2941  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How much would it cost right now to attain 50% of the network? on: May 17, 2011, 05:23:15 PM
Come on people don't be fooling yourselves. Some government agency could bring this whole project down in the time it takes to generate a block ( roughly ten minutes ).

If deepbit.net can do it then the US gov. or even somebody like Google can mess this up pretty quickly and make it unprofitable in a second.

Don't just say they can, tell us how.

LOL are you joking ?

This whole gimmick network can be taken over pretty quickly.

Do you really think that the US gov. could not defeat some gamers in their basements with ATI cards etc. !

Military technology is years ahead of that available to mere civilians. The NSA are talking about building exaflop computers already etc.

Not to mention a huge budget of billions of dollars. Geeks will never match that.

Even the Chinese have them ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tianhe-I#Tianhe-1A does about 4.7 petaflops and bitcoin has about 25 petaflops total hashing power ) ! Keep in mind that all this is released to the public but behind closed doors they have supercomputers that are for the military and many times ( 10x even ) stronger than what universities have etc.

LOL again !

2943  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: You are threatening Bitcoin’s security on: May 17, 2011, 04:38:23 PM
Come on guys we all know you are in this for the $$$. If bitcoin gets attacked the least you would care once you have your BTC all converted to $$$ !

If people would care at all about Bitcoin and its security they would stop mining at deepbit.net monopoly but as you can see they all care about the moneyz !
2944  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Laptop/Desktop expansion mining w/ desktop cards with an external PCIe enclosure on: May 17, 2011, 04:34:40 PM
Very interesting project. Waiting for somebody clever enough to work this all out and tell us how it is done exactly.

Most laptops take about 90W-120W for the whole system.

Say the card takes 200W + 120W = 320W for a system mining with one 5870 or 6950 etc.

I'd like to see you doing that with a normal desktop !

How will Bitcoin work when refunds are not allowed. IMHO that is not good and will slow adoption.

2949  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Best Battery Backup for Your Rigs? on: May 15, 2011, 06:53:03 PM
Don't forget to make sure that your internet connection has backup power as well, and you may want to check that your internet provider has it at your local exchange, otherwise you can put as much backup power as you can into your rig, but if you can't connect to the net it's a waste of money.

Finally somebody with a bit of logic !
2950  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Another card or buy bitcoins? on: May 14, 2011, 02:41:42 PM
INVEST !

Mining will soon become unprofitable because of extreme difficulties. I expect about 300 000 difficulty next. Just look how deepbit.net hashing speed rate increases every minute now and deepbit is about 50% of the whole network.
2951  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: YouTube Video: Bitcoin Mining: Three Months Later on: May 14, 2011, 01:37:28 PM
LOL you have made your fortune using BTC !

Had 25 000 so that is about 250 000 considering 1 BTC = 10 USD.

Nice !

Care to explain what hardware you are using ?

Thanks !
2952  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Stealthcoin on: May 13, 2011, 10:03:44 AM
GPU and pool mining support would really spice this project up.
Can you even make it so we can mine with the GPU and the CPU at the same time ?
Or maybe let us configure how "hard" the program goes on the CPU load and user experience ?

Thanks !
2953  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How long will it take to mine 1,000 Bitcoins at 3Ghps? on: May 10, 2011, 07:46:23 PM
What rig do you plan on using for this goal ?
