942  Other / Meta / Re: [REQ] Croatian, Serbian and Bosnian section in the "Other Languages" forum. on: December 15, 2014, 08:01:04 PM
The Croatian thread seriously got big, that's true. The Serbian/Bosnian threads aren't that big, but still, their respective languages are close to being same, so I don't see why they shouldn't be included in the subforum.

Here's a rough sketch Cheesy
Tell me if you'd like something in this fashion or if you've imagined something else.

944  Other / Meta / [REQ] Croatian, Serbian and Bosnian section in the "Other Languages" forum. on: December 15, 2014, 09:31:40 AM
Hello. We'd like to request a dedicated section for these three languages.
The languages are very similar and we can understand each other perfectly fine. The threads became quite large in the subforum and maybe it's time for a dedicated section.
Also, a staff member probably approves it: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=25215.msg9838312#msg9838312
If required, I'll gladly perform moderation on the subforum.

Thanks.

Uf, nisam dugo bio ovdje. Ima li ista novog? Cheesy

I think that you should ask for a dedicated section for your language here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=24.0

You really mean that? Cheesy
Would be nice, I'll post it now.
946  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] BitTourist - The open source tourist platfom on: December 15, 2014, 07:52:50 AM
An in-house server to show videos? Why not give the tourist a website URL to browse?

You say it in a way that makes it really suck :/
It's not just random videos, it's about the place they're visiting, recommendations, everything in one place.

So if I read this correctly the idea is to have a virtual tour guide inside an apartment that recommends local area products and services when a person books a hotel.

Sort of interesting, but the internet is there this only provides a bit of convinience of putting it all in one place.

Kind of. Yeah, it puts it all in one place with the addition of multimedia that entertains the client.
947  Bitcoin / Project Development / [ANN] BitTourist - The open source tourist platfom on: December 14, 2014, 09:29:33 PM

BitTourist

BitTourist is a new innovative platform currently under development. It is imagined as a platform for all people that rent apartments for tourists and maybe even for hotels and similar places.
BitTourist is imagined to be an entirely minimalistic open-source platform consisted of two Raspberry Pis, a network router and an external (possibly of large storage) hard drive for use with one of the Raspberry Pis.

The platform is imagined to be backed by Bitcoin and encourages tourists to use Bitcoin.

Features:
BitTourist is imagined to be an Intranet inside the house/rented apartment. The platform would be accessed when connected to the house's WiFi. The network itself would offer Internet connection for clients/tourists and would also offer the before mentioned Intranet access where the client would be able to access the local website.

The website itself would offer:
  • Video or audio content of :
    - Local culture
    - Places to visit
    - City history
    - Recommendation of local food
    - etc.
  • Local radio:
    - Local Intranet radio with choice of music genres, or with local music
  • Old and new photos of the city's tradition, people, buildings...
  • ... and possible other features

Access to certain features would be made available by paying with Bitcoin, as well as the entire tourist's stay in the apartment.

My goal is to collect an undefined amount of funds, possibly by crowdfunding so I can buy routers, Raspberry Pis, cables, and everything I need to get the project running.
The entire project will be published on GitHub and will be open-source forever.

There's something in your database that always returns True. You should fix that.

...

It worked! Thanks so much!
I got the bootstrap torrent, moved it into .bitcoin/ and it synced up. Then I restarted it and connected to the first node in your list and now it's syncing Smiley

Seems like my bitcoin-qt didn't want to sync older blocks... Still not sure why though.
954  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: bitcoin-qt "No block source available" on: November 20, 2014, 01:30:26 PM
Thanks! I'll try it out and let you know.
955  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: bitcoin-qt "No block source available" on: November 19, 2014, 09:20:55 PM
Retry it with tor and first change the port to 9150

Did that already. Tried with 9050 when running standalone and with 9150 when running the tor-browser-bundle.
956  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: bitcoin-qt "No block source available" on: November 19, 2014, 09:04:45 PM
You run it with tor ?

No. Tried it with Tor as well, only got 6-7 "out" connections. Also tried with UPnP and without UPnP.
957  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / [SOLVED] bitcoin-qt "No block source available" on: November 19, 2014, 08:19:51 PM
Hi.
I installed bitcoin-qt from the official Arch Linux repository and I can't seem to sync the blockchain.
I've been through all the basic stuff, added some fallback nodes... Nothing.
Port 8333 is open in my router and bitcoin-qt reports 12 active connections, but still says "No block source available."
Is there a workaround to this or will I have to use an alternative client?
