981  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: May 23, 2014, 03:03:47 AM
Does anyone think DRK can surpass bitcoin to be worth the most? I mean is 1000$ a coin unrealistic?
I think it can happen yes. Darkcoin is painfully exposing the limitations of other coins. People will realise that innovation > adoption. After Napster came Kazaa, then came AudioGalaxy, then some others, then came BitTorrent etc. We are the Kazaa of crypto. Bitcoin will be dead before you know it.

If bitcoin dies, we all die. VC money is flowing into Bitcoin, not darkcoin. Bitcoin doesn't need to have all the fancy features, it has the most developers, the most money flowing into it. It's the cryptocurrency gold reserve. So in a world where bitcoin is worth 10 000$ , Darkcoin can definitely be worth 1000$+.

FYI: Most Venture Capital firms have by-laws that forbid them from investing directly in Bitcoin, hence numerous Bitcoin startups are being pushed to market these days (probably too fast then they're ready for) so millions of dollars can be thrown their way which will allow these VC's to say 'they have a piece of the Bitcoin pie'.
Darkcoin right now obviously has no other startups behind it since it is still incredibly young (and is still the mastermind of one person).
Give it time, though, and the smart VC's will start throwing money at Darkcoin-related firms pushing Darkcoin-using products.

I've been meaning to say I like your username.  His book (Reminiscences of a Stock Operator) was the first investing book I ever read.  I've been enjoying your comments in the thread as well.  Thank you.

As I informed the irc group, we're buying to 0.03 minimum, theres hardly any sells left

I saw in IRC some precious metals site started accepting DRK. Very cool in my opinion.
Link please.

By the way, even with a $5,000 bounty out there, nobody was able to do it.

What Evan is doing is very very hard.  VERY FEW people can do it.

As I've always said, you invest in the dev, not the coin.  And Evan is top tier.

OK I don't want to get into mud slinging. I just thought it was a bad idea. What's the other business you've invested in?
We're not divulging what the business is until it goes live, sorry.

I think it's safe to say now nobody knows how far darkcoin can go. This is something the crypto world has never seen before. I can reminisce about how many people were telling me to sell at $1, $2, $3, etc. I'm so happy I can think for myself.  Cool
My group of investors has a target of a one billion dollar + market cap.  But even then, our plan is not to sell.  We're creating a business around DRK (a legal one).

Is this what you're talking about? If so, I don't like it.

BOUNTY

I will pay 10 BTC and 5000 DRM to any developer (including the OP) who successfully integrates ring signatures into DRM.  It must be committed to Github and on a testnet so we can test it by May 25nd.  If by May 27th it is on mainnet, you get the 10 BTC.  If you miss the deadline but successfully implement them by June 10th, I'll provide 2 BTC.  You must accept the challenge by 10pm pacific on May 19th and update us with your progress no less than once every 18 hours.  Failure to do so nullifies this offer.

I will pay an additional 10 BTC and 2000 DRM to any developer who integrates DarkSend Anonymous technology into DRM within 5 days of DarkCoin open sourcing it as long as the first bounty above was claimed.  If ring signatures were not successfully implemented then this offer is null and void.

If DRM has ring signatures (BEFORE Darkcoin) and Darksend not long after, it will be an excellent competitor, especially as POS.

If these two technologies are successfully implemented, I will happily fund additional bounties to make DRM a top tier coin.

Hahah.  You missed what I said later in that thread when I explained WHY:

I'll be completely transparent about what I am doing.

1.  I am a large holder of DRK.  It is one of my primary investments.  In V2 of Darksend, the DRK developer plans to implement ring signatures.  Putting a large bounty on the implementation of ring signatures into DRM helps me better gauge my DRK investment.

2.  Putting a bounty on the copying of Darksend once it is open sourced helps me better gauge my DRK investment.

3.  I hold a little over 50,000 DRM.  If someone takes me up on my challenge and is successful, I'll make a decent return in time and have a nice hedge to my DRK investment.  But truthfully, this is about DRK.  I am happy to continue supporting DRM with additional bounties if the initial two are successful because it will continue to help me evaluate my DRK investment.

4.  I have placed the initial 10btc in a private bounty address.  You can see the transaction ID here: Transaction ID: ed6e45cf443527cf8ed8f5852594b183f8419a3b45999244745bcdddff0a81d8 -- I am not going to put it in escrow though.  I have been on bitcointalk.com for a LONG time and am a trusted entity.  If a developer isn't comfortable with that, they shouldn't take me up on my offer.

I figured you guys could use the help.  Things weren't looking very hot for you guys and if someone successfully implements these technologies, you should profit nicely.  And hopefully this results in a highly competent dev becoming passionate and taking over DRM.

OT but wow, Doge falling like a rock now...
I dumped the last of my Doge after the nascar race.  When we didn't see any sort of pop from that, I figured it would be a gradual decline from there.

Hopefully they prove me wrong as it's a great community of people.

I'm down to DRK and BTC as my crypto holdings.

My deadline wasn't met unfortunately.

Good luck to you guys.

That's generous of you to offer it in the 1st place.  One question though. Are you still a Dreamer?
Yeah, I didn't feel the need to sell.  I don't anticipate being active in the thread though.

My suggestion to you guys would be to simply move a coin with strong fundamentals like Darkcoin.  But to each their own.

I wish you all the best.

Boy, someone REALLY doesn't want a new high on the day yet.  I just threw a LOT of BTC at 140 and they all got soaked up.

You should wait 20 hours more  Cool
Oh, I've been buying for months now.  I'm not interested in timing DRK short term as it won't matter in the medium to long term.

But thank you.

Please don't take this the wrong way guys, but I hope we hit 110 so we can see if that guy is willing to buy that many DRK or not.  Smiley

i mean no offence to you but if you go round on bitcoin talk you will see users with more reputation than you have turned out to be scammers, so activity does not mean anything. you can always use btcrow or very well trusted members like tomatocage and vod
I understand your concern but I have also been around since 2011 so it's more than just my reputation.

You can verify the 10btc is there but if a dev isn't comfortable with all of this, then they shouldn't take me up on my offer.

you do know that new coins will try to be anonymous now, once the extension is open source, everyone will just create a coin for anonymity so i don't see why you would pay to have dreamcoin developed. its not like it is the extension can only work with dreamcoin. probably be alot faster you paying a for a new coin.

good luck but i think this will just be a pump and dump because you have offered a bounty to do this.
I'm not very worried about copy coins at the moment.  I have some unanswered questions that what I am doing will answer.  And hopefully DRM holders profit and end up with a better coin as a result.  It's that simple.

999  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LIBERTYCOIN][XLB] X11 | 100% POS | No IPO | No Premine | Now on Mintpal on: May 18, 2014, 11:20:35 AM
As I type this, the market cap of Libertycoin and Dreamcoin are:

Libertycoin: $630,150

Dreamcoin:  $60,972

As you may or may not know, XLB and DRM were launched near the same time as each other and are both X11 POS.  However, you guys here at XLB have done AMAZING and we at DRM have enjoyed our fancy new bags.

I think that is going to change and wanted to see if any of you wanted to make a bet Smiley

I will bet 2 BTC that DRM's market cap will be HIGHER than XLB's at 10pm pacific time on May 20th.

Anyone wanna take the bet?  Smiley  You must have 100 or more posts here to accept the bet.  If you want to escrow it somehow, I'm fine with that.

I'll put another 2 BTC bet on the above, and I don't care how many posts/feedback you have, we will use escrow to protect each other. Anyone? lets do it.
Are you betting with or against me?  I couldn't quite tell, sorry.

Great.  Bet accepted.  Good luck Smiley
