941  Economy / Economics / Re: No new millionaires come from stock market in 2020/2021 on: June 06, 2021, 02:03:13 PM
Jfc, all of the responses in this post are demonstrably wrong. 'No millionaires in the stock market' is such an obviously dumb and self-defeating statement it doesn't even require proof, just to point out how wrong it is because you have to be an idiot to believe otherwise. 'Tesla and Amazon don't make anyone money except the founders' is the same type of obviously self-defeating statement.  It's obvious you don't know anything about the stock market and just want to circle jerk to crypto, so good luck being taken seriously.  'Wah wah, everything is rigged except crypto.'  You're a clown.

ROFL. Had to agree with every single word posted by jaysabi, because the OP put up such an idiotic claim. A few weeks back, Coinbase was listed in NASDAQ. That created around $60 billion in new wealth and many of the promoters instantly became billionaires. Brian Armstrong (the CEO of Coinbase) sold stocks worth $292 million during the initial hours of listing. And remember that Coinbase was one of the hundreds of IPOs to get listed in NASDAQ so far this year. I agree with you. SaiyanSS3 is indeed a clown.
942  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Meme Coin Will Survive Long on: June 06, 2021, 01:47:18 PM
In light of this question. Has someone already made some research about the other coins? Like which of these ones other than DOGE could be found on multiple exchanges? Which of these has high market cap. Which of these has a lively and active community? I do hope someone would make some research about this and be able to share the findings with us here. They may be shitcoin and memecoins now but 10 years later we might be in for a big surprise.

Don't go by the numbers. Market cap and trade volume for these coins may be inflated. Take Dogecoin for example. More than 67% of all the circulating supply is concentrated in the top 100 wallets, which makes it one of the most centralized cryptocurrencies. But if you look at the daily trade volumes, you will get an impression that the user base of DOGE is very large. That is not the case. The high trade volume is achieved by faking the trade data, as well as by using automated bots in various exchanges.
943  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BNB to $1k? on: June 06, 2021, 01:35:13 PM
Those who are planning to invest in BNB needs to hold back on their investment for some more time. Janet Yellen and her lapdogs have set their sights on Binance. We can expect a lawsuit from the SEC anytime in the next 2-3 months. And once that happens, I expect the BNB prices to crash. If you are planning for long term holding, then there is nothing wrong in purchasing at current levels (in the future Binance will be the Amazon of cryptocurrency), but still I would be a but more patient with BNB.
944  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fully vaccinated individuals now spared of masks in the casinos in Vegas on: June 06, 2021, 01:23:12 PM
Of course, I don't believe in such things, unless I actually saw the events with my own eyes, in other words, to see is to believe. And not all media reports are pure facts because there are also biases. I have my own understanding of what I know. I just believe more in side effects, which if there is no effect on others can have an effect on you because the components inside the body are different (I am referring to complex studies) such as allergies and other current illnesses.

You need to make your own decision, whether it is beneficial to get vaccinated or not. People who have a history of allergic reaction to vaccines and other medications need to be careful. If the COVID incidence in your country is low, and if the majority of the population is already vaccinated, then there is a chance that you can defer or even refuse vaccination. But for others, I would say that it is more beneficial to get themselves vaccinated. In countries such as India, people have no other choice. Because the infection rate is so high.
945  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Full of get-rich-quick opportunities at Bitcointalk on: June 06, 2021, 01:13:06 PM
I am someone who managed to get 40x returns on my investment in cryptocurrency. If you wan to get rich, then I have a few advices:

1. Stick to the established coins, at least with 90% of your funds
2. Avoid panic selling. Have profit booking targets and strictly follow them.
3. Keep your coins safe and secure.
4. Avoid Ponzis
5. Avoid shitcoins
6. Never ever keep your coins in exchange wallets, no matter how much you trust them
7. Keep at least 80% of your coins for long term HODL.
946  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: June 06, 2021, 01:01:16 PM
The match between England and New Zealand will be ending in a draw, i thought New Zealand had a good chance to win the match but unfortunately rain has dented the plans of New Zealand and they have declared their second innings and England have a target of 269 to win the match and they have around 73 overs to get to that score and it is a bold decision by New Zealand.

New Zealand won't be disappointed though. For them, this series will act as practice matches for the WTC final. And the Kiwi players are in very good form, especially Devon Conway, Tim Southee and Kyle Jamieson. And I am specifically concerned about Jamieson, as he has created a few issues for the Indian batsmen in the past. The only concern for New Zealand should be the poor form of Neil Wagner. I would still say that he is one of the best test bowling options they have. But if his form doesn't improve, then he needs to be replaced with Boult.
947  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: June 06, 2021, 12:51:13 PM
They will get the sponsors if the people gravitate towards cricket and including cricket in the Olympics is the first step and then it might take over a decade for it to attract the fans, so it is going to be a long process. The reason Indian cricket is rich with huge sponsors is because they have a huge population who follow the matches and it is a huge marketing opportunity for the sponsors and when other countries reach that level that they can also reap the same benefits.

There is a reason why the most popular sport in the world (Football) is a part of the Olympics. FIFA could easily say that the football world cup is more popular than the Olympics and therefore they don't want to participate. But they have never raised any such objections. On the other hand, they have actually encouraged teams to participate in the Olympic Games. Some of the best footballers in the world have taken part in the Olympic Games. In the end, FIFA realizes that it is an ideal opportunity to grow the sport. The thinking from the ICC is different. For them, there is no need to make cricket more popular.
948  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Polkadot [DOT] is a bad investment because it has unlimited inflation! on: June 06, 2021, 12:37:09 PM
The fact that the coin has an unlimited issue cannot automatically classify it as a bad coin for investment. In the market, it is easier to count coins that have a limited issue than those whose issue is unlimited. For example, one of the most popular coins for investment, which have an unlimited issue, is ethereum.

Who told you that the Ethereum supply is unlimited? For your information, there is a limit on maximum supply at 100 million. Now I know that there are talks, on moving to a hybrid Pos-PoW system, but still I don't think that they will mess up with the maximum supply limit. Because if they do so, then the market cap of Ethereum will crash. The only coin with an unlimited maximum supply that has been doing good is Dogecoin. But even in case of Doge, we need to see whether it will be able to sustain the gains.
949  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Show me your biggest gains! on: June 06, 2021, 12:25:19 PM
I don't know any such stories with Doge, but one of my friends (incidentally the guy who introduced me to the world of cryptocurrency) got his BTC in 2012, when the price was around $10. His investment went up by almost 5,000 times in the next 9 years. In my case, I got my first coins in 2017 January for $900. The current exchange rates represent an appreciation of 40x. When compared to 5,000x, 40x doesn't sound like a lot, but for me, it was a life changer. It not only changed my life, but also the lives of my friends and relatives.
950  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Gas Fees Drop on: June 06, 2021, 12:13:07 PM
if this drop due network improvement , its really good news for us. but if this happen due ethereum price ,maybe we need more time to see better network in ethereum chain,. and maybe using bridge in project that another token in binance smart chain could be solution for us.

There is no improvement in the network. Most of the Blockchains are experiencing a lack of demand and this is the same with Ethereum as well. The exchange rates have dropped by 40%-50% for each of these coins, and this has affected the trade volumes. The traders are not very active right now and the situation will remain like this until the prices recover. So this dip in the gas price is a temporary phenomenon. We can expect the gas price to be >100 gwei, once the exchange rates recover.
951  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crazy Dogecoin run 100x in 2 years on: June 06, 2021, 12:01:21 PM
For now I see no one running away from Dogecoin because the market price movement has greatly increased in the past two years and it is possible that its price will be even higher than the current market capitalization of probably going to exceed $ 40 Billion.

Actually that is the reason why people should be running away from DOGE. The prices have gone up like 100x in the last 12 months. Anyone who is not blinded by greed would be booking profit and making his exit at this point (or at least reduce the holdings by 50%). It is very clear that the bull run was propelled solely by hype. Unless the base parameters such as adoption improves, there is no chance that this valuation will stay. And so far we haven't seen any proof that the adoption is increasing.
952  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: June 04, 2021, 07:36:25 PM
Today there has been an official announcement from the Oman Cricket Association. They have expressed their willingness to co-host the ICC T20 World Cup. OCA want the matches to be played in Al Amerat ground, Muscat. If approved, this will be the first time that Oman is hosting a global ICC championship. ICC is going to take the decision only on 28th June, so it is going to be a 4 weeks wait for everyone. Today also India reported close to 3,400 deaths from COVID, and there is hardly any improvement.
953  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ohio offering lottery prize worth one million for those that get the COVID shot on: June 04, 2021, 06:49:46 PM
I understand that in terms of the state budget or in relation to the total cost of vaccination, this is an insignificant amount, but in natural numbers it is still significant and despite the planned savings in vaccines, this method of luring the population to vaccination seems immoral and unacceptable to me.

As mentioned by other users, the state government is only providing college scholarships and not cash prizes. So it will be wrong to say that the money is being misspent. Even during normal times, scholarships are given, and this time they are just rebranding it as a lottery. I don't see anything condemnable in this. There is no fund diversion, and no coercion is being used. And many of the other states (including Democrat ruled ones) have started similar schemes for those who are willing to get a dose of the vaccine.
954  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can BTC become the world central currency? on: June 04, 2021, 06:24:52 PM
World central currency? Nah, I don't think so. I give no chance for a government to condone this. They wouldn't like to use a volatile currency. And some governments (like China) think that it could be the end of us if we make Bitcoin as the world central currency. Their reason is that Bitcoin has a limited max supply.

Limited supply is not the issue for the governments and central banks. The real issue here is decentralization. The governments don't like a currency which they can't control. They want a centralized currency, which can be manipulated and controlled. So unless the political system changes in a big way, I don't think that there is a great chance of Bitcoin being accepted on a global scale by the governments. Anyway, Bitcoin doesn't need the governmental support. It is designed in such a way.
955  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto is our last hope for financial independence - John McAfee on: June 04, 2021, 05:39:12 PM
In many countries of the world there is an illegal opportunity to access social networks even while in prison. Therefore, I do not exclude the possibility that John McAfee still has the opportunity to write on social networks. However, it is possible that someone does this for him at his request, so that they do not forget about him. For this, general correct expressions are used in relation to cryptocurrency, which will interest participants in this market. This indicates that McAfee is still going to return to the world of cryptocurrency.

Prisoners in the United States are prohibited from accessing the internet, although they may have digital access. They can't contact the outside world using internet, using email or social media. For a limited period of time, tablets or laptops may be available for their use, but these devices won't be having internet. And I don't understand how you can say that McAfee is going to "return" to the world of cryptocurrency. The charges against him are quite serious and I don't think that he'll be freed anytime soon.
956  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid virus 2021 on: June 04, 2021, 05:25:29 PM
It's really sad to see the current economy, it's getting squeezed day by day due to the pandemic that has hit the world for more than a year, some people can't stand it anymore to carry out an endless lockdown, we can only hope that everything will return to normal as before the covid-19 pandemic.

Situation should get better by the end of this year. Vaccine manufacturers are saying that there will be enough vaccines to inoculate a majority of the world's population by then. But there are a few risk factors. First of all, the vaccines are not 100% effective. The efficacy ranges from 50% for Sinovac vaccine, to 95% for the Pfizer vaccine. Then there is a large section of the population, who are opposed to vaccination. And finally, the vaccines are not effective against some of the mutant strains of the virus.
957  Economy / Economics / Re: Tesla Bought 1.5 B in Bitcoins on: June 04, 2021, 05:06:12 PM
If he bought the dip that he caused, that would be manipulation.  First, I don't believe he's as influential with Bitcoin's price as everyone makes him out to be (and if he is, that's a far larger problem that everyone is such a sheep), and second, if he was actually trying to manipulate the market (which I don't believe he is) it would be more problematic for him to act on it than just to manipulate it because he's an egomaniac.

If he is egomaniac, then there is zero chance of him purchasing an asset which he so strongly against. But we need to analyze how much of the recent crash was caused as a result of Elon's tweet. There were other factors as well, such as the government action in China, mining ban in Iran, US government investigation against Binance.etc. Frequently Elon get the credit for things on which he has no real connection. The correction was perhaps triggered by his tweets, but if the other factors were not there, then the prices would have easily gone back to $50K by now.
958  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid-19 effect on your country's economy!!! on: June 04, 2021, 04:54:42 PM
Now it's more than a year already, time really passes by quickly. The impact on my country's economics is really severe, many people are being fired, and most of them still haven't able to find a new job. The demand is super low too for things, like it hasn't be back to normal again. It's hard for small business to survive, even big companies have their hard time as well. Government tried to help, of course. But most of the help are being corrupted, or not getting into the right hand, such a pity indeed but what can we do? I just hope everything will soon be better.

Things are quite straight forward. In countries where the majority of the population has been vaccinated, the economy has restarted. People are not required to wear masks or follow social distancing and the businesses are open. However, the poorer countries are struggling to vaccinate their population. This is like a double whammy. They were already poor, and now they will become even poorer because of the lockdown restrictions. On the other hand, the richer countries have managed to vaccinate most of the population and restart the economic activity.
959  Economy / Economics / Re: Biden Goes After Crypto Tax Evaders with Global Data Sharing Initiative on: June 04, 2021, 04:42:40 PM
They can do it because they are a powerful country, even the small countries that are their allies might be strict in implementing crypto taxes. I'm living in a poor country where crypto taxes are not yet strictly implemented, now, I'm afraid that soon the regulators will be strict and I have to pay taxes up to the single centavo I earned online. I'm not complaining as I know this time will come, but I'm just hoping we can delay the inevitable.

In order to pay your taxes, first of all cryptocurrency should be legal in your country. This is one of the dilemma faced by users in countries such as India. The law states that if you are profiting from anything that is legal or illegal, you should pay the taxes. So even if you are doing something illegal and profiting out of it, you need to pay the taxes. And here it gets murky. In the tax return, you need to mention the source of your money. And how many people are willing to state that they did something illegal (i.e cryptocurrency trading) and profited out of it?
960  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: June 04, 2021, 04:29:54 PM
There is a suggestion by many that the WTC finals should be played in a three Test match format and hopefully we will see that in the future.

How can a final consist of 3 matches? And in case of test tournament, that would mean that the final will be played out over a duration of one and half months. It will be just like any other bilateral series and there won't be any excitement. It doesn't make any sense. Let it be limited to one match. If not, there will be new requests to change the format of the ODI World Cup final as well. I would suggest adding one reserve day for the test championship final. But having a three match final is not a good option, IMO.
