1201  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Wonder who this solominer is? 88.6.216.9 on: April 10, 2012, 09:43:17 AM
That's very possible.

especially because that one botnet offering was called "iMine".

iMine doesn't run on OSX, only Windows machines.

http://www.hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=2261956  Wink

So you are the guy that sells this stuff Undecided

Botnets are illegal and criminal.

The last thing we needed in Bitcoin, the botnet currency.

EDIT : seems like he deleted the post advertising his own iMiner botnet software. Cheesy

Upon further investigation it looks like they are quite organized :

-someone codes the program
-some other guys resell the program for $10 PayPal
-they only accept payment as "gift" and if you sent it otherwise they refund you automatically so you cannot chargeback them after gift is sent etc.
-miner uses both CPU and GPU on victim PC
-there were some guys getting 9 ghash/s out of this lunacy Angry
1202  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: tom's hardware including Bitcoin Mining in 2012 GPGPU benchmarks on: April 10, 2012, 08:16:16 AM
Since their BTC benchmarks are so untrue and it seems they have little will to do anything to inform themselves to correct this, it makes me wonder if indeed all their other benchmarks could be of the same rubbish quality Roll Eyes
1203  Other / Off-topic / Re: Found a box of silver coins on: April 10, 2012, 08:00:17 AM
I finally separated out the silver and the other coins. Totalled just under 250 troy ounces of silver. About $7500. There is probably some collector value and face value in the remaining coins. I am guessing about $300

Wow. Lucky find !

Wish I had some coins like that.

I only have toilet paper that is now useless Cheesy
1204  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Probably the most interesting sub-forum on bitcointalk on: April 10, 2012, 07:58:54 AM
Any alternative client that can be used to solo mine yet ?

If you solo mine, you will get less bitcoins than what you would theoretically get via mining in a pool, because the block variance for a small hash-rate is larger than the amount of time for the difficulty to increase.

I know this already !

I was asking if there is any alternative client that allows me to solo mine ... but I guess only the original Satoshi client provides workers with getwork things for solo mining short of a private poolserver on the LAN.
1205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SLC passes NMC on: April 10, 2012, 07:57:04 AM
Man... you're reminding me that once in my life I believed coinHunter and his scamcoin... gosh! I still feel ashamed  Embarrassed

We all do Grin

I still cannot believe I was considered one of the SoiledCon "people" once Cheesy ...
1206  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Estimate for 4 6990 on: April 10, 2012, 07:51:56 AM
Approx. 1500 Watt. I use 2 1000 Watt PSUs to power 4x 6990.

Are you overclocking ?

It seems strange that 4 * 5970 works with 1200W and for 4 * 6990 you need 1500W.

Also, maybe try 2 * 850 for being more cost effective because no reason to have 2 * 1000 when all you are pulling is 1500W total.
1207  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: GUIDE - How to make a PCIe extender with molex. on: April 10, 2012, 07:49:23 AM
There was some discussion about pin B3 being listed as "reserved" in the older specification for PCI-E.

Are we sure that this should be 12 V and it works without problem ?

Otherwise, excellent guide !
1208  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: PCI-E 1-to-7 extension card, anyone tried? on: April 10, 2012, 07:46:45 AM
I'm intending on getting one of these soon, I have the cards to fill it just need to arrange an order Wink

Same here but concerned about a couple of things :

-warranty
-who the actual seller is
-product arriving intact through post
-what revision will we get
-does it have bugs still like short SATA cable
-costs of import + shipping etc.

Anyone else in the UK buying this Huh
1209  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER GPU FPGA overclock monitor fanspeed GCN RPC linux/windows/osx 2.3.2 on: April 10, 2012, 07:45:12 AM
Huge issue with cgminer cant shut down gpu if its overheats. Cgminer trying it to disable the gpu over and over again, but its continuing to mine!

Do you have auto fan and auto gpu both enabled ?

I think that is the condition for the safety to kick in.

Read a few pages back, it is all there !
1210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] A public company will build a huge Bitcoin Mining Operation (ASIC). on: April 10, 2012, 07:44:04 AM
Vlad goes a bit further than the other "ASIC developers", he wants to keep it for himself and move to an expensive penthouse.

that's why i like vlad

What is there so much to like about greed and the desire to confine all the rest of the "garage" miners to get out of the game Huh
1211  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: LinuxCoin A lightweight Debian based OS with everything ready to go. on: April 10, 2012, 07:41:18 AM
I still think Linuxcoin could be useful if further developed.

This is mainly because it is small compared to BAMT ( 700 MB ) and always detects my GPUs.

Too bad developer does not have time for this and refuses to open source so somebody else can take his place. Sad

You says ok no problem you send it back ...
and after you didnt do it ... and now you mean i was unfair to you O.o

I did not demand anything from you but 2.5 BTC for 1 month which you agreed. You now claim to have sent "by mistake" 25 BTC to me and I gave you 10 months + 2 months bonus.

It was not me that forced you to sent me 1 million BTCs etc. Your mistake you gotta learn to face up to it.

I did my best to compensate but I won't give refund after you call me a thief, scammer, liar etc. and publicly make an idiot of me ...

I did give you what you paid for in the end, the ad is there and will be there for 1 year since 8 April 2012 till 8 April 2013.
1213  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Beware of scammers! on: April 08, 2012, 11:09:54 PM
my verifie again :
verifymessage 1JLM7SC1PM6rr5gRX9rvVvCLo9o7DUh9Hn HPZWEltpv1cnvP6YCk6ffE9FbF6XvxxZmyVCa2fZHSw6wALXZUZzuZ54WScmGTTnKgMJ96x5DjObguV+gOBVjxw= "Smart1985 mybitcointrade.com"

And you know it before you get a transaction ( before the block was found with them ) ... liar
And the deal was only one Month for 2,5 BTC

send Pay Back 22 BTC to : 1PpfNWARwRuU5t8ZkgsU9wpyXyRxRKNxQq

Just more proof he is trying to deface my image and again publicly calls me a liar, thief, scammer, conman ( insulting ) after HE made the mistake and I tried my best condition to fix it Huh

He drags other people I worked with into this when the problem clearly is between me and him.

My response :

"It would be nice if he tried and cooperate with me in regards to this matter.

Instead he goes on BTC-E screaming "scammer", insulting me and trying
to make me look like a thief.

He now goes on the forum (
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=483.180 ) again trying to look
like a victim and make me look a fool.

Please read my full post on that thread.

I wasted 2 hours of my time trying to resolve this issue yet I am the
one that is repeatedly called a scammer.

I never scammed anyone and won't scam anyone for a couple of BTC.

He claims 25 BTC were sent by mistake. This could be anyone sending me BTC.

Even if he proves that he did indeed sent ( through PhotoShop ) then I
believe it goes against all the BTC principles.

Payments are not meant to be reversed. I did not force him to give me
anything. He makes a mistake.

In my job and in life if I make a mistake I get fired or worse. There
is no "going back" just like in BTC.

I am not to profit from his mistake here but I think my deal was fair.

We agreed initially 2.5 BTC = 1 month.

I get sent 25 BTC then I decide to give him 10 months + 2 months bonus
( total 1 year ) and also 2 hours of my time trying to resolve the
issue.

This is the best I can do in the circumstances, especially after he
did these unprofessional steps towards me ...

I feel sorry for him but maybe this will teach him a lesson so that
next time he is more careful.

I don't have to do a refund because he makes mistakes. Especially
after he takes it out on me publicly and calls me a liar, thief,
scammer in loads of places."

After :

-spending 2 hours on BTC-E trying to resolve it
-staying up late till midnight
-insulting me publicly here and on BTC-E ( liar, thief, scammer )
-involving some other acquaintances of mine ( that have absolutely no connection with this deal )
-giving him my best offer with 2 months added free
-all this because of HIS mistake and he takes it out on me
-involving sockpuppets like karl1982 and pigeons to downrate me and insult me publicly
-me putting the ad up as I was supposed to

I really don't know what exactly to believe ...

1216  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will $7.20 be the 2012 high? on: April 08, 2012, 10:54:59 PM
Supply halfs, demand same so price doubles.

Let's say the block reward change occurs on December 9th, 2012.  On December 8th there are 10,492,800 BTC issued and another 7,200 will be issued that day.  The "supply' comes from those 7,200 that miners don't keep plus a certain amount of the 10,492.800 BTC that those holding them are wishing to sell at whatever the current price is.

So demand does not drop in half, only the amount of currency inflation is what drops by half (from 7,200 BTC to 3,600 BTC).

Incidentally, in a market where the commodity is scarce, a doubling in demand causes the price to rise by way more than double.

You are forgetting the effect this news has on people Wink

Just like SoiledCon when King RealScam announced the change to cut reward the price doubled in the same day as people bought up the coins !
1217  Economy / Lending / Re: We need a bank! on: April 08, 2012, 10:53:22 PM

Thanks !
1219  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Beware of scammers! on: April 08, 2012, 10:39:24 PM
bulanula
keeping overpayment error for advertisement

22,5 BTC

Total BS. Attempt to discredit and insult my professionalism by a couple of trolls on BTC-E chat.

We had a informal deal for 2.5 BTC for my signature space for 1 month.

He claims he sent me by "accident" 25 BTC instead. No way to verify this claim. For all I know this could be from my aunt for Easter etc.

No overpayment at all.

Since the deal was 2.5 BTC for a month and he SUPPOSEDLY sent me 25 BTC ( could not verify it was really him / anyone can use PhotoShop ) I decided to do the right thing and give him 10 months ( as paid ) and also a bonus 2 months for a total of a year renting out my signature space.

I also wasted 2 hours talking to him about a solution in BTC-E chat ( without compensation from him at all ).

He made a mistake and he wants me to pay for it Huh

BTC payment is irreversible. That is the whole point otherwise I would be using USD. There are no "mistakes" and "accidents" in BTC; just like in life if you screw up you face up to the fact and move on. Mistakes costs. And now I have to pay for it Shocked

I offered him all I could but I will not refund because it defeats the point of BTC. I never forced him to give me 25 BTC at all. I never held a gun to his head. All I asked is 2.5 BTC for my signature ad space for a month. He sends me 1 million BTC by "mistake" then who is the one to blame ?

Suddenly I see 25 BTC coming and he says I am scammer. If I was scammer I would have taken the BTC ( they are still here and not moved by me http://blockchain.info/address/1Bu1424Lf7y3Jz9p4ZyCo2mRSQDwdaXrHa ) and gone off this forum and also not spent 2 hours trying to get some cooperation from him in BTC-E chatroom and work out a solution. I would not scam for 22 BTC Cheesy

You can see the signature is present below in red so I kept my end of the deal.

Don't understand what all the fuss is about really ...

We agreed informally 2.5 BTC for 1 month. I see 25 BTC coming in. He claims it was his mistake. I do my best offer of 10 months ( paid ) + 2 months ( bonus ) for a total of 1 year and also 2 hours BTC-E support talking to him about solution.

TBH all I agreed to was 1 month of space in my signature on this forum for 2.5 BTC. He sends me 25 BTC "by mistake" it is his problem not mine. I could do just one month and that is that but I am trying to be fair and work out a solution. He comes in public BTC-E chat calls me a scammer after I spent 2 hours trying to see a solution.

I await this video with great patience.

Hopefully the price will go to $5 again as a result, too Cheesy
