862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can we tweak or convert ANTMINER S9 14Th/s To Do mining in other algorithm? on: November 01, 2023, 12:57:45 PM
Can we tweak or convert ANTMINER S9 14Th/s To Do mining in other algorithm like Litecoin or Monero?

Thanks
Theoretically, this can be done, but the hashrate will be very small and the consumption will be very high, due to the fact that the chips in this ASIC are made for mining a specific SHA256 algorithm. So you can use this ASIC for any coins with the SHA256 algorithm. This is the main problem with ASICs, as opposed to video cards.
Phil Zimmermann's thoughts about PGP - We all should read them

Mulțumesc, nullius,

Industrial mining can only be done if electricity is cheaper than 4,5 cents, and the cheaper the electricity, the cheaper the equipment you can use. If your electricity costs 1-2 cents, then you can use used S17 ASICs and their analogues, or next year buy used S 19 ASICs, but there are few such places in the world.

Mining equipment is one time cost while electricity is a continuous cost that miners have to bear. Cheap electricity must be the first rule in your check list before you proceed to mining, my few satoshis.
If we assume that you have a location in the center of Africa with the price of electricity 2 cents, but there are no ASIC repair services there, delivery of equipment there is very expensive and risky, because there are military coups in neighboring countries, then will you be able to safely mine coins there?

867  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Help with cloud mining please! on: October 28, 2023, 04:55:11 PM
Hi
How about crepto tab
It is scam???
I don’t think this is a scam, because the browser is working, but on weak processors, mining will give a few cents of profit per day, and a lot of electricity will be spent. Even if this is a working computer, there is little profit here either.
If you are interested in mining on processors, then check out these statistics on popular processors for mining.
https://hashrate.no/cpus
Cryptotab browser wasn't meant to be a scam but if it is then so be it, anything is possible in crypto space, if they aren't paying up it means they are done with been faithful to their users, till this day many new cloud projects are still coming up, not necessarily cloud mining but also cloud storage, I knew like two since 2018 and they are woefully a failure, back to cloud mining, I believe they are all scams.

It's obvious because mining is all about calculations, you need certain hardware to start mining and it will get to a point where they become obsolete, also another factor is mining difficulty, as more new miners are direct to Bitcoin mining it becomes very hard to mine, and also less profitable, so cloud mining is now -99% profitable, how will someone now create a graphical detailed website for cloud mining and you believe them?

Cloud mining is dead since 2018 bear market, everything changed at that time, and Bitcoin became more popular compare to 2013 when it was easier to mine, if you see a running cloud mining today it's either they are on brand new PoW coins or they are scam if they talk about Bitcoin mining.
I don’t think this is a scam, there are many such projects. If a beginner wants to mine, then he needs to master the main thing - this is a mining calculator. If he is satisfied with the profit, then he can install mining on a PC and mine on the processor himself, rather than sharing the profit with unnecessary intermediaries.

Usually in serious spa salons there are no lockers for things. Usually you book a bath apartment for a family or company for a while and there are no strangers in this room. There are also public bath complexes where there are lockers, but I haven’t been to such baths for a long time.
869  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: One rig different GPUs on: October 28, 2023, 04:41:10 PM
Can be done but your rig might be prone to slightly more freezes and micromanagement.

In my experience, using the same GPU model (even the same manufacturer) for 1 rig and having 1 overarching set of OC parameters per rig has yielded more stability compared to micro managing each individual card.

Even for the same GPU, performance can vary somewhat depending on the RAM or the manufacturer...
I have had many times when one of 6 cards does not support memory overclocking. As a result, 5 cards work with an overclock of +600 and one card works without overclocking, because with any overclocking of the memory of this video card, the mining farm either freezes or reboots. And I need several of them to calculate such a video card, and sometimes there are 2 such video cards in a mining farm Smiley

You Can Marinate In Water Heated By Bitcoin Mining At This NYC Spa
Bathhouse has one location in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and another opening in Flatiron, NYC
Bathhouse is a super-trendy spa located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, with a new location set to open sometime in the near future in Manhattan’s Flatiron district. If its sans serif font and ultra-minimalist website don’t already scream New York City Elite, then the way it heats its pools absolutely shouts it from the rooftops: Bathhouse mines bitcoin to warm its baths.

Evaluating BTC’s Q3 mining report as it sheds light on these patterns
Bitcoin’s hashrate stood at 17% in January; it later grew to 27% in October.
On another note, several public Bitcoin miners are aggressively expanding to adapt to the Bitcoin halving that takes place next year.
The recent bull run in the market has put the spotlight back on Bitcoin BTC. We decided to look at its relationship vis-à-vis the performance of the crypto mining sector.

Information from our chat: “There are currently only 2 miners for this algorithm: WildRig Multi and CCMiner.
Only WildRig can be used in the Hive os.
The SkyDoge-optimized version of CCMiner works only on Windows, but produces on average 2 times more hashrate."

873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Nvidia to make Arm-based PC chips in major new challenge to Intel on: October 27, 2023, 04:37:01 PM
ARM processors you will need to adapt a lot of software.

Not really. The compiler takes care of most of it. Only low level code like intrinsics & ASM or some code segments that can take advantage of
the architectural differences need to be rewritten.

Porting something like Virtualbox is a big challenge because it's all architecture specific. but for something like spreadsheets, vectorizing is the
same regardless of architecture. Doing cpuminer-opt requires around 500 lines of code, less because there are many blank lines and all the
optimization is targetted code.

Full featured Linux distributions exist so those apps are already done. I don't know why MS is dragging their heels with their's, they're sellling ARM
laptops with Windows. It's a bad look they didn't do the job properly, but I rant.
I only know that now I shouldn’t buy a laptop with a processor worse than core i3 and a frequency of at least 3 GHz, otherwise the laptop runs very slowly. But I've seen a lot of slow, cheap laptops that run slowly on cheap processors. Therefore, I avoid such cheap processor replacements.
874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Asus H81M-C motherboard? on: October 27, 2023, 04:28:59 PM
Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2 motherboard has only two PCIE slots.
I used two PCIE splitters: DCBTC2 PCIE Splitter.
It drives 8 GPU without any poblem.

I asked about the other mobo because I found really cheap price mobo + cpu + ram.
So i asked about it. I think i will buy one set and try.
Then i will decide to buy more or not.
What video cards will you install in the farm?
Raisers do not have protection against short circuits and therefore video cards can burn out in the event of any malfunction. Miners don’t use this method now.
If you want to mine coins for a long time, then my experience has taught me to use new equipment. In the interval of 2-4 years you will lose more on failures and time on setup and so on. What you want to do will only work as a temporary solution, but nothing more.
875  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Questionnaire to help me start mining on: October 26, 2023, 03:53:09 PM
I didn't notice this topic. but if the price of electricity is 20 cents, then mining is not your business. The price of Bitcoin must increase 4-5 times, and the difficulty must not increase, in order for it to be profitable to mine with 20 cents per kilowatt. But I don’t think we will see this.

I also heard a lot of rumors about the SHA-256 protocol

Some wonder if there could be a conspiracy afoot in which the NSA plans to use a backdoor in SHA-256 to either identify individuals or drain their wallets of funds. However, there is no evidence of this aside from the fact that the NSA contributed to the development of several hashing algorithms. It is therefore unlikely that the NSA has much to do with Bitcoin’s development otherwise.

878  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Goerli Mining on: October 26, 2023, 03:34:27 PM
As we all know, mining means setting up a ring with a high-end ASIC miner, mining BTC, and ETH.
But is it possible to mine Goerli or Sepholi ETH? I learn this info from chatGPT.
I want to know that, if it is possible, then it will be great, therefore getting Goerli/Sepholi ETH is now very time-consuming.

When I needed Goerli Ethereum, I bought them on this site to participate in competitions and testing projects.
https://testnetbridge.com/
I spent a very small amount of Ethereum and the test Goerli Ethereum lasted me for a long time. I have not looked into mining these test coins.
879  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Nvidia to make Arm-based PC chips in major new challenge to Intel on: October 26, 2023, 03:28:34 PM
It must be said that ARM processors also have other manufacturers and this business also has good competition. Still, for Windows it is easier to use regular x86 processors, because they are suitable for all tasks; for ARM processors you will need to adapt a lot of software.
