the coin ? on: December 24, 2017, 12:10:09 PM
Funny to see a newbie commenting about newbies commenting about SpectreCoin. I had just replied in an earlier post that I feel I may be vulnerable to the amount of hype surrounding XSPEC. I normally really do not like that kind of hype, especially with hundreds of newbie accounts spamming threads, but if you read the few good ones, they make sense - from a marketing perspective, if not a technology stance. And when you see it along with Verge being mentioned as the new anon coins, then you wonder, maybe marketing is all that is required to make profits. So yes, legit interest for sure, but in profit, not the tech.
8382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Any altcoin which is less than $10 dollar right now and will be bomb in future? on: December 24, 2017, 11:06:39 AM
You know what? The endless hype has finally won me over. Forget it, I'll invest a bit in Spectrecoin. It's been talked up so much lately.

I invested in Dent this morning and it doubled in price today. Feels good man.

Oh no why did you have to post this. And why did I have to read this? I was feeling the itch for weeks, kept reading the hype about Spectrecoin, and even wondering why some "personalities" are talking it up. I admit I felt a bit jealous not to buy it when I saw the price rise. I like Monero 100% and that will always be my utility coin, from the perspective of anonymous crypto. But I really want to be part of a hype coin at the beginning and make money on the side. Yes,,, yes, I know, I should keep to my principles of investing and stick to my researched coins. But is it wrong to wish a little? I fear I will gamble on Spectrecoin before 2018 arrives.
8383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: STRAT on: December 24, 2017, 09:01:07 AM
I just picked 10 Strat at .00970 a few hours ago,  and
and we are at .1073... Roughly from under $12 to $15...
I think its going to $20.  Stratis is known for sitting at $5, i
think it was. I used to use it as a marker for when to enter &
exit during the dips lol. It is consistent because it is a strong
coin & I see it getting to $20-23 today.

Sitting at $5, that was exactly the point I bought my few Stratis, and I mean few, only 3 coins. I was about to buy more perhaps 70 coins or so when it dipped to below $4 even but I was just bone dry with Bitcoin. So yes, slightly regretting it now, but then again, I am somewhat making more improvements over the other coins I bought. If Stratis goes to over $20 today as you say it will, that will be a huge point for selling off. I can still see Stratis going down below 10 dollars, that would be my entry point in 2018.
8384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Coinbase Prediction... on: December 24, 2017, 08:21:18 AM
What do you think is the next coin to be added to coinbase and why? I think its either Ripple or Monero. Ripple has great connects to banks, which coinbase likes and Monero is the most popular private coin out there.

Monero would never reach out to Coinbase to start listing it, so unless Coinbase somehow wants to hire their own developers good enough to maintain Monero wallets and their own infrastructure, you will never ever see a coin like Monero on there. Coinbase is all about trying to make money, and have the highest KYC available for any exchange. They will never want the difficulty of accounting for a crypto like Monero, with anonymous payments - and real Monero users with needs for anonymity will never verify at Coinbase!
8385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you hold different alts? on: December 23, 2017, 07:13:17 PM
If they're all ERC20 tokens (based on Ethereum blockchain) then you only need one wallet on MyEtherWallet. It stores all tokens you can view them easily from the interface. If you are talking about different altcoins on different blockchains, you can use Exodus (not so many), Coinomi or Jaxx (I think this has the most alt coins supported).

If you are just using big coins like ETH and LTC, I can recommend Waves (Has major altcoins). But if you are holding big amounts, better to keep them on separate wallets.
8386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Problems Withdrawing coins from Poloniex on: December 23, 2017, 01:48:02 PM
I did not have problems in the past but it has been many months since I made any more deposits or withdrawals into Poloniex, and I have heard they are getting worse since July and August. I also received notification from Cex that they have stopped allowing new registrations with November being such a heavy load in terms of new sign ups.

The email problem is also something people have complained about I remember it has something to do with the servers recognizing it as spam. Your only hope now is just to get a support ticket created and hope they respond. My advice: all exchanges are dangerous, so before depositing, make sure accounts are fully verified. The support normally prioritizes verified accounts.
8387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Liquify Crypto in the UK WITHOUT Coinbase on: December 23, 2017, 11:14:05 AM
You mean liquidate right? There are a lot of options, but I agree with users here: Localbitcoins and Bisq are to me the best in terms of lots of choices and if you are patient, you may find good rates. Just be aware of scams and untrusted users. Fee wise, these are the best (they do not look good at first glance but minus the rates from other services, you discover they can be cheaper.

For us here, we also use Luno quite well, and I know in Europe you can use Austrian exchanger BPanda with no verification (but small limits). My suggestion is to find trusted traders on localbitcoins, keep in contact, later you will know which also buys other cryptos.

8388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Crypto WINTER SALE TODAY! on: December 22, 2017, 04:00:00 PM
Nope, not really, I already bought my alts a few months back and saw them lose 50 and more percent, so today is a repetition of that cycle it looks to me. Looks like it has bottomed out, but oh wait, there's more to go. I suppose if you believe they can still hit their highs, then yeah now is a good buy. But I feel strongly the lows are not over yet. Do not make the same mistake I did that is, unless you are a years long bagholder like me haha.

It was such a shame too, yesterday I was finally almost back to -30% losses from my BTC entries. Today all back down again. Holder I am, once more.
8389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin Crash is down on: December 22, 2017, 03:01:53 PM
This was bound to happen with all the inexperienced morons who just recently started cashing out their life savings to join the crypto-craze with zero experience or knowledge.

Those same idiots are probably selling now for little to no profit or even selling at a loss because they have never experienced a major correction before.

I for one, hope we go real low, I have some more investments to make & I only buy during corrections Wink I hope LTC gets down to the $100 range.

Not that I believe in karma, but with trading, and especially with Bitcoin,,, it is always too early to speak. I feel bad for people who bought when it was maybe 15-17k, and they thought they were happy at 19k, and they must be feeling so terrible now. Like you said, probably a lot have sold to cut losses. I guess they can only have themselves to blame. I am definitely making one or two more alt buys at this rate, just a little lower first I would presume, and continue dropping until BTC is 10k, before recovering. But what an image the charts are giving us now!
8390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin Guru says BTC and BCH going to 10k then 50k on: December 22, 2017, 12:59:34 PM
10k is bottom range

Now you know when to buy in again

Oh key to BCH move he says is when Coinbase keeps BCH trading on CB

It's been closed to public for 3 days

Yes, but is this not already public knowledge? I think we do not need any gurus telling us when to buy in again, we all know the floor is at 10k. And about BCH? We already saw the effect of Coinbase when trading Bitcoin Cash, so of course it will move up again when trading reopens. But you do know all that trading is manipulated right? They were dishonest, saying first no BCH, then saying BCH credited in January, then opening it to trade for a few insiders. That kind of nonsense makes me so upset that we have so many crypto experts making money on manipulation. Ignore the pump and hype. Just keep your own senses cool.
8391  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Apple have been discussing the posabilities of using Ripple [XRP] on: December 22, 2017, 09:46:54 AM
I thought people would have learned by now not to make the mistake like Iota did talking up the Microsoft partnership and then later having to retract and clarify that there was no such thing. If you really worked at Apple and heard a distinct truth about this then you are in management. If you are a manager and sign up with a newbie account to shill, then Apple really needs to give their managers more work!

With so many platforms to choose from, Apple will go with a big name. Ethereum is more likely, or their own blockchain on Eth.
8392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What are your biggest concerns regarding Cryptocurrencies? on: December 22, 2017, 08:23:46 AM
My biggest concern is that someday the government might shutdown our local exchangers here just like what china did to it.
Shutting it down would mean that we will have a hard time to withdraw our bitcoin locally and we might use another 3rd party which might cost more.
Do  not worry, even if your local government did that we are getting to a point in which bitcoin is going to be accepted in more places,  depending on where you live this is a process that is already underway or that may need more time, but I think that it may take 10 years before we are going to get to the point where all the countries of the world become like Japan.

Yeah, not to worry. For years the government here also tries to force local exchangers to shut down, but then now we all find that they have moved to Yahoo IM, or now Whatsapp and Telegram, just putting up advertisements on P2P boards to get contact.

We are far behind Japan and US, but by the time we get to that stage, Bitcoin and crypto will be seen as mainstream and really, people in governments will not have a choice but to go with the flow. Governments will never give themselves a bad name with citizens so do not worry about losing your funds to them.
8393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Facebook About To Integrate Litecoin As A Payment System...? on: December 21, 2017, 07:18:56 PM
Firstly, we all know that Litecoin is a much better option for fast, cheap, everyday transactions when compared to BTC.

If that's the case they should just go with BCH. Litecoin is cheap, but transaction cost will rise similar to Bitcoin as it gains popularity. Bitcoin Cash is specifically focused on keeping transactions cheap.

That's the same argument for any alt - hence the argument on comparison of simple tx cost and time is bound to fail, as it is slowly failing ETH. You are sorely mistaken to think BCH is immune to this. Have you checked median, mean and average transaction costs for BCH since it launched in August? Do yourself a favor and look it up. In fact, check your fees today. And check it again a year from now. Do not think Bitcoin Cash can forever expand the block size and keep tx fees down. What happens when they get the use (if) they are demanding and desire so much?
8394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why do you ❤️ crypto??? on: December 21, 2017, 05:39:04 PM
Funny to read how a lot of people love crypto because of the community, because of all the knowledge they learn, because of the great ideas and philosophy of crypto. But a majority of posters are not even using accounts more than six months old. I would say yes, for sure a lot of people fall in love instantly but this is with the idea of money and profit, not really a love for the ideals of crypto.

I myself will not claim to hold such ideas and principles, I admit, a lot of the interest that drove me towards learning was about profit. I spent almost all my life in the past, waking up and thinking eating doing crypto.

Now, I spend less time, my expectations are limited, I learnt a lot and continue to do so. Maybe my love for crypto is like when you marry. Not hot and naughty, just kind and caring,,, yes it is funny but I think others can agree?
8395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best ALTs coin for 2018 on: December 21, 2017, 03:19:42 PM
I cannot believe I bought LISK a week or so ago, and then completely forgot I put all my purchases on standing order at a fixed 10% gain. I usually change this after a few days but somehow forgot about it. Today, I was so excited to see it at 145k satoshi. Logged in to sell my coins but found out, sadly, that the order had triggered at my original price of 99k. Ok, so I made 10% from that trade but I could have made almost 60%.

By the way, I think LISK is one of the best to hold for 2018. I will rebuy in once it goes back to 100k after today's extremely good run of moving more than half its value.
8396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: UP 423% in less than 3 months. Buy CombiCoin and invest in TOP 30 coins at once. on: December 21, 2017, 12:00:17 PM
So if I buy Combicoin, my performance is related to the performance of Top 30 coins? But why would I want to do that if I could just as easily spread all my holdings into the top 30 coins? Yes, it may be that I become loaded with burdens of maintaining wallets, but then if I did Top 30, I could exit from the best performing ones and realize profit, while holding onto the others.

I feel it is a good concept, but the risk of Combicoin running away with my money seems too large. Plus, how do we know for sure they invest in top 30 coins and not extra coins we do not know about? Good idea but I need more convincing.
8397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Binance: $BNB The Future of Exchanges. on: December 20, 2017, 05:37:58 PM
I would add here 2 factors:
1. Binance lists a lot of new coins and announces trading contests (the latter I view absolutely unethical);
2. Bittrex has toughened trading requirements (min order size on highly liquid markets might exceed EQV of 20$, on Binance it's 0.01 ETH ~ 8$) and trading system is sluggish - order history lags, order cancellation and placement is burdensome.

Kudos to Binance - they seem to scale well, yet I would not discard Bittrex as the top altcoin exchange:
1. Founders and major personnel is publicly known and the exchange is within US jurisdiction
2. The volume is more stable on established coins, opposed to Binance where traders switch from one new coin to another
3. Better liquidity
4. Better on-site charting tools

BTW, if BNB price rises, you pay more $ in fees Smiley

Yes, I had some trouble accepting it especially when Waves launched with them the new contest, and I am actually a Waves holder. At the basis I felt that this could be seen by others as a way to artificially inflate trade volume, and then also to encourage people to buy as that places them in contention.

I know other coins even Bitcoin had plenty of contests but these were all done by individuals, never by anyone who was in any way a developer.

Binance does well now as it is new, as you said, it gets more expensive as BNB goes up. So it is counter to what they want to achieve.

Either way, I still want to move to decentralized exchanges.
8398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BTC is dead. The plan is a shift to Bitcoin Cash. on: December 20, 2017, 04:19:10 PM
Bitcoin cash is just an altcoin taking advantage of bitcoin, who keeps on dreaming to take over bitcoin very soon which won't be happening anytime. The price is also just a bubble because it is controlled by whale and miners. Bitcoin Cash is just a centralized Bitcoin fork with less fees. They are trying to scam new investors with the name Bitcoin. For me, bitcoin will never die and the price will rise to 100.000usd

That's right, whenever I read this topic, I laugh. Bitcoin cash in nothing but a vampire trying to suck bitcoin community's blood. Existed almost 5 months ago but nothing improved, no innovation, just nothing. A clone, that's all.

I do not laugh, no point to ridicule something that obviously has a lot of value in the short term perspective of cheaper and faster. But this is the point that people do not see yet. It has no innovation, no improvement. A clone with bigger blocks that is it. While Bitcoin has struggles, it continues to improve, the community takes steps even as the developers do. Bitcoin Cash has what, angel investors shilling, insider trading on coinbase,,, the endless list of hype is sickening. But this is the world we have to deal with, a crypto that wins people over because it is all about the money.
8399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES about to go up on: December 20, 2017, 12:02:36 PM
Nice competition going, would probably participate if not for two conditions:

1. I do not have an account on Binance and have no interest in opening one solely to trades Waves.
2. I am a Waves holder and actually do not want to put my holdings on orders. From what I understand of the contest, it is deposits-withdrawals and buys-sells. I probably could buy more but I doubt enough to make it to the top 500, with all the Waves Whales around.

Nevertheless, I wish Waves good luck. Hope to see a bump up before New Year!
8400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New alt coin says it can beat Bitcoin on: December 20, 2017, 09:39:52 AM
Setting price equal to Bitcoin should not determine success, but you must understand that for 99% of the crypto users and traders, not being able to own even one unit of a cryptocurrency that is NOT Bitcoin is a huge psychological objective.

How will this alt beat Bitcoin anyway? All the alts almost claim to do the same, usually in terms of transaction speed and cost, but to truly "beat" BTC, it will not just be about tech or price, it will be about usage and adoption. When more people use an alt than they use Bitcoin, then you can have a solid basis for argument.
