8761  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Encrypted wallet: private keys still unencrypted!!! on: November 10, 2011, 04:05:57 PM
Wow. That is a problem. So we still need to encrypt our wallet file, even if it is encrypted by the client?

While I do like the idea of a "stabbing pen", is there any chance of listing firearms? I'm looking for an AR-15 or maybe a nice handgun.

Troll detected.

Protip 2: the fact that you don't know what they are, don't imply that THEN they are coffins  Roll Eyes Like you spammed in the title.

Did you ever saw coffins such these being used as coffins somewhere? Where?
I hear what your saying, but those do look like the "Hurcules" coffins used for mass casualty.

@SgtSpike Wow 5 break-ins! That might change my opinion also. I still might not shoot a burglar if I caught him, but I might rob him before letting him go. Cheesy

The medical reserve corp that I'm part of trains with FEMA for mass casualty events. There is nothing shocking to me about stacks of coffins and relocation camps. What do you think an A-bomb event would look like? These are the assets we will need.

I think it's terrible that we cannot shoot criminals for theft.  If someone's stealing my car, why SHOULDN'T I be able to shoot them?

There'd be a heck of a lot less theft if people were actually able to defend their own property properly.
I don't know sarge. Do you really own anything worth more than a life? It's not that I'm a pacifist, like any American I have all sorts of guns and I have a Utah permit to carry. But I would not shoot anyone for stealing my stuff, even my bitcoins. Shocked
I've seen war and killing on three continents now, they are not good memories.

I would invest in a drugs futures market. Considering how consistently people have used drugs since before recorded history, I think it would be a very conservative bet.

Why the shit would he want to use Ubuntu?
Ubuntu is miles ahead of windows. With the exception of gaming, I don't understand why anyone uses windows.

I'll be out of the country and can't bid on this. But if did not have plans, I would do this for sure. It's a great deal.
8772  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Let's say I back up my wallet.dat while it's encrypted... on: November 07, 2011, 08:08:13 PM
If two copies of a wallet exist and one of them does a transaction, then that one becomes the wallet and invalidates the other.

I'm pretty sure this isn't the case...?

AFAIK, you wallet just holds the private keys to access a particular address on the blockchain.

That is not true.

If you have two copies of the wallet and one performs a transaction then as long as there are sufficient keys in the keypool the other (backup) copy can be brought up to date by simply connecting it to the network.

Oh, now I see how wrong I was. I have to stop posting just before lunch.  Lips sealed

8774  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How did you get your first bitcoin? on: November 07, 2011, 05:31:47 PM
My wife was right to think I was crazy when I bought my first bitcoins. I sent cash to the P.O. box of a guy in another country, known to me only by his screen name. I think I was paying about $.74 / coin.  Her opinion changed when I sold/spent at about $20.00.
8775  Other / Off-topic / Re: I just got Hacked! on: November 07, 2011, 02:40:49 PM
I would not assume your wallet has not been copied. Especially if you are using an encrypted wallet. Your thief could be trying to brute force the password as we speak. It might be worth it to put that wallet on another computer and do some kind of transaction. Then the wallet he/she has will no longer be valid.
8776  Other / Politics & Society / Re: when should you shoot a cop on: November 06, 2011, 02:55:29 PM
NEVER

He just wiped his ass with your favorite flag and is raping your wife and yelling about how he's going to kill your kids.
I don't think I can kill anyone in my state to stop a rape. Rape does not mean that your life is in danger. Fortunately he specifically added that he is going to also kill them. So, bang bang. Footstep footstep, bang.

Why is everyone so obsessed with SR? Can't you get drugs where you are?

8779  Other / Off-topic / Re: Judge beats daughter for using the internet on: November 03, 2011, 03:34:52 PM
If beating children worked, I'd beat them all the time. But all it does is hurt them and diminish their lives.  Undecided
