... can inject JavaScript into the wallet

...

This "resolution" ignores that the bug can be used to cause a persistent compromise.
On the contrary, because of the Content Security Policy, you cannot inject JavaScript on most browsers, greatly reducing the attack surface. Unfortunately, you can inject styling and html, which if you've ever seen Reddit or one of those CSS demonstration sites you would know that it can still change enough of the page to convince the user to do something bad. But again, that wouldn't be automatic. Still an issue, but not as bad as you make it out to be. They should really disable inline styling after they fix this.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Patrick Murck plays softball with AMA on Reddit not fully addressing KnC issue! on: November 06, 2014, 06:48:02 AM
You know what else he didn't post in his replies? His birth certificate! I'm starting to notice a pattern, guys!
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [HELP] my coinbase bitcoins have disappeared, has anyone had this or can help me on: November 04, 2014, 02:24:35 AM
I signed in to my coinbase account today to find that I had no bitcoins in my wallet (I should have just over 0.5BTC). Also all of my transaction logs and btc address have disappeared.

Are you sure that you logged into the correct account? Sometimes people make more than one account and log into the one that doesn't have anything. If that's what happened, Coinbase might be able to help you figure out what account you used.
4  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase.com and Blockchain.info Bitcoin Wallet Phishing Scam Exposed on: November 04, 2014, 02:14:23 AM
Good on 'ya for immediately bringing this to the attention of those services. When it comes to this kind of issue, time is of the essence. Everyone did a great job of handling this!
5  Other / Meta / Re: MagicalTux & DefaultTrust [ Why ?] on: September 30, 2014, 01:45:18 AM
I ended up removing him from my list, but until he leaves feedback that someone disputes, it doesn't really matter.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Missing BTC on: September 03, 2014, 02:38:15 AM
You are most likely infected with coin-stealing malware. If you're using Google Chrome, remove any bitcoin-related extensions that you may have installed. You should also do a virus scan with a good virus scanner like Malwarebytes:

Bleh, there are so many posts. I think that will do for now to make a point.

Look, this is a waste of time for both of us. Buy my coins, 70k / 7BTC and i will not post FACTS on the thread anymore. I'll be gone from SHC thread forever.

Will also replace first page posts with whatever you want.

If you erase every single post you've ever posted on the thread.

Thats will have a negative impact on my bitcointalk member status and my reputation. Will also take decent amount of time to list through them all.

Will do it. 70k coins - 9BTC

You must have thought I was serious.  Go ahead and attempt to cause more chaos.  It seems to be what your desires are I don't know why a few bitcoin would prevent you from wanting to do that.

My desire is to get out of shc with profit. My only grudge against you is for not promoting/pumping the coin. If the deal is made i will not post under my or any other account on SHC thread.

Deleted messages cant be reversed, as they stand now, its very unlikely the thread attracts new miners/investors.

You have a very confusing way of attempting to make a profit.  For future reference, extortion is not a good way.  Keep spending your effort wisely.

Not an extortion, there were no IFs as in - IF you dont buy, I will spam the thread.. IF you dont buy, I will show you for what you really are, a scammer, If  you dont buy I'll update messages on the first page with the newest shill/scam incidents.

I've moved 70k coins to coin-swap. Will put up a sell order as soon as they clear. If not bought within 1 hour i'll take it you did not take on the offer.

I wont be making the same offer again.

My PM history with Primer.  Interesting he calls me a scammer.
Verified. I'll remove all of his posts in this thread.
9  Other / Meta / Re: It Is Not Against Forum Rules For Users To Post Your Personal Information Here! on: July 15, 2014, 01:22:14 AM
I've been thinking that maybe it would be an improvement to require that dox be posted along with sources for all of the data, and ban dox that doesn't come from a "public source" (government site, news story, Facebook, etc.). This would make casual doxxing more difficult, help readers determine whether the dox is actually accurate, and hamper distribution of info obtained from illegal sources (hacking, etc.). I'm not sure that it would help enough to be worth the trouble, though.
The problem is that it means that people can't post things like shipping info and unpublished email addresses attached to PayPal accounts used in a scam. Ultimately, it comes down to whether or not it's more important to protect innocents vs denying scammers from reusing an identity.
10  Other / Meta / Re: It Is Not Against Forum Rules For Users To Post Your Personal Information Here! on: July 15, 2014, 12:45:41 AM
I think that we all need to petition Theymos for identity protection except for proven scam accusatioins here on this forum.
That is the problem. There is no way that the forum could verify every scam accusation, nor should it have to now that there are more appropriate services available for this. Since we can't make exceptions to allow for people to post the personal information of scammers, we have two choices:

1) Remove all posted personal information, like Reddit.
2) Allow everyone to post personal information about anybody.

Bitcoin attracts a lot of scammers, so I would tend to err on safer side of allowing all personal information. Not to mention, if it wasn't posted here, it would just be posted somewhere else. Public information cannot be made unpublic.

i thought those kind of things were not allowed anymore
They aren't. This is an old thread from before the rule was put into place that was missed.

2.5 months for me, though that was at a time new mods were badly needed, a few of the global mods had been on hiatus for a while and never returned.
Damn, you beat me by half of a month! 3 months here.

14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Martingale System on: June 23, 2014, 06:30:06 AM
Martin gale will work on small ammounts on a big balance. Just quit whilst you're ahead and don't get greedy.

If the very first bet fails, and you keep doubling down as per the system you could very well lose your betting cap and not have made a single satoshi.

If you're going to gamble, just place the damn bets independently and enjoy it responsibly.  Don't try to out-hink a system which is stacked against you.
Exactly. Whenever I tell people how much I'm up from dice games, they seem to think that it's impossible that I did that without using some kind of "system". All I did was bet what I was comfortable with at whatever odds I felt like playing at.

Want to know the secret about gambling? Variance is important, as it is the only way you can win against the house edge. The easiest way to have high variance is to only play a few times and then stop completely.
15  Economy / Gambling / Re: Double your BTC in 1 Hour on: June 22, 2014, 10:23:31 PM
Based on other forums (games, software, game codes) it is believed this person's account was hacked thus why this person is trolling. It should be reported to the mods for immediate banning.

http://www.steamgifts.com/forum/2UcYR/reav3r-is-a-scammer
I don't think so. He's just trying to prove to everyone how useless the trust system is by gaining as much seemingly-unfounded negative trust as possible.
16  Other / Meta / Re: Possible use for forum funds? on: June 22, 2014, 10:06:22 PM
Fair enough. It would be useful for an organization like the forum to have a large amount of emergency funds for the purpose of protocol emergencies. If a single mining pool asserts total control over the blockchain and starts rejecting non-pool blocks, the forum could guarantee payment of about 200 blocks for competing miners. That's probably smart.
17  Other / Meta / Re: Don't you think payment proofs for HYIPs should be banned? on: June 22, 2014, 09:43:24 PM
Yeah, that is just spam. If it's in response to someone, contains other content (see the ones that I left), or is a compilation of at least several days worth of payments, it would be fine. Posting every time you withdraw every hour so that you can bump the post is NOT okay.
18  Other / Meta / Re: Possible use for forum funds? on: June 22, 2014, 02:33:18 AM
Why not both? Hire forrestv full-time to work on P2Pool and spin up another group (maybe headed by Luke-jr?) to improve GBT. Bitcointalk is making about $5k in profits per week (based on some back-of-my-hand estimates on undisclosed expenses such as the sysadmin that was hired along with the known expenses such as mods), which gives plenty of room to work with without even touching what has been stored up. Bitcointalk could currently sustain two full-time devs at $120k/year.

I don't want to eat into the reserves too much, especially with the forum software project unfinished. (The forum currently runs at a monthly deficit of ~90 BTC due to the software project.)
What else do you plan on using the reserves for after the new forum is done? If you plan to keep Slickage working for bitcointalk indefinitely, I'm totally fine with that as an answer to that question, since those guys do some pretty good work. Otherwise, it's kinda silly for a forum to have several million dollars in reserve.
