1901  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't get discouraged! on: February 16, 2021, 12:55:23 PM
Just had an interesting thought. If we would live in a world where wealth would be equally distributed, each person would own 0.003 btc, so holding even 0.01 btc makes you wealthier than 3 people bundled together. But we don't live in that world so 0.01 BTC could be worth much more if Bitcoin gets adopted as the worldwide standard of value.
That is assuming that there is no lost bitcoins and satoshi sold the 1 million bitcoin that satoshi has. And the problem with that is how much will .003 bitcoin be worth when it is equally distributed and the bitcoin is circulated quickly into the economy. We can't imagine a world with only bitcoin but we can live in a world where it coexist with fiat and other financial instruments. From what I can understand my guess is that OP got greedy into thinking that s/he can get past his/her limits in mining which discouraged OP to not mine because of how small the mined coins s/he got.
1902  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should I accept Bitcoin for payments on my online store? on: February 15, 2021, 01:46:47 PM
If bitcoin is legally recognized by your government then you can undoubtedly start accepting bitcoin currency as your consumer's payment method.even no problem if you want to use others currency like ether or usdt. Paying with those online currency would be easiest way of payment for your consumers.even if you already accept bitcoin, then you can see how much bitcoin raised recently! So its good idea to accept bitcoin for your Online store as payment method but don't forget about fees issue
It is a good addition to your business, integrating cryptocurrency is the best way. But OP has to watch out for the volatility of the market and it could spell the downfall of a company, the only way is to integrate the transaction that updates per second as that is the minimum change in the prices. Another problem that I can see is that OP's online store integration of cryptocurrency will be a problem.
1903  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can you say you made money if you never actally sell your coins? on: February 15, 2021, 12:40:51 PM
That's right, without selling our Bitcoin, I don't think it's making money. Therefore, all of us investing in Bitcoin must have a sell target that we want
to achieve, so I'm sure no one wants to HODL forever. One day for sure the Bitcoin that we have will be sold, but everyone has a different sell target.
I will sell my Bitcoin when it hits the $ 50k price tag, because that's the target I want to sell.
I hate to disagree but there are people who makes money without selling their coins, some of them have threads that are documenting the profit that they get, I can't remember the users but I think it was posted around the gambling board or the gambling discussion, I can't be certain. I wanted to look for their post but my fever seems to make me a lazy bastard and just sleep. Any sensible person will have to sell their bitcoin someday, there will be those that are loyal because they believe that bitcoin will someday replace the banking institutions as the prophecy says, you wouldn't know what price you are going to sell it but your gut will tell you what needs to done.
1904  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we get another golden oppurtunity to buy? on: February 14, 2021, 02:54:39 PM
Every momemt is a golden opportunity when it comes to buying bitcoin although the reward become lesser than the risk every price increase. Bitcoin/crypto currency investing will test your wits, intelligence, patience perseverance and of course good amount of cash. If you have all these or most of it, then you should invest now while it still is below 50k.
For people who wants to profit big, the current prices is not the golden opportunity. But for everyone that aims for a long term profit, this moment is definitely a golden opportunity to buy, we do not know whether this current price will be the last time that bitcoin will ever touch it, for better or for worse. We also should consider buying other coins besides bitcoin, besides being more affordable, they have the potential to go up in prices.
1905  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: America's oldest bank support bitcoin holding on: February 14, 2021, 10:47:35 AM
~
When we talk about hidden interests in every action of large corporations / banks:

Bank of New York Mellon (BNY Mellon) is said to have played a role in the Ponzi $ 4 billion OneCoin scheme.

The class action lawsuit seeking compensation from OneCoin and its founder, Ruzha Ignatova, added the US bank to its list of parties involved.

The plaintiffs accused BNY Mellon of processing payments for OneCoin in 2016 and citing the project as a possible "Ponzi / pyramid scheme" stemming from an internal investigation.
I knew that they were up to something but this is a hindsight, nobody believed that OneCoin was a Ponzi scheme until Ruzha disappeared. And whatever they are planning, this banks are going to survive another lawsuit. This banks are untouchables, they are politically influential considering they are the oldest bank in USA.

~
No need to go in details as we are not going to give our bitcoin holdings to the bank when we can keep them save in our own private wallets. But this is a bullish news for bitcoin as now after the institutes , banks are also getting involved in bitcoins. I can see the world financial system changing soon.  Wink
Hope that you are right about the financial system changing soon, these banks are looking for long term and I don't see a good future with them in the game. One thing I know about people that work on finances is that when the money is right, they will eat each out and sell their souls.
1906  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Morgan Stanley May Bet on Bitcoin in $150 Billion Investment Arm on: February 14, 2021, 09:22:40 AM
I still consider this with a grain of salt though. The keyword here is "may" bet.

Of course, who wouldn't want that billion of dollars going into the ecosystem? But we have to understand that this is bankers, they wouldn't just pour their money without getting huge returns and this could be manipulation waiting to happen. As much as this is very welcoming news, I will still be cautious about their intent.
Rumors are flying in and out everyday, we just have to bet that most gossip in the finance world sometimes materializes. It is right that we are to be cautious because of what they are, but we can take advantage of that, if they can manipulate the market to go up and down then we just have to know when to strike, buy when they sell and sell when they buy. This is inevitable and the only way is for us small investors to survive is to adapt to the changes, this is a dream and a nightmare for bitcoin and we can't have the other without embracing both of them.
1907  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: America's oldest bank support bitcoin holding on: February 14, 2021, 08:30:01 AM
Not going to lie, it excites me but I know for a fact that this old bank supporting the bitcoin is up to something. I don't know what it is but I know that they want to get in because they are planning something in the market. They are a welcome but we have to be cautious because this bankers operate not on the interest of the people but their interest and the people that protect them. This is still the same as hodling your bitcoin on an exchange and attacks can happen.
1908  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Happy Valentines Day on: February 14, 2021, 07:50:43 AM
Happy Valentine's day! of course, anyone would appreciate gifts, but receiving them in Bitcoin would be another thing to appreciate. hopefully in the future you learn not to gamble your coins. one thing to remember, there is no point in gambling when you can simply appreciate what you have and enjoy your life. gambling would only bring you regrets.
If you and your date are like minded, I think that gifting bitcoin will work but it is not a good first impression if that is your first date especially if you do not have the same interest with bitcoin, you will look like you are paying that person for their affection, in short it's like buying a whore. Too bad that OP lost a lot in gambling, we all have our reasons but we have to find a way to resolve our problem or should I say, find a reason to quit your gambling. @ImHash is right, there is no point in gambling, but there is also no point in not having fun, my advice is to play but know when to quit.
1909  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is 100% faith on: February 14, 2021, 06:46:00 AM
I did have faith that bitcoin will go up during the 2018 price drop that sent many users into selling their bitcoin, does that count too? I mean, if faith is what we are talking about then they should know that everything in this world that has value is also 100% faith. One good example is the fiat currency, it's just a piece of paper in essence but how can it buy your food or get you into movie theaters? It's because the people on the other end of transaction has faith that it has a value in it, bitcoin did not introduce this kind of thing, it was happening ever since the dawn of civilizations, people putting value into something, gold, silver, copper, and gems are just minerals and ores in essence but because they are shiny, we have to put some value into it. The only difference is that bitcoin makes it obvious and right now, bitcoin is in the spotlight.
1910  Economy / Speculation / Re: different price movement this time on: February 13, 2021, 12:07:15 PM
I don't see how can Bitcoin plateau after reaching ATH, it's way too tempting to not sell at the top, and there's still a lot early investors who would reap massive profits. With each day the term "early investor" gets pushed more and more forward, soon people who joined in 2014-2016 will be considered early, because Bitcoin was 50-100 times cheaper back then.

Bitcoin usually stabilizes during bear markets, when the price stagnates for long periods of time, and this is the most likely scenario this time too - the only thing that can be different is the magnitude of top and bottom.
That would be the worst thing that could happen to bitcoin, plateau meant that the prices will not go up anymore and investing in it will be useless because your investment will not return. That was never been the pattern of any market, plateauing after reaching an all time high.
1911  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I messed up and feel terrible about it on: February 13, 2021, 11:03:53 AM
You made a bad move of buying back bitcoin with the money that you got from selling bitcoin. You already had the bitcoin back and although you spend some more buying back, remember that you can get back that loss and get more profit if you are going to hodl the one that you currently have. You don't need to worry about it, regretting something is not a good thing because it makes you do bad decisions because you are scared that you might make the same mistake, you are only making yourself terrible for nothing.
1912  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin before and now on: February 13, 2021, 10:20:50 AM
A lot of speculations about Bitcoin reaching $50,000-$100,000 on post halving of 2020, but nobody predicted how it's going to happen. Nobody expects that a lot of institutions and even the rich people are coming in to cryptocurrency.
This year might be different from 2017 bullrun, maybe because of the influence from big names. I'm kinda excited what will happen next when Bitcoin hits $50,000.
It is already different than the 2017 bullrun, it is already February and the pump is still going strong. You are right that nobody expected that institutions from financial world gathered to adopt cryptocurrency which makes the 2020-2021 bull run different. When bitcoin hits the 50k USD price, more investors will be pouring money in the market to stimulate it more into becoming more pricier, the 100k range speculation is not far from impossible if financial institutions keeps coming in to invest, they know that going late to the party will make them late for the dance too, so they have a limited time to decide.
1913  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If BTC were to permanently freeze at one price , would you buy ? on: February 13, 2021, 09:35:32 AM
The main point of btc purchase is to earn more fiat in the future. Thats how and why the majority of people invest in crypto
You didn't answer the question that the thread asks, I know that it is not possible but we have to assume that this thing will happen to bitcoin in the spirit of being on topic in this thread. I think that purchasing power is a narrow mindset if you want to use bitcoin, there are other ways to get a purchasing power but what makes bitcoin different is that you are responsible for the loss and gain of your money, if you lost it then you have no one to blame. I guess that you are right about the money making potential of bitcoin that makes people interested. If the prices were to plateau and never to go up or down again, then I will take the chance to buy myself a good portion of it and hodl it and sell it OTC where I can sell it at a higher price although it will be difficult at first because there are a lot in supply.

It definitely won't make a good investment but it will get its value increased on the streets
@Lorence.xD is onto something here but I disagree that when that thing happens it will still be a good investment.
1914  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are you looking for freedom on: February 12, 2021, 11:38:07 AM
We are just enjoying the shadow of the real freedom. Have you heard of the Allegory of the Cave by Plato? It tells the story of the people that are distracted by the shadows of the things and they are content with it, not exploring outside the cave, like them we do not know what true freedom is, all the things we experience are just the baptized definition for it and nothing that, true freedom is something that is subjective to each person but to say that we are not enjoying freedom is a far fetch idea, we are enjoying it, it's just that we have our own definition of it as I have said earlier about it being a subjective.
1915  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin and Crypto Jobs 2020 on: February 12, 2021, 10:51:51 AM
Explore the job search engines. Lots of jobs associated with blockchain is available. People aren't skilled enough in my view, because job opportunity that has listed months back are still in the active job available section. Programming skills are the much required one on blockchain related jobs. Apart from development based jobs we've got more and more number of marketing related jobs. When getting into marketing related jobs, make a back check. There are more people hiring marketing candidates for scam promotion.
Real difficult to find crypto jobs on search engines, most that are on the top are either scams or nothing but useless schemes to make the owner more money. In my opinion, the best way to find cryptocurrency related jobs is in this forum, the Services board is a good place to find one, although it will be difficult because there is not a lot of jobs and the applicants are high making a employer favored competition so you will have to be careful in sifting through. Another thing to avoid as @KennyR said is the scam promotion, projects that does not promise anything but will cause the person that promoted and managed it take the fall.
1916  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin & Tesla: What Everybody Missed in Elon Musk's Announcement on: February 12, 2021, 09:06:59 AM
I don't think that this should necessarily be taken as a bad piece of news.

What is as important as the actual investment is the fact that there is no mainstream accreditation for BTC as a store of value and as a cash alternative. The fact that it is placed against the same category as gold and silver which have been known as as physical stores of value for centuries is what is so significant.

Who cares if the investment into BTC is actually $1b, $500m, or the full $1.5b. It's the legitimisation of BTC as a store of value that should be valued the most out of this event.
You are right, why dwell on the things that wouldn't benefit bitcoin in the long run. I don't really mind if there is a bad or good news for bitcoin, if there is a balance or a favor on the good news, I am happy, any publicity is a good publicity, if bad news is what gets people talking about it then let them have it, the people that matters knows what is the truth when a bad news happens so I don't worry much about it. The moment that bitcoin is on par with precious metals is a good news already.
1917  Economy / Economics / Re: Loans are cheap good time to use loans for Investment in btc on: February 12, 2021, 08:10:17 AM
The cryptocurrency market is still a very risky thing to recommend to anyone to use loans for transactions. A bad time to enter the market and/or a prolonged correction can drive such a risky investor into huge losses.
Taking loans to invest as an individual investor is a suicide in my opinion, there no good loans, the more you think that it is a good loan then the more predatory it is than you think. Plus as @AndySt mentioned, at the current price of bitcoin, entering will not yield you good profits that will be enough to pay the loans plus the interest. Volatility is a factor too so you have to watch out for that or your loans will eat you up and drown you. In the end, the lender will be the only one that profits from this predatory scheme so you don't have to think about getting one.
1918  Economy / Economics / Re: Confirmed NGN banks blocking account, what could be the outcome on the economy? on: February 12, 2021, 07:04:45 AM
I hope that it will not be the case for you @CryptopreneurBrainboss, you have a lot of transactions in cryptospace but I would bet on the fact you won't be affected because AFAIK about this issue, the only ones that gets a crackdown from are the businesses but not the individuals. The only problem with this is that you might be affected because government doesn't seem to discriminate businesses from individual when it comes to this kind of things, I hope that you can find an alternative to stay in cryptospace. In my opinion, this will hurt the economy because Nigeria is the leader when it comes to user growth followed by Australia and Spain. I will drop the link of the user growth for proof.

1919  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to tell when a trading bot is a scam on: February 11, 2021, 10:03:21 AM
Stay away from trading bots. This is the only way it saves you from being scammed.

If we have noticed now, a lot of people promoting their trading bots, showing good reviews, asking you to have some try, and you are making good friends with them. These people will find a way to trick you unnoticed, this is a common issue, and we just realize once problems arise.
That really depends because not all trading bots are not a scam, there are bots out there that are open source and you can tweak them to make them behave how you are trading. I wouldn't say that to altogether reject the idea of trading bots but being open but cautious in my opinion is the best thing to do so as not to let opportunity slip right past, I do agree that some shilled bots are suspicious but if you look hard enough, you can see that there are a lot. For me, if bots were doing trades that profit me, then I will welcome them because it provides convenience.
1920  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Importance of Bitcoin Dominance on: February 11, 2021, 09:06:40 AM
How come there are multiple endings when the bitcoin dominance increases? I don't get how the dominance increases but the bitcoin is going down or the part where the dominance decreases but bitcoin increases and the altcoin parts are a little confusing, some part it decreases because bitcoin is increasing and sometimes it stabilizes.
