1  Economy / Economics / Re: Is renting an inevitable waste of money? on: Today at 11:43:00 AM
If you're going to do it until your retirement then yes it's a waste of your money and time, not to mention that the only person that will benefit in that set up is only the landlord. That's why it's okay to at least start renting a smaller house rather than an extravagant one because that way, you have a roof over your head but at the same time, you will also have the money to be able to save up for when you want to buy a house or finance a house through a housing loan.
2  Economy / Economics / Re: Work From Home or The "Laptop Class" is Immoral or Not? on: Today at 11:00:31 AM
How is it immoral? You can wake up at 8:30 and then put on your work clothes (just the top) and then hop in to your Zoom meeting and have all of the tasks delegated to you be done, without the hassle of waking up really early and going for a commute, that's the best kind of thing for a working man, the ability to have all the extra time spent on commute get used for more productive things like time for yourself and increased hours of sleep, the only immoral thing about all of this is the way that Elon talked down on the benefits of working from home, you don't do that if you know that it's beneficial to your workers, you don't tell others that it's bad to be working from home.
3  Economy / Economics / Re: Country and nation culture is the economic strenght of nation on: Today at 09:47:29 AM
Not exactly the strength of the nation but I believe that culture and history plays a part in reminding people what we could've done better in the same situation and that we should be seeing some kind of changes or improvement to the things in the past that was done right. It's a source of pride and if that pride can make someone aim to be a better citizen of that country then it can be argued that culture really is a source of economic strength.
4  Other / Meta / Re: Is this forum getting worse and worse? on: Today at 08:01:01 AM
Probably the lack of people reading crypto news and stories that really matters is the big problem, most of the people that post topics that don't matter are usually newbies that doesn't really know any better and that they're just trying to get in. I guess it's a matter of us doing what needs to be done so we can keep the fresh content coming in, it's a really good thing that this thing has been pointed out, it's making sure that people are aware and hopefully, they will add some more substance to the discussion. Another thing that I'd like to point out is that the more the forum is introduced to more people then the more likely it is that we will get more shitposters but that's not a sure thing to happen.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: End Goal or Keep HODLing? on: Today at 06:59:50 AM
That's because those people are either talking shit and they won't hold out their promise of not selling until they die and that all of it is just a stunt to get themselves some attention or that they have a really ambitious price that they want to sell their bitcoins, that's the only two reasons why you hear people like that say those stuff. I think everyone here has an end goal when it comes to bitcoin investing, I'm sure that everyone of us has a desire to spend some of those hard earned investment into something that would make us happy, I don't think that there's no person out there that's devoid of such emotion and that they will never ever have any kind of want that can be supplemented by their bitcoin profits.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: All in my head.. on: Today at 06:26:43 AM
I don't know about Greyscale but I'm sure that BlackRock has lobbyists working for them to deal with those lawmakers that are trying to go for things that are out of the interest of BlackRock, BlackRock if I recall correctly is a big investment corporation and they're in all kinds of investments out there so I'm sure that they're going to be using some kind of way to make it easy for them to be doing their things, like acquiring swaths of land for redevelopment purposes and so they can make money out of it through real estate. BlackRock is a powerful company, in fact, any big company that involves money most of the time is a guarantee that they have their hands on politics because that's where you can bend the law to your will is. If you were in their position, you will do everything that you need to do to secure as much money and influence after all.
7  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: How Oklahoma state authorities are protecting crypto investors on: Today at 05:32:53 AM
As Freddie Mercury asked -

Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?

It seems too Good to be true! Honestly I don't really believe my eyes. Seems like Oklahoma will soon become popular amongst the crypto crowd. They have taken a very different approach despite the enforcement agencies in US is constantly going after the crypto community.
Love the Queen reference and I do get your sentiment that it's too good to be true but in this case, the only thing that we can probably do is to trust the process and make sure that we quickly adapt to whatever is to come, I mean that's what we can only do in this kind of time anyway, there's no other way around it unless of course we can rouse a lot of people to repeal this bill because that's the only that this bill can go away. I hope that what you're saying is true though, about Oklahoma becoming a good place to go for the crypto community.
8  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Turkey Prepares New Crypto Law to Align With International Standards on: Today at 03:27:07 AM
There are still a few decent non-KYC CEXes. Sooner or later the governments will ruin those decent exchanges by forcing them require KYC, but until then it probably makes sense to use them at least in some cases.
A pretty good time to be starting point for establishing informal ways that you can do P2P transactions, that way you don't have to be so worried about your crypto being stuck as a cryptocurrency and that you can still benefit from profiting from it. Hopefully this kind of thing won't happen fast as even if it's inevitable, you can still get the most out of it. When this kind of thing happens, I just mostly think to myself that if worst thing happened and I have to comply with the KYC, I just hope that I wouldn't be targeted and that I'm not really doing anything illegal at all so I can argue that in a KYC exchange, nothing suspicious will arise out of my account.
9  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Some thoughts on ETH ETFs and ETFs of other coins and SEC on: Today at 02:37:20 AM
This entire "Security or commodity" battle looks to not be ending anytime soon. I am indifferent to the position the SEC reaches on ETH and all tokens under it, but this decision is sure to have a wave like effect on other coins and blockchains which are set up exactly the way ETH is.

Maybe we can do a poll at some point to know the percentage of the crypto community genuinely bothered about ETF rulings and if a coin is a security or not.
It will probably last for about 10 years and then they will decide that it's not a commodity, that's what I'm sure of, SEC wants to be on the advantage with this one so I'm not sure that they're trying to do this kind of stuff. I don't get why they consider ETH as a commodity though, by definition it should be valuable and don't they see ETH and other cryptocurrency as valueless thing because the only backing it has is the people that believes that there's a value to it? So why consider it as a commodity now? Something changed within SEC? Or this can be a possible red carpet preparation for the ETH ETF in the future?
10  Economy / Economics / Re: The End of Credit/Debit Cards on: May 25, 2024, 01:17:37 PM
I think what you are really saying is the physical card will be obsolete.  Well, that might be the case in the near future since most banks and e-wallets are transitioning to QR code.  By having only QR code which is in your phone, it is more convenient for the consumer and no need to hold or get a physical card for transaction.
It will not become obsolete really fast, I'm pretty sure that plastic cards usage and utility won't ever be gone for a really long time, and there's going to be a lot of people that will never see the point of using cryptocurrency for their daily transaction, I'm sure that some people would still find credit cards and debit cards as a more convenient way to do transaction, the end that you guys are saying isn't something that will happen in 10 years or 20 years, it's definitely going to end in 50 years time or higher but by that time, we're also probably not using any cryptocurrency or bitcoin for transaction, we would probably have another way to do things. Also, it's going to be a difficult thing for these era of credit and debit cards to ever end because they're a simple concept and the banks and financial institutions are benefiting a lot from these cards that they're going to do whatever it takes to prolong it's utility and need.
11  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why Lotto Winner Takes Time To Claim Their Rewards, What's The Point? on: May 25, 2024, 12:16:54 PM
It seems you are getting overthinking too much, the lotto outlet doesn't care at all who is the original bettor of the ticket as long as they have the winning combination they are the one who considered as the ticket winner now it's up to them if they will use those to help you if they are relatives or not let's accept the fact once they see a large amount of money and base on your statement you are in an unconscious state you cant fight back at all. I don't see any sense why you need to take so long to hold the ticket number most of the winners are excited to claim their rewards.
Exactly, just because you've won a lot of money in lottery doesn't mean that you're obligated to help out the people that are asking for some of the wins and to share to them your winnings, that's just a construct that was made by other people because they want to make sure that everyone's not envious of you and that they might attempt to steal your winnings. In my country, if you're the outlet that sold the ticket with the winning number combination, you will also get some form of reward so I don't think that they're going to care too much about the winner because they're going to get some anyway.
12  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Ethereum $25 million Theft: Two Brothers arrested on: May 25, 2024, 09:17:16 AM
It just shows that Ethereum Blockchain is not that secure if the brothers was able to steal that huge amount of money in record breaking 12 seconds? Could be the biggest and fastest in any crypto related crimes. I do hope that after this heist, Ethereum developers was able to close the loophole already and then make the integrity of the blockchain more safeguarded. And the title could be "gone in 12 seconds".  Grin
Exactly but I really want to see how they have done it, pretty sure that there's going to be an explanation as how they were able to do it, I'm not really surprised that Ethereum was easily attacked, I'm more surprised that the government about it and they diligently tracked the perpetrators, never heard of them able to move this fast. I guess there's someone in the government that's either doing their job or they're ETH investor and they're one of the many people that got hoodwinked by these two brothers.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you advise a friend in the same way? on: May 25, 2024, 08:33:32 AM
Is this the wrong advice? A friend of mine took over his father's company because he is so old already and he told me about the money thats available doing nothing in the bank.

I told him to think about investing that money if he wants to keep the company growing, I told him about how MicroStrategy is doing so well using Bitcoin as a strong backbone of the company, I believe that even a small company can turn big if they use Bitcoin as their main investment.

Or am I wrong? I need to know if this advice is a good one or a bad one, I gave him this advice because we are very close and also because I will do the same thing if I am in his shoe, this is the best thing i can think of right now.
You're dead wrong about that advice, no matter how you look at it, it's not your money and your misinformation about Microstrategy led you to give this stupid advice to your friend, they're not just focused on one facet of technology and they're mostly business intelligence thing, if that's what the company of your friend is then I've got nothing to say but it seems that's not the case so I got to tell you that in the event that the price of bitcoin drops to a whopping amount, are you ready to take the blame for advising that friend to invest that leftover money into bitcoin? What if that money was something that your friend could have used for an emergency in the company or for himself? It's too late now to think about this kind of thing, whatever worse may come (hopefully none) for you friend's bitcoin investment, hopefully you would be able to bear the consequence of the possibility of being blamed.
14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A lot of people in this section do not understand basic gambling concepts. on: May 25, 2024, 07:43:57 AM
Even for the top VIP accounts there's never a positive return to player. There's no casino that will allow any player to have more returns than losses simply by wagering. It never happens.
Exactly, there's no way that the house will let themselves take the L no matter how much they say that they love their VIP players or patrons? That's just a lie to perpetrate the belief that they care about the customers and that they don't cheat you in any way but that's not the case, gambling is a lucrative business that generates the owners, billions if not millions of dollars every year, do you think that they would be able to do that if they really care about their players, the one that will care the most will be the first one that's going to go out of business, that's the truth.
15  Economy / Gambling / Re: ♣️ CoinPoker.com ♣️ Play Crypto Poker Online - 💰 $2,000 Welcome Bonus! on: May 25, 2024, 06:32:25 AM
I want to report a bug, it seems that the mobile verification is not working - I tried in Macos and android. I can't get any code. Is there any solution for this?
I'm from Philippines , maybe it could help debugging this problem from Coinpoker side, thanks.
I don't know why it happened to me too, it worked the first time for me but then the same thing happened to me, I really want to check out this website, I mean it's poker so I got to check it out and try to play, hopefully this bug would get a fix, really curious how the website works, is this an isolated case in the Philippines because I haven't seen other users from a different country having this problem.
16  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Gambling A Hobby? on: May 25, 2024, 05:45:20 AM
If it matches the definition of hobby then probably you can consider gambling as a hobby but it's a destructive one and in my opinion, it shouldn't even be considered a hobby because that's just watering down on the words that would fit better which is addiction. Maybe some wouldn't agree about my opinion but there are other things that you can use as your hobby that's not consuming of your money, time, and sanity, you can read or write, play games, learn something that would benefit your life, there's so many things that you can just do for free and consider a hobby, why choose a self-destructive one?
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction does more harm than mere financial loss on: May 25, 2024, 03:32:19 AM
Any kind of addiction has that, some are even worse than that. Any addict will always be a bad example and no matter how you shape and mold it, it will always end up with you getting the worst of things as is always the case with any addiction. I think that we're mostly talking here about financial losses because this forum is mostly financial related stuff, that's why we don't discuss it that much often and it's already obvious to most people that gambling have more effects other than the financial aspect maybe the things that's worth discussing here is the times where the obvious harm that gambling addiction isn't present in that addicted person.
18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tell me why sportsbooks does not have some promo on the NBA playoffs. on: May 25, 2024, 02:30:43 AM
It's because they've got a lot of money already and the bigger sponsorships that they've got is already enough and those that are trying to get in that's related to sportsbook is most likely not enough for the NBA, there's also the fact that they don't really allow gambling as part of the sports I think, they're not that desperate yet to do this kind of things, NBA can still fill in arenas after all. Or it could be that most sportsbook are based of countries that have football as the staple sports or they're based in Europe where basketball isn't that popular compared to football, there's also the factor that there's more football fans than basketball fans all over the world so they try to tap in on the bigger market, also I think these sportsbook are running some analysis on what sport is making them more money and probably, basketball didn't make their cut.
19  Economy / Gambling / Re: 1XBIT.COM ᐉ 7 BTC WB ᐉ Altcoin Betting ᐉ no KYC ᕗ Instant payouts on: May 25, 2024, 01:51:01 AM
I didn't click on your link, but the problem is that despite people talking about 1xbit belonging to 1xbet, no one is taking these scammers to court so that governments become aware that these scammers are deceiving people and stealing their money and everyone Over the years 1xbet is growing, they are in many countries and in all the countries they are in, they create physical offices, they have employees in these physical offices, they pay taxes and have licenses issued by the governments of these countries, unlike most casinos online that only has a license in Curacao, 1xbet has obtained a license issued by the government of the countries in which it operates, making these scammers clean in the eyes of governments

Therefore, it becomes very difficult to fight against scammers at the level of 1xbet who have influence in many countries and probably have influence in many justice systems in many countries, perhaps that is why people do not report them to the police, unfortunately these scammers also operate In my country, they have a physical office in my country and sponsor my country's football league, I even thought about reporting them to the police in my country, but unfortunately I have no evidence against them, and in my country they have a license , they have no cases of scams, so it is difficult to remove these scammers from my country
It's probably for the reason that the people that are getting scammed by 1xbit doesn't want to pursue legal action against them, that very reason is the thing that actually would end this casino and they've been lucky so far that these people that they've done wrong aren't taking them to court. Hopefully those people would resurface and try to do a class action kind of lawsuit, that way, 1xbit or 1xbet will be forced to take some preventive measures that would help deal with the problem that they've been trying to deny for a really long time. That growth that you're talking about, that would actually make the job of suing them much easier than it should be, the evidence is a thing that would be difficult to procure though as some people didn't really expect themselves to be scammed by a casino so they lack the proof to make things more legitimate as a concern, that's why they're getting away with it here, some of the accusations don't have enough proof for them to be able to nail 1xbit as a scam casino.
20  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can soccer players collaborate with gamblers to help them win there bet? on: May 24, 2024, 11:35:34 PM
That's match fixing and I don't think that those players have the need to be doing that kind of thing especially if they're getting paid hefty sums of money to just play, they can't afford to get investigated and suspended for potential match fixing scandal and then the amount of money involved when the scandal is unearthed would make it seem like the player would look pathetic, that's what happened to that one recent NBA player where he's betting on his games and he's in an indefinite suspension or something like that.
