I must say, I am quite enjoying the way you erase this thread and keep starting again. But I also kinda understand. Questions are hard

882  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 07, 2015, 10:33:05 PM
Here is a problem that applies to BTC securities that aren't plain old scams/ponzis right from the beginning. Like ASICminer, they might have good intentions, and skills to make things happen, but at the end of the day, they are not business people. They are computer nerds. Asperger's riddled toads. They barely can maintain basic social skills, let alone any sort of complicated business relationships. Frustrated with your situation? Great, just rob the company account and go to Thailand. Shareholders can go fry an egg!

The more I see this stuff, the more I start to believe it is just a tiny part of a big problem. Who is really making money from BTC? The earliest adopters, the devs, and all the crooks and scammers, hackers and thieves. everyone else gets burnt. Makes me think that is the reason BTC exists. Make a crypto and hype the shit out of it, manipulate the markets and falsely inflate the value. Also create this crypto so that it is very easy to steal, and also easy to launder. Banks are too hard to rob, so create a mirage currency, sell it to conspiracy theorists, libertarians, anarchists. Rob them of their coins however possible (hacks, scams, "securities" designed to go nowhere) Its been an open secret that the BTC foundation is a farce for ages, now everyone sees they really are a pointless entity, not to mention bankrupt.

Satoshi Nakamoto isn't one guy. It's a cabal of darknet bandits. And they are laughing...
883  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Zero Hedge reports High Frequency Trading coming to BTC... on: April 07, 2015, 05:16:47 AM
yes, if a doofus like Karepeles can set up some bots to manipulate the price, these big players will be able to do whatever they like. don't think they don't already, where ever they spot an opportunity. At least we might see another bubble ATH soon. that would be nice.
884  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 07, 2015, 02:35:03 AM
hopefully there are bag holders in china to raise a stink. it burns me to know these asicminer guys just walk away without repercussions. there's not much we can do from here is there?
885  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dark Web Doc film. Great to watch! on: April 05, 2015, 09:10:19 AM
yeah, pretty good film for the beginner, touches a few important points. I would have liked to see it go a bit deeper, and not necessarily towards the nasty stuff either. For example, many universities have reams of files containing published papers and archives etc. that are copyrighted and not for general public consumption, yet they are accessible on the deep web. You just have to know what you are looking for and how to find it because none of it is indexed on search engines.

Also, the military invented TOR, doesn't that suggest to you that they could crack it too? say, force one of the three layers of encryption to be their own, monitored server every time? i don't actually understand how encryption works well enough to say, but, if it can be built, it can be un-built, no?
886  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: High Fidelity successor to Second life virtual world considering bitcoins! on: April 05, 2015, 08:01:52 AM

887  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: High Fidelity successor to Second life virtual world considering bitcoins! on: April 05, 2015, 06:57:14 AM
errrr, I beg to differ. I participated heavily in SL at first, was part of an SL art collective that was displayed in RL at various art galleries internationally. I built stuff and played a lot and created mirth and fun for any and all who managed to come onto SL with a SENSE OF HUMOR. Sad thing is, in the world where "the only limit is your imagination" I was confronted again and again by people like you (I'm assuming) who merely wished to create an online simulation of the real world with its heavily enforced moral codes and myopic views. I was always careful to approach these people politely and respectfully at first, and true to millennial fashion, they were rude and ignorant. I didn't fit into their narrow idea of propriety, often the first thing they would say is "you're ugly!" I kept altering my AV's appearance to look as far from the barbi/ken esthetic as possible, and you wouldn't believe how offended people are by this. Disneyfied babies. So....BOOM... I trololololo'd.

I must say, those that did actually "get" it, became fast friends and i sometimes wonder where they are at these days, sadly when I log onto SL it looks like the suburbs where Walter White lives. Reeeeeaaaaallllllll exciting.

here's an article that includes some of my interactions with the art collective http://wirxliflimflam.blogspot.ca/search/label/gog%20mannonen

what have you done on second life? played goth dress-up at a casino/dance club?
888  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: High Fidelity successor to Second life virtual world considering bitcoins! on: April 05, 2015, 02:25:53 AM
The Linden exchange for buying & selling SL in-world money "Lindens" turned into one of the earliest BTC exchanges. you could trade your lindens for btc and litecoin and other cryptos, no fiat to crypto though. I believe it still exists, cant remember the name...

Anyway, yeah, SL fizzled pretty quick, its mostly a desolate uninhabited wasteland these days. I played for a few months, but my primary goal was to troll the hell out of anyone who had the great misfortune to encounter my AV. lol. good times.

ahhh, here she is now... nice goggy

Bad Lieutenants - Port of Silicon Valley

I think we all knew all along that the DEA and its agents have been helping themselves to copious amounts of money and drugs since day one. Nixon invented the DEA specifically to target and oppress blacks, its on tape! Even the origins of the administration is crooked. Fast foreward to Ollie North and the whole contra scheme. Those suckers are so bent they need two guys to help them screw their pants on in the morning (paraphrase; H.S. Thompson)

You can imagine how much loot went into the pockets of DEA agents over the years before BTC, now the blockchain makes it irrefutable and there for all to see!

sad thing is, these officers will merely get a slap on the wrist, and Ross will still languish in jail.

Truth, Justice, and The American Way... One out of 3 equals FAIL!
890  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is still in the year 2013. How do we get past it? on: April 05, 2015, 12:55:27 AM
Don't get me wrong, I love BTC, but....

I think the biggest flaw in the whole design and concept of BTC and the blockchain is; they didn't fully consider the "human element"

security (not getting hacked, ripped off, and scammed) will develop. I believe it could be the greatest growth area in the sphere, and if improved upon, will make BTC much more palatable, but it still doesn't fully address the "human element"

Beautiful algorithms and glittering technology are one thing, but most people don't care. They just want something that works, and will only switch up to a better version when the old has grown obsolete and the new brings noticeable improvements.

generally, people distrust new things. When the new thing is shown to have weak spots, these are exaggerated and constantly mocked/pointed out.

BTC has suffered so many scandals and scams that there is much more bad press than good, and this alone will stifle new adoption.

BTC could very well flounder to the point of death because people have this image that it is full of pitfalls.

If BTC can survive the next 5 years, for sure this human fear will evaporate.

Consider mobile phones. They have been commercially available since the 80s. Except no one used them. They were ridiculed. Cumbersome, overpriced, very limited usability.

Now the phone in your pocket contains more technology than went to the moon in the 60s, everyone has one, and they are easy to get and use. Think about it, how could you survive without one in today's world?

Too many people try and make an analogy between BTC and early days of internet.

Mobile phones are a much better comparison.

Hold fast brethren, we have ~5 more years of gloomy seas on good ship BTC.

however, patience will be rewarded.

892  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK](SFI) Seedcoin Fund I on: April 05, 2015, 12:29:33 AM
It will be good to see the new website and upcoming developments.
Sorry about my previous cynical remarks, I have lost a LOT of BTC in various poorly run, or just plain fraudulent BTC securities over the last year and I am still stinging a little. From the looks of seedcoin all is being handled professionally and looks to do well, longer term. Maybe this will be "the one" and I might see some of my losses recouped.

Good Luck and Godspeed!
893  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Quality writer or University English grad/student needed (must enjoy marijuana) on: April 04, 2015, 11:24:53 PM
Your plan is interesting, and the emerging marijuana sector is a good fit for crypto, but I am a little unclear as to certain parts of the plan... namely, I don't see the purpose of introducing the alt pot-coin (marijuana-coin?) into the equation. It seems extraneous to me, BTC itself would be sufficient, and logically, by filtering your transactions through your private alt-coin, it appears that it is a move to pump the price of yet another alt. Also, it takes too much trust away from the end user and requires them to grant this trust to you. In a perfect world, this would be no problem, but we don't live in a perfect world. If disaster should befall your business (godess forbid) participants would be left holding private pot-coins that could very well crash in value overnight.

I like how you guys are thinking, its a neat idea, and I would like to see it work out. I'm in Victoria BC and we are having a miniature version of the marijuana boom you are having in Van-groovy, so this could really work if done impeccably, so, please, correct me if I have the system you propose incorrect, meaning... why add the extra alt-coin into the mix?

I am actually interested in this, I will PM you.  Smiley
894  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Prisma 2.0 on: April 04, 2015, 11:07:20 PM
until AM comes forward with some sort of tangible plan of action, and some transparency as to what exactly has been going on for the last year, they are officially "persona non grata"

even if they do come clean with past and present financials, some clarity as to what happened and why, and some sort of strategy for future dealings, they have still lost so much trust that I doubt they can recover. I have already kissed my holdings in AM goodbye. Only a miracle could save them now and I'm agnostic to say the least.
895  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2015-04-03 benzinga - Cryptocurrency Trading Leader is Buying Bitcoin on: April 04, 2015, 11:01:08 PM
yup, sounded too good to be true, that's for sure.

interesting use of hype to manipulate speculators. I'll give him that much.

I think with the last 12+ months of disappointing market action many people are anxious for movement.

be patient my pretties, we aint going to see anything of note for another few years. Patience...
896  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [2015-04-03] The 5,000Btc hidden treasure, and the key to finding it. on: April 04, 2015, 10:52:55 PM
this really is just a cotillion between the 10 owners of the 10 wooden bitcoins though, isn't it?
I mean; if you own a wooden btc, collect the other 9 owners, put the puzzle together, split the 5000btc 10 ways= 500btc each!
or, of course... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Treasure_of_the_Sierra_Madre
a great book if you haven't read it btw, infinitely better than the movie!

but if movies are your thing...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2UEg8dl6ZI
the only copy i could find is dubbed in russian, but its a pretty funny oldie about a treasure hunt and the greed that destroys its participants
lol

anyway, I cant see any of the 10 owners sharing any of their info with anyone except the 10

great idea anyway, i just hope the ten are careful, lotta scammers and crooks in btc-land. 5000btc could attract some seriously crooked crooks KWIM?

I tried the "withdraw" button to get the 2700 satoshis i had earned. it said "coming soon"  Embarrassed
whats the deal with that?
the referral program is structured like a pyramid scheme too, i dont see how it could be sustainable. i haven't paid anything, just my time...is the whole thing just a scam to grow users?
899  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investor from the Fiat-area is looking for bitcoin investment tips on: April 04, 2015, 06:12:10 AM
if you visit the "securities" section of this forum you will find every single one offered has caused its investors losses. the ones that haven't tanked are well on their way. its basically penny stocks in the 80s over there, avoid at all costs.

I would buy BTC and a hardware wallet. wait 5 years. that is all.

100k is not enough to get in on the promising btc businesses.

you could try leveraged trading with some of your btc, and if you are from finance you will know how to do it, but your safest bet is to hold btc.
900  Economy / Securities / Re: Anything sustainable worth of investing? on: April 02, 2015, 10:30:28 PM
the problem is, even if you run an honest business
disaster can happen
and there is no guarantee that the investor will be protected.

what if a tornado wiped out RS's properties?

sorry to paint a gloomy picture
but everything in this sub has disappointed so far
and i'm nothing but cynical now

if you invest here
in any offering
no matter what
expect to lose
