901  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Mt.Gox announces its new Withdraw Center on: August 02, 2012, 11:13:32 PM
when adding a withdraw method (wire) it asks for MY name and address, but doesn't ask for the beneficiary account name (company).

i hope mtgox has thought about the fact that these are sometimes different.

this is currently broken:

https://www.spendbitcoins.com/convert/pay-bills-australia/

the currency drop-down box isn't being populated with a currency list, which is then causing the fiat-btc calculation to produce "NaN" in the alternate text input.

Hi PayB,

Not broken, just suspended. You may have missed the fine print at the bottom of the page...

https://spendbitcoins.zendesk.com/entries/21773181-aud-bank-account-austpost-reloadable-visa-bank-wire-temporarily-unavailable

I'm very sorry for the inconvenience.

Highest Regards,
Jeremy

oh, it must be very fine print... even after you've told me about it i can't see it!

i guess i'll wait til next week.

let's say it's 2pm, the wallet is completely empty and someone deposits 500 btc. another person has a 500 btc withdrawal set for 8pm. so what you're saying is, i should leave that 500 btc sitting in my wallet for 6 hours earning no interest so that i can send it to the second guy at 'the right time'? no, i need to get those coins out asap, either to that withdrawer, or to bst. if i send them to bst, there's no guarantee i can get them back out again by 8pm.

Right, but let's say it's 7:55pm when someone deposits 500 btc and another person has a 500 btc withdrawal set for 8pm.

You would hold the coins for 5 minutes and process the withdrawal.

If they hadn't been able to request the withdrawal in advance you would send the coins to bs&t and then 5 minutes later get the withdrawal request and have to request the coins back again.

It's always better to have advance warning of withdrawals.  At worst it makes no difference to what you do with the coins, and at best it saves you and pirate 2 transactions each.  As I understand it pirate offers higher interest rates to lenders who make less transactions, but I might be wrong about that.

So long as your lenders realise that giving 24h notice doesn't guarantee their withdrawal won't be delayed by up to 24h after the requested withdrawal time.  I think I'd implement it by having a "withdraw in [...] days and [...] hours" box on the withdraw page, defaulting to 0 in both boxes, and allow users to cancel pending withdrawals too.

^ that's effectively what i'm saying... that a withdrawal request for "8pm" doesn't become 'active' until 8pm, but that doesn't necessarily mean it gets paid at that time... could be 24 hours after that.

i do see how knowing in advance might help a little in the case of keeping coins for 5-10 minutes, but then things would work out almost exactly the same if everyone just requested their coins 5-10 minutes earlier Smiley
905  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [BitcoinMax.com] Paying 6.9% per week... Small accounts welcome. on: August 01, 2012, 07:04:52 PM
Quick suggestion, why not make withdrawal time automatically 24 hours, have it scripted, such that withdrawal time +24hours is when the payment is sent.

Then, twice a day balance your books, sending/receiving from pirate where required. This means that at least 1 "set" of receiving/sending will occur from pirate, balancing books before any withdrawal, and, will stop people moaning when it's not "quick enough" - sure it might be slower for the few, but, I think negative publicity/scare mongering caused from ppl chasing is worse.

any way to add a date to the withdraw section? i.e. request a withdraw on monday but not process it until when needed on thursday. some of us work 24 on and 24 off shifts and it would be a major convenience, plus we both would get more interest that way lol. if not, carry on as you are, service is great.

i suppose i could make it so that you can specify a date, but not a time, but even after the request becomes active, it may take 24 hours from then to be processed.

are you saying you aren't able to access the site for 2 minutes on thursday to make the request?

I think that this feature would actually be an advantage for you payb.tc, because you would know about a withdraw a few days in advance. So you can probably match some deposit with a withdraw without going through pirate.

i'm already constantly matching deposits/withdrawals all day, every day without going through pirate.

i can't time the withdrawals exactly because if i have too many coins in my wallet and no withdrawal requests, i gotta send them to bst.

then if a request comes in after that, it has to wait for further deposits, or if quite large, some coins back from pirate.

so that's why when you request, it may get sent to you in a few minutes or a whole day.

me knowing in advance wouldn't help because i can't just have the coins sitting around in my local wallet doing nothing anyway.

Hey, just noticed the site only displays up to 4 weeks worth of transactions? Any reason for this rather limiting limitation?

i've just updated this to show up to 6 weeks by the way.

Cool, any plans on eventually allowing us to download a CSV or something?

yeah i'm sure i could do that.

i'll post an updated to-do list on the weekend some time.

to anyone that isn't yet aware, the delay seems to have stemmed from mtgox's "hot wallet" being temporarily depleted.

mtgox delay -> bst delay -> bitcoinmax delay

Interesting,
I hadn't heard. Where was it reported?

i haven't seen the mtgox announcement myself, so maybe it's only rumour, but it's something that also affected bitinstant customers:

What's your point?  His only 7 posts are on this thread.  Is that suspicious?

Wouldn't call it suspicious. His 7 post are in the thread he created titled,

"I made 100BTC with Satoshi's dice. Is this normal?"

Is this normal?

My point being its shilling.

according to mtgoxlive + google, 100 btc is exactly 11802.8 shillings.

For estimating the paper balance, it's not important whether a payment was labeled "interest" or "withdrawal", they're one and the same in effect.

well, of course it's important, eg. let's say you see 100 btc transaction and let's say the rate is 5% to make calculating easy:

you assume it's all interest -> balance must be 100 / 0.05 = 2000
you assume it's half interest and half withdrawal -> balance must be 50 / 0.05 - 50 = 950
perhaps in reality it's 10 btc in interest, together with a 90 btc withdrawal -> balance must be 10 / 0.05 - 90 = 110

so balance could be estimated at anywhere from 110 to 2000 under those circumstances <- good luck with that.

i already explained that in another thread where i mentioned withdrawals and interest are sent to me together, not separately. perhaps this is why it's best to ignore your posts, because replying to you doesn't seem to make a difference anyway.
917  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [BitcoinMax.com] Paying 6.9% per week... Small accounts welcome. on: July 31, 2012, 09:37:40 PM
there was absolutely no re-investment (probably because of the panic that the delay caused)

Shortly after interest payments stop seems to be slightly too late to be panicking.  Either the scheme has just defaulted, in which case your withdrawal won't go through, or it hasn't, and there was no (more than normal) reason to panic.

not being sarcastic, that's perfect logic.

unfortunately panic and logic don't always go together very well.
918  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [BitcoinMax.com] Paying 6.9% per week... Small accounts welcome. on: July 31, 2012, 09:13:49 PM
i've now adjusted everyone's "Payment to..." transactions to be 24 hours later, so that noone is missing out on any interest.

I expect they agreed to do the reinvestment off-blockchain this week.

there was absolutely no re-investment (probably because of the panic that the delay caused), in fact, i still need to request more from pirate to cover the 1 remaining (large) withdrawal request i've got outstanding.

I was going to make a withdrawal as I started getting twitchy about everything, but I've decided to stick with BitcoinMax and Pirate. Everyone can have rough periods and it seems that Pirate's was at an incredible unfortunate time with all the talk of Vegas and the like.

Mainly just posting to say thanks for a great service OP.

thanks everyone, it's almost all sorted, still a few things to work out. 99% of the withdrawals are cleared too.
