1181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What are the criteria for choosing altcoin on: June 06, 2022, 10:19:12 PM
I think the criteria for a very good altcoin to invest in is that it must be listed on several major exchanges, altcoins have large fundamentals and trading volume, have high utility, and altcoins have a solid community, if these factors can be seen in, then it can be make sure the altcoin has great potential and is very appropriate to invest, of course it will not be easy for you to find if you don't do in-depth research.
trading volume and listed in several major exchanges didn't guarantee it will be good project. only utility in ecosystem will create demand that will attract trading volume in market.  when projects having  great utiility , investors will trust to invest their money, so it wouldnot be pump and dump project.
Trading volume can't be an indicator to choose altcoins for investment. There are better methods to choose the higher ROI potential altcoins since trading volume can be misleading especially for new traders. Getting listed on major exchanges and demand by investors have to be first 2 filter before going for next ones, IMHO.
Trading volume too needs to be taken into consideration, because it is possible to see coins with much higher ROI, but when you go for the volume it'll be in few thousands. Getting listed on major exchanges adds more value to the project. Best part is the trusted assets that have got a minimum viable product. This is most important when choosing a coin, so that market won't experience a decline that easily.
1182  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ever thought of doing your thesis on Gambling ? on: June 06, 2022, 10:14:10 PM

But the mental disorder paper does sound somewhat interesting.
If I ever gets a chance to do a gambling thesis - I will do it on the side effects of gambling.
Because I have read so much about the destruction made by the gambling. People gets into the gambling but like a muddy puddle they keep pushing themselves in the puddle and its hard to come out of it clean. That's my 2 cents of suggestion
There is advantage as well as disadvantages. Make the thesis along with the success and failure stories. This means make a comparison chart to indicate which stands high among the users. Without that just mentioning the side effects like mental stress, financial burst out etc. You could've read more destruction that have happened out of gambling. Same time there is more success stories that have happened out of gambling.
1183  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Something Like This Happen To You on: June 06, 2022, 02:38:03 AM
Everything is part of emotion. In my personal experience I never wait for a day. I just go for the big risk, I need to recover what I've lost or else I need to end of losing everything. Recently one incident happened, lost around $250 and the same day received my signature payment. Risked the amount and recovered the loss, but I believed it as a winning streak and started to play with the high rolls than declining the bet value. This finally ended at losing everything, so whether it is a winning streak/losing doesn't matter. It is the emotion that needs to be controlled.
1184  Economy / Economics / Re: Decentralized control of Cryptocurrencies on: June 06, 2022, 02:01:34 AM
What do you think? Is it necessary or possible to control a decentralized cryptocurrency or not.

let's take it from the meaning of it all, we called something a decentralized network, having the full understanding of what the word decentralized means it has made the whole explanation of itself without any need to further stress, Bitcoin is a decentralized digital currency and can not be controlled by any third party, we all understand many attempts from government to regulate and control cryptocurrency but all moves turns void as bitcoin has its system controlled and regulated by itself, only the crypto industries and exchanges can't escape the regulation on tax among others from government since they are centralized.
The main thing is to understand what Bitcoin control is for you. If you mean in this concept that no one can take it away from you or forbid you to dispose of it, then this is true, but you are mistaken! Bitcoin is controlled by its main holders. They manage its volatility and control it very well, while making good money on it. By managing volatility, they become monopolists, and monopoly is the main control over the crypto market.
Agreed, the whales on the market were able to manipulate the market. This isn't long lasting, they were able to do this to some extent. Those are days when the market is infant, whenever there happens a crash the whales make some disturbance and the same crashes the market even further. I remember those days when there is crash, we can see a series of negative news on hacks, stolen funds etc that are intentionally circulated to create panic waves.
1185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This popular restaurant Accepts Payments In Crypto (Chipotle) on: June 06, 2022, 01:19:30 AM
Already there is a thread for the same discussion. Among the list of food chains accepting bitcoin, now Chipotle have got added. Around 3000 locations around US, part of Chipotle accepting bitcoin through flexa is a positive news. Atleast a single member on every location making purchase with bitcoin will count to a big number. Another thing is the visibility to flexa, people are much used to bitpay and now everyone will get to know about flexa which is doing similar service as bitpay.

Chipotle now accepts crypto payments (only in US stores for now)
1186  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Any changes experienced within body - Gambling??? on: June 06, 2022, 12:47:12 AM
The biggest problem i had was anxiety and loss of appetite. Gambling seemed very enjoyable at first. Even if i lost money, i could make up for it. But as my earnings grew, stress, anxiety and loss of appetite increased at the same rate. As i suffered great losses, i became anti-social. I started not meeting with people around me. I hit rock bottom as i tried to make up for recurring losses. I don't think this is the end of the situation. So do it in a fun way. If you're going to take risks take risks with small balances. Don't get caught up in this business.
Rather than loss of appetite, it is the emotion that doesn't let us think of food. When we're happy our mind think of many things. Fooding too gets importance here, when we're in loss the major think circulating our mind is the recovery of losses. This isn't an easy thing, and at some point we'll get o know the reality of gambling which makes as move on rather than being emotionally down causing different factors affecting our health.
1187  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: June 05, 2022, 07:00:55 PM
What a game, 141 runs in the first innings and winning the match by 5 wickets is really a big thing. Even in the second innings England lost 5 wickets for 159 runs. If a wicket have fallen New Zealand would've taken a chance. It was Joe Root and Foakes were the key person, because even when one is scoring the other end needs to give support. Foakes did it perfectly and the match have got over in the first session of day 4. Anyhow England have got some home ground advantage, because even with a new ball wicket haven't fallen in today's session.
1188  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you feel when the market is downtrend? on: June 05, 2022, 01:10:30 PM
It is quite common to think of investing when the market turns downtrend. Very few take it an opportunity whereas majority of the users have a positive mind about the market to turn bullish. This majority users will keep on looking for an opportunity to buy even lower. Till the end the majority don't make a buying. Finally when the market bounces back, regrets for missing the opportunity to profit.
1189  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will owning 0.01 BTC really make you rich? on: June 05, 2022, 10:08:36 AM
According to today's price of bitcoin, 0.01BTC is valued to be $300. If we consider the ath price of bitcoin then 0.01BTC will be around $690. The price needs to reach atleast $1m for 0.01BTC to be valued $10000. With this one can have a small house and fulfill few more needs in a third world country, but for the same to happen it takes more years. Getting rich out of bitcoin is getting harder with time, and in my opinion now it is time to get rich through altcoins.
1190  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - The Leading Crypto Casino - 🦉 Drake, UFC, Watford Main Partner ⚽ 🥊 on: June 04, 2022, 08:09:29 PM
Unlike third-party slots, changing seed is easy on house games and it has some effect on overall result. Like you can hunt 1mlnx limbo and one seed can hit it in first 1000 rolls while another unlucky seed can go over 10mnln nonce without single hit.
I know that changing seed in house games is pretty easy, but it won't influence the result in any manner whatsoever. What you stated is classic gamblers fallacy. It all comes down to luck in 100% luck based games at the end of the day basically.
Change of seed gives you the choice to make a prediction. This doesn't assure with profit, because gambling is cent percent money dependent where luck needs to accompany. If not the loss needs to be accepted.
Focusing on bankroll management is key here.
You must focus on bankroll management only if you wish to extend your sessions for as long as possible and have fun simultaneously.
Bankroll management is really a must, because while we're into gambling when there happens an emotional failure, surely the respective person needs to communicate and get out of iit.
1191  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kenyan energy company entices Bitcoin miners with geothermal power on: June 04, 2022, 07:51:40 PM
Kenya have made a good decision in power generation and requesting investors invest on cryptocurrency mining out of the geothermal energy. There are discussion of transmitting the excess power generated, so that it'll bring revenue. But the real-time difficulty is big through the massive transmission loss. During the previous year Kenya have marked the highest power loss during the domestic transmission and distribution. It roughly account to 23% of the electricity produced during the year. This is why investors are asked for making use of the excess energy generated.
1192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solana has two power outages in a month, causing prices to plummet on: June 03, 2022, 11:23:09 PM
Solana is praised to be the ethereum killer while reaching the market based on its processing of transactions. Solana process far higher number of transactions than the ethereum, but this outages will be a big blow for the platform. In several discussions it is said that solana will takeover the popularity of ethereum, but ethereum won't allow it to happen if this is how the network performs. Even Sam Bankman Fried, FTX founder stated solana has the ability to scale to the mass adoption level of bitcoin. For now everything is a question mark.
1193  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The digital ID for Gambling on: June 03, 2022, 11:15:10 PM
^ I also thinking of this, probably this ID system will matter only of having taxes and people should pay tax and the government will always benefit on this.
However, that is the disadvantage that I have seen here, if you will analyze the ID system will help the gamblers and also the gambling platform upon scamming for both parties. there is no scam for both or any illegal activities because they are both under the control of the government. I want to hear an update on this like after a year or in several months, if there will be improvements much better, it could also other countries will follow of what they did.

If not for taxes, why will they implement uid verification for a gambler who enjoys playing in his leisure time, you know some casino platforms don't request KYC before withdrawal and there are some countries who licence these platforms to operate in their jurisdiction but many of them wouldn't want to undergo verification since they don't want the government to have a cut in their winnings, smart move.  Grin Grin
I think some people may want to do this but users who know the implication of privacy dump wouldn't try it, beside it is not a compulsory task before you can engage in gambling, it may even die if it's not worldwide.
We find the primary concern is to stop the underage people from gambling, but the reality is different. The measures were a beginning to end the taxation issues arising out of gambling. When KYC is done using the digital ID automatically each and every play is being monitored and based on the profit/loss one can be taxed. As mentioned this isn't mandatory which gives a relief to the gamblers.
1194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What altcoin will go 10x this year? on: June 03, 2022, 11:08:30 PM
Altcoins always follow the market trend of bitcoin. Based on the changes happening with bitcoin, there'll be growth variation on altcoins. As of now we can't get to conclusion on which coin will mark 10x growth. For sure majority of the altcoins will reach this when the market turns bullish. Most of the new projects will make an entry by this time, so that they get the right time to make a pump in their projects. Finding some potential projects with legitimacy could be a good pick.
1195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 4.45 million bitcoin untouched for 5yrs,do BTC community can retrieve in future? on: June 02, 2022, 10:05:26 PM
We can't get into conclusion those bitcoins that weren't transacted for 5years is a lost one. Among that will be coins that are kept hold for years.

To retrieve bitcoins that are being lost is impossible thing. These days we've got some people claiming that they'll be able to get back stolen and lost bitcoins. Don't believe it.

If this gets added up to the circulation, we'll experience an increase in the volume as well as the dominance level.

James Howells accidentally threw his hard drive during an office cleanup in 2013. He have been struggling hard to find it, even reached NASA for help. Similar incidents can be found and this can be considered a lost one.
1196  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: June 02, 2022, 12:32:59 PM
The president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly, set the record straight as he finally unveiled what his cryptic tweet on Wednesday was about. The former India captain launched an  app "Classplus" which will give educators, teachers, and coaches a platform to monetize their content.

Ganguly, President of BCCI have explained about his tweet. He hasn't left BCCI, and he have launched an edu-tech app "Classplus" which is for the educators, teachers and coaches to monetize their content. Everyone are sure about the market situation and have well understood about the ongoing trend of online education. As a result Ganguly have started his own education app. Soon we can see him promoting the app during the match break.
1197  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: June 02, 2022, 04:44:10 AM
Ganguly was shitposting  Grin

It turns out he's just starting a new marketing venture, nature of venture is still unknown. There were some rumor of his resignation or may be joining politics. Like getting Rajya sabha ticket from BJP or TMC.

I won't be surprised if he is nominated to the Rajya Sabha. However, the candidate list is already announced and Ganguly's name is not there. And more importantly, there are no elections to West Bengal Rajya Sabha seats this time, which would rule out the possibility of TMC nominating him (chances are very low anyway, as the relations between the two sides are not good). One possibility is that 7 of the nominated members of Rajya Sabha completed their term on 24th April 2022. Their replacement is yet to be announced. There maybe a chance that Saurav may be nominated there.
His tweet has been connected and the same got viral that Ganguly has resigned the position as President of BCCI. If he is to be nominated, he should resign as a president. I'm not sure, is there anything like one cannot hold two positions. In my opinion he can resign and give path for others, because there were big expectation over his activities. Finally everything happened same as the past. Nothing big has changed.
1198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paid the birth fee using bitcoin at the clinic, by accident. on: June 02, 2022, 04:08:38 AM
Congrats @bitzizzix your lucky child have reached the world. Birth is an unforgettable moment, and for you this is more special for few more reasons. Through his birth your child have made you experience spending in terms of bitcoin. The birthdate looks really special with  June 02/2022. You've got a person in contact who is using bitcoin (The Doctor). Take care of Mom and Kid.
1199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Bitcoin Nearly Bailed Me Out on: June 01, 2022, 11:56:40 PM
I have come across similar incident, but the amount isn't that big to make a difference. At some critical situation I searched and recovered $50. By that time it was really helpful, and myself too had the recovery seed in the form of screenshot. As different users mentioned it isn't good to have our recovery seed in the form of screenshot, but that was the easy way to have it stored in a separate folder than copying it on a notepad.
1200  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Computer Scientists say Crypto Industry is Misleading??? on: June 01, 2022, 11:40:41 PM
According to few popular computer scientists the crypto industry is misleading the public about blockchain technology.
The list were has 26 computer, Harvard lecturer Bruce Schneier, Microsoft engineer Miguel de Icaza and Google Cloud’s principal engineer Kelsey Hightower were few among them. This team of Computer Scientists have given a letter to the US Officials.

These Computer Scientists have given few statements on cryptocurrency and Blockchain technology.

  • "The claims that the blockchain advocates make are not true. It’s not secure, it’s not decentralized. Any system where you forget your password and you lose your life savings is not a safe system.”
  • “We urge you to resist pressure from digital asset industry financiers, lobbyists and boosters to create a regulatory safe haven for these risky, flawed and unproven digital financial instruments"
  • "Crypto-assets have been the vehicle for unsound and highly volatile speculative investment schemes that are being actively promoted to retail investors who may be unable to understand their nature and risk.”
  • The computational power behind blockchain is the equivalent of what one could do in a centralized way with a $100 computer.
  • “We’re essentially wasting millions of dollars worth of equipment because we’ve decided that we don’t trust the banking system.”
