901  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 23, 2015, 02:43:54 PM
Somehow I missed the picture of the back.  I've just installed an additional 400 amp service and am getting ready to build a shed.  If I could get my hands on a few of these things, that would be a game changer.

Maybe Spondoolies will allow us "plebs" to form a group buy on these so those with the available power can pick up a few. Shipping logistics would be a nightmare, though.
902  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 23, 2015, 02:39:09 PM
I would like to see what the power input looks like.  Is it a bunch of power cords, or direct wired with it's own breaker.

Just look at the back of it. 10x 240V inputs, so a bunch of wires.
903  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 23, 2015, 02:38:04 PM
I could run 2 of these in my garage at home

seriously? you have one mighty garage with a 150-200A dedicated box...jealous.

You have an insane garage sir!!!

at 16750 Watts or 16.75kW based on 220V (Standard US 220V service)  that means you have more than 150 amps available.  This compare to most homes that only have 200 amp service for their whole home. :-)
Also that would mean 80 amp breakers for each circuit.... or I guess you could do 6 15 amp 220 V circuit per machines...  That will be one HOT garage!!!!

On the plus side.... Your garage will be heated all winter.  :-)

If you have a detached bungalow you can opt to move your main panel/feed to the garage upgrade it to 200A and then feed into the main residence.

The garage is detached from my house. When I bought the house, the garage was fed electricity off of the house via a 60A 240V line. Since the garage is a separate building from my house, I was allowed to install a dedicated service onto the building even though I'm in a residential zone. Had a 200A service installed this summer at a cost of $1600 CAD, and am now using about 140A of it. Technically I have 400A available to me since the house also has a 200A service, but I don't plan on using it anymore. I was lucky enough to have my wife tolerate 2 years of in house + garage mining. Now I'll only bring in a few quiet miners for the winter, likely Titan and Neptune hardware to heat the place.

Thus far we still have options of hardware manufacturers that are keeping up with efficiency's.

Unfortunately due to the obvious business opportunities and reduced support costs it has become a trend for manufacturers to cater to the larger clientele and large volume Build To Order.

Thankfully. We haven't been left completely out of the loop, yet. Too bad Spondoolies aren't part of the "good" guys anymore. Sad

I could run 2 of these in my garage at home, and would if I had the opportunity to buy them. Hopefully that will happen in the future.

Congrats, Spondoolies!!

Holy shit.

My guess is 30 day wait for batch 2.

 So say late OCT  21-25.

I think that, no later than after one week,  the S7 is again on sale.

I hope so. I bought 2 coupons a few days ago, but haven't placed the order yet. Hopefully they'll be back in stock before my coupons expire.  Undecided

Thanks

OUCH @ the water damage. Guess the PSU doesn't have working protection circuits to trip off when needed.

I just had a thought about bitmain requiring the 3 PCI-e connectors be plugged in. It's not a matter of power per connector, it's most likely to insure voltage being delivered to the boards is as close to 12V as possible. Using only 2 connectors could result in 11.9V or lower voltage, depending on the capacity of the wires used.
910  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Um.... I don't think the power company is going to like this! on: September 15, 2015, 07:06:49 PM
If the ambient air inside the meter is heating up enough to cause plastic to discolor, the power company's thoughts would be the last thing on my mind. You're literally playing with fire. I wouldn't be surprised if the connection lugs were red hot. Get the power company there ASAP, and unplug your equipment.

Finally someone thinks what I though.  Miners should be turned off and electricity company needs to check it.     I honestly hope he does not sleep in this place mentioned. I can't imagine running like this.

I've used a LOT of electricity and company has only sent one voluntary questionnaire.  I choose not to take it as it was a lot of pages of 5 dollars off.   They never sent another one, and did not get mad over it.

It's a fire hazard IMO.. When things are improperly installed they can degrade much faster, I think that's what's happening here. The meter's legs probably aren't making proper contact with the terminals.

I had the power company pay me a surprise visit this summer. They found it odd that I was consuming 10 times more than the average household, I imagine. They ran some tests on the power meter to see if it was accurate, and checked to see if I had bypassed the meter to steal electricity. Pretty funny!

Also still looking for a coupon over here. Got an offer to buy on VIA PM for a good price, so I may just go with that.

If someone wants to give one away, bitmain ID = Prelude

I am thinking I will use A/C to cool my 5 S7's this summer. It will be a very small room built from insulated space panel. I will have 5 S7's powered by the Bitmain PSU's. My problem is though, that the cooling capacity of my A/C is 6KW and my miners will be drawing about 6KW.

Do I need to have more than 6KW cooling for my setup?

Thanks

AC is not the way to go. You need to extract the hot air outside and replace it with fresh air from the exterior of your mining room. I suggest starting a thread in mining support, as this is not really the place to ask for cooling help.

I'll be ordering an S7 shortly. Would appreciate a coupon if someone has one. Can pay for it if needed.

Cant wait to see the sound level.

3 ... 2 ..1 .. LIFT OFF !

just kidding Tongue

They will very loud  Tongue

Yeah this is also what I think. Do you think it will be worst than S5 ??

Should be, considering the S7 has 2 fans vs 1 for the S5. It's possible that they can spin slower though, since there's 2 of them. In that case, it would be quieter.

I just used the coupon that was donated to me earlier. I'll be ordering a second unit tomorrow, so if anyone has a coupon they won't be using I'd appreciate it! Bitmain user ID = Prelude

Thanks in advance!
916  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: September 02, 2015, 03:36:07 AM
All of my S4s are sold too, they're leaving my mine tomorrow afternoon.

Any firmware that isn't Oct or earlier has no actual voltage control. The changes you make in the interface do not get applied.

If anyone has an S7 coupon that they don't plan on using, I'd like to have it. Would be greatly appreciated! Bitmain user ID = Prelude

I send 1 coupon to:

acronce

Prelude

I ended coupons !

A very big thank you, FUTURAMA! Much appreciated.  Smiley Going to place an order now for my first S7.

If anyone else has another spare coupon, I'd like to order a second unit tomorrow. Will gladly take it off your hands!

That old firmware has a lot of bugs. You need to use ck's custom built cgminer instead of Bitmains to get proper speeds on some pools / share difficulty, and updating cgminer doesn't stick so if needs to be done every time you reboot the S4. It's annoying.
