...
Thank you for sending coin. please confirm my batch for minerd is correct also what can i do to actually solve a block its very frustrating and although i am skilled at pool mining i never attempted to mine solo.  is there a way i can check to make sure i  am actually mining. No errors in the minerd command line but i did receive coin so at least that works

Using the minerd client, run it without the -q option (-q as in quiet)
If you are mining from within the Blakecoin-qt wallet, run the command "getmininginfo" without quotes in the console. There you will eventually see hashes per sec, so you can see that you are in fact mining.

Very interesting, fun to have a new algorithm.
Will give this a try even though the diff is high and climbing.

Any news for Maples? Planned updates? Going for an exchange soon?
Just curious to know what the future holds for Maples, I like it and would like to see this coin grow.

Who wants some free Maples ?

I am giving away 48 MPL to each of the first 3 who post a screen shot proving that you have solo'd 5 blocks since the time stamp on this message.
....

Hey, posting a screeny bellow. Could use a few more maples as my machine mines so slow!
Big thanks!

Interesting to see what 1000€ could provide.
1371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PPL] PeopleCoin | Scrypt | PoW/PoS | No Premine on: September 18, 2013, 08:24:38 AM
Beware, all my mined PPL coins was automatically sent to a strange address "PPVFXzdxcH5TpGCLCUXPyCQkdu4RQ5xfNQ".

PPL client was downloaded from Github and compiled under Linux so i think the PPL Devs are secretly stealing the coins.

.........

That would seem like a very sinister trick;

1) Launch new coin with 0 diff
2) Get many users to start mining
3) Steal confirmed coins
4) ??
5) Profit!

I think i'll be staying away from this coin...

1373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [HOW-TO]Secure your VPS's - stop thiefs on: August 19, 2013, 09:04:40 PM
That's a good practice to prevent roots login over ssh, and should be encouraged for anyone running a linux server.
But this would not stop an admin at the VPS datacenter from snooping around or accessing your files on disk?

Where do I order this without the hardware? :3

It's ecoinomist's own custom build; http://ecoinomist.com/weather-proof-gpu-litecoin-mining-rig-pictures Really great looking cases I might add.

1378  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: XFX 7950 Mining Very Hot (85° @430khash, 95°+ @ 530khash)? on: May 27, 2013, 04:30:31 PM
I too had heat problems with the XFX 7970 while mining cgminer --scrypt, getting like <500kH/s and 75-85o with auto-fan and temp target=85. Basically the fans where running 50%-100%.

Then I read on another forum that the card performs better for mining SHA-256 but I have not verified this.

If possibly try looking into getting other cards, or use the XFX as a furnace and keep your house warm  Wink
1379  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Should I run my $12,000 Mac Pro Xeon as a rig? Worth it? on: May 27, 2013, 04:15:27 PM
CPU mining is as others have mentioned not worth it, and GPU mining on OSX is not as good as on Windows or Linux due to limitations in OpenGL for OSX. From the cgminer readme; http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/README:

Quote
Q: Can I mine with cgminer on a MAC?
A: cgminer will compile on OSX, but the performance of GPU mining is
compromised due to the opencl implementation on OSX, there is no temperature
or fanspeed monitoring, and the cooling design of most MACs, despite having
powerful GPUs, will usually not cope with constant usage leading to a high
risk of thermal damage. It is highly recommended not to mine on a MAC unless
it is to a USB device.

That being said, if your costs are nearly 0, well sure you could make some coins in the long run, but your machine is not the fastest when it comes to mining.
1380  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is an Asic from butterfly labs worth buying? on: May 27, 2013, 03:54:26 PM
Disclaimer: I ordered a 5 GHs unit couple of months ago.

Is Butterflylabs a scam? Well they sure have raked in lots in pre-orders but delivered very few units. My choice was to get a unit and wait and see. From an investment point of view, it probably would have been wiser to have bought some coins and traded. Basically ordering a asicminer - especially on preorder - is to just pray that you get your box before the difficulty shoots through the roof. Otherwise you'll be sitting there with a nice paper weight.

Ordering/bidding on an ebay-unit is just asking for trouble and is not something I would recommend. These people probably don't have a unit and are hoping to scam others who can't/don't want to wait for shipments.
