922  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 1+ free Ripple BTC giveaway - just post address! (Over 455 BTC gaveaway) on: May 20, 2013, 05:23:27 PM
It is all REAL BTC.

No it's not, it's a BTC IOU.  If it were real BTC you'd be able to spend it right away.
923  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ads now blocked by AdBlock Plus EasyList on: May 20, 2013, 03:33:08 PM
I'm just playing devil's advocate.  I can understand using adblock for things that get in the way, but seems a little silly to use it here where the ads aren't big and flashy.
924  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Alt-Coins on: May 20, 2013, 02:42:14 PM
All of this is besides the point though. Within 2 years, the next tech for mining will make even ASICs obsolete. It's already being prototyped.

And it will not be available (in numbers) to the public.

What's better than an ASIC?  I didn't think there was really anything else.  Please post a link or write about it because I'm curious.
925  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ads now blocked by AdBlock Plus EasyList on: May 20, 2013, 02:36:51 PM
Sorry theymos. I don't agree on being forced to see something, I think the users should have a decision.

But you're happy to use the service for free?  Ads are how you "pay" for using the forums.
926  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 1+ free Ripple BTC giveaway - just post address! (Over 455 BTC gaveaway) on: May 20, 2013, 11:31:02 AM
Is it real BTC or BTC IOU ? The concept of ripple is just too confusing !

BTC IOU
927  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Alt-Coins on: May 19, 2013, 11:37:02 PM
Altcoins _should_ be innovative.

They should be, the problem is most aren't  Undecided

@OP

Don't bump your post 10 minutes after you make it.
930  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is miningunited.com a SCAM, turning .1 bitcoins into .137 for almost free? on: May 19, 2013, 12:59:50 PM
Only 85 BTCs?

Yeah, it's BS. I'm 39% of that and I haven't received anything, nor do I expect to receive anything. Contact the FBI and file a complaint, he can enjoy his bitcoin in prison.

Ok.. I can now testify that Mining United is a scam. Condor335 cannot possibly be owed 39% of the remaining 85 BTC because Mining United owes me 74.5 BTC.

I'm the guy who purchased packages of 0.5x40 & 0.5x20 & 0.5x60 from Mining United. The Transactions on the blockchain are:

First, I got an automated reply saying that I'll be given a 100% refund. Now, upon mailing Mining United's gmail address, there isnt even an automated reply anymore.

From the above transactions, 4 BTC was to be returned yesterday. I am now responsible for feeding this guys children & i'm afraid that I'll be the cause of bringing more people like him into this world.

I can live with this loss. But I would like to see this guy be brought to justice. So, I'm offering a 50 BTC bounty on this guys head to anyone who can get me my BTC back.

If you don't get your BTC back I won't feel bad for you.

I called that this was a scam weeks ago.
931  Other / Meta / Re: Can we stop moving threads about mining alts? on: May 19, 2013, 12:57:55 PM
It doesn't matter how big your altcoin gets, or even if it surpasses bitcoin, it still is NOT mining bitcoin. If something's big enough, an external forum dedicated should be made for it by those who care about it, and it should not be the responsibility of the bitcoin forum moderators to maintain a subforum for altcoins. There already are other dedicated forums such as https://forum.litecoin.net/ . You may see it otherwise, but those of us who are here primarily to promote bitcoin and to support those mining it, do not.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=200865.0

Exactly this!

If an alt-coin is actually good it will have it's own community, people should go there to learn about it.
932  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Richard Vialoux (alias mc_lovin) and his service are now uder investigation on: May 18, 2013, 05:05:03 PM
Maybe you should post some details of how you were scammed.
933  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 1+ free Ripple BTC giveaway - just post address! (Over 455 BTC gaveaway) on: May 18, 2013, 02:51:34 AM
Definition of fraud - Wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain.

Deceiving newbies into thinking you're going to give them a Bitcoin in a ledger system they don't understand so you can cash in on their real BTC being held at Bitstamp qualifies I think.

That's why I put a warning at the top of the thread.

It's not that simple.  He's using a system that is completely different than Bitcoin in order to steal people's real Bitcoin.   He has admitted this.   Did you not see my screenshot?  Or does this not matter?

This is not an "experiment."   He is using a completely foreign interface to fleece newbie's of their Bitcoin.   Why would just put a "make sure you read about Ripple" when someone is flat out trying to scam people?  Why not just end the scam?

EDIT: I see your MODEDIT #2 now, I missed that initially.

Mod edit #2 was John K, don't want to take credit for his work.  It definitely adds on in a good way.
934  Other / Meta / Re: Aesthetics on: May 18, 2013, 02:49:27 AM
I like the default theme. It's clear and concise. I'd be open to small modifications, though. A logo isn't necessary.

^^^

Simple is the best, come here for the content not the looks.

Asked many times before, AFAIK it's not going to change.

936  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you been tipped in BTC for a post? on: May 17, 2013, 10:12:23 PM
I can tip anyone with online banking too

Just give me your bank #

Bitcoin is not special in this aspect rofl, it's not like I can tip you without your address

Tipping possibility on some sites is just some system which could 100% be built for USD too

#OPFAIL

Comparing a bank account number to a bitcoin address... I'm thinking you don't know how bitcoin works.

940  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Alt-Coins on: May 17, 2013, 07:16:35 PM
With the number of people who get involved in crypto always increasing, newbies will always need a place to go and will start at the alternatives causing a few of them in increase. I'm sure there's room for a number of them, and what happens after the block chain is completed? It should move forward with with new coins kind of the way new bills are printed and updated every decade (or whatever time frame it is).

It's normal to move on. I'm quite sure that Bitcoins were the original, but alternatives such as LTC having big potential.

The point is most alt coins don't hvae potential.  They're just created to abuse people who think they do.
