442  Other / Meta / Re: What is the bitcoin address on my profile page for? on: June 04, 2013, 02:45:19 AM
Maybe to help automated tipping systems? I'm not entirely sure...

Moving to Meta.

I can't remember which one but I specifically remember there was a Mod (Maged??) that openly protested the creation of this forum and wanted to simply shitcan all alt post.
To clarify, I didn't protest the creation of this board, but I did say that if this board wasn't made, that trashing the posts was the only alternative. But yeah, this board was made as an alternative to trashing these posts.

On the plus side, deleting posts in here is a huge stress reliever.
444  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whitelist Requests (Want out of here?) on: June 03, 2013, 08:52:49 PM
hi, if possible, can I be whitelisted?

I have been using reddit in the past and have been into bitcoin for a reasonable time.

Apart from a small BTC holding, I also pre-ordered a BFL SC before the April bubble.

Hope the above helps.....
A link to your reddit account would help...

Mmm... Doesn't look like you qualify for preemptive whitelisting, sorry.  Sad

446  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Help! Liberty Payout stole money on: June 03, 2013, 08:44:49 PM
Why are you protecting Liberty Payout so much?
Because someone has to. However, I have formally contacted Liberty Payout to begin a formal scammer investigation. The truth will come out within the next few days, one way or another.

448  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer : Liberty Payout on: June 03, 2013, 06:50:23 AM
It's possible that he is only addressing disputes where the scammed victim makes an accusations thread.
Indeed, but then we would have seen many more accusation threads since he does quite a bit of volume. So I doubt that that is the case.
449  Bitcoin / Important Announcements / Tangible Cryptography suspends Bitcoin related transactions on: June 03, 2013, 06:37:37 AM
In light of the ongoing legal attacks against Bitcoin from the US government, I figured I would bring this to everyone's attention:
Effective the May 31st, 2013 Tangible Cryptography has suspended new purchases of Bitcoins through our service FastCash4Bitcoins.  We take this step in response to a notice received on the same day from the Commonwealth of Virginia that a complaint has been made that our company is operating as an unlicensed money transmitter.

The Virginia Corporation Commission did an initial investigation in response to the complaint, and determined that our activity may constitute money transmission under Virginia law. The Commission's initial assessment has factual errors which we intend to address.  The notice indicated that it appears that our company is issuing Bitcoins through the use of the website https://fastcash4bitcoins.com , which may constitute "sale of issuance of stored value" under Virginia law.

As our clients are well aware this is simply an incorrect assessment of our business activity. The site is used to facilitate the purchase of Bitcoins from clients.  Tangible Cryptography is acting as a buyers not issuer of virtual currency.  Furthermore there is no obligation for redemption, or holding of customer funds, as would occur in a stored value system.  The view that buying, selling, or even issuing new Bitcoins would be seen as stored value is at odds with the guidance from FinCEN earlier this year, that exchangers (and issuers) of virtual currency are not issuers of prepaid access (stored value).

The company has been given thirty days to provide written explanation on why our activity is exempt from licensing under current law. The commission has formally stated that unless exempt from licensing we must stop further activity until such time as we apply for and obtain a Money Transmitter license.  The prudent action is for the company to suspend all new transactions while we respond to the Commission's notice

We want to reassure our valued clients that all completed transactions have been paid.  At this time there has been no freeze, hold, or closure of our payment accounts.  We are one of the few Bitcoin related enterprises which can definitively say that to date, no client has lost funds as a result of theft, hacking, or fraud through fault or negligence by Tangible Cryptography or the services it provides.  The future and direction of Tangible Cryptography will depend on the outcome of our response to the Virginia Corporation Commission.  While we hope for a timely resolution we recommend our existing clients make alternative arrangements as it is difficult to provide an estimate on how long such a resolution may take.

Which he has under this new name of LP.
I stopped reading here. Do your research, Viceroy. You have no idea what you are talking about.

I don't think you should stop reading on my account.  I sat here and watched two people accused of scamming removing threads.  why are you attacking me, I have nothing to do with any of this.  I am simply pointing out that the accused is acting the same as another with his self moderated threads.  allowing/encouraging these accused scammers to act this way is ....  what?
First off, Liberty Payout's account is not new. In fact, the account has been around for about 1 year. Liberty Payout uses self-moderated threads because people like you kept calling him a scammer, despite the fact that until recently there hasn't been a single unresolved issue. Hell, if I were him I would probably scam at this point because that is far easier and would bring in more money since it's hard for him to show that he's legit. So forgive me for sticking with the system that is "f'd" when your system is clearly so much better with its high false-positive rate. We know what we're doing.

You're starting to sound like Micon.
451  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer : Liberty Payout on: June 03, 2013, 06:16:16 AM
Oh, NOW he looks into it.
* Viceroy turns and walks away from the mage with the broken wand
As far as I can see, there are only two open accusations against Liberty Payout, both of which are fairly recent. Not to mention, Liberty Payout has a record of resolving problems that come up. This isn't as big as you are making it out to be.
452  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: README replies on: June 03, 2013, 06:13:26 AM
I found it interesting that dacoinminster advised not to trust the exchanges or wallet services (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=33835.0). The guide appears to have been written in 2011- is it safe to say that things have progressed to the point where one could trust, to a reasonable degree, the major exchanges such as Mt. Gox, and pooled mining in general?
No. In fact, I would argue that things have progressed such that you should trust them less, because government regulation is now getting in the mix. You now need to worry that your funds could be seized by a government at any given moment, independent of the trust you have for the exchange, etc.
I just felt that such a degree of distrust seems behind the times...
No, it will be true for a very long time.

Good points, I hadn't looked at it that way. If I understand it properly, we have progressed from the intrinsic lack of trust present in a developing system to the larger systemic risk that results from recognition and potential governmental interference, meaning that the guide is correct, albeit for somewhat different reasons.
Sounds about right.

Admins is there ANY way to get SaudiBull/Liberty/Known Scammer to stop trolling people's threads with FUD?
No, because there is no evidence that Liberty Payout is the scammer you think he is. Stop jumping to conclusions. I could make the exact same post about you:

Admins is there ANY way to get SaudiBull/Viceroy/Known Scammer to stop trolling people's threads with FUD?
458  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [EDU] How to leave negative feedback (Read this after you've been scammed!) on: June 03, 2013, 03:54:43 AM
Did you know you are on default list? So basically all people will see my feedback not yours? You are abusing the system because you know the admin is trusting you?
No, enlighten me, what is this default list?
I'm not abusing the system, I'm just using it.

Here you are on https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust . So basically all members are trusting you and all will see my feedback and not your feedback.  This is fair system right?
I had theymos remove Birdy from his trust list so that he no longer branches off of DefaultTrust. Thanks!

Basically, people who branch off of someone who branches off of DefaultTrust need to be much more conservative with their ratings than other people because of the fact that the feedback is trusted by default. This usually means that if you weren't involved in a scam, you must have solid proof that a scam took place before leaving feedback. If you don't branch off of someone who branches off of DefaultTrust, you are free to use the system however you want and convince people to trust you.
