541  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty thread with self moderated lock on: July 31, 2020, 02:47:25 PM
While your narrative may be through, self moderated topics give the thread poster to be able to edit all the post on the thread without any approval from the posters. This sometime help moderator to take care of spam messages that are being posted. If your comment was deleted, it means the bounty manager see it as inappropriate and this doesn't mean self moderated topics are not bad or that all bounty managers use to do the same
542  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Lukki exchange ( Lukki.io ) is a Scam on: July 31, 2020, 10:34:31 AM
This should rather be in the bitcoin trading section and it will also be better if you can make a full report to justify the scam on the scam accusation section. This will definitely going to save a lot of traders particularly those newbies from this exchange platform if this is true. I have checked the platform and I can see the site was registered a long time ago and their social media platform is still very active https://twitter.com/ExchangeLukki and https://t.me/lukkichat
543  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ledger 1 Mln Users Data Under Attack on: July 31, 2020, 10:17:00 AM
People have been saying "just buy a hardware wallet" for a long time, but it has always been less than a perfect solution, because some centralization and trust has always been involved, and now it was abused. Now potential burglars and kidnappers have a list of people who own some bitcoins, and something like this will never happen with a software wallet, because it doesn't ask you for your personal information during installation.

IMO and old PC with live OS like Tails is the best cold storage you can get.
people say that because it is safer than many other alternatives. private keys of their customers have not stored on their e-commerce wallet just detail information of the customers which I do not see how the hacker with such information can hack into such customers' hardware wallets except contact tracing and direct robbery.
Those that ordered for the hardware wallets will be subject of many spams and phishing emails from the hackers just to see if they can steal some bitcoin from them
544  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why People Call Bitcoin Blockchain? on: July 30, 2020, 06:30:21 PM
The title of your of the topic derails from the question is asked. It will be good if you can edit and provide a title that suits your question.
To answer your question. Blockchain technology is evolving and the reason, while it is most useful in the financial sector, is because of one purpose; to achieve a more transparent and fairer way of processing and implementing data. However, it has a huge limitation in some sectors such as health because it will be very dangerous to put medical records of patients on the blockchain that can be accessed by anyone.
545  Other / Archival / Re: Bank Account Freezed on: July 30, 2020, 04:51:08 PM
Most financial institutions including banks are not friendly with bitcoin especially in countries that remain undecided whether or not to regulate crypto. receiving funds from the crypto-related business might be the reason why your account got frozen. However, It will be better if you can go to the bank and complain to them in order to understand why your account got frozen and how to unblock it
546  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: African bitcoin ATMs on: July 30, 2020, 04:45:49 PM
Thanks OP for creating this detail thread on bitcoin ATM in Africa. Quite sad though we have only one in Nigeria, thought I saw a trend something back about a new one been installed in Abuja but just did some research and found out it was just a rumor.  With Nigeria having the highest trading volume in Africa and completing with most 1st world countries I thought we would have had more than one especially in the big cities like Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt.

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread, any day we get one installed in my city, I'll be among the very first patronizers and if I wait for a long time without any positive news of one been installed then I might probably take a trip down to Lagos just to patronize the Bitcoin ATM they have over there.

Love it when my country (Nigeria) Isn't been left out of the fun of cryptocurrency, more wins to the county as young and brilliant cryptopreneur are emerging steadily.
I think Bitcoin ATM could be another form of business in Nigeria very soon just as we have so many local exchangers now. Hopefully, there will be no serious regulations concerning crypto and other ecurrencies in Nigeria. Just like Patricia is making crypto spending online seamless by offering crypto debit card, many local exchangers might venture into Bitcoin ATM business by installing in their shops and other outlets
547  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: RAGE AGAINST THE WHALES: WHO THE FUCK ARE THEY? on: July 30, 2020, 10:54:17 AM
You do not need to know who are whales before you believe they exist and they are always responsible for massive influence on the price of a coin. If you have been following services that give signals of huge crypto transfers on the blockchain, you will know the bases for the current surge in price. For the past few days, Millions in dollars of stablecoins are being transferred and traded on large exchanges such as Binance, Huobi, etc. It is no longer news that such amount has the ability to influence the market price.
548  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Rise of Bitcoin on: July 30, 2020, 10:47:05 AM
If you have been following crypto fo a long time, you will understand that the current sudden rise in price is nothing new and you should not be surprised if the reverse happens because it is a random pump which happens the most time when the whales enter the market. Such sudden jump creates a lot of attention that leads to a continuous increase in the trading volume of bitcoin. However, Ethereum has been touted to further increase due to the upcoming ETH 2.0 but there is no specific reason behind sudden increase in price of bitcoin but rather a massive pump
549  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 900,000 illegal bitcoins. on: July 28, 2020, 06:34:40 PM
Some of them already hit the market these are some of them https://twitter.com/whale_alert/status/1287807444006117376?s=20
https://twitter.com/whale_alert/status/1287807441275629568?s=20 I'm very sure many must have been mixed are sold in exchange as well. Stolen coin are becoming rampant daily and people are making use of bitcoin as escape route for this illicit scam
550  Economy / Economics / Re: Bank's loss crypto's gain? on: July 28, 2020, 01:52:32 PM
I still believe it is a long way if this revolution is going to occur. People leaving banking and adopt crypto means they will need to be educated about how to use crypto. If you check very well, there still millions of people that can't still access internet not to talk of learning what crypto is. In my country market traders are still putting money at home and still remain unbanked. This category of people are far from adopting crypto
551  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So many scam giveaways is it because Bitcoin is moving up on: July 28, 2020, 12:15:58 PM
I don't think it is because the price of crypto is increasing that cause increase in number of scam giveaway. Most of this scam use the same script that has been reportedly used before so I believe other scammers are using the same just because some of the reported ones are successful. Meaning some fell for the scam. Such media attention makes other hackers to look for other means of perpetuating this evil
552  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some gamblers have been arrestes in Bangladesh for money laundering through bitc on: July 28, 2020, 10:10:23 AM
As long as you are not involve in using bitcoin for a shady business, I don't see reason why you should be fearing anything. Those people you mentioned committed crime and they are being caught. They are part of the few people giving bitcoin a bad name. When you sell to local exchangers make sure you are selling to people with legitimate business about digital currency. I also sell to local exchangers here and they are registered business owners that I've known for almost a decade
553  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Late Show with Stephen Colbert calls bitcoin a scam on: July 28, 2020, 09:53:52 AM
People like that don't even know what bitcoin is. It is just like a 4 months old baby wanting to eat a pizza. How could he relate social media attack with a scam. Bitcoin is not a scheme which could be regarded as a scam if your money is stolen but scenario surrounding the hacks had given so many people audacity to speak bad about bitcoin just because they ain't know or successful holding bitcoin. If we could turn back the year and go back to 2011, I bet he will be among the people who will be ready to sell all he has to buy bitcoin
554  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does Name really matter in crypto? on: July 27, 2020, 08:49:03 PM
The name is part of a brand. It does matter for a process to be successful but it is also important and it can drive people's attention to an asset. However, what really matters is what problem the project intends to solve, its novelty, and future outlooks. the team perseverance is also important. the dev team must be dedicated and be ready to give the best in order for the project to be successful.
555  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Scammers are back with another trick. Be alert!!! on: July 27, 2020, 05:36:30 PM
Whoever fall for this scams will fall for anything because there is nothing like crypto giveaway that will tell you to send part of your coin in order to get double. This is completely dump. Despite of media report of this scam giveaway, people are still falling for it daily https://twitter.com/whale_alert/status/1287409105704038401?s=20
556  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: No exchange? No Value! on: July 27, 2020, 05:08:38 PM
The first thing you need to do is to find the website to the project that has the token and from there you will get info about what is the next move. I also hold Amon token which was listed on cryptopia but when it got hacked. The dev took time to get the coin listed on another exchange despite the fact that some holders lost their token on that exchange. In case the project is in active, it is likely you end up holding a dead token
557  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stay away from centralized wallets on: July 27, 2020, 02:28:57 PM
You have not given the disadvantage of decentralized wallet that people are compelling to use. For a newbie, it is generally advisable to use a centralized wallet because it is generally easy to use and you can easily recover your wallet back in case you don't know the password. This is entirely different for DEX wallet because it is more complex to use
558  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: cannot open myetherwallet.com, page is blank on: July 27, 2020, 01:24:05 PM
Try a different browser and see maybe it works. Your browser might require a current update in order to fully open. The site will notify in case this is required. I do experience this too when the MEW server is becoming crowded or my network browser is very poor. This can also caused it. Even if the page opens, you can find it difficult to access your account.
559  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you believe in crypto ratings? on: July 26, 2020, 03:03:21 PM
They are already listed some of the criteria they used in rating those coin and it shouldn't surprise you if you don't see bitcoin rating first on that list. This is because each rating platforms have different view in which some are subject while some are not. Just the way crypto ranking of exchange platforms are not the same. It is left for you to do your own research and accept or reject what ever you see.
560  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Steve Wozniak Sues YouTube Over Twitter-Like Bitcoin Scam on: July 26, 2020, 02:13:32 AM
Giveaway ads on YouTube has not stopped and people are still fallen for it. This mean one thing, YouTube don't review well the ads before it is being accepted. It is a bad news for YouTube because they are being careless and make people lose money recklessly. Who would have thought ads on YouTube are published by scammers.
