881  Economy / Gambling / Re: Is this considered a safe practice on: May 16, 2023, 06:40:10 PM
It's important to understand why they are willing to give you a bonus. Nothing is ever for free and nobody will give you money just like that.
There's this good old saying: if you don't know what the product is, you are the product.

So, the important part is, how much are you willing to risk and sell for the bonus. Do you have a lot of money on the account associated with the card? Do you often use it? How important is the bonus for yo? For me it's completely unimportant because I have money and I don't use a credit card at all, so for me to sell my data anywhere, they'd have to pay me a lot of money. If you can get $200 and you consider that to be a lot of money, by all means, go for it.
882  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Stake.com not paying out my money on: May 15, 2023, 02:33:18 PM
Welcome to the OP forum.
I see you joined the forum a few days ago and here you made a complaint against the gambling site Stake.com.
Don't you find out and read there are so many positive reviews on Stake.com.
Here on the bitcointalk forum Stake.com is one of the biggest casinos that is trusted and has a good enough reputation that their community cannot be doubted anymore because it is so big.
If indeed you lost hundreds of thousands of dollars please provide clear evidence here or are you just boasting just spouting nonsense?
At least if you provide clear evidence then we can see whether it is true and real or not.

In short, what you're trying to say is, OP shouldn't complain because he's a new forum member and Stake has been here for a long time. Cheesy
Also, as far as I know there's no "OP forum".

Why don't we ask for proof first, instead of trying to belittle and discourage posters?

Did you actually read OP's story?
He lost money and now wants to get refunded because he lives in Australia where he should not have been allowed to have played from.

He basically wants to freeroll stake. Quite shameless I would say.

Why don't you check the timing of the post that I've quoted? It was written 20 minutes after the first post by OP, which did not say anything about losing money, and already tried to discourage by saying how reputable casino he's talking about and how insignificant his account is. This is not what this board was made for.
883  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Stake.com not paying out my money on: May 15, 2023, 01:28:35 PM
You don't follow the format OP.
It's important to state how much it is that they aren't allowing you to withdraw. You said that you've deposited hundreds of thousands of dollars, but it doesn't mean anything. What dollars? US or Australian? How much did you lose? What's the current account balance?

884  Economy / Services / Re: [Price-check] price of signature space of an average hero rank poster on: May 15, 2023, 12:20:12 PM
It is subjective anyways and the quality of the account also affects the price.
  • An average Hero Member should earn anything from $70 and above per week.
  • A good Hero Member should earn upto $100 per week
  • An exceptional Hero Member should earn $100 and above

Oh really?
So, according to you, hero member that earns less than $70 from a signature campaign is not good, or exceptional.
I know what you were trying to say here, but the wording could've been better.

OP, get what you are offered and be happy that you're getting it, as this is an additional reward that you're given for being here. A reward 99% of Internet forums doesn't provide at all and probably 50% of posters here don't qualify to receive. Don't fish for additional $10 like many people do when they join a campaign and after a week or two get accepted somewhere else, where they can get the same payment for 5 posts less, so they move. I find such behavior to be rude and pitiful.
885  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: sending bank statement for verification on: May 14, 2023, 06:00:03 PM
You don't need to send a personal information to them maybe you can send only the proof that you deposited to that casino. You need to hide all your personal information as this day's many are getting scam because they send personal information. Please be careful about what you are doing.
The one who's has the biggest power is the casino, not the gambler.

If the casino ask you to give your bank statement, but you said you can't and only able to send proof of deposit, they will not listen your opinion because their decision are final. If you can't send it, then the casino don't have any problem, they can confiscate your funds and they're profit from it.

It's not that simple. A casino should find a common ground with the client. It's not like they can demand a single thing and if that's not provided take your funds.

For instance, if they demand a proof of residence in the form of utility bill and you cannot give them that because you don't pay the bills in that building, it doesn't give them the right to take your money.
It's possible that a client of a crypto casino doesn't have a bank account.

887  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Whitepaper seen in the street of Edinburgh, Scotland on: May 14, 2023, 05:33:37 PM
~snip
I am a supporter of supporting any initiatives, even if it is not implemented in the best way, and I think that this is better than doing nothing at all and being passive. Often I can grumble and criticize from the perspective of how it would be better done from my point of view. In the case of the poster, I foresee that no one will read the whitepaper in the street. This is not the right place at all, because you will need to strain your attention and concentration to delve into the technical details. Whitepaper is not pulp fiction to be read on a busy street with distracting sounds and surroundings. The next moment is a longread. No one wants to read such long texts on the street, especially in the age of youtube, clips and so on. Information about the whitepaper should be presented to the audience in modern ways. The ones they are willing to accept. For example, videos, games or quests. It was possible to divide the wall of text into separate pages and place it in one location with some distance. This would make it possible to receive information in smaller portions that don't cause rejection and repulsion. If a person is interested, he will go to the next banner, where he can continue his reading and familiarization with bitcoin. It is possible to draw attention to whitepaper on the street, but the text of the whitepaper itself is better to read in a different setting. To do this, it was possible to add a qr-code with a link on the poster.

Ultimately, this poster is still good than bad.

We already live in the digital age and online. Offline methods already work worse.

Maybe not adding any links and qr codes was a good idea. Many people will look at such posters as if they were ads and adding links or codes could make these people believe they're being targeted or redirected. They might thing that somebody is pushing bitcoin into their pocket, the way street vendors sell you perfume or roses.

The way this is presented is fine as it can attract people, make them curious to know more, but also isn't too aggressive. I prefer this way of rising awareness than celebrities telling me that I should use this or that or apps and push messages finding their way into my phone without my consent.
888  Economy / Speculation / Re: Btc price preeiction on: May 13, 2023, 06:18:22 PM
^
I stopped with price apps, they were such a waste of time. Let's say you're a short-term investor, who uses price apps, but you self-custody your bitcoin, like you should. Most likely you won't have your wallet on your phone, and even if you do, it's going to take some time before you're able to send it to an exchange and cost you some money. Every time the app shows you a <5% move you'll have to make a decision. Is it worth for me to react to this? I'll have to pay the transfer fee, I'll have to pay the exchange fee and it's going to take a few hours before I can dump it.
All the app is going to do is put you on edge, distract you, when you can't really do anything about it. It's like reading news about a child that died somewhere in another city.
889  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN]⚡whirlwind.money | Anonymity Mining Campaign | 12% APR | Daily Rewards⚡ on: May 13, 2023, 05:45:45 PM
I'm not quite sure if this will be profitable in the long run. I haven't heard of any mixer that has managed to run for that long.
Not yet? I thought the previous mixers had been around for a long time, for example Chipmixer, they had a very long time. It must have been more than 5 years, right? Furthermore, I think we don't have any problem in withdrawing, they don't talk about our withdrawal limit time.

It was 6 years. Still would not be long enough to break even though (assuming you start today).

I don't think that the fact Chipmixer run for 6 years matters, because according to the site:

Quote
It's important to emphasize that the rewards will be paid out from our personal reserve and only for a limited amount of time until the Anonymity set passes the 10,000 deposits threshold, at which point incentives won't be needed anymore.

Does this mean that over 10k deposits, there will be no more campaign payments? What will be the incentive for people to keep depositing, when the number starts getting close to 10k?

I'd be willing to deposit, but there's this thing in the back of my head saying: "What if they have access to these generated private keys? It wouldn't be the first time when the mixing operator lied about something. If whirlwind gets busted somehow, the way they got Tornado, Helix, Chipmixer, will they be able to get my bitcoin?"
890  Economy / Speculation / Re: High tx fee has historically marked the sell-off. Is this time different?? on: May 12, 2023, 02:33:24 PM
Ok, I'm looking at similarities on your chart and here's what I see:
We're at the tx cost levels from January 21. The cost rose, but the price rose with it. As you can see, fees went 2x from here in 2021 and the price per bitcoin did the same (30k-60k).
Since you're concluding that after high fees there was always a dump, I feel like it's the bearish mood that's affecting your judgement.

Do you think that if we ever go to 100k the fees will remain at current levels? More likely they will be at the 2021 high, if not higher. Without second layer solutions, when people see th BTC they used to buy in 2022 is 5 times more expensive, they'll be willing to pay at least twice the current fee to move it. High fees are probably here to stay and what ordinals did is just a taste of what's coming in the next bull market. We got high fees now, but we'd get them anyway in 2024.

Budget: set it BEFORE you start gambling and stick to it.
Have a break from time to time, it is important to let your brain stop and consider.

1.I don't really think that setting a budget would stop a gambler to become addicted. Having big wins at the beginning is what makes a gambler get addicted. This has nothing to do with setting a budget and sticking to that budget.
2.The gambling addicts could also take a break from gambling, but that doesn't help them to fight their addiction and re-evaluate their wrong decisions. Most gambling addicts have a lack of self-awareness and simply taking a break won't help in becoming more self-aware.
At the end of the day, there's no "red pill" that would keep the gamblers away from addiction. Everything is about mentality and being aware of your own behavior.

I've seen people run out to a pawn shop to sell their watch just to get money for another round because they reached daily limits on their ATM withdrawals. Setting a budget helps only until you get addicted so much that you completely lose control.
All the advice by OP is great and works, but only until you reach a point where you can no longer limit yourself. For instance, a normal gambler casually sits at the table and walks away after an hour or two, can leave the table after a win or a loss and feels fine regardless of the result. A light addict can't stop as long as he has money. When he loses everything is when the fun ends and he keeps thinking about ways to make the money back all the time. A hard addict doesn't leave the casino, he's taken out because he's drunk, out of money, or arguing and starting fights.
892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the fate of BTC payment now on: May 12, 2023, 02:09:27 PM
For the first time since 2022 I have officially put an end to Bitcoin payments on my business until further notice

That's not a long period of time, since you could've started accepting it in December, so it's like you saying:
Listen up everyone, there's something wrong with a currency that's worked for the last 13 years because i had to stop accepting after 6 months.
I feel for you, so sad Sad

Ordinals looks like it's here to stay, I don't believe that Ordinals is like ICO because they are different. And Ordinals came in a bear market, imagine what this will do to Bitcoin in a bull market.

And I believe bitcoin bitcoin doesn't care about ordinals, just as it did not care about hash wars, Faketoshi, Chinese bans, and people like you saying it's over. One of us has to be wrong, I wonder who it is.

Is there any business owners accepting Bitcoin still? How are you doing it? Is there any way to go around this? I will appreciate, because I don't want to stop accepting Bitcoin, I have my long term plan and accepting Bitcoin as payment have helped so far.

Try LN. It's cheaper and faster.
893  Economy / Speculation / Re: The price of bitcoin is not rising soon!. on: May 11, 2023, 07:30:37 PM
Out of  100% of international market chats bitcoin is beneath the range price counts of crude oil, gas, gold and diamond, that's means bitcoin is far from rising soon.
What do you think?

Bitcoin is up 30% from its lows, so tell me again how t is not rising. I feel like you are watching the charts, but have them set to 5m and see only the last couple weeks.

Let me ask you 2 questions:
1. What are you looking at when comparing commodities and bitcoin? Gold had its lows in November, pretty much like bitcoin, then rose in January, but went through a correction in February and kept rising in March-May. It's the same exact situation as bitcoin! Gold is now higher than it was in February and so is bitcoin. Don't expect it to go hand in hand all the time. Bitcoin can correct 5% while gold corrects 2% but it's still in an uptrend. Both of them are.

2. Are you worried by bitcoin correcting 10%? If you are then you've invested too much. I hold a decent amount of BTC and I'm not scared at all.
894  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another betting fraud in Brazil - part 2 on: May 11, 2023, 07:13:43 PM
When players or teams are weaker ones or they don't recognize any ethics - they prefer this route. They fix match results. They sometimes determine outcome of many things like scoring 2 goals at the start of game etc. I feel very sad about Brazilian football watchers and fans. When there are huge allegations about this kind of match fixing scandal, I directly lose my energy, motivation. It makes you feel like watching football is nothing important.

And I tend to ignore it. Life is hard and it's going to keep kicking your butt. You either succumb to this and get shitty days every now and then, or you develop a rock solid butt and go on with your life.
I'm having a blast, even when I'm losing money and a stupid betting fraud in a country far away is not going to make it any worse for me.

I'm not even surprised. I know people who were involved in something similar in low league football in my home town and they were making pennies on this, each of the players were getting something like $100 per fixed match and they still found it worth the risk.
895  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: sending bank statement for verification on: May 11, 2023, 07:01:53 PM
[...]
my question is, is it safe to share bank account statement for verification purposes?  the site is reputable, but in bank statement all my information are available. is it safe to share?
The casino don't need all the information so you can probably hide the important parts like account name or number and even balance. Since you are disputing that you haven't receive the refund then it's only natural to show proof that it didn't arrive. There's no better way to do that than your bank statement.

Choose a better way next time. If you're worried about revealing personal data then you could choose sending from a non-custodial crypto wallet and using it for your withdrawals and refunds.

In that case, what is the important part? Sure he can redact his address and all that, but how far can he go with this? For instance he should redact the names of people he transacts with. Let's say he has an employer, why should a casino know who sends his paychecks every month? Let's say he sends money to his family, why should the casino know the names of his relatives?
To be "safe" he should redact everything apart from his name, account number and transaction values.
896  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you prefer Original Slots or slots from 3rd party Slot providers? on: May 10, 2023, 06:38:16 PM
It's good to play both slots categories to try new games and what the house has to offer originally, but in my opinion the most popular ones are from the third party providers, without any doubts, because those games are more sophisticated and aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. It's not a secret titles like Gates of Olympus and Sweet Bonanza are very popular on the internet when we talk about slots-machines.

Original games tend to be more popular among dice, crash and mines fans.

That's what I like. Both types is the way to go for most people because players often switch from one game to another when they feel like they're not doing so good or that they won so much that they won't push it on the same game and rather switch. I know it doesn't make sense mathematically but we often go with our gut here.
At times I feel like playing interactive games with good music, sounds, changing themes, and another day I just want something plain, simple, and boring.

899  Other / Politics & Society / Re: South Africa tells Putin -"If you come, you will be arrested" on: May 09, 2023, 08:38:01 PM
For me it looks like South Africa is trying to sit on two chairs on the same time. They don't want to ruin their relationship with West too much, but at the same time they don't really want to arrest Putin. So, they now simply ask him not to come to South Africa.

This is similar to what Germany was doing early in the war, and let's not forget about Hungary and Turkey.

Quote
For me it's difficult to believe that it would be Ukrainian drone. Especially when not so long time ago we saw news from Russia that they covering Moscow with more air defense systems around the city and even putting it on roof of buildings.
Maybe it's worth to turn on 9th May pared from Moscow tomorrow, maybe something will happen there Cheesy.

The news today is Russians escaped from Bachmut, after losing about 500 soldiers.

Quote
There was messages from Russian propaganda and politicians that if someone will arrest Putin, they will nuke that country. So, let's say South Africa arrest Putin. Does it mean that Russia will nuke South Africa together with arrested Putin. Interesting logic.

Russian logic. The same that made them form up in long columns again and again after losing multiple vehicles due to this. The same logic that made their soldiers dig trenches in Chernobyl, same logic that made them send Spetsnaz units to attack Ukrainian trenches head on, and we could go on and on.

Yabut, Medvedev would be in power, and he is smart enough and mean enough to destroy SA with nukes just to make an example of them. And Putin would agree to it if he were given the chance.

Cool

Maybe Putin wants to become a martyr Cheesy

investors are screwed.

Are they really? I don't feel screwed, but I don't have to send BTC on a daily basis. If I had to pay my employees in BTC, I'd feel a bit screwed.

Let's say we had no ordinals and there were people willing to send a couple satoshis and pay a higher fee than the value of transaction, wouldn't that put us in the same situation? Bitcoin's fee was made for this and there's no real solution, unless we ban ordinals, but then we'll be deciding what is and what isn't allowed.
