841  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most of your coins are going to be worthless in years. on: June 17, 2021, 06:50:58 AM
It surprises me that in cryptocurrency market the users never learn anything from what happened in the past. Scamcoins and shitcoins have existed for many many years and in 99% of the cases these coins died out within 12 months of their listing. The methodology used by these scammers is very simple. They will plagiarize the white paper and algorithm of the existing projects and will launch a copycat project with a lot of hype in the social media. Once they are able to get a great deal of interest from the users, they will dump their coins. And after a few months, this cycle will be repeated with another project.

There is some disappointing news coming in. At first I was happy that finally the ICC had taken a positive view on the inclusion of cricket in the Olympics. But now they are saying that the competition will be limited to a total of 8 teams. When the world cup (from 2027 onward) will witness the participation of 14 teams, I was hoping for at least 16-20 teams in the Olympics. This is very disappointing news for the associate nations. The format to be used will be T20, and there was no surprise at least on that aspect.
843  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I lost all my crypto gains this not fair! on: June 16, 2021, 04:58:27 PM
I had 3k on pancakeswap and did almost 4x now is return to break even.
I had Ethereum 4.7 now its 2k
I had ada $2 now is 1.5
Also I lost in ogn

I lost a lot of money on crypto more than 8000$

Is it recoverble this year?

I don't understand these people. When their investment in stocks or real estate go down, then they will say that it is a temporary fluctuation and they are sure that the prices will go back to the previous levels in 1-2 years. But when the crypto prices go down only for a few weeks, there is widespread panic and alarms start ringing. Why there is one approach with one set of asset, and another with a different set? And this is despite the fact that cryptocurrencies in the past had provided better returns in the long term, when compared to any other asset.
844  Economy / Economics / Re: Trump regrets not banning twitter as he hails Nigerian government for doing so on: June 16, 2021, 04:15:10 PM
This is not a big news, it is just Trump and Twitter feud because it gets clicks and that's it, but I still think whenever an ex president does something it is a news because people read about it.

The younger generation no longer watch cable news or read news papers. Among them, social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter will be having a disproportional impact. If someone like Trump is unable to use the platform, then it puts him at a huge disadvantage when compared to his rivals. And this actually happened during the POTUS elections of 2020. Many of his tweets were flagged, and in the end the account got suspended. Social media really harmed Trump during his presidential re-run.
845  Economy / Economics / Re: Economy after COVID-19 on: June 16, 2021, 04:04:24 PM
So far, I think that having a vaccine is enough to help prevent COVID-19,
although it's not 100% completely prevent but it's much better,
I hope more people get vaccinated soon and we'll see what happens

As of now, it looks as if vaccine is the only solution. But the biggest challenge is that it is not easy to vaccinate 7.5 billion people. Most of the countries have fully vaccinated only a small percentage of their population. And a majority hasn't started administering vaccines to those who are below the age of 18. It is going to take at least a minimum of 12 months to control the pandemic with vaccines (and that too with an optimistic estimate). And until then, the new strains of the virus will create spikes in the number of new infections and deaths.

Wow!!!! It's really close. I would go with Turkey, because they enjoy the home advantage (Azerbaijan is a Turkic nation, so it is almost like they are playing in Turkey). On top of that, recent performances by Turkey has been good (they have lost only one out of their last 6 matches). And another thing to remember here is that, historically Turkey has a good record against Wales. Also, one issue for Wales is their overdependence on Gareth Bale. Turkey is not that dependent on any one player.
847  Economy / Economics / Re: Bulgaria Government Shocked To Discover It Owns $3 Billion In Bitcoin on: June 16, 2021, 02:47:03 PM
Yeah right, and how is better to be debt-free and living in poverty than 100% in debs and with the country being in the most envied in the world!
Ask any Bulgarian citizen what would they prefer, debt-free and the poorest in the EU or 3 times the current debt and the living standards in Slovenia?
Oh wait, looking at how many Bulgarian have fled the country to debt impoverished countries I think we have the answer already!

I get your point, but the money can't be stolen if it is used for repayment of debt. If it is used for any other purpose, at least a part of it would be stolen. I don't know much about the political situation in Bulgaria, but I have heard that there is a lot of corruption in the Balkan nations. IMO, the best thing to do for the Bulgarian government would be to hold these coins for the long term, with a target of $250,000 per coin, or $500,000 per coin. They can simply add this stash to their forex reserves (if they haven't done that already).
848  Economy / Economics / Re: George Soros and Bezos have paid almost zero taxes on: June 16, 2021, 02:35:04 PM
Someone mentioned a wealth tax not working in France and that was probably because people can just hop country within Europe and kinda internationally too.

France used the typical socialist approach, by just imposing sky high taxes without thinking about the practicality. When Hollande was the president, the rate of income tax was raised to 75% for those who earn more than 1 million Euro. The tax collection actually went down, because many of those who earn at this level simply moved to the other EU nations. Wealth tax is another controversial topic. In many of the countries, it is launched with a lot of fanfare, but the actual tax collection remains at negligible levels.
849  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: June 16, 2021, 02:23:08 PM
Russia plays horribly! This is not football, but a circus! (While writing the post, they finally managed to score a goal!)
Too bad the Finns didn't get a goal scored! On the replay you could see that Finn's foot position was not offside...  I think VAR's are killing football!

VAR is killing football? It was clear offside and this is why we have VAR. The referee had a hard time in differentiating the small margin and he called for VAR. And it clearly showed that the Finnish player was in offside position. But I agree with you on Russia. They wasted so many good opportunities. And the player who performing the best got injured (Mario Fernandes). Also some of the Russians got yellow card for very unfair tackles. At this point, even a draw would be enough for Finland. Because they already have 3 points from their previous game.
850  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: June 16, 2021, 08:13:42 AM
Finland vs Russia,i guess Russia will win, Russia lost their last game to the mighty Belgium, Russia must win tonight.
Turkey vs Wales,a close game,0:0.
Italy vs Switzerland,i am totally agree with you.

Finland vs Russia is unpredictable and it is the most important match today. If somehow Finland can manage a win, that means that Denmark doesn't qualify to the knockout phase (unless they can beat Belgium, which is near impossible). Regrading the other two matches, they don't have much significance. If Wales win today, then they have a chance of advancing to the next stage. Turkey's chances are very slim after their heavy defeat in the first match. Italy already has 3 points, so they are in a very comfortable position.
851  Economy / Economics / Re: Xi Jinping Beats Crypto, Bitcoin Mine Closes on: June 16, 2021, 07:40:08 AM
I did not see any change or drop in the hash rate in the Bitcoin network and usually the transaction charges goes through the roof if major mining powers are shut down by force, but i did not see anything to come to that conclusion because i am able to send Bitcoin at really low transaction charges for the past few days and these are just FUD because the market is trying to break a major resistance  Cheesy.

This is what makes me suspicious as well. On multiple occasions we hear about Chinese provinces shutting down the mining operations. But the only instance when I noticed a drop in the mining hash rate was a few weeks ago, when Inner Mongolia temporarily asked the miners to suspend their operations. I heard similar news from provinces such as Xinjiang and Qinghai, but there was zero impact on the hash rate. Also, there was similar news from Iran as well. And once again, the hash rate remained at the same level.
852  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: June 16, 2021, 07:28:04 AM
^^^^ I am afraid that in the end it will come to a choice between Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohammad Siraj. Given the stats and recent form, I would go with Ashwin. For the pace bowling lineup, I would prefer Mohammad Shami, Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah. Now I am not sure whether Kohli would be OK with this. He may replace Ishant with Siraj, given that Ishant is a genuine tail end batsmen. But I would still prefer Ishant, as he is more suitable to the English conditions and has tons of experience.
853  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: June 15, 2021, 04:41:44 PM
Two strong squads will play against each other. The Indian squad looks pace-dependent. And against a strong batting lineup like New Zealand, the Indian team needs experienced pace bowlers like Bumrah and Shami. We will be able to enjoy a very competitive match. It is very difficult to predict about this match. However, I hope New Zealand will win.

Well.. this is a very surprising comment. Actually the New Zealand team is more dependent on the pace bowlers. They have the best pace bowlers in the world, but they fare poorly in the spin bowling department. On the other hand, India has experienced spinners including Ashwin and Jadeja. And don't think that spin will have no role to play, as the match is taking place in England. Some of the analysts claim that the track will offer a lot of support for the spinners from the 3rd day onward. Someone like Ashwin should be able to take advantage of it.
854  Economy / Economics / Re: George Soros and Bezos have paid almost zero taxes on: June 15, 2021, 04:27:38 PM
And when he sells those he will pay tax, right? So what has he avoided?
Exactly what I've said, you're looking at all this without trying to analyze the situation one step further, you show a general situation and you draw a conclusion before it is even finalized. What if those plots fall by 50% next year? Why should have paid taxes for losses?
~~~
In this case, the total purchase price for the 10 plots is $10 million, and the selling price is also $10 million. So in the end, the individual pays zero taxes, since the capital gains amount to $0. But it will be unfair to say that only the super-rich can do this. For example, I am using this strategy (with stocks, and not with real estate) for the last one decade to avoid paying any capital gains tax (here in India, long term capital gains up to a certain limit is exempted from tax). One negative that I could foresee is that people like me may face financial emergencies, and may need to sell stocks that are up by 100% or 200%. The super-rich may have enough liquid cash in their hand, to take care of these emergencies. So they don't need to sell such stocks.
855  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: June 15, 2021, 04:15:01 PM
You are right, BCCI is saving a lot of money by holding IPL in UAE. Moreover, even though the IPL was held in India at the moment, the Indian government did not allow spectators to go on the field. However, as a general spectator I am happy if the IPL is held. Because IPL is just entertainment for me. And I will bet on IPL matches.
It is true that the BCCI is saving a lot of money by conducting the tournament in one of the tax havens. But at the same time, the government was compelling them to stage the remainder of the tournament in India. The government is also running short of money (as the tax collections have been impacted by the COVID pandemic). In the end, Ganguly and the rest of the BCCI management convinced the central government that foreign players are unlikely to take part if the tournament is held in India.
856  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: When will be bearish market over?? on: June 15, 2021, 02:12:40 PM
Those who are holding their coins for the long term doesn't need to be bothered about the short term fluctuations. All we need to check is whether the global adoption rate and the user base is increasing or not. And they are increasing at a rate beyond our expectation. Ups and downs are part of the cryptocurrency market and we don't need to be rattled by them. In the last 12 months or so, Bitcoin has seen several ground breaking adoption events (PayPal, Tesla, El Salvador.etc). This means that the future outlook is in good health.
857  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: busd or USDT safe on: June 15, 2021, 02:00:16 PM
I trust Usdt more, it still exists despite all the courts and claims. But at the same time, busd deserves attention, because the binance exchange trustworthy.
As far as USDT is concerned, the court cases are not settled and their funds can be seized (although the possibility of that happening is very low). Till now they have refused a third party audit on their reserves. Also, they have refused to provide a detailed breakup of the reserve funds. All we know is that around 49% of the reserves is made of "commercial paper". Now this commercial paper can be from trustworthy companies, or from shady entities. Since they are refusing to provide a detailed breakup, I would assume that it is the latter case.
858  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: June 15, 2021, 01:48:08 PM
Six World Championships and five European Championships. It would be enough to add up the rich palmares of the two national teams to define a challenge like the one between France and Germany, a heated rivalry that dates back to the dawn of time. Two superpowers, two superarmies of world soccer that find themselves, due to a bizarre draw, competing for the first place in the terrible Group F of Euro 2020.
This game is very hard to predict but it'll be a must watch.
IMHO, the countless solutions that Deschamps has at his disposal tip the scales in favor of France. And with the likes of Mbappé and Griezmann on the field, they can't help but be slightly favored over their German rivals. Germany's attack has been struggling lately, but this looks like a match with at least three goals in total, where both teams will score. Other than that, only God knows!
OK.. I see that more than 90% of the users here think that this is going to be an evenly contested match. But I don't agree. IMO, France is going to thrash Germany today. I am not expecting anything less than a 3 goal margin. France is in unstoppable form right now and the current German team is no match for them. BTW, I don't know how these two teams ended up in the same group. France is currently ranked #2 by FIFA, while Germany is at #12. How these two teams can end up in the same group?
859  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: June 15, 2021, 01:36:44 PM
@Sithara007 this shall be a blow for the franchises as BCCI had already reduced their revenues, and I feel they’ll try and allow spectators back in the stadium as it makes financial sense. Furthermore I feel Dubai situation is much better, and we should be able to see the fans in the stand unless a new wave of covid starts.
The decision is not in the hands of the BCCI. If the UAE government doesn't allow spectators, then BCCI can't go against that decision. At the most, they can move the tournament to some other country, but this option is not viable now. They should not complain much. There is no entertainment tax or corporate tax in the UAE. If this tournament was conducted in India, then the BCCI will be forced to pay 43% of the total revenues as tax to the government. They are saving all that amount and therefore it would be a good idea to reimburse some of that money to the franchises.
860  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: June 15, 2021, 01:24:52 PM
^^^ OK.. so some of the quesitons have been answered. Washington Sundar will not be a part of the playing XI. The choice of spinner is going to be between Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin (and there is a chance that both of them would be included in the XI). Wriddhiman Saha is the reserve keeper, so he is not going to be a part of the XI (unless Rishabh Pant gets injured). Some confusion still persists regarding the selection of the pace bowlers. Two out of the five needs to be dropped. IMO, it should be Siraj and Umesh.
