1121  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER GPU FPGA overclock monitor fanspeed GCN RPC linux/windows/osx 2.3.4 on: April 25, 2012, 09:48:52 PM
Regarding ztex support, is dynamic frequency scaling supported (like with BTCMiner)?

Yes. There are a few things missing still:

- support for quad boards (1.15y)
- suspend
- high speed bitstream upload
- hotplug
- firmware upload (to support hot upgrade and the new bogus firmware feature)
- Support for the latest firmware (120417, bitstream 15d4) - This is already done but waiting on inclusion on the main repository

All of the above will be addressed as time permits. You can use the latest firmware if you compile cgminer yourself, grab it here -> https://github.com/nelisky/cgminer/tree/ztex-120417

There is a lot more I want to do but I've been mining with ztex 1.15x boards on cgminer for roughly one month now and it works great Smiley

Great stuff !

Just let me know when I can flash my GPU BIOSes without using RBE and using only cgminer.

Also let me know when I can attach cgminer to my grill to cook me some eggs as well !

Too many features in cgminer will not be beneficial for anyone. cgminer is good for one thing : mining.

If you start also allowing it to flash FPGA bitstream and firmware then why not expand it to a household alarm monitor as well etc.

Look at BFL and their "easyminer" software. That is what every FPGA dev should develop instead of piggybacking onto cgminer with puny donations like 10 BTC.
1122  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER GPU FPGA overclock monitor fanspeed GCN RPC linux/windows/osx 2.3.4 on: April 25, 2012, 01:45:22 PM
By the way, I'm having great trouble justifying the FPGA support in cgminer. It's taking me a fair amount of time vetting all the code that comes in, dealing with the drama of different coders not getting on, and that I don't have an FPGA so the code does not benefit me, nor am I earning anything off supporting FPGAs. So once again I find myself in a quandary about whether I should even be supporting them at all or not (like CPU mining, but for precisely the opposite reason!). So unless this gets easier, and it looks like it will only get harder, there is a very real possibility that someone like Luke-jr will fork the FPGA code into a separate project (he has even suggested he will) and I'll stop supporting it. I'm just giving advance warning here to people about this issue. I know it's just me whining, and harsh, but the fact is that the effort has to come from somewhere, and I do not have infinite time on my hands.

I agree with your views.

I don't have any FPGA and don't plan on ever having one.

Maybe start FPGAminer project Tongue but let us concentrate on GPUs for now because a majority of miners are using them right now.

FPGA is just a minority ...

Any port 80 mining pools for SLC or LTC ?

I am not aware of any ...

Only port 80 mining with BTC it seems Huh

Thanks !

I think pool-x.eu has a port 80 mining.

Maybe even ejpool.info

Thank you for that information !

I searched extensively and none of the LTC pools advertise their port 80 support.

It does indeed seem that Pool-X and Elitist Jerks support port 80 mining for LTC.

I have to say this is not funny and quite disturbing.

Troll or no troll but I think these kinds of threats are not seen very well by police especially when multiple people call into 911 etc.
1125  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: WTB BTC With $10k WU on: April 23, 2012, 09:30:33 PM
I think it will be OK if you are in Nigeria too Cheesy

1126  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any hope of getting bitcoin now? (dwolla 30 day bullcrap : () on: April 23, 2012, 09:01:15 PM
Ok so i need some bitcoins as some of us do, so i linked my bank account and transfered money to my dwolla account.
The money got in today and I was so excited.
But then i see that i have to wait another 30 days!
This really ticked me off, I was never told of this and i was expecting to get my bitcoins soon Sad
So what can i do now?

I see you are looking to hit up some of that SR Cheesy

This new 30 day restriction is probably because of money laundering regulations.

First it was Paxum then it is Dwolla now Huh

1127  Economy / Securities / Re: Red Star Mining IPO GLBSE Listing - FPGA double boards ~800MH/s@~40W - each on: April 23, 2012, 08:45:36 PM
So what is this magic machine you're using ? Any pictures ?

The new FPGA company should have gone public before I receive the first board.

Where  ??

"Don't worry my friend the board coming this week; we also have waiting for a big box full of USD from Nigeria prince - see I have made profits even before I started !"

He just keeps stringing Wink

I really hope I am wrong but this sounds very similar to this guy DoubleIcaras https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=61366.0

OP we really need some pictures or something because this FPGA announcement and tracking numbers and boards you are promising now for WEEKS are making me and others a bit uneasy.

I myself am really eager to see this new FPGA board along with Lancelot. Strange thing because I remember you saying it was a UK company now it seems you changed your mind..

The fact that nobody else but you knows or talks about this strange, new, mysterious brand new FPGA / vendor is also concerning.

I understand you not wanting to release concrete details but a picture would be harmless for everybody and would show people like me and Turbor that this product really exists and not a fairy tale / invention from you or the supposed company. Maybe you yourself are getting stringed by your friend with the new FPGA design ?
1128  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can anyone tell me what chip is used in BFL single? on: April 23, 2012, 08:35:54 PM
The Single has a JTAG connector, but BFL have said on this forum that using JTAG won't help in any way in finding out which chip it is.
Which leads me to suspect that it is a programmable custom ASIC, originally intended for supercomputing / cryptography.
Something like a custom FPGA or a large array of microcontrollers.

LOL at the people still thinking it is an ASIC.

ASIC in the bitcoin world is long way away folks.

Largecoin or BFL is NOT ASIC just custom HardCopy solution maybe.

Nobody is stupid enough to invest $1 million into mining equipment like ASIC would require. Maybe the GOV Grin

Let us be realistic now ...
1129  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 1 BTC bounty --- What is the best FPGA unit to buy? on: April 23, 2012, 08:32:31 PM
Back to the topic what is the best FPGA unit to buy?

For me it's ZTEX 1.15y. I can get them very soon and they know what they are doing. BFL says MiniRig ships in 12-15weeks and I have to pay in advance. It's probably 20weeks. Even if it's 12 weeks (not going to happen) I still can't buy anything from a company that doesn't even update their website or reveal their business license, names etc. Good luck for everyone who already have their Singles. I envy you but ordering Single right now is stupid.

ZTEX has a 2 year warranty.
I can get ZTEX 2-3 months sooner than BFL MiniRig. During those 2,5 months I have mined the price difference. And the most important thing to me: I do not have to wait FOUR MONTHS with almost 20k$ on the line.

Why is ordering a single right now stupid ? You think they are going to run away with the $$$ after they gained some reputation by selling the first batches at a loss Huh

That is highly unlikely IMHO. $20K is nothing for a business like BFL. I think they have a chance of making more money in the long run being legit than running now with your pocket change !

Prior to that revelation I honestly thought they built their boards out of potatoes.

Nice one D&T !

Quote from: Inspector 2211
Don't try to cloud the issues, but educate yourself instead.

D&T is one of the most educated people around here. Your point is moot !

On another note, WHY are you all trying to find BFL's secret Cheesy ?

Are you all in China ( no offence meant; just the location where all the computer equipment is made Tongue ) and trying to counterfeit BFL's design Huh

Leave the unicorn alone ! It is meant to be "seekrit! neener neener!"

If you want to go further than the 8 GPU limit, keep up on what rjk is doing. He's working hard to break that limit.

So far from what I have seen it is just some terminology without any concrete guides and people keeping the information for themselves.

Much talk about KVM, Quemu, virtualization, IOMMU, VT-D, VT-X but no guide anywhere for newbies to follow etc.

I would also stick to a big 1300W PSU rather than 2 * 700 simply because you get more density that way and much simpler for RMA etc.

1132  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Radeonvolt - HD5850 reference voltage tweaking and VRM temp. display for Linux on: April 23, 2012, 07:57:14 PM
PM'd you

I think it would be more beneficial if you told the rest of the thread people what the solution was.

I was having this same problem with 5870s. Maybe there are some other people with 5970s having problems etc.
1133  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT version 0.5 - Easy USB based mining Linux with farm wide management tools on: April 23, 2012, 04:12:00 PM
Could you also integrate a litecoin CPU miner? How much more trouble are we talking?

Also could Diablominer be implemented?

Nothing prevents you from installing any software you'd like on BAMT.  Just follow the directions like any other Linux box.

If you want these programs integrated with the BAMT monitoring tools etc like Phoenix and cgminer have been, you're looking at several hours of work.  My rate is 20btc/hr, I'd guess 250btc would be a rough estimate for integrating a new mining platform.

Not meaning to insult, I think the work on BAMT is excellent and deserves the raised pay rate of $100 / hour but what do you do for a living to earn that much in real life ?

I want to get into that market pay rate ...

The reason I am asking : CoinHunter was boasting he earns $400 / hour Cheesy
1134  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Client Problem on: April 22, 2012, 09:49:09 PM
Are you sure it was not because the application could not create its directories ?

no, I tried all variations: a clean install, no old cruft or with an existing directory preloaded.

The program does not launch that far, it barfs before it gets that far. This is a lib problem.

If it was Linux, I could tell you what to do, Mac OS X is just voodoo, sorry ;-)

Would putting the lib from say 10.6 work ?

Will this influence other software dependent on this library ?

Is this library backwards compatible etc. ?

Thanks for the information SolarSilver !

even [...] Bulanula bailed on you.
Even fucking bulanula...

Yes. Bulanula was last seen scamming BitCoins from a nice German gentleman in the BTC-e chat window. He stole 25 BTC and got banned for it.

Nice people these SolidCoin supporters, I mean ex-supporters.

Way to spew out total crap sd.

See here for all the drama : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=483.180

Ad is still here in my sig ( see ), coins not moved in blockexplorer, gave him 2 months extra from what he paid.

Where is the scam Huh

Oh yeah, you were trolling ...

same thing happened to mine and it died  Cry

Just sent it in for RMA.

Claim it is their fault and you get bonus points if you ask for a 7990 !

This is the reason why the prices are going up for GPUs.

Miners pushing cards to much then demanding compensation ...

I got 2 x Gigabyte 7970
one hashes at 712Mhash at 74deg
the other hashes at 680Mhash at 84deg (idles at 74 :/)
guess i should void my warrantee and check out whats under heatsink too Sad

cheers for the heads up Smiley

How do they check you opened the card up and voided the warranty in the first place Huh
