9001  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Last chance to get some GEO before today's pump bump on: August 22, 2017, 02:46:07 PM

Thanks!

As for advice, hmm... Honestly, I should be asking other people for advice not the other way around.  But if I have learned anything so far, I think this is what's working out best for me so far:

Two main strategies for investing:

1) All your eggs in one (or few) baskets

2) A few eggs in many baskets.

Both have strengths and weaknesses, but I prefer #2.  Safer in the long run and gives you more options, every day just watch and see what's doing good, focus on that one.  What I like to do is find something that tends to violently spike every so often, buy in a dip, put in a sell of half of it for twice what I bought it for, and wait.  Might be waiting a while.  But when it hits, you covered your buy in and you still have half left for free.  If it doesn't spike that big, you can also say... buy 3, sell 2 at 150% buy cost and again end up with 1 free, etc.

Then, keep track of the ones you got for free and know that if you ever need to liquidate them for some other trade, you can do that at any time without concern for your purchase price.

Strategy #1's strengths are potentially bigger and faster gains.  Weaknesses are potentially bigger and faster losses.  And if you're under the buy in rate, you're tied up until it picks up, and you miss opportunities.

Strategy #2's downsides are higher transaction costs, slower return (but steadier), and sometimes it stings when one picks up and you think 'if only I had put all my eggs in *that* basket'.  But I'll take 'oww, I didn't make as much money as I could have' over 'OWWWW I LOST A WHOLE LOT'.  Steady return eventually turns into a bigger stack and lower return rates on that bigger stack are larger than higher return rates on a small, unstable investment.

Also, this is obvious but some people just ignore it: Research your buys.  Know about the investment before you put any money into it.  Know when important events are going to happen.  Know who the competitors are and what they're doing.  Listen to the haters, even if you don't agree with them.

That's pretty much the only info I have of value, anything else is speculation.

Anyone want to buy me a beer?  1DzNQaGds3NxVBatAGaWRF9qieyuR6M7qA  - THANKS

Thank you for the sharing!

Haha well you would definitely have deserved a beer from me but I missed the call on GEO,,, If I ever see you make a call again. And I join in time! I will definitely remember to pass you a beer tip. The only thing is I am also new and followed one person already. And it turned out bad. But I am a big bagholder for alts now so it is not VERY bad.
9002  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ICO] FunFair.io - Disrupting Online Gaming - New Casino Platform on: August 22, 2017, 02:22:31 PM
This price is taking off like crazy. Was hoping to get in but now I am going to have to wait for a correction (hopefully one happens). The tech and graphics of this gambling platform will take it to the top. I don't even gamble but the demo is fantastic

These are mock-ups wait till you see the real deal.

All of the games are in prototype form right now, and although they are good compared to other blockchain games, we want them to be a lot better and they need to be really great before we release them, as they need to compete against all other online games, and not just blockchain games. IE: by year end, we hope to have reached an extremely high game standard.

As far as I think, crypto gamblers are less interested in tech and graphics. Low house edge, provably fair systems, FAST betting, good community. These are the things Bitcoin gamblers love. This is why people splash 100 BTC wagers at simple bitcoin dice games. And deposit only $200 into super flashy non-crypto casinos.

Did you do any research to find out what crypto gamblers like?
9003  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Selling Minexcoins on: August 22, 2017, 02:09:28 PM
Hello all,

I want to sell all of mine 221 Minexcoins, for more info please PM.
why almost all of the bounty participants of minex bounty trying to sell all of their coins including you, i don't know if you are investor or bounty hunter still you want to sell your minex's what is the reason?

This is the main reason I think ICOs with big bounties are a bad idea from the beginning. Bounty hunters are blameless, they are looking to cash out their coins and have no affiliation to the project. This is not wrong, but they should be paid properly with marketing funds, not ICO tokens, since it is payment for a service.

But yes, so many selling Minex, and by the price offers that are going lower and lower, I guess no one wants to buy them?
9004  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I dont understand this market ! One day UP and one day DOWN on: August 22, 2017, 01:10:22 PM
Welcome to bitcoin. The 'hot mess supermodel'. When it works it's great.
When it don't she's a Banshee. If you plan on sticking around, you'll be
in this constant pattern

Bitcoin: Always Drama 🌪

Actually, Bitcoin is "Always Drama" only if you are spending all day reading the crypto sites for news, bitcointalk for postings and social media. If you are like a lot of other people who only bought Bitcoin and read about it in mainstream media, you would never realise even an ounce of the drama we hear and read about all the time.

This makes it no different from oil drama, or gold drama... etc.
9005  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] Dmarket - the worlds first decentralized, cross-game marketplace. on: August 22, 2017, 06:51:14 AM
I'm getting confused by some of the discussions here. But let me try and separate the main points from both sides.

Side A is asking why not use smart contract to secure the ICO sales.
Side B is saying there is no need.
My thought is a lot of ICOs are done like this, so yes, there is no need, if you believe the developer. You trust the developer will create and credit all tokens after ICO.

Side A is unsatisfied with lack of reason for this, but Side A... this is how it's done for many ICOs, and yes of course it will mean you are unhappy but that is it. Side B, maybe got confused and did not understand that Side A just wants to have more transparency. Simple answer: there is not 100% transparency in any ICO so far.

Am I correct?
9006  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Last chance to get some GEO before today's pump bump on: August 21, 2017, 06:52:48 PM
Nice call greyworld. I only just saw this or I might have put some of Bittrex portfolio against GEO. I'm still holding a lot of XEL that I'd have been happy to convert to a moving coin. Also your advice for taking back initials is similar to what I read about "how to hold bags". Any chance you could share some of these tips again?
9007  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Monero XMR to be listed on Bithumb! (ALL TIME HIGH) on: August 21, 2017, 05:25:21 PM
This type of news reminds me how little I know about crypto. I never heard about Bithumb exchange until today, and now I am reading it is the biggest exchange possible? I wonder how I never managed to see it even looking at all the exchanges on coinmarket. Good news for Monero,,, yet again I miss out on an alt that has doubled. Still good to buy in at 80 right?
9008  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: What do we think about SALT? on: August 21, 2017, 05:19:30 PM
It does seem like a new spin on the lending concept. Previously, you would have to liquidate all your crypto positions if you want funding or cash, but if you could put up your digital assets as collateral, then you don't have to give up your coins. It's almost like a professionalized or a structured platform for doing this as an alternative to the loan services you can find on bitcointalk (where your coins are your collateral).
9009  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Waves - should I purchase? & how to purchase? on: August 21, 2017, 04:18:51 PM
About the first question: don't rely on advice,,, especially from this forum. Get what you want at what price your own research recommends to you. That way, you don't have false hopes and you can learn properly. But my opinion: since you can earn from leasing, probably no harm to buy now. You can earn more to make up for losses if the value drops.

About the second question: if you are asking this, you shouldn't be buying any crypto! Invest into a service that takes care of your decisions for you. Good luck.
9010  Economy / Economics / Re: Best way for steady income on: August 21, 2017, 04:07:40 PM
When I hear steady income it means that you have a daily income and you have a payroll every half and end of the month. So doing signature campaigns, trading and other related stuffs in crypto currency cant be consider as a steady income as this pays us when the ico ends and when theres a pump in coins. But here even though we don't have daily income when we got our stakes and it is already in major exchanges, it almost or even surpasses our monthly salary. Thats why many are quitting their job in exchange of bitcoin.
However, having regular jobs will always gives us the steady income that we wanted.

Correct. Steady income means income you can rely on for a fixed amount and fixed timeframe. Unless you are an employee for a crypto company or you work for a company that can pay salaries in Crypto, you don't have a fixed income. In a second matter, reliably steady crypto income does not mean steady fiat income. Even Bitcoins have up and down. I think steady income does not work in decentralised economy. But that is part of the point.
9011  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: To Many SCAM! on: August 21, 2017, 09:14:22 AM
I have often invested in ICO, but too many SCAMs in the ICO world, especially now ICO is like dust grains. Let's discuss for a good ICO and not a scam, so we can enjoy the investment results

Always do your own research, before sending your money to some strangers you better research the project a lot, if you're not able to evaluate the project technical merit by reading the white paper you better stay away from those kind of investments.

This is absolutely true for avoiding complete scams that disappear with your hard-earned money. But you know what? If you look at those ICOs with so-called reputable people, good background and amazing technical details, many have also become abandoned or have lost a lot of their original value. And some who don't have real names of people, no real product, etc. are doing so well. I tell you this. ICOs are too much gamble at the moment.
9012  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you plan to quit the altcoin world? on: August 20, 2017, 07:28:02 PM

yeah, sometimes i am thinking like you, i am holding more than 15 altcoin including bitcoin. if i sell it now, i am absolutely make profit although its not too big but i am thinking about having altcoin is like an investment for a long term and i know altcoin price is drop too far but i also know that altcoin price will be rise again like before. so i am decide, no matter what its happen, i still holding those altcoin and i only sell if the price is getting up. i don't want to quit from crypto currency because i know crypto currency have a good future and beside that, in the future, technology will always come and technology will be the leading from all aspect.

I had a bad experience with altcoins and last week decided to buy one that seemed very good. My mistake for buying when everyone else was buying though,,, as it lost more than 20% almost the following day. So because I don't want to get another one, this is my new hold alt. I won't be moving for another very soon. Too much emotion!
9013  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum: Good alt or stay away? on: August 20, 2017, 09:18:39 AM
Ethereum is, in my opinion, the best crypto currency and is a great long-term investment.

It will boom (just as Bitcoin) even more when a crisis will hit the financial markets and the trust in and especially when the trust in fiat currencies will suffer. For example, if the Euro will crash the strongest crypto currencies will be a great buy!

Ethereum is more than just a crypto currency and DApps are clearly the future for some industries because decentralization has so so many advantages...

It will be highly volatile but nevertheless, I am confident that the long-term trend will go up. There will be major crashes in Ethereum and Bitcoin soon though.

This is normal if assets increase that much within a short period of time and if so many speculators are in the market. Also, successful hacking attacks will also force the price to go down from time to time.

I would have to agree that ETH is a great long-term investment, but not "the best". As much as anyone who dislikes ETH can talk about the poor history from the DAO days and pre mine, it has grown to become a strong platform with so much investment. I'm so surprised that it isn't more valuable. I would say that the vulnerabilities are just too problematic.
9014  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will LTC die ... on: August 19, 2017, 05:39:08 PM
I highly doubt it will. As a matter of fact they had some pretty big news yesterday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1KnT36rWyo

It's sometimes very strange how these random posts about doom and despair arrive just after such types of announcements. Litecoin has had a long shelf life and it is far from becoming expired. It has done a lot, it recently got Charlie Lee full time and it keeps making slow but solid progress from development side. And if there are people who think LTC is successful because no one uses it, remember it also had consensus problems. But they got through it and they will get through the others.
9015  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 1 BCH = 1 BTC before end of august? on: August 19, 2017, 08:49:46 AM
It's now significantly more profitable to mine bch. It's now a real possibility

https://cash.coin.dance/blocks

This is correct. But it is not the only coin more profitable to mine,,, cost for cost and specs for specs. And for as long as you can only sell BCH for BTC you will do nothing but improve the value of BTC and decrease the value of BCH. And tell me now who is mining only for profit? This is the majority. BCH will not die but it cannot be the strongest.
9016  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Waves vs Stratis on: August 18, 2017, 07:58:31 PM
Waves is just in a lull, because of NEO as was mentioned. It has many sucessful ICOs already, and the development is active, it's so new and the dex isn't even at 1.0 yet, so as long as it's over 100k it's still doing good. Seems everyone is trying to copy Eth, neo is just the china version, but every day I see a new ico for a new type of eth, based on eth blockchan. Waves is on it's own, totally unique with many features eth doesn't.  Stratis doesn't really have anyone using their product, do they? A lot of promises and potential. Strong development, I think it's one to hold and buy the dips, it already tested it's high around 400k and by the end of the year it should be back there. Next year I could see it at 0.01.

Why is one coin so dependent on others, especially all these ICOs? Should not the more ICOs happen the better, as like what happened with ETH when all the ETH ICO did? Also, WAVES is not 1.0 but don't forget Bitcoin is also only at 0.14.2. So really, there is no such thing as a 1.0 crypto and we cannot use that to measure maturity. This is all still strong speculation. Only time will tell.
9017  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Asset vs Currency on: August 18, 2017, 06:10:36 PM
Technically, all the ones listed are digital assets, if I am not mistaken. But I think, in the context of the question and the place they are used, the definition of currency is just cryptocurrency that has its own blockchain or other consensus network... Bitcoin is the clearest example here. Tokens are simply "created" upon these currencies. They have no actual purpose other than to provide some form of value and are linked or stored on these other crypto network.

One example I see: Ethereum network or blockchain. This is the currency. All the tokens created by ICOs stored on ETH blockchain.
9018  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH or BCC who whil be best? on: August 18, 2017, 05:49:42 PM
With the current situation, I think the BCH will lead the fight in the market at this time. At the beginning I had a bad opinion about the BCH but now the new context is opened and I appreciate the BCH

BCH has a lot to prove as a new coin that very few people already sold off and mistrusted from the beginning. So it will pour in a lot of effort to ensure old enemies are won back and new believers are installed. But ETH already has a base and just needs to lock itself in. By the way, a lot of ETH people are also BCH people. So there is no direct competition there.
9019  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: POCKET DICE.IO SCAM! on: August 17, 2017, 04:33:57 PM
I had no idea they died. I remember it was one of the very first dice games I played,,, never deposited because it was too slow. Just goes to show however "big" and "trusted" one service grows, it only takes 1 run to vanish everything. Does anyone know how much deposits they took and if anyone is trying investigations to recover?
9020  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Most Undervalued Coin of 2017! on: August 17, 2017, 03:09:17 PM

The undervalued stand-outs:

  • ZCoin - Lot's of development going on with a dev fund to push it forward.  New Asic resistant algo (Merkle Tree Proof) check out their blog https://zcoin.io/blog/ They have some genuine innovations and good reasons behind them.
  • Ark / BlockNet - Anything that can connect the disparate blockchain islands will add tremendous value to the cryptocurrency sphere as a whole. Both of these are at the forefront of these efforts.

Speculative Notable Mentions - Both around since '14 with no ICO, no Premine for either and active development ongoing.

  • Myriad -  5 hash functions to protect against 51% attack with merge mining support on SHA256 and SCRYPT - 4 million market cap.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=483515.0
  • Burst - HDD mined / Smart Contracts / 15 Million Cap at time of writing

Thank you VERY much for this useful post, finally after reading mostly rubbish with no reason to back up the coin. I am happy to "report" that I am aware of two coins up there. I still cannot agree with ZCoin or Ark. I for sure am on the same page that their technology is wonderful, but I really don't know if we can equal tech value with coin price value now. Nothing makes sense in crypto.

I like Burst too, by the way. But will never risk anything now.
