Is the image still large for you? Can you show me a screenshot how it looks in your computer?  It looks great on my screen also on 1080p laptop. I want it to be a good size for all members.
It works well.
My previous recommendation is for general use of infographics.
Over using infographics and with over large size always result in annoying threads.

One more thing, when quoting threads with infographics, I tend to snip images/ infographics to save more space.
Personally, it think it the best option when quoting threads with infographics.

Finally, I found it (by chance again).
Statistics of user registrations on Bitcointalk 2017-2019 (by Alex_Sr)
I will add those data into official dataset of forum data dump by theymos, then graph a new time-series plot.
8324  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: List of promoted users and their shared stories on their ways to rank up on: January 22, 2019, 01:55:17 AM
Ah, I already known the topic, and this one:
Forum chronicle - UP Rank List (BPIP statistics, trust (by Nikisa)

My objectives are different than those twos:
What I really want to collect are stories of constructive guys, who already ranked-up with their self-made efforts, and great initiatives.
Only some of them shared their stories, and I tried collecting their available stories and post them here.
In real life, stories will make a difference. Some of them are boring stories, some of them are inspirational ones, like the speech of Steve Jobs at the Stanford university years ago.
Even boring stories, readers can find some interesting points/ lessons inside. That totally depends upon the viewpoints of each readers. Inspirational stories usually have magical impacts on human mood, attitude, can change the way they grow up/ rank up in the forum space.

Yesterday, ideas come out, then I created the topic immediately to avoid forgetting it.
I believe those two topics will help me to finish my objectives.
I will spend my time to screen all ranked-up cases to see how many guys shared their stories, and will fullfil the list later days.
Your list is 100% incomplete.

Look at this post, I think that guy made a complete list.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4850225.0

I don't really get your opinion.
So, what did you call my topic? Has it been a pseudo-constructive one?  Roll Eyes
Sometimes, people have to pay fees to listen to famous ones.
Those shared experience is totally free, simply enjoy it, and grasp specific helpful points for your interests.
Being somewhat active but not just because "you have to rank up/get the bounty" is a start.

I find other languages part of the forum more prone to discussion and less to spam so if you can try to post there too.

If you don't see the topic is helpful, meaningful, and inspirational for you. Simply skip it, or even add me into your Ignore list.
That's all.
From now on, I will turn the topic into a Self-moderated one. All un-constructive threads will be deleted.
Don't see the use of this post. You only pointed out three post one of your self and one of a fellow you earlier pointed out on your own personal story post.
You have ranked up that is great why not continue being positive rather than making merit fishing post
8325  Other / Beginners & Help / Inspirational stories from self-made promoted users on: January 21, 2019, 01:43:01 PM
The topic started specifically for new comers of the forum, and even for old ones who have still got stucked at lower ranks.

I think that from the stories, new comers and lower-ranked users can learn from those promoted guys and their shared stories.
Their approaches to learn knowledge in the forum;
Their ways to join discussions in constructive sides;
Their attitude and real activities to help others with their knowledge, experience, skills, and their time.

I hope that those stories in the below list will inspire readers.
I also hope that readers will be able to connect those stories by themselves and learn from them.

Your effort to make the infographic is really appreciated.
Infographics should be used carefully with resize and/ or width option in order to have relevant image inside threads.
Over-large images will make threads/ topics really hard to follow.
8327  Other / Meta / Re: Say thanks to merit system. Finally, I am a Full Member, next a self-made Senior on: January 21, 2019, 01:13:00 PM
I will consider about my objectives this year and will join your topic later.
I did a thread on setting of goals if you haven't uploaded yours there, be my guest.

Thank you. We have been on the same boat towards Senior Member rank.

Onces again congratulations we're the new generation of bitcointalkers 😂 Self-made full members next step Snr member.

The fact is I don't really think that Spambies have enough patience, knowledge, and skills to make quality threads.
Why?
Most of them joined the forum with their original purposes to earn easily free money. They simply have not cared about knowledge, and experience in the forum, in aspect of constructive sides.
Over time, they have been spambies in their mind, and maybe unable to make quality threads in any case.
Of course, they probably tried to make pseudo-qualitied threads, which do not make sense at all.
Certainly. However, I hear some of them went as far as buying "quality post" in order to get merits, and after that they'll resort back to spamming. It's impossible to stop, but in the long run I believe quality posters will definitely get what they deserve and cheaters won't be able to reach that point (unless they buy an account).

Sure, I will not give up and will keep up my current works.
Well done and keep at it

Big congrats on your new level of achievement is really not an easy fit especially moving from member to full member this would inspire me to push forward and strive for the best
Thank you.
I am non-native English speaker. Honestly, it is too hard to fully understand what you expressed.
I think you should improve your English, and compose better thread [both vocabulary, grammar, punctuation] or I have to improve my English, instead (if I am wrong).  Cheesy

Hello the SplitBird,

I have a small suggestion for you.
Your infographics is well designed, and better than some of older ones, but it looks too big, and takes lot of space.
I known that users can edit the size of it by using the width option, like this:
Code:
[img width=x][/img]
I still think that it might be better if you resize your original infographics a little bit smaller.

One more thing, the table like this is easier to compare requirements between ranks.
RankRequired activityRequired merit
Brand new00
Newbie10
Jr Member301
Member6010
Full Member120100
Sr. Member240250
Hero Member480500
LegendaryRandom in the range 775-10301000
You should edit your infographic with table. It might be better than the current version.
8330  Other / Meta / Re: Give Legendary members some competition on: January 21, 2019, 07:31:08 AM
1000Merit = Legendary
2000Merit = Diamond Legendary
3000merit = Silver Legendary
5000merit = Gold legendary

This ranks can be accompanied with some benefits or maybe just the bragging rights 😂
If your recommendations implemented, there are a complicated pyramid ranks and rewards/ previledges. Maybe I am wrong at this point.
Personally, I don't support your suggestion and still thought that the current ranking system is good.

Anyway, everyone should raise their ideas and potential initiatives to make the forum better.
8331  Other / Meta / Say thanks to merit system. Finally, I am a Full Member, next a self-made Senior on: January 21, 2019, 07:25:26 AM
I have almost forgotten about that.
During recent days, when I saw the topic of CryptopreneurBrainboss, namely Another win for the merit system. Thank you LoyceV, who got promoted to a Full Member rank. The topic reminds me that I was ranked up weeks ago.  Grin

I joined the forum last year, then got stucked at Junior Member when the merit system launched on 24th of January 2018.
After a very long journey, less than one year (we have come closer to the one year anniversary of merit system), eventually I was a Full Member since December.
At the day merit system launched, I felt something like 'Oh no, I will got stucked at Junior Member or Member for years'. Fortunately, I have made my initiatives with appropriate approaches to improve myself at first, then contributed to the forum. Consequently, months later (months, not days), merits come to me automatically.
In a word, everyone can rank up with merit system. It takes time, but it is possible and we all can rank up, except Spambies.

Looking at patrol, it is clearly that spamming endemic has still been there, but at least it has been reduced at somewhat extents.
In addition, Spambies (most of them) got stucked at their deserved lower-ranks.

My topics:
1) Time Series Analysis on Distributed Merits in the forum (daily, weekly, monthly)
2) Available courses on Bitcoin and Blockchain Technology from colleges and Universities
3) Time Series on monthly statistics of forum (new users, new topics, new posts)
4) Inspirational stories from self-made promoted users

My plan in the year 2019:
- Mastering skills to use data dumps from Piggy.
- Getting promoted to a Senior member.
- Opening a give-away sMerits topic for lower rank users someday when I ranked up to a Senior Member.

I thank to all sMerit senders. All your sMerits made me happy and known that I have been on the right direction.
8332  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: January 20, 2019, 01:33:53 PM
It might be better if you can scrap the total unused airdropped sMerits into two parts:
This isn't really possible: theymos airdropped 600k sMerit, but it's not published how many each account received, and Merit source amounts are more or less a secret.
I don't remember exactly but I read somewhere months ago that thanks disclosed that the rate of sMerits airdropped depends on both ranks and total active time within last one year before the launch of merit system.
Lots of users [heroes] complained about they got only 500 merits, then theymos decided to make additional airdropped merits to Heroes who have total active time above specific threshold.
8333  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: January 20, 2019, 01:14:15 PM

3) All the initially unspent airdropped sMerit could perhaps be used unwisely in the future. I mean, if after a year, the initial sMerit airdrop remains unspent or barely touched, it doesn’t really seem to be doing any good there, and could potentially be used for foul play at some point.
It might be better if you can scrap the total unused airdropped sMerits into two parts:
- the first part, for all active users.
- the second parts, for inactive users (more than one year). The part likely comes from hacked accounts, and might be used unwisely.
8334  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: January 20, 2019, 11:00:45 AM
Lots of users waited for the anniversary.
I guess that there are spambies who still hope they mostly will remove merit system.  Grin
We only have 4 days for the anniversary of merit system.

You likely forgot about one guy.
Who knows, but why you did not think that theymos will make it.
Weeks ago, theymos made a topic for 10 year anniversary of Bitcoin.

You can, certainly.
However, repeated same topics on the same issue will not make sense

It's true. However, the newest merit tide has not lead to outliers at all.
All intraday merits over the last two weeks have not been in the range of potentially extreme outliers, from 123 to 1163.
(1) Potential outliers are days that have intraday total merits beyond 123 or 1163;
There is only one day almost hit the threshold, at 1161, with id #351 in the dataset below.

sMerit distribution has risen a fair share over the past two weeks. Specifically, the last complete week (Monday to Sunday – 07/01/2019 .. 13/01/2019) shows a total of 5.859 awarded sMerits. That is 37,15% more than the previous week, and we need to go back to April 2018 to see such high figures (with the exception of the September week where the number of Merit Sources were incremented, and the 1 Merit requirement was added for Jr. Members).

It is just an assumption, no one knows but I agreed with the assumption.
Quote
This is likely due to three facts, although I do not venture which bears the most weight of them (I’d say "b" if I had to, seeing that the previous week rose likely for the same motive (*)):

  a)   End of xMas holidays.

  b)   Additional Merit Sources and, specially, Merit Source allowance resizing (that I believe resets the counter so for those resized it meant both a different allowance and a fresh start for the 30 day period to distribute them in) -> 05/01/2019.

  c)   DT struggles for representation (since earned merits allow for more voting power, perhaps merits were awarded to members to get their vote to count).

I don't know but I guess that the rate for grin is a fixed one, at
Code:
0.00675676 BTC via grin, send 2.252253333 grin
At the rate, theymos accepted higher rate than real-time price of Grin on exchanges at the moment.
No one knows where Grin will go next months.
Let's see.

Anyway, it is interesting to see that the forum eventually accpeted another payment gater, rather than only in bitcoin.

Update:

ABSTRACT
Notes:
- The asbstract describes figures of intraday merits over the period from 19/2/2018 to 14/01/2019 (truncated dataset);
- Days from 24/1/2018 to 18/2/2018 truncated due to highly potential outliers; and days after 14/01/2019 truncated as well due to incomplete week (the third week of 2019 -2019w3);
- Statistics presented in the post are for truncated dataset.

(1) Potential outliers are days that have intraday total merits beyond 123 or 1163;
(2) Median of intraday merits over the period is 619, whilst the interquartile range is from 513 to 773;
(3) Friday is the day over weeks has lowest intraday merits in terms of both median and mean, at 542, and 617, respectively.
In contrast, Monday is the day over weeks has highest intraday merits in terms of both median and mean, at 748 and 657, respectively.

1) Time series plot
I used full dataset (only dropped the first two days due to extremely high merits distributed during those days), since 24/1/2018 to 14/1/2019 to draw the below plot

2) Basic statistics
- Mean +/- sd:  846 +/- 901
- Median (interquartile range): 637 (519 - 845)
- Min - max: 312 - 2463.

Let's compared with statistics for the previous report.

From the full dataset, we can easily identify potential outliers via the following formula:
IQR = Q3 – Q1 = 845 - 519 = 326;
1.5*IQR = 1.5*326 = 489
Potential outliers:
-   Above Q3 +1.5*IQR = 845 + 489 = 1334
-   Below Q1 – 1.5*IQR = 519 – 489 = 30
Let's see how many days that have total intraday merits beyond 30 or 1334?
Code:
. count if merit > 1334 | merit < 30 & merit != .
  31
In total, 31 days are extremely potential outliers, and none of them occured recent weeks (only days before 18/9/2018).
Code:
. list id date merit if merit > 1334 | merit < 30 & merit != .

Let's identify potential outliers of the truncated dataset (from 19/2/2018 to 14/1/2019):
IQR = Q3 – Q1 = 773 – 513 = 260;
1.5*IQR = 1.5*260  = 390
Potential outliers:
-   Above Q3 +1.5*IQR = 773 + 390 = 1163
-   Below Q1 – 1.5*IQR = 513 - 390 = 123
Potential outliers are days that have intraday merits beyond 123 or 1163.
Let's see how many days that have total intraday merits beyond 123 or 1163 ?
Code:
. count if (merit >= 1163 | merit <= 123) & merit != . & id >26
  19
19 outliers in total, and there is no potential outlier day happened in early weeks of 2019.
Code:

Sure, I will do it later days.
Taking a quick glance at raw data within the recent two weeks, intraday merits have risen considerably.
I guess there are many factors contributed to the new wave of significant rises, including new merit sources added, the re-allocation of sMerits for each merit source, and the new Trust system.
Together, they made total intraday-merits rose.

For median and interquartile range [that I always prefer to use them rather than mean, and standard deviation. Because outliers will be removed when using median and interquartile range statistics], they take at least more than 6 days to retrieve statistics, hence I will show you statistics on before and after period (the day 9th of January will be used as a cut-off day) one or two weeks later.
Excellent work. Could you make a weekly breakdown of the next 2-3 weeks (and compare them to average weekly data) as I am certain there will be DT shenanigans in the making? Maybe even per section/user outliers if possible.

What did you mean? 'DT shenanigans'?
DT shenanigans in the making?

Thank you so much again for dumping data for me.
