841  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: CFTC attacks DeFi projects on: September 15, 2023, 01:50:26 AM
I always find it weird that these companies register themselves and then launch a so-called defi platform and assume they can be free from government scrutiny. Most of the time they just launch a smart contract and then mint their own tokens while blocking people here and there. I guess the profit outweighs the cons since they just get fined for less than $1 million for now.
842  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some Countries living behind their century, taking a back sit on BTC evolution. on: September 15, 2023, 01:26:25 AM
I personally think more awareness about  the benefits of trading with cryptocurrencies needs to be created particularly in nations where there are restrictions and banned on cryptocurrencies and also it should  be made more simple for easy use no matter the level of one  literacy. More work is needed. What are your thoughts?
Are you trying to say that those bans are there because people don't understand the benefits of trading crypto? I doubt that's the case. I believe governments know to some extent how crypto trading works. If you take a look at those regulations, the key reason is because of volatility and how it can undermine fiat as a national currency. Telling them that people can make 50% or 10x more wealth by selling BTC is not gonna help if 90% of traders lose their money. I don't think you should push that narrative if what you aim for is adoption to begin with. It is not sustainable and will likely make crypto being associated with scams or ponzi even if those are nonsense.
843  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Using Instant Exchange on: September 15, 2023, 01:12:40 AM
In this case, any Instant exchange can be suitable for him. Blockchain analysis companies won't investigate unless they are hired by someone to trace anyone and in this case, OP have no concerns about it.
I don't think this is a good idea. While it is unlikely that a company will investigate him out of nowhere, the chance of his data being sold or accessed by malicious parties still exists. Not to mention the risk of using instant exchange for his fund is quite high (KYC, terrible rate, etc). If I learn anything from Chipmixer or how mixing companies store their customer's data while they claim the opposite, it is unwise to assume nothing can go wrong at all.
844  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I took a proposal to my State Governor to accept Bitcoin Technology on: September 15, 2023, 01:00:48 AM
and also, not many crypto enthusiasts will do such initiative. so hopefully, there will be positive outcome on his endeavour. if he will keep up, but in case, the governor may not really push thru on this. at least, they have idea that someone in their country is already in this market.
One of the obvious reasons is that bureaucracy is a tedious process. In my country at least, unless you live near the capital it would be difficult to meet or propose initiatives to the government. Not to mention you still have to wait and if you're not lucky prepare to get disappointed because your representative doesn't have the time to meet you after months of waiting. Fortunately, internet and social media make it easier to raise issues and awareness without any of that. OP's effort might not yield any result, but his documentation could be useful if anyone will bring this issue to the public in the future.
845  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: catex.io & dex-trade.com on: September 14, 2023, 01:41:36 AM
If you don't feel safe using them, maybe you can look for alternatives to sell your tokens. Are there no DEXes that support your tokens? You can also consider doing a P2P trade on this forum if you don't plan to sell it asap.

My experience using low-tier exchanges is never good, I'd consider using them as a last resort after P2P or DEX. You can also encourage the team behind that project to list on other exchanges. If they don't think that is important, maybe the token doesn't have a bright future so taking more risk can be acceptable.
846  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Swan Bitcoin's custodian acquired by Ripple on: September 14, 2023, 01:36:16 AM
it appears Ripple is beginning to slowly acquire crypto custodial companies before the next bull market. What is their agenda?
Other than increasing their market share and potential profits when the bull run happens, I don't think there are other motives. In other words, another case of businesses expanding their market so that they can keep earning profits even if the market doesn't look great. As long as they don't do stupid things like what Celcius did, I can see why they would love to acquire companies.
847  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Honest question, what to think about “crypto” affiliates or influencers? on: September 14, 2023, 12:58:55 AM
However, all or most of them may be the same, namely that they mostly only care about their pay, without caring about what they are promoting and they usually won't think long about the effect on investors who are attracted by their promotions.
One of the things that surprised me the most is how long it takes for someone like Bitboy to get sued or get his karma after promoting so many scams in the past. I don't know if people are just that gullible, or if the cost to make them responsible is too great. I guess reputation is the last thing that matters to them, especially if they can make millions and pay a fraction of it to defend their case in court.
848  Economy / Gambling / Re: The most liquid companies in the gambling industry on: September 14, 2023, 12:39:42 AM
The index that you used doesn't seem to provide the list of companies that were tracked by it. Where did you get the list? Is it paywalled or did you use AI to guess them?

Some descriptions are definitely taken directly from Wikipedia with little to no changes. If anything, I'd argue that a plagiarism case can be made here.
849  Other / Meta / Re: where we can see the forum time? on: September 14, 2023, 12:33:23 AM
If you are in the signature campaign, it is always advisable to set the timezone according to what your respective manager uses for the cut off time of the posts. For Example, I am in the campaign managed by Hhampuz so I have set my time Offset as +2, in order to meet the CET Time zone.
When did he start doing that? Based on my past participation in his campaigns he uses the forum default timezone as the cut-off.

It is safe to assume that if a manager doesn't explicitly tell you to set your timezone according to theirs, then they will use the forum's default timezone. If you're too lazy you can also check your post and see the timestamp when it was registered on the forum (assuming you never touch the timezone setting). CMIIW.
850  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: where can I make a loan with collateral with small interest on: September 13, 2023, 02:10:12 AM
What is the purpose of this loan? If you want to get BTC and then sell it later to gain profit, might as well sell your gadget and buy crypto directly. You can then use that crypto to get a loan on this forum. With some management, you should be able to do that with acceptable risk. That being said, getting a loan with the goal of making a profitable trade is usually not recommended.

If that is not your purpose then I second the suggestion to just get a fiat loan since you're fine with USDT in the first place. Less hassle and probably lowers scam risk depending on where you live. CMIIW.
851  Economy / Economics / Re: Sabine Hossenfelder - Web3: World-changing tech or just a scam? on: September 13, 2023, 01:37:15 AM
As awareness grows, so will responsible practices and regulations. It might seem slow now, but each discussion, each project, is a step towards a future of widespread crypto adoption.
I don't really like relying on regulation to improve the rate of adoption. Not to mention people can already run their own payment system with open source software without giving any personal data. I believe the key issue is the technical side if we're talking from the seller's perspective. Other than that, I do believe Bitcoin already reached its goal as a trustless payment currency that doesn't rely on central authorities to issue and confirm new transactions.

Sometimes I wonder what kind of future are people looking for when they mean "world-changing tech" or "mass adoption". Is it being able to pay for your coffee with BTC in 1 second, use your BTC on your toll-gate without relying on fiat conversion, be able to live with your BTC on a remote island, or something else? It doesn't help that sometimes they just lump different projects together without explaining the developer's ideas when they start the projects.
852  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are Technical Indicators useless? on: September 13, 2023, 01:27:19 AM
While some months i've learned how to code Pine Script on Tradingview and backtest with it. But i can't get good results even if many combination of indicators.  Undecided  When i look at past data manually, it works smoothly but this data retrospective and indicators can't drawn in future.
So you backtest your trading method and it works better compared to recent trades, or did you manually test each indicator on past data? Which combination you've done so far? What are your order settings? Maybe people can help you better if we know the exact trading algorithm/settings that you use. Using too many indicators can give you extra trouble since some of them can be contradictory.

That being said, you should not expect a consistent success rate if your data sources are not comparable. Like, if you compare the backtest to short-term trading, it is likely that the result would look horrible as mentioned above. CMIIW.
853  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: AMPL and Meter Bridge ucking scam https://passport.meter.io + Ampleforth SCAM! on: September 13, 2023, 12:41:09 AM
Unfortunately the second time I received far fewer tokens than I sent. Meter Bridge says that this is due to the AMPL token. The AMPL team wash their hands of it and say that they have no influence. For me they are fucking scammers.
What exactly are they telling you? Do you know how AMPL works? How long is the bridging process happened and at what time? Losing 800 USD sounds like a lot if it is just because of rebase unless you're trading a lot of money.

I've been following and participating in their community for a while, and I don't think they've ever scammed people. Most of the time people just don't understand how to use their token.
854  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it possible to bridge BTC onchain to ETH ? on: September 13, 2023, 12:21:44 AM
It doesn't support any other token, so what's the point of bridging? Maybe there are a lot of developers who think about that. In my perspective, it is possible, but making a move is difficult.
Most of the time something like this is designed with a trading purpose in mind. Faster transaction and relatively cheap fee to transfer with a shaky guarantee that you don't lose your Bitcoin as long as you don't sell your wrapped tokens. Tokenization is the last thing that matters when people do this. Even if they did, you can argue that you don't need other chains and use Bitcoin instead. It is really not difficult, others give you examples of services doing that already. CMIIW.
855  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: UK’s Travel Rule comes into effect on: September 12, 2023, 01:51:27 AM
What I am curious about is to see if they will appear some countries as safe havens to be able to trade Bitcoin with minimum KYC requirements,  with amounts under certain thresholds exempt from reporting and things like that, apart from El Salvador.
Probably the same country that acts as a tax haven. I think it should be expected if you rely on centralized services that you'll need to give your data sooner or later. Giving them to an overseas government probably has a higher risk compared to your local government, especially if you don't have any legal means to take back your money. It is unlikely that your government will help you either unless you hold a lot of power there. People should be prepared to use P2P more in the future if they want to avoid them.
856  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We Are To Turn Bitcoin into a Global payment Network - Former PayPal President on: September 12, 2023, 01:44:35 AM
Your analogy of “trying to make water wet” suggests that you believe Bitcoin already functions as a global payment system. Indeed, Bitcoin is already used for transactions worldwide. However, Marcus’ statement likely refers to enhancing the efficiency, speed, and accessibility of these transactions.
It is also worth noting that his way of enhancement is basically making it controlled through centralization afaik. I don't think that is surprising. Most big finance platforms won't give up control and would prefer to profit from new things like Bitcoin. I don't think this is how most Bitcoiners like to use Bitcoin as a payment network, so disagreement should be expected. At the end of the day, this won't stop any development on the Bitcoin network as long as there is community behind it.
857  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ouch, today someone made a transaction with over $500k fee. on: September 12, 2023, 01:21:35 AM
Although I can imagine a lot of miners participating in their pool might not be happy about it. After all, it's their money, so any offers like that should be somehow agreed with them.
I don't see how practical it would be for them to ask every miner if they agree or not. It can also affect their image if they do a poll or something similar. I believe doing something like this would give them better PR and the user would likely give them a bonus instead. But yeah, we don't really know what is happening behind the scenes. Maybe the the user can't provide any proof and the money still belongs to the pool anyway.

or maybe they're totally unaware of the blunder.

It would be really odd if they never realized they received so little of their funds from doing a simple transaction.
858  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin transaction pending for 5+ days on: September 12, 2023, 12:58:00 AM
If not, will request that the buyer pays again and I will send back his first 2 transactions in case they get confirmed later, which I seriously doubt.
From what I've read so far it seems like you are not using a payment processor to process your deal (CMIIW). I suggest you look for an open source payment processor so you don't have to manually check the confirmation and the buyer would likely get incentivized to pay a reasonable fee since their deal won't get processed if they failed to send a confirmed transaction within a time frame. You should spend some time browsing this forum with keyword like "payment processor", you'll definitely learn a lot and knows what to avoid as a seller. Good luck.
859  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Looking for testers of our better Bitcoin wallet on: September 12, 2023, 12:40:51 AM
- Must have an iPhone (Testflight-based for now)
I have a Mac with Xdeveloper tools installed. I run many iOS apps like games on it. Not sure if it is ideal for testing ground either but I can help if you're interested in this. Since you offered a payment, I think you should move the thread to another board as suggested above.

To recover, you need access to your Keychain and the approval of your recovery contact in the app. We also have a version using email, where the key is split among your recovery contacts and encrypted with a code emailed to you
So basically it relies on our contacts or e-mails to do this social recovery? If I don't have any trusted persons, won't this be useless? Sure I can make and manage e-mails on my own, but it would be troublesome and the risk would be high. CMIIW.
860  Local / Topik Lainnya / Re: [Diskusi] - Semua Tentang Ibu Kota Negara (IKN) Indonesia on: September 11, 2023, 03:42:16 AM
