921  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ohio offering lottery prize worth one million for those that get the COVID shot on: June 08, 2021, 02:51:10 PM
That is good news. At least, congratulations to people who win those lotteries, and maybe that can attract the attention of other people who do not vaccinate to follow their step to vaccinate. If that happens, then the number of vaccinated people will increase and get more protection from the vaccine. Maybe it will be better to give that money to all people who are already vaccinated because I think that money is really worth it for those who do not have an income.

In the United States, now they are having a surplus supply of vaccine, and therefore it makes sense to take out such measures. I heard that they have tens of millions of AstraZeneca vaccine doses in stock, despite the fact that they don't intend to use these doses to vaccinate the American population (as of now, only Pfizer, Moderna and J&J are approved for American residents). Anyway, this is good news for non-Americans as well. Since there is an oversupply of the vaccine, we can expect the Americans to export some of that surplus to those countries which are facing a shortage right now.
922  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Are Airdrops and Bounties worth the work? on: June 08, 2021, 02:33:07 PM
both are still a consideration for everyone who enjoys it. some people do both some prefer bounties over airdrops.
what is clear, I myself only believe in airdrops carried out by projects that are already running or new projects that collaborate with pre-existing projects.

That depends on the individual. For some people, bounties may be more suitable, and for some other group airdrops may be suitable. Nowadays airdrops are also taking a lot of time to enroll. Previously all you need to do was to provide your ERC-20 wallet address, and may be the email address as well. But now the airdrops ask for all sort of information, including the Twitter, Facebook and Telegram accounts. Also, you need to make posts with your social media accounts. In short even the airdrops have become similar to bounty campaigns.
923  Economy / Speculation / Re: All Crypto in Free-Fall again, BTC retesting 30K then all the way to 10k and bel on: June 08, 2021, 02:21:17 PM
10k is much closer than you think.

Maybe it is. But the long term investors are not going to be bothered about it. For people like me, 10K represents another opportunity to accumulate coins at cheap rates. Noobs will be selling their coins and whales as well as institutions will be accumulating them. Now there are two possibilities. Either this dip will be a temporary one, and the bull run will continue after a few months (similar to what happened in 2017), or the dip will last for 1.5-2 years, similar to what happened in 2018-19. Either way, it is fine with me.
924  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Gas Fees Drop on: June 08, 2021, 02:09:14 PM
I think this cheap transaction fee will not last long because when the conditions of the exchange recover and transactions using the ethereum platform increase, it will definitely make the gas costs for making transactions also increase, so as long as gas costs are cheap like this, you should be able to use good.

Well.. we cant expect it to last long. As long as the scalability issue for ETH is not resolved, we will be dealing with very high gas prices every now and then. ETH 2.0 was supposed to reduce the transaction fee for Ethereum. But in the end it turned out to be another delaying tactic used by the developers to divert the debate on fee levels. I no longer trust tall claims being made by the ETH developers. They are simply not interested in reducing the gas prices. The monopoly they enjoy right now have made them arrogant.
925  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FBI says it recovered $2 million in Bitcoin Ransomware payment... How? on: June 08, 2021, 01:57:16 PM
If dkbit98's post can be trusted, then it seems like the FBI played a very intelligent game. Either they tricked the hackers to send the coins to a wallet controlled by them (by convincing them that they are some sort of money launderers and they could help the hackers in converting the coins to fiat in an anonymous manner), or they contacted the Gemini admins and seized the coins with their help. Either way, the hackers seems to be a bunch of noobs who were in a hurry to cash out. And in the end they lost all those coins and most probably within a few days they will get arrested as well.
926  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which is best Altcoin to buy now on: June 07, 2021, 05:08:16 PM
Very true, with the volatile nature of this market, you needed to have much deeper knowledge if you use that feature, stop and loss is good only if you fully understand the situation,

when you have good skills anticipating how the market will proceed and how will you take advantage of those short pump and dump movements.

Tough call but very possible if you have the right skills, buy low and sell high always good if you know how to place your investment on time.

You can't use the same strategy that you use in stock market for the cryptocurrency investment. Because both are very different from each other and they require different strategies depending on the situation. And even in cryptocurrency market, you need different strategies with different coins. Because Bitcoin is in a different category when compared to Ethereum and Cardano. BNB is in another category and requires a different strategy. And then we have shitcoins such as Doge, which requires yet another type of planning.
927  Economy / Economics / Re: I currently cannot own a Paypal, Bank Account, CashApp, etc on: June 07, 2021, 04:40:07 PM
You're right about these cards not working in ATMs and offline shopping. It seems that the next best thing is to use services which you pay in crypto to shop online for you and deliver to your location. Purse.io does that for Amazon, but I've heard closing-down rumors and scam accusations against them that I don't know if they are true.

They're also not going to work on any cloud service. DigitalOcean, GCP, OVHcloud, and Scaleway all rejected my card (which was a Black as I said - the other card types have worse acceptance rates), AWS wouldn't accept my card's billing address, Linode "accepted" my card and then immediately closed my newly registered account (LOL!), and Hetzner takes the card but now wants my documents for KYC.  Only Vast.ai, the GPU rental place, took it without a fuss.

Or bug a relative living in US/EU that does have a credit card and hope they don't tell you to take a hike. Sad but true. It's what some people resort to doing.

Back in 2013 and 2014 it was relatively easy to purchase prepaid debit cards and some of the providers were even ready to ship the cards without KYC. But times have changed and it is no longer possible to order such cards now. Virtual cards are available now, but even these cards are becoming rare nowadays and the existing cards have seen the acceptability going down. We need to adjust with the changing circumstances. But as far as I am concerned, if one opportunity is lost, then another one appears in the horizon.
928  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Would you "swap" your crypto for a Tesla? on: June 07, 2021, 04:28:24 PM
When the OP made this post, Bitcoin was trading at around $60,000 per coin. The current prices represent around 40% reduction from those levels. So in a way, it would have been more profitable to purchase a Tesla S-class when this post was made. How much depreciation would be there in two months? Maximum 2%? This 2% depreciation would have been preferable to 40% reduction in net value. But always remember that Bitcoin gives good returns in the long term, irrespective of temporary fluctuations.
929  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-06-06] Senators Urge Crackdown On Crypto As Ransom Payment After Gas Pipe, on: June 07, 2021, 02:10:41 PM
Ransomware attacks have been reported since 1989, and that is two decades before the first Bitcoins were mined. Joseph Popp was the mastermind behind "AIDS trojan", the first ransomware ever created. Although it is true that Bitcoin made these sort of attacks more successful, it will be wrong to claim that targeting BTC instead of the actual hackers will result in a reduction in ransomware attacks. As we all know, the attackers would simply move to a more anonymous form of payment.
930  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Sell My Portfolio for 75% of a Bitcoin? on: June 07, 2021, 01:58:38 PM
My portfolio is 50% BTC, 25% ETH, 25% XMR. And, as much as I love those coins, I would dump them all in a heartbeat to get that magical 1BTC.

Mine is more than 90% BTC now. Back in 2018, I sold most of my alts, and converted them to either ETH or BTC. That proved to be a good step, because the coins that I sold back then (BitSend, Denarius, Gbyte.etc) are now almost worthless. And I am sure that the same will happen to many of the coins listed out by OP. I am not saying this about coins such as ADA and ETH, but about the other alts in that list. The recent bull rally has taken the altcoin market share from less than 25% to more than 50%, and this has made many of these coins heavily overpriced.
931  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto is our last hope for financial independence - John McAfee on: June 07, 2021, 01:46:01 PM
Even a broken clock shows the time correct twice a day Wink. I may not like the guy but the reality is that crypto is a weapon for financial independence.
He is a wise guy actually and he earned a lot from ICO industry but also lost all the respect he earned for years prior to that. But we cannot discount his abilities and he has always advocated for crypto and this time I do agree with him that achieving financial freedom is possible only through bitcoins or crypto in general.

Governments can never control crypto and hence they are trying to imitate crypto by launching their own crypto but they fail to realize that people use crypto because it offers them decentralization and freedom while a government launched crypto neither aims nor can achieve the same goals.

People like McAfee are responsible for the death of the ICO sector. A lot many users lost their hard earned money and had their lives ruined because of McAfee. If you claim that he is a wise guy, then I don't want to argue against it. But he used his wisdom for the wrong purpose. He could have easily earned money by taking part in genuine projects. But he chose to side with the scammers due to his greed. He misused the trust that he gained during the past few decades. And now after all this, he wants to be accepted in the cryptocurrency community again. I just want to say STFO to him.
932  Other / Off-topic / Re: Anonymous against Elon Musk and his BTC and crypto market manipulations! on: June 07, 2021, 01:34:04 PM
"The higher you go the harder you fall". This clown makes rockets and doesn't know this, imagine how smart he really is.

I think this will apply to Elon Musk completely and one day a book will be written called "The rise and fall of Elon Musk".

Arrogance, narcissism and greediness never end well.

Sometimes people get blinded with success and unfortunately with Elon Musk this is happening. He has become the second richest individual in the world, by investing in companies that make overpriced EVs and rockets. Tesla is surviving because of heavy government handouts and subsidies, and even after that they are not profitable (only because of their investment in Bitcoin, Q1 2021 turned out to be profitable for them). SpaceX can't compete against the Russian rockets, so they got their competitors banned. Let's see for how long this loser will be able to sustain with this business model.
933  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: June 07, 2021, 01:21:39 PM
I think this a great move in making Bitcoin a legal currency! But also more regulations will be imposed.

Nothing is official as of yet, and I would be rather cautious. All we have is a statement form the president (Nayib Bukele). A bill needs to be introduced in the parliament and passed, in order for Bitcoin to be declared as legal tender in El Salvador (it should not be a problem for Bukele, as his party is having a majority in parliament). But I will be vary of delaying tactics from the parliamentarians and regulations from the authorities. If in the end they impose all sort of restrictions on the usage of Bitcoin in remittance, then very few people may use it.
934  Economy / Economics / Re: Risk of Inflation in Economy. on: June 07, 2021, 12:14:03 PM
But do you know why their prices are also surging up? Because of INFLATION, and it will get worse before to gets better. I believe like the best Bitcoin investing strategy for plebs like us, what to do with Gold and real estate is to Buy the dip and HODL. If I can buy a small farm land, I would do it.

For people like us, Bitcoin looks like the most suitable option. If you go for gold/platinum, then storage is an issue. You need to spend on expensive safes at home and even then it is not 100% safe. One option is to go for bank lockers or digital ETFs. And regarding real estate (farmland, houses.etc), there are additional expenses in the form of property tax and maintenance. If you don't have maintenance and all, then real estate is not the suitable option for you. That leaves you with a handful of choices, such as stocks, cryptocurrency and bonds.
935  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Sell My Portfolio for 75% of a Bitcoin? on: June 07, 2021, 11:25:03 AM
With the altcoins looking inflated right now, I would agree with your suggestion of increasing the share of BTC to at least 75%. But needs to analyze various cryptocurrencies carefully which of the alts you need to sell. Obviously you need to reduce the share of ETH, since it is 30% of the portfolio. I would suggest to sell 4/5th of the XMR holding. The same advice with XRP as well, because these coins are looking overpriced with low future potential. Would do the same with ALGO, ONE and HOT. With LINK and ADA, I would be more cautious.
936  Economy / Economics / Re: Economy after COVID-19 on: June 07, 2021, 11:13:43 AM
2.5% of the population worldwide? that is exaggeration because there is not even 1.5% who dies by now and the virus is slowly getting rid already.

Perhaps this 1.5% figure is from infections with the original strain. A recent study from the city of Bangalore in India suggests a mortality of 7%. And it may be even higher, given that a number of people who recovers from the pandemic succumbs to various complications later. And more than 90% of the infections in this study were caused by the Delta strain. So I could see an increase in mortality by up to 5 times due to the mutated strain. And the bad news is that this strain (B.1.617.2) is resistant to some degree against the vaccines as well.
937  Economy / Economics / Re: El Salvador plan to make BTC legal tender on: June 07, 2021, 10:59:37 AM
It is great news, but I could see some complexities. The vast majority of the Salvadorian expats live and work in the United States. And cryptocurrency regulations are quite strict in the US. For example, each and every transaction needs to be reported to the IRS, while filing the tax return. So if someone originally from El Salvador wish to send remittance to his family back home, there is a hell lot of paper work involved. Anyway, this is where PayPal could be useful. They have recently approved cryptocurrency withdrawals to third party wallets. So the expat could just purchase BTC using fiat, and then withdraw it to a wallet back home.
938  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ohio offering lottery prize worth one million for those that get the COVID shot on: June 07, 2021, 10:50:03 AM
So maybe sooner or later, the other states will use the same way to attract their people to vaccinated and if that can succeeds, we can see that most people will get the vaccine while they can also have a chance to win the lottery. The scholarships also help students have full funds for their school and do not have to think about how they will pay for their study. If many people want to get the vaccine, that will boost the rate of people who can prevent the virus attack and sooner or later, it could reduce the number of infected people in that country.

Almost all the states have now announced lotteries for those who have been administered vaccine doses. The California lottery is having a lower prize range ($50,000), but it has more number of winners. The first set of 15 winners were announced yesterday. The state of Washington has also announced a lottery, with a first prize of $1 million and second prize of $250,000 (for 4 people). Colorado is another state which has announced a top prize of $1 million for the winners. Incidentally all these states are run by the Democrats.
939  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fully vaccinated individuals now spared of masks in the casinos in Vegas on: June 06, 2021, 06:18:11 PM
Yes, it might not be safe for some people. But for the other, it might give them more immune to prevent the virus attack. The effect will vary between all people who get the vaccine, but I am sure the pharmaceutical industry still works hard to finish the new vaccine, which will have more power. But what I am worried that people with a serious disease will be more susceptible than healthy people, even if they get the vaccine. I still waiting for the invitation from my government to get vaccinated.

Even those with comorbidities would fare better, in case they receive two doses of the vaccine. But being overweight and diabetic increases the fatality rate by manytimes, and the vaccine won't be able to reduce it to zero. Those who are vaccinated also need to wear masks and perform social distancing, especially if they have one or more comorbidity. In the end, everyone is responsible for themselves. Please remember that vaccines can only help in our fight against the virus.
940  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: June 06, 2021, 06:04:45 PM
You are right, but the West Indies team has less experienced bowlers. Looking at the matches against New Zealand, one can understand how weak the bowling lineup of the West Indies is. New Zealand scored 238 in the first match against the West Indies. And New Zealand won by a huge 72 runs. The West Indies need to further improve their bowling lineup.

That is sad actually. Until around 2000, West Indies had the best pace bowlers in the world. For almost half a century, every other country was behind them as far as pace bowling is concerned. Perhaps the last of these legendary bowlers were Courtney Walsh and Curtly Ambrose. After that West Indies failed to produce a pace bowler, who could be included in the "legendary" category. Nowadays, it is hard to find a West Indian bowler who is more than 6 feet tall, and could bowl at above 90 mph on a consistent basis.
