contents ignored
I don't think you should publish a post which contains link to image (that image is not needed) to make your OP likely oversized and un-comfortable with some users (like Jet Cash, who hate oversized, capitalized, highlighted, poor-formated threads).
I nearly gave some to a newbie, but his post was capitalised, and I hate that, so I passed over his post.
~
I've now got a lot of people on ignore for merit begging and trading, using oversized text and the misuse of graphics, so maybe I shouldn't go looking for posts to award with merit. Smiley I've had to adopt a fairly strict policy on post format because it was taking far too long for me to read threads.

You should not worry too much about those merit abusers (most of them come from account farmers, then due to massive impacts of one-month-old merit system they changed to merit farmers) will be banned all (all accounts in found merit farmers will be banned).

Moderator (namely hilariousetc) of the forum found some merit farmers and banned all of them (over 200 accounts in one merit farmer). There is link to this topic, created by hilariousetc

8862  Other / Meta / Re: The Merit System - Why it is fundamentally flawed on: March 01, 2018, 09:21:39 AM
Exactly! The forum users has been and will be divided into two categories. One higher-category includes contributive users, whom usually/ always write constructive, high quality threads to contribute to the forum with meaningful discussion. The other one, called lower-category includes the rest of users, whom usually spam the forum with tons of shitty, non-sense (one word, one line, etc) posts. Their posts covered high quality posts, consequently they need to be burried with merit system if they won't change.
It is dividing this forum into different groups.

Due to the reasons I stated above, merit system is, has been and will be a good system to control spammers, keep them in lower ranks in the forum (most of spammers might be stucked forever).
The main premise of the Merit system may be good.

Wrong! Newcomers don't have chance to compete with those ones, not only because merits but also due to newcomers don't have as good skills, knowledge and experience as high rank users. Older users (good ones) will help newcomers (good ones); newcomers will rank up but most of them will never be able to compete with older users. That's the fact
Yes! Signature campaigns in bounties are up to date the majority allocation of a bounty campaign. So why should I increase the competition for stakes in a bounty campaign by upvoting new users?

No, actually not. There are lots of normal users (not merit sources) who are readily to give their sMerits away (by which receivers will get both Merits and sMerits).
But please note important point, those users only (remember only) send their sMerits away if they feel happy, satisfied with posts (constructive, creative, high quality ones) they read.
They will never give their sMerits away for spammers, for shitty posts, spam topics.
Furthermore the whole system creates a massive gatekeeper problem.

Merit system has both negative and positive effects. However, in general this one is good for the forum and make the forum better. It has massively shown great impacts on users, so it has almost met original and basic objectives of merit system.
It has positives and negatives. Sadly the biggest farmers are the ones that will find it easier to abuse whilst genuine users with just one account will struggle or at least take some time to achieve, though on the flip side it opens the farmers up to being spotted as many farmers won't be able to resist leaving themselves merit because it's so hard to get in naturally.

Conclusion, in merit system I believe and will support it.
8863  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Requirements too difficult to JR. Members on: March 01, 2018, 06:46:31 AM
who are readily to send you merits if they think your threads deserved.
You idiots just don't realize how shitty your English is.  That's the main reason you're not getting merit.

If a fluent speaker such as myself finds your posts to be meritless, what do you think the rest of the pajeets (if they even read your posts) are going to think?  They're giving all their merit points to alt accounts and friends anyway--which will earn those fuckers red trust, and it's much deserved.

Yeah. This is gonna work out just fine.
Simply give merit abusers red trust. I think they should be banned (temporary, then permanent). It's hard to imagine the cases of merit exchanging from main accounts to alt-accounts, then return exchanging from alt-accounts to main-accounts, again and again.
For example:
Main account have 100 sMerits to send to one alt-account, then the alt get 50 sMerits to send back to main one, which will get more sMerits to send. Next round, main account send 50 sMerits to alt-acc, and so on like this:
Main account            Alt account
100                         0
100                         50
50                           25
25                           12
12                           6
6                             3
3                             1
And finally, over many rounds, main accounts will have 50+25+12+6+3 = 96 more Merit points
Alt-account will have 50+25+12+6+3+1 = 97 more Merits points.

In total the guy will get 193 more Merits points. It's terrible abusement.

I think those ones try abusing merit system should be banned.
8864  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VSX] Darksend - POS 3.0 - Obfuscation - Masternodes - InstantTX [VSYNC] on: February 28, 2018, 07:17:06 AM

What you mean is Pow will be ended soon and PoS going to implement successively? Seems the good news for miners, not all everyone.
It's good for all, miners (can sell their coins at high price), Masternode holders (higher rewards for masternodes after PoW ended), stakers (they can stake), and developers (get money mainly due to budget fund will be activated).
As you can see in the OP of Vsync project's announcement, 90% of block rewards will be allocated to Stakers/MN at all PoS phase, the rest 10% will be allocated to Vsync project budget system. It is good proportional rewards for MN's owners. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2133048.0)

At the moment, I am not sure (and maybe devs of Vsync not sure) which exact proportions for both MN and Stakers, but 90% for both of them is good generally.
Furthermore, since the 8th phase of PoS, block rewards will be decreased to 19 VSX, then next two phases are 11 and 3 VSX, respectively. That means around two more years from now, Vsync will reach to almost zero inflation due to PoS block rewards. You can calculate the amount of time needed to reach 8th phase based on information in the OP (Blocktime, current number of block, and starting block of 8th PoS phase).

Hope it helps to solve your question.
8865  Other / Meta / Re: Newbies are struggling to level up their account on: February 28, 2018, 05:49:40 AM
Newbies, newcomers should gradually and naturally rank up their positions over time. It's better for them. They should learn, experience first. No need to rank up too fastly in the forum.

I also give you link to my another post discussed about which components forms good topics that can get merits:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3032472.msg31232565#msg31232565
Please visit there for reading more ideas of other users on the topics (not only mine)

If you only want to read my ideas, there you go:
Topic titles should be written with good English, both vocabs and grammar, linking words, clear topic sentences.
Nevertheless, the fact is only topic title is not enough to get merits, because it is not enough to make quality, constructive, useful topic. The general quality of each topic depends on its internal contents by several following components:

1. Does the topic has relevant questions? (that means is the topic neccessary to start a new topic, is it not been answered wherever before)
2. Was the topic written in well-formated style? (don't use capitalizations, hightlights, underlined, oversized-images when not needed)
3. Was the topic written with proficient English (with little inapproriate vocabulary usages and grammar errors)?

Might be more important components, I am not sure; but in my view, those three are the most important ones which can help topics to get merits.
Topics are larger than threads/ posts, but they have common components to make good ones.
8866  Other / Meta / Re: Is the bitcointalk merit system democratic? on: February 28, 2018, 05:40:10 AM
No need to make a long thread about this one. Briefly, merit system is democratic, fair for constructive users; not for spammers, cheaters, account farmers, merit beggers, and merit farmers.

If you are spammers, cheaters, there is no way that merit system acts fairly with your account. If you put your time, your efforts to build up your ideas (mostly should be good ones) and write your threads as good as possible (in your ability) with good vocabularies, good grammar, and good linking words to shows your main points clearly; the more probability your account will earn merit scores. I have no doubt about fair distribution, allocation and give-away mechanism of merit system.
8867  Other / Meta / Re: Merit system is not working, failed! on: February 28, 2018, 05:35:34 AM
I propose to disable signatures for Jr. Members or implement Merit system for Jr. ranks (5 Merits for example).

5 merits for ranking up to Junior member is easy requirement, so I think your idea doesn't make sense.

There are two ways to get merits.
One legal way is getting them from writing constructive, high quality posts/ topics, try to help as many other users (mostly newcomers) as possible. This is legal approach, and with this one I really think that 5 merits is possible task (might be reached easily with real constructive users).
Second illegal approach is buying merits from others or exchanging them with friends, etc. In the approach 5 merits mean nothing, and need seconds to get them.

As a result of those two reasons, I think that Theymos should ban ability to wear signature for Junior Members.
8868  Other / Meta / Re: Post count dropped by almost 40 in the last hour or so on: February 28, 2018, 05:29:53 AM
I recently noticed on my main account that the post count dropped by five every couple minutes, until it reached a number somewhere around 40 lower than it was before the post count began to drop. I received nothing regarding deleted posts or anything of the sort in my email for the account, and I checked in all the forums I usually post in (all English), and there was no sign of posts being moved. Any guesses as to why this is happening? It's stopped since then but I'm just curious why.
Maybe due to spamming non-sense threads. Next step waiting for your main account is temporary ban, then next one is permanent ban. Take care yourself.

Your account is likely violates following rules of the bitcointalk forum:
1. No zero or low value, pointless or uninteresting posts or threads. [1][e]
And
33. Posting plagiarized content is not allowed.[e]

Full rules are available there:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0
Check it if you interested and want to avoid unexpected upcoming bans for your new-account.
8869  Other / Meta / Re: Drawbacks of Merit System on: February 28, 2018, 05:23:14 AM
The fact is merit system is not a perfect one, but at least Theymos did something as his effort to stop/ reduce the spamming endemic in the forum. It is actually better than keep silently and doing nothing; and the forum is better than before last month (January) when merit system activated.
Nothing perfect in the world (human, technology, platform, system, etc.), so we should not expect perfectly merit system.

Cheating is human nature, but I strongly believe that merit system has made most of spammers, cheaters, account farmers disappointed, and some of them gave up. It's the good side of merit system; we should focus to the effect.
8870  Other / Meta / Re: titles affect the merit on: February 28, 2018, 05:16:34 AM
Writing in English can help you to be awarded merit as well.

8871  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which Cryptocurrency is best To mine on Laptop on: February 28, 2018, 05:13:52 AM
You can, but laptop-mineable coins are extremely scarce. Two important factors which I recommend you to avoid using your laptop for mining are:
1. Mining will reduce your laptop life-cycle; at worst might destroyed your laptop hardwares.
Because laptops usually have worse designs for heat-ventilations (limited space, less number of fans, fans are smaller than desktop computers, etc.). As my own experience, desktop computers have long life-span than laptops, even for daily simple tasks (not for mining).

2. It's definitely not profitable to use laptop for mining.
With same amount of money, you can buy better desktop computers or rigs (in terms of hardware infracstructures) than laptops. This fact means you can have more powerful hardwares than laptops with same capital investment. So why not ask yourself a simple question "Why I won't invest my money directly for buying a rig or some graphic cards to mine cryptocurrenices? Will it be better than using laptop?" I guess questions for both those two are "YES", definitely yes.

To sum up, you should not use laptop for mining cryptocurrencies.
8872  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can i join two or more campaigns? on: February 28, 2018, 05:09:02 AM
You can join multiple bounty campaigns(translation, twitter, etc) but you can only join one signature campaign as the signature space is very limited to a few lines. Though you can join a signature campaign and at the same time join a campaign that only requires you to put up their avatar picture.
Thank you Sir for info on avatar campaign. I will search and read about it's basic requirements.
I have also made a search and known that only Full Member and higher ranks can wear avatars, which help accounts appear more impressive. Due to the fact, their effects for signature campaigns will be higher than lower ranks (Junior member, Member) and this one deserved to put more efforts to get more merits and rank up to Full Member.

I hope some days in this year, I can be a Full Member (I need 99 more merit points but I think it is possible if I keep contributing good posts in the forum).
Due to great effects of merit system, we will rarely see poor-quality Full Members anymore (just rarely, some merit beggars will be able to rank up).

By the way, thanks Theymos for the amazing system.

Avatars
Full Member and up only.
