Do you have any proof that you are you right now?

Can you check the IP's that this account has been posting from?
I'd have to put in a request for that, so I'd rather not if I don't have to.
483  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whitelist Requests (Want out of here?) on: May 27, 2013, 01:45:51 AM
knock knock, still can't post.
Sure about that?  Wink

it was the case when I posted that, yes.
That's fine. I was just giving you crap. It takes up to ten minutes for the upgrade to happen automatically.

if I erase all my posts will it lock me up again?
If you drop below 5 posts, yes.

Please sir, I have done my time sir.  May I be released sir?
Sorry, you don't meet the requirements for preemptive whitelisting. It looks like if you browse around for 33 more minutes you will be released automatically, though.

If you pay even once, you have to accept that you pay every month.
Don't you wish! You will have to pay them every time they run out of money for blow.

I think a long time ago when MtGox was younger they said that someone was DDoSing them but would stop for a $10k ransom. Or maybe that was some other site. Point is, this is extremely common. In fact, it's one of the best ways for botnet operators to monetize their botnets.

I've heard of botnets mining LTC but never blackmailing websites... I was under the impression that that was the newest trend.
No, they've been doing this for many years. You just don't hear about it much since nobody wants to draw attention to these terrorists.

Vouches are far more likely to be whitelisted, so most staff would be happy to take the request. However, only a handful of staff actually check the whitelist thread, so vouches are better sent to a staff member directly. First, check if one of the global mods are online. If not, try one of the many staff, giving preference to the specific newbie forum mods (currently psy, SomeoneWeird, MiningBuddy, and tysat).

I don't recommend doing that for general whitelist requests (although John will take those directly, too), but for vouches it should be fine.
491  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BEWARE OF SCAM PEOPLE,DO NOT!!! SENT FIRST THIS IDIOTS! on: May 26, 2013, 07:44:37 AM
question regarding reputation threads, can't the person that started the thread delete posts from it anyway? I know they can't fake the good feedback but they could just delete the negative stuff?
That's why you completely ignore it if it's self-moderated. Also, you should start using the trust system.
492  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GLDCoin Diff jumps from 1.7 to 7.4.. value going up now! on: May 26, 2013, 07:42:21 AM
Won't go up while idiots keep selling it so low
They aren't idiots. They're the smart ones.

I'm telling you, the people who invest in these alt-coins-of-the-week are crazy.
493  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GLDCoin Diff jumps from 1.7 to 7.4.. value going up now! on: May 26, 2013, 07:39:38 AM
Difficulty follows price. If anything, this might cause people to lose interest, causing the price to come crashing down.
494  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BEWARE OF SCAM PEOPLE,DO NOT!!! SENT FIRST THIS IDIOTS! on: May 26, 2013, 07:35:22 AM
Its a scam anyways, he scammed you out of the 100 odd pxc... that was his objective. Not the entire amount.
But he was sure hoping that he could convince mladen81 to send the whole amount Tongue

But seriously, breaking apart transactions is NOT a valid scam prevention mechanism. Only use it to prevent mistakes that aren't related to reputation, such as someone giving you the wrong address or the amount getting stolen by a hacker immediately upon receipt.
495  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crysis3+Farcry+Bioshock(Infinite) Keys for sale on: May 26, 2013, 06:44:39 AM
Please stop flooding the alt coin section with these. They belong in the marketplace section
Not if they aren't being sold for bitcoin.
496  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: TradeFortress VERY untrustworthy, owes me 10.15 BTC, possibly others. on: May 25, 2013, 06:59:11 AM
Why would someone purposefully spend over $1k to defame TradeFortress? This is absolutely stupid, and webr3 should be ashamed.

Ripple should maybe make it more clear that trust means that you are basically giving someone that much money, though.
497  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: thought it was four posts...but maybe it really is four new topics!!! on: May 25, 2013, 05:12:37 AM
It's five posts (they don't have to be topics) and 4 hours logged in.
498  Other / Meta / Re: [security] Did bitcointalk.org just change CAs to GeoTrust Global CA? on: May 25, 2013, 05:10:41 AM
Not to nitpick, theymos, but your PGP-signed message isn't specific enough. If this forum were compromised, that message could have been taken from you years ago.
499  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [TO THEYMOS AND MODS] BFL scammer tag? on: May 25, 2013, 05:02:23 AM
It is hard to make hardware. As long as some progress is being made, there is no reason to give them a scammer tag.

He is banned pending evidence that he has reclaimed his account (assuming it was hacked).
