Hey upstart7,

I saw this on the hashtalk.org forum: Quote from GAW_CEO, posted yesterday:
Quote
Late payouts
Hello,

As you know, some of the payouts were late and even still pending.

Our payout servers were completely overloaded today, this what caused the delay. Rest assured, you will get your payout. The system is just back logged.

We are completely revamping our payout system tonight. This should prevent delays like this in the future.

Please do not PM me directly for support. Please open a ticket a: support.gawminers.com

If your payouts are incorrect or missing, I would recommend you to check the support.
I received two payouts the other day, the payout system appeared to be borked and really slow.

I know this is not much of a help, but wait and see for a day or two and if the problems persist, then definitely make a new support so their staff can help you.

We are also awaiting a SHA256 announcement.
Eager to see what this brings us.
1243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Malicious mining in my computer facility on: September 05, 2014, 01:27:14 PM
1) It is not very likely that you can track down an individual based on a crypto address. You would need more things to go by, say a shipping address if the coins have been spent somewhere. If you know what currency was being mined, try looking for a Block explorer and see if the coins can be traced somewhere. Maybe an exchange?

The forensics make this kind of tracing hard, but not impossible. You could try to reach out to the community behind the coin for further help.

2) You need to ask yourself how your security was compromised.
- Do you have many people accessing these machines?
- Do you have external services running?
- Is everything up to date?
- Where they miners running as a specific user? Admin/Root or a unprivileged account?
- Many antivirus software suites will block CPU miners as malicious software, do you have something like this installed?
- Check old logs if you have them, try to find out who and/or when the software was installed. If no logs are available, what has happened to them?
- For Linux it is trivial to setup an external box that duplicates system/access logs, so even if a host machine is compromised the logs are intact on the second box. I do not know about Windows, perhaps this is possible to do.
- If the software was installed externally, consider wiping your boxes and going over the security of your network.

These where some things just off the top of my head, there are probably tons more to check and do, but start looking for tracks and locking down your boxes.

Updated:

Just got first payout:

25 Mh x 0.00062926 would be 0.01573; however my payout was .0100 @ 9:16 am EST
Did not see mention of fees.

Not much transparency in how payouts are made. I understand each Mh has a fee of 0.08 for a total of $2 in my case per day. But again I cannot see any detailed break down from the dashboard.

For your first day the hashlet does not have a mining/service fee. I assume that the hashlet was not running 24h, hence the reduced payout for day 1?
You will most likely see a higher payout for the second day and the mining fees included. Check under the tab "Balance" and you will see all activities and transactions.
1245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Genesis Mining New Pricing vs GAW Mining Hashlets on: September 04, 2014, 08:43:53 PM
Looks like GAW's idea was good since the competition is trying to launch a similar product.

Things that struck me in this comparison:
Hashlets are tradable, and they are planning to make this even easier in the future.
You can sell your Hashlet whenever you want and the prices have risen in the last few weeks so people who bought early Hashlets have already reached ROI.
Hashlet's fees are supposed to decrease in time to keep it profitable.
You don't accept credit card payments, so there's no chance of getting the money back if you guys decide to bail.

*shameless plug*
You may buy Hashlets at GAWMiners.com, pay with your credit card and recieve an activation code. You can then use this code at https://cloud.zenminer.com where you then activate your new miner.

So yes you can pay with your credit card if this feels more secure. This is how I have purchased my hashlets, no problems at all. Although when GAW announced their new hashlets the site was swamped and it took a few hours to get the codes.

Just for the fun of it, use the like above and I'll see that you can get 1.5% off your order.
If your order is completed, GAW pays a small commission for affiliates. Once the payout is complete, I'll pay you back your 1.5% in BTC.  Smiley

The wallet is looking great elambert!
Do you know whether the syncing works faster with this wallet? I know that syncing the blockchain on osx is very painful... takes forever on my machines. For whatever reason the syncing is a couple of magnitudes faster on windows (vs osx) on my lan.

Are there plans for making a lightweight client similar to multibit for BTC, eg the blockchain sits on a central server and not on the users machine. This feature would be mighty handy if we would make a CGB wallet for our mobile devices.  Cool
1247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: GAWMiner Hashlet Discussion Thread on: September 04, 2014, 03:51:45 PM
Multihaslet, maybe brown, i guess!!!!!
you cannot change the pool of a Hashlet Solo, it sticks with the pool you bought it for, in your case Multipool Wafflepool (is the brown one)

What happens if the operator of Wafflepool shuts down the site?  I didn't really understand the price increase just for the ability to switch pools or stay on one pool.

Did GAW make deals with the pool operators?  Like Clevermining and Wafflepool?  It hasn't made sense to mine SCRYPT on Wafflepool in a long time, or am I missing something?

Most people are accepting that they are being pointed at the "Zenpool" and getting payouts; but if they are buying the WaffleHashlet then it's mining on the Wafflepool as SCRYPT?  Which is currently showing 75% profitability vs LTC?

If a pool shuts down what happens to your miner pointed at it?  I'm sorry if this has been answered somewhere, I haven't seen it.

AFAIK all hashlets are mining on the ZENpool, however, if your hashlet is a "Clevermining" hashlet, your payouts are set to match the payouts of Clevermining. So your hashlet is in fact not mining on the Clevermining multipool. As the payouts differ from day to day on all pools, the payouts are set to whatever this level is. Now should a third party pool close, then I assume that GAW will "convert" the hashlet to another 3rd party multihashlet, e.g. make all Clevermining hashlets to Wafflepool hashlets. All they need to do is change the payments for the affected miners to match that of another 3rd party pool.

As the hashlets become more advance perhaps they will be able to be pointed to an arbitrary 3rd party pool, but for now the user gets to choose the pool upon purchase of the selected Solo hashlet.
1248  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Genesis Mining New Pricing vs GAW Mining Hashlets on: September 04, 2014, 11:36:03 AM
...
I have purchased about 50 MHs at GAW for $800-something, (but getting the same today would be about $1050), while this would cost me roughly $2200 at Genesis.
....

Thanks for the comments.

When you refer to paying $800 for 50 MHs, I gather you mean the hashlets at $16.99 which are now the hashlet primes or did you purchase an Asic??

Anyway if they were hashlet primes then now they would be worth almost 2000 USD, so that was quite a good saving for you Smiley

...

Yes, I bought my hashlets a little more than two weeks ago when the then Hashlet was 16.99 $/MH. I started with 1 or 2 MH, but added more as they seemed to perform well and the payouts started to trickle in. They were recently converted to Primes, so I'm holding on to them and am eager to see what waits ahead in terms of alternative mining algorithms and payouts.

To date they have payed out almost 22% of my initial investment, but I expect that the payout rate will decrease. I'll be happy if the hashlets reach a ROI within 90 days (currently looking at 70-ish days from my estimation).
1249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Genesis Mining New Pricing vs GAW Mining Hashlets on: September 04, 2014, 10:40:43 AM
I had a look at Genesis and saw the larger price difference in terms of $ per MH for the smaller contracts. I have purchased about 50 MHs at GAW for $800-something, (but getting the same today would be about $1050), while this would cost me roughly $2200 at Genesis.

As it stands today I would go with GAW again, but if the prices started coming down at Genesis then maybe I would consider them as well. In the end it boils down to ROI, and as long as the payouts from GAW exceed the service fee of 8 cents per MH, the hashlet would continue to give small payouts for its lifetime.

The competition benefits all miners though, as the diff increases 50MHs won't be worth that much in a half years time, my hope is to make a ROI and let the hashlet keep on running. If/when I do in fact make my money back, I will be checking back and see how Genesis are doing and if their offers are competitive to the others in the mining field.
1250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: GAWMiner Hashlet Discussion Thread on: September 04, 2014, 10:19:31 AM
So the only benefit for the Hashlet Prime is the fact you can change pools and they "might" introduce new algorithms?

Did everyone who bought the standard Hashlet get upgraded to a Prime? If so, it really makes me think it's not worth the money. To go from $16 to $40 for no reason..

Yes everyone who had the standard hashlet before the new ones came along got their hashlets upgraded to Prime.

I do wonder the same although we could all get surprised in the coming days, as there must be a good reason why it is more expensive compared to a zen hashlet.

It makes no sense at the moment, as the zen pool is the most profitable pool anyway, so why would you want to switch it to anything else.

Exactly, I want to buy but I feel like I'm being ripped :/

Should I buy a zen, prime or just buy more BTC? I was gonna do it for a bit of a hobby/laugh to be honest as I used to mine but have nothing to "keep and eye on" these days.

If I where to get some more Hashlets today I would probably go for the ZenHashlet Solo rather than shelling out for a Prime. As you said above, the price diff between the two is too big right now. However that being said, when we get to find out what is planned for the Primes (scrypt-n mining is rumored), perhaps they will be a better alternative later on. But paying 2x for a Prime compared to a Zen Solo is speculating that something better is to come.
1251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Dumb Newbie question on: September 03, 2014, 12:49:35 PM
I have a desktop computer that is on 24/7 for various reasons.

I figured that using this computer to mine altcoins might be a useful way to learn about this at a low cost without investing in a system.  I know I don't even have a chance with bitcoin as one needs a heavy investment to mine, and I am just looking for a somewhat liquid coin that I could learn about digital wallets and so on without getting burned if I am scammed.

Hi drgon,

I suggest that you look into one or more crypto-currencies that are X11, X13, X15 based. If you have a somewhat modern graphics card (Nvidia/AMD), try using this to do the mining rather than your CPU. The reason for using these algorithms is that SHA256 and sCrypt have or will require asics for mining, so there is no point is mining them with your home PC.

You could choose any coin just for the fun of learning, but maybe take a look at Darkcoin the first X11 coin, with new privacy features being incorporated. Even mining away and getting a few coins every month could turn out to be profitable for you.
1252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PROOF that GAWMiners Hashlet Is Not A Miner on: September 02, 2014, 12:42:57 PM
From what I understand, the Haslet is a virtual miner. I believe that GAW has pooled a bunch of hardware and are selling off software based virtual slots, e.g. Hashlets, similar to what Droplets are to VPS. They sold off so many hashlets that they had to temporary stop sales and are currently expanding the mining hardware side of things, in order to increase the number of haslets available for sale.

Mining profitability is good, price increase due to the low availability has also made the hashlets a good deal with a price increase from $16 to $40.
1253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL] Auto profit switch with exchange to BTC - YAAMP.COM on: September 01, 2014, 03:11:27 PM
I've have had yaamp as my default #1 pool for the past few weeks.
Really like the stability and the payments are OK. Keep up the great works!

I see that the amount of hashing power has quadrupled  in the past days. Looks like people are moving their miners to yaamp, as the payout rate on poolpicker is showing yaamp to the most profitable x11 multipool right now.

Please explore a new payment processor. CGB should be accepted here: http://casheer.net/
Here is a forum to make requests: http://forum.casheer.net/viewforum.php?f=15

Reminder to all, post a request for adding CGB to http://casheer.net/ this weekend.

Really nice looking cards FiniteByDesign!

I heard somewhere that companies who make BTC coupons/vouchers/promocards etc can have them valid for 30 days or so. If the vouchers are not redeemed, the funds are paid back to the issuer. I am not sure how this is done, but maybe a Google search could provide more help.
1256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CryptoBiz Magazine Cover! | Cryptogenic Bullion | CGB on: August 28, 2014, 01:56:00 PM
Very nice, how do you make the 1 CGB expire in a month I wonder...

At this point, simply click on the ‘Help’ tab and select ‘Debug Window’ from the dropdown. In the ‘Debug Window’, select ‘Console’. Type in the below command and press enter to import the funds to your personal wallet for safekeeping.

importprivkey “12345678901234567890”

I think this is a bit complex for the lamen, we need a dedicated menu option to 'import private key' in the client - no messing about in Debug windows  Smiley

While reading this procedure, I totally agree with FiniteRed, that most people will not go through with the setup. The average person would probably quit before the blockchain has downloaded, especially on a mac... (For some reason downloading the blockchain is 100x faster on windows compared to my macs.)

I second the suggestion for a better alternative way of importing funds to your wallet. Perhaps a selection in the menus would be helpful.
Even better would be having a phone wallet and simply scanning a QR-code with a password could import the funds to a new account. I have no idea if this is feasible or not, but our dev could perhaps look into alternative ways of importing funds to ones wallet.

I have received a pay out in HP ( 5 hashpoints ) . What can you do with HP?

When purchasing another Hashlet, your HashPoints can be used to reduce the price of your product.
I think 1 HashPoint equals to 0.1 mBTC.
1258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: GAWMiner Hashlet Discussion Thread on: August 27, 2014, 02:40:34 PM
I see that the payout for Wednesday was 0.0379 BTC for my account (52 MH), which is higher then the previous day, but overall smaller considering 12h with 2x hashing rate. It must be that the payouts for the scrypt mining have been lower, thus the overall higher, yet reduced payout/hashrate on a day to day basis.

Edit: For instance the LTC/BTC price dropped a bit yesterday, this could be a partly explanation for the lower than expected payouts.
1259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: GAWMiner Hashlet Discussion Thread on: August 27, 2014, 12:03:54 PM
Looks like the 12h double hashing promo is over now. My guess is that the payouts will begin shortly.
I had the same delays yesterday, but they showed up a little late, no worries.
1260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CryptoBiz Magazine Cover! | Cryptogenic Bullion | CGB on: August 26, 2014, 02:32:31 PM
...
... only 16 CGB is being mined each day ...

Ah that would make sense for the pools then. No point in supporting a coin with a low volume. Nevertheless, if the big players are leaving CGB alone, that should make it more interesting for the grass roots and enthusiasts.
