881  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: This might become a very important legal precedent for SEC vs. Coinbase on: September 05, 2023, 02:08:38 AM
However, I do not disagree that these are man made and some of these projects might be a scam but under an environment with unclear and undefined crypto regulations because the SEC refuses to make them clear, the judges are doing uncle Gary's job for him. According to these judges, they are not securites.
Even if they release a detailed guideline to define what is security and what isn't, isn't it possible that the judges will disagree with their definition too? Maybe someone will definitely bring it to court if the SEC defines security too broadly, but it won't stop the SEC from fining anyone especially those who have no money to defend themselves.
882  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitfinex holds bitcoin on its balance sheet on: September 05, 2023, 01:48:09 AM
Yes, most of the addresses have names on them, but a few don't. Some only have names without addresses, but there are figures added to their names, and the accuracy of those figures gets me worried.
Are you referring to those self-reported figures or just the number of whales in general? Or are you referring to the privacy risk associated with it? If you're just a regular trader I don't think you need to worry that much. Most of these addresses are trackable and it doesn't take a lot of time to consolidate which address is owned by whom as long as you have enough data. Most of them are exchanges or organizations that can be tracked easily imo. If you never use centralized exchange or if you mix your coins/use coinjoin then it should add another layer of privacy to protect your identity. But then again it doesn't matter if you willingly give your details to somebody else including which addresses you own, etc.
883  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Atlantis conference in Madeira Island on: September 05, 2023, 01:23:34 AM
42 euro for an event is not bad. Who are the organizers? I have just checked it seems legit to me.
This is exclusive to local residents though. You'll have to pay at least 240 euros if you want to participate if you're the average joe. Not sure if that's worth the money since the next level costs four times as much. I guess the VIP label is really expensive for a conference like this. I can't check anything on their Twitter since I don't have an account, but it seems like the organizer is called Free Madeira. Their sponsors are also unknown to me. I'd say better wait and see before buying anything.
884  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Biden administration unveils (proposes) new crypto tax reporting rules on: September 05, 2023, 01:13:11 AM
Government is all about continuty. And it is not only the president that is the government of our country. The government is made up of both the legislative arm and the executive arm. If the law eventually passes through the judiciary legislature and confirmed by executive and enforced under a particular president. It means it has become a standard, any other incoming president will follow, for you not to follow shows that you have an interior motive. Which  might not be nice for the people of America. So, pray it shouldn't be enforced because it works, no more going back.
I'm not an expert on law by any means, but as far as I can remember some laws do change and a new president can introduce change or stop legislation from being enforced, as long as all involved bodies agree of course. Not sure if that will happen since most countries would likely want to tax crypto as aggressively as possible. AFAIK in my country any crypto transaction is taxed regardless of the volume, but you can still do P2P with no trouble. It is better for me since it allows me to pay less tax compared to before, although it doesn't contribute anything to privacy or data security at all.
885  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: ELECTRUM - BITCOIN WALLET on: September 04, 2023, 08:42:39 AM
886  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: Apakah Bitcoin Akan Sepopuler Ini Jika Satoshi Masih Ada? on: September 04, 2023, 02:28:42 AM
887  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: [INFO] Informasi Phishing, Malware, Virus Dst (WAJIB BACA) on: September 04, 2023, 02:05:19 AM

CMIIW.

888  Local / Ekonomi, Politik, dan Budaya / Re: Jakarta Darurat Polusi on: September 04, 2023, 01:42:31 AM
889  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: Platform Exchanges Di Indonesia on: September 04, 2023, 01:26:54 AM
CMIIW.
890  Other / Meta / Re: Is Bitcointalk source code public? on: September 03, 2023, 12:49:13 PM
I think he meant the customization part is not shared. That is indeed the base code for the forum afaik. You can see which version this forum is based on the footer easily. CMIIW.
891  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Im looking for investors for interesting project idea real estate on: September 03, 2023, 11:14:44 AM
This is probably my fifth time seeing more or less similar ideas being discussed. If you're referring to cryptocurrency-based ownership like tokens or Bitcoin-based tokens, I don't think you'll find much success seeing how most of those projects went bankrupt or ditched crypto completely. I'm talking about a company by the way, not some random internet user who crowdfunds from their internet peers. Personally, I don't think you'll find much success seeing your competitors are apps like Robinhood. CMIIW.
892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best suited place for bitcoin symbol's before or after amounts? on: September 02, 2023, 12:49:14 AM
The top's correct so looks better BTC100
I won't really call it correct since there's no standard as mentioned above. It probably feels that way because you're more familiar with it, just like how you write fiat. At the end of the day, this is just a matter of consensus, and I've never seen one argue strongly against the other. I'd say just use whatever you like, the other party is likely going to understand anyway.
893  Economy / Economics / Re: Are you risking investment in other things? on: September 02, 2023, 12:32:39 AM
I'm actually planning to buy a franchise in the short term to increase my capital. I also buy ETFs that are available in my market and invest in some other business, but with the money I invested, I doubt it will outperform my crypto portfolio when the next bull run happens. But diversification is always a good thing, as much as I believe in BTC I don't have that much luxury to rely only on it to give me a massive return in the short term. Time will tell whether my decision is correct and whether I'm lucky.
894  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: New Wallet for Crypto Gaming and Gamers on: September 01, 2023, 11:12:11 AM
All those different wallets were developed by the developer of the games. Almost all of them a standard cryptocurrency wallets. For end-users to go back and forth between different wallets is a hassle. Having all those NFTs, and cryptocurrencies in a single place is a great shortcut.
How will you ensure that your wallet will connect with those apps? How different is your wallet from a multi-currency wallet? As far as I can tell, there's no difference at all. Saying that others are lacking support or now is not going to sell your product, since yours is probably the same at the beginning. Not to mention people can easily use Metamask or something similar since most dapps nowadays support it.
895  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Countries where Bitcoin is “banned” on: September 01, 2023, 10:28:59 AM
#Indonesia - The use of cryptocurrencies as a form of payment has been banned since 2018.

How do you think bitcoin users deal with these situations?
How do they manage to get around these restrictions without getting caught?
Most Indonesians don't use Bitcoin for payment, at least for local or national transactions. I believe nothing really changed from then, and there's nothing urgent that makes them try to push the narrative that they should be able to pay with Bitcoin. That being said, I do know some people still use Bitcoin to pay internationally or use services like SIM top-ups or game currency payments. So far no one is really getting arrested for that, I doubt the government is going out of its way to stop people making $10 transactions per month with BTC either.
896  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Accessible Programs for Aspiring Crypto Influencers. on: September 01, 2023, 10:03:18 AM
I know quite a few good crypto enthusiasts that are yet to explore and help others but they're kind of limited because they aren't KOL or anything related. What if they're given the opportunity?
If I understand you right, those people have good content and narrative around them yet their followers are still not increasing. I believe it is just a matter of time then, since most influencer strongest advantage is their content. I do know content creators or influencer like Bitboy who are popular, but very controversial since he accepts ads left and right with so many controversial takes/action. I don't think that's what you should aim for. The first step is always make good content, post it, and then people will naturally discover you.
897  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mixers service right protections on: August 31, 2023, 11:56:38 AM
2- what more could be done to prevent history from repeating in the manner as with Chipmixer?
From the business perspective, they can do many things. For example, making sure that their servers are secure, data are never stored for too long, make sure there are no repeated inputs, etc. From the customer side, there's nothing as mentioned above. You can never be sure, even if they open-source their platform. If you are not comfortable with it maybe you should look for other options such as coinjoin.
898  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Accelerated U.S. Bitcoin ETF Adoption on: August 31, 2023, 11:44:26 AM
the Sec loses much money and cases from XRP, Binance and Coinbase and now Grayscale  Grin
What do you mean by losing money by the way? Do they need to pay money to argue their case in court? I never thought that was the case. Do you have any statistics on how much money they need to pay for each case?
899  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Machine Learning and Bitcoin on: August 31, 2023, 11:14:27 AM
Widen your imagination, AI can learn through patterns you know, which means that you can teach it to detect fraudulent or criminal activities by studying the transaction patterns of each wallets or something like that.
I'm pretty sure some services already do this, although it is unclear to what degree they use advanced machine learning or whatever it is called. It basically allows them to process it faster, which can be good for those companies, but the risk of false positives is probably never gonna go away. It would be terrible if there is no appeal process in place, which is what usually lacking in services like exchange. In short, the customer is probably not gonna notice any change unless the service they use is dedicated for them (like better newsfeed, etc).
900  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FBI stops Qakbot and seizes crypto in the process on: August 31, 2023, 10:50:32 AM
I think with cloud computing it put an end to most of this. Since companies just reloaded their previous backed up files instead of dealing with these scammers. Good that they were caught.
I'm still seeing a lot of ransomware news on news websites like Bleepingcomputer though. Not really surprising even if they use cloud computing or whatnot, since some of them still rely on insecure methods like SIM authentication just like what. has been reported a few days ago. At the very least there is progress and people can expect they will get jailed sooner or later, although relying on government agencies to stop them is not the best choice.
