241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WILL BITCOIN BE REGULATED ON THE LONG RUN? on: December 08, 2017, 12:24:39 AM
I am not sure what kind of regulation you are talking about. There isn't really any way to regulate Bitcoin itself. If you are talking about regulating companies that accept and transact in Bitcoin, then yes, there are and there will certainly be more regulations in place. The U.S. government, for example, seems to already be regulating exchanges that handle Bitcoin just as if it were real money. Two examples that come to mind are Coinbase and Bittrex, both exchanges that I have used before. Coinbase allows for dollar-cypto exchanges and as such, they were forced to hand over information to the government and follow KYC regulations. This isn't really shocking considering that holding dollars is no different than being a customer's bank. What was surprising, however, was that Bittrex was forced to do the same even though they do not enable customers to deposit or withdraw, or even exchange to and from fiat. The fact that they are now required to follow KYC regulations means that the government sees the value of Bitcoin; perhaps not as a currency but as an asset, but valuable regardless. So to answer your question, yes, Bitcoin regulation is and will continue existing.

A small heads up to anyone looking into this website: I do not know for sure whether OP here actually is a staff member at the forum that he is promoting, but do not that this is most likely either a hacked account or a sold account. I somehow missed the negative trust when he initially posted here. I would be wary of using the other forum if he is, indeed, a staff member, as information such as BTCTalk login information could be stolen from you if you use the same information there (which you should avoid doing anyway). It is likely that the forum is being promoted for his own benefit; perhaps to try to profit off it as he sees the income that can be obtained from these forums in advertisements. Stay away.
My bitcointalk account was compromised last year but I had recovered it soon after that. I own freecointalk.org and I have kept it ad free so far and I plan to put up ads if cost to run the forum arise but so far there haven't been much costs. Bitcointalk is receiving donations and still running ads and no one complains as it is their right to earn money for their hardwork.

I recommend that members use unique passwords. But, if anyone doesn't trust me then don't bother to register. I'm not forcing anyone.
One thing is that I'm owner of Dailyfreebits.com that is one of the oldest paying bitcoin faucet(3.5 years), I made this community mainly for my faucet members although all are welcome to participate.

If you are, indeed, the original owner of the account and have some sort of evidence to back it up, you should contact the people who have given you trust saying otherwise. As it currently stands, it does not look good to have the owner of a forum or website having negative trust for having had the account compromised. Something like signing a message from one of the older addresses usually does it, as it means that unless you colluded with the hacker, you are indeed the original owner of the account. If you no longer have access to any of your old Bitcoin addresses or if you use an online wallet that does not give you direct access to your private keys, then you are probably out of luck unless you can find another way of proving it.
243  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The confirmation of the payment is more then 24 hours delayed on: December 07, 2017, 11:52:35 PM
Check out this website: https://btc.com/stats/unconfirmed-tx

There you can see what the recommended transaction fee which is currently around 360 satoshi/byte, which is the most it has ever been since I started checking. The network is basically completely congested right now. Unless you have some urgent business you need to transact Bitcoin for, I would just let the coins sit where they currently are. Problems like this are supposed to be resolved when the Lightning Network gets fully released live. To see the current status of the mempool you can check out this page: https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/. As you can see, you have to scroll down before even being able to see most of the transactions.
244  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinmarketcap Telegram Bot on: December 07, 2017, 01:18:47 AM
According to your requests we've updated the work of the bot:
1. Now, when creating a notification, top 10 coins according to coinmarketcap.com are available for fast choice. The data are updated every day.
2. The option of single notification setting is added.  It works out only once and is deleted automatically.
3. Single notifications may be created for any currency in unlimited amount. Monitoring may be set for both increase and decrease of the price.
4. Single notifications differ from regular ones for your convenience.
5. Now you can see the division into two types of notifications - single and regular - in menu "My notifications".
Enjoy the usage and stay with us  Smiley

I just got the Telegram message with the update and tried out the new single notification feature. I like it, but I would also suggest making it so that outside of a certain "cooldown period," it tells you every time that Bitcoin makes it pass the threshold. For example, if I set a notification for 15K, I would like to both receive a notification for when it rises past that mark and if it stays there for a while (or if it rises significantly above that, such as 15.5K) then I would automatically receive a notification about it automatically, kind of like with the regular notifications already in place. Of course, this is kind of a specific request and I am not sure how many people would actually need it, but it's there in case you feel like doing it.
245  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer - mixing reinvented on: December 07, 2017, 01:06:44 AM
ddos attack? something going on with server?  Huh
I'm getting ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT and sometimes 504 Gateway Time-out
or is it scheduled maintenance? but I don't see any announcement about it
I hope the site gets back online soon

It happens every once in a while. Unfortunately, given how much competition there is in the bitcoin mixing sector, it is impossible to effectively protect against a DDoS attack in a cheap and effective way, as these are very cheap to execute themselves but expensive to protect against, as the systems that would have to be in place for more than just basic null-routing cost a lot to maintain. It is better to just wait it out. ChipMixer has pretty good support and in case something happened to your transaction, your bitcoins should be fine.
246  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-12-06] Co-founder of Paypal speaks out on Bitcoin. on: December 06, 2017, 07:12:58 AM
Max Levchin, the co-founder of Paypal, has become the latest high-profile figure to speak out on Bitcoin. His words echo those of Michael Bloomberg from a few days ago; blockchain is the future, Bitcoin might not be.
Better than the Sum of its Parts
Blockchain technology has gone global in a very short space of time. From financial transactions to data storage and now, possibly, elections, its security and levels of anonymity are unparalleled in today’s technological context. Levchin told CNBC, “It’s a brilliant mathematical idea, fantastic technology, interesting commodity to speculate on. TBD on whether it’s a currency or just a way to make money fast.” More: https://coinblip.com/blog/levchin-bloomberg-debate-experts-weigh-bitcoin/

There is no question that the blockchain technology behind the currency we know as Bitcoin will be a good force into the future and it would be a life-changing technology that can affect many areas of our lives. Name any industry and we can be sure that it can be revolutionize using the blockchain. And right now, there are so many applications based on this innovation. No wonder there are people who are not inclined to support Bitcoin have expressed their approval with the blockchain.

Bitcoin has become a polarizing agent...either you love it or you don't. Definitely, because it is a financial instrument there are always risks associated with it as market can go down and up depending mostly on how the players can be reacting to anything happening at the present and what can be in the future. Personally, I am all supporting Bitcoin and am definitely sure that Bitcoin has a good future and all the problems it is facing now will eventually be solved. Of course, nobody can be so sure of what can be in the future.

This is not the first time I have seen an article pointing out how someone thinks the blockchain technology is going to be the future. The truth is that it has already been around for quite long since even before Bitcoin was first created. Many corporations already used shared ledgers (albeit perhaps not publicly) to resolve any disputes between them, especially in the fields of operations and logistics where multi-steps processes have to go through several different companies before arriving at its final destination. A manufacturing operation, for example, would hold a ledger starting from the supplier of the raw materials required to produce the product and add to the ledger until they sent it over to the actual manufacturer to fill in their part of the ledger and do their part of the work manufacturing the product before passing it on to the distributor which would then pass it on to the retailer store, all of this being recorded into the ledger using blockchain technology. The only new part comes when relating it to being public and to transferring wealth.
247  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Can I sell extra Steam keys here? on: December 06, 2017, 06:11:35 AM
To actually answer your question, yes, you are allowed to sell Steam keys. Do not that this is assuming that your keys were obtained through completely legal means and not through some fishy seller which may have used stolen credit cards or hacked Steam accounts to obtain the keys. Also if you bought from any of those sellers that sell "random Steam keys" for a very low price, note that while you are allowed to sell here, it will be heavily looked down upon. Those keys never turn up to be good games and are usually just a byproduct of buying some random bundle that they came with. The "random" tag is usually added just to hide the fact that nothing valuable will be found within them, as they are not actually random.
248  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Exchanges trading pairs? on: December 06, 2017, 02:05:42 AM
I don't see any need to add more pairs to the currently existing ones in any of the exchanges. Their volumes would not even come close to competing with the volumes of the more common trading pairs that include Bitcoin and Ethereum. If you ever want to trade between any 2 not-as-popular cryptocurrencies, there's not much of a difference going through any of the major ones and then trading for the other currency. The only benefit direct pairs would have is when it comes to fees, as you would only have to pay the trading fee once, but it is usually close to negligible unless you are day trading or making very big trades. I simply do not think that the benefits outweigh the negatives in this case.
249  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Smart DNS service for US content(Netflix, Hulu and a lot more) on: December 05, 2017, 09:15:03 PM
How does your service work, exactly? If I understand correctly, unlike other methods of working around the region restrictions of these streaming websites, you are not actually offering any sort of VPN service, but rather something related to DNS? I would love to know how this works, as the only possible way of using DNS for this purpose that I can think of is switching our own DNS servers to yours, which would translate the domain of the corresponding streaming site (Netflix.com, for example) to an IP address belonging to a U.S. server of that streaming website. That being said, I would still be skeptical of something like this working and would be surprised to find that there aren't any more checks done server-side to make sure that your own IP address was actually from the United States. I am more interested in the technical aspect than anything else, as I am inside the U.S. myself so this service would not actually change anything for me.

It's very simple actually
The DNS server itself does not need to be in the USA but the Proxy behind it
So the DNS will resolve any site normally except the ones in the zone file that will be redirected to the proxy to solve it

Ah, I see. So it works kind of like a conditional VPN/proxy where only the traffic to and from the domains in the zone file are resolved differently and connect to a proxy server which is the middle man between the user and the streaming service, correct? This would effectively limit the traffic going to the proxy to only the streaming requests.

Wouldn't this still be fairly taxing on bandwidth, however, as streaming is one of the heaviest uses for it? Or am I misunderstanding something?

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

251  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [SELLING] Make your Spotify account premium for $2.50 - Choose your own password on: December 05, 2017, 05:13:01 PM
This seems way too low of a price for what we're getting. How are you offering premium for such a low price if it is not like the other sellers here which most likely just have hacked or carded accounts to give out? At least some information about your method should come out, as right now the only way I can think of this being profitable to you is that you are actually using credit cards that are not yours, which is illegal and could also get the Spotify account holders in trouble. My speculation on this aside, if one were to buy the premium subscription from you, how would it be applied to the account? Would we have to give you access to our current Spotify account first or would it be done in some other way? Looking forward to a reply.

253  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Any exchanges with no ID requirement if no fiat involved? on: December 04, 2017, 04:34:57 AM
If you are willing to have the wallets of whichever cryptocurrencies you want to trade on your own computer, you can't go wrong with Shapeshift or Changelly. I have used both of these without a problem. The only issue with them is that not only do they not act as a wallet at all, but they also may have significant fees depending on which cryptocurrency you are trying to exchange since all of the trades have to be done in their corresponding blockchains. This means that if you are having to do trades often, it may not be the way to go.
254  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: FREE VPN [OS X/Windows] - WHOAMI VPN - 6 LOCATIONS - FREE NOW on: December 04, 2017, 12:54:37 AM
In the beginning of next month,  1-5 December new servers will be added. There will be at least added 1 server in each of these locations: Singapore, San Francisco, and Frankfurt.  We will add 1-2 more servers based on what the majority of our users want so please suggest one or multiple locations, thank you!

Are you looking for suggestions to add a server to an existing location or to add a server to a new location? In the former case, in my experience, Switzerland is one of the best locations you could possibly add servers to. I know for a fact that many people, especially those in Europe, use Switzerland along with the Netherlands for their VPN. In the latter case, I would like to suggest adding different locations inside Russia. Different places in Russia can result in much different latencies out of the sheer size of the country.

Yes, I am looking for suggestions to add more servers in new locations. Switzerland and Russia will have the highest priority as these locations seem to be very popular. Singapore will also be added. Unfortunately, we might not get these additional locations added before the end of December as we are getting a little delayed with the desktop client development.

In my opinion, and depending on the demographic that you are targeting, you should be placing more emphasis on the actual service than on the desktop clients. Of course, I do not actually know exactly what your development team is working on, but VPN clients already exist, and given how your VPN is OpenVPN-hosted, you could easily just use the OpenVPN client as the desktop client. You could also add features to your VPN service such as intranet communication before the internet (assuming you don't already support it).

everybody is welcome

Hey, I just wanted to let everyone who is interested in knowing what Bittrex is up to that I did end up having my account limited even though I reside in the United States. However, the process of getting your account upgraded is actually fairly easy. If you put in just your information without having to submit any documents, you already get enough verification to be able to withdraw up to around 0.4 BTC from your wallet. If you happen to have more than that in all of your coin wallets combined inside Bittrex, then you do have to either withdraw everything slowly every day or go up to the next verification level which I am not sure how long it takes. The first verification level only took me 10 minutes to get through and the identification part was basically instant. This is probably in big part because of my location, however, so it could vary.
256  Economy / Exchanges / Re: 【Bitcoin Debit Card UQUID】 Best Bitcoin and Altcoins debit card | 0% Fee Deposit on: December 03, 2017, 07:02:38 AM
Is it the issuing card still on hold?

I cannot verify first-hand, but from what I have seen, no one regardless of their place of residence is able to order a card from them. They also finished their ICO a couple of months ago and don't seem to have used those funds to help their case. At this point after all the broken promises they have announced and considering their site, after months of development, still consists mostly of broken English slapped onto a generic ICO template web page, I would stay as far away as possible from them even if they do start issuing cards again.
257  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer - mixing reinvented on: December 03, 2017, 06:57:07 AM
Good news! We have won first bitcointalk ads auction since weeks. Our rolling banner is coming back!

When we started smallest ChipMixer chip (1 mBTC) was worth $1.5.
Today Bitcoin price reached $10,000 which makes the smallest ChipMixer chip (1 mBTC) worth $10.
Should we introduce smaller chips?

My understanding is that the focus should be on btc while the USD equivalent should not matter. Now the 1mbtc is $10 and you intend to create smaller chips what certainty do we have that the price won't crash to the original position that it was at the inception of ChipMixer. It will then lead to inconsistencies and the likes. My suggestion is that the 1mbtc should still be maintained irrespective of the price and later when stability has been maintained that price might not go below certain point, decision can then be made to create lower chips.

I see your train of thought relating to why smaller chips would not make sense, but I disagree with your view that the price is not stable. You are right that we cannot be sure that Bitcoin will stabilize above $10K, but that is not the threshold ChipMixer is needing Bitcoin to hit. As they said themselves, they started off when Bitcoin was around $1000-$2000 each, and Bitcoin has already stayed above that value for quite a few months, which in my opinion is more than enough time for it to stabilize. While it may or may not be worth >$10K, it is definitely worth more that it originally was when the chips got introduced, which could be a valid reason to increase the minimum chip size. It does not have to be by a magnitude of 10. Even just halving the chip size could work.
258  Economy / Digital goods / Re: NiceVPS ★ Cheap Anonymous Bitcoin Hosting ✔ Fast & Protected VPS, VPN, Domains on: December 02, 2017, 06:19:53 PM
Due to my own negligence regarding sending too low of a fee during the Bitcoin craze, a transaction that I initiated to pay an invoice for a VPN a few days ago was only confirmed until now that the network is no longer congested. The invoice itself disappeared only today, as it kept saying unconfirmed for a while. I thought I should let you know that this may or may not get handled by your payment processing. I do not expect any of that Bitcoin back. I plan to try this again tomorrow now that the network seems to have calmed down and I'll make sure to post back here with my experience.

The money was added to your account balance. Sending coins with very low fees are problematic as unpaid invoices are deleted after 2 days. Thanks.

Of course, I blame no one but myself for that. Thank you for updating my balance manually. I have started using the VPN and I would say it is definitely faster than the average with less latency and better speeds. I also found that the connection was almost instant whereas with other providers it takes a few seconds to get connected through OpenVPN. I have submitted a ticket to support for port forwarding to my connection, so I have yet to see how that goes. Overall I am more than satisfied with what I'm getting and I would recommend it to others.
259  Economy / Services / Re: Do my online Econ 101 quiz for $15 in BTC on: December 02, 2017, 09:13:46 AM
I have finished a few economics courses in my university before and I highly doubt this is something you wouldn't be able to do yourself. Unless you literally spent the entire semester completely ignoring the course, you should not find the material to be hard. An introductory course to economics is something that even high schools offer as an early college elective nowadays.

Regardless, how long is the quiz and how much time do you expect it to take? I am not planning to do this for you myself, but this kind of information is expected if you want to strike a deal with someone.

Please, lay off that judgmental attitude. I've been working hard all semester. I haven't ignored the course.

If you already know the course, it shouldn't take that long. The length of the quiz I can only reveal in PM as I do not want to be dismissed for academic dishonesty after having someone from the school see this post.

If this is what you fear, then you wouldn't go this route trying to pass because you don't know who will be contacting you. By just the little information about the test you have there, some people would have known already the nature and even the exam you talking about just looking for evidence to back it up then nail you. Not everybody on the internet or forum like this would want to encourage behavior like this especially if he/she labored to get his own score.

I am not judging you, but I am saying be careful who you want to give more information about the test and more of your details.

Hmm, this is a fair point...

There is also the problem of someone with malicious intent who would just completely screw you over. Imagine paying something to someone only for them to open that quiz and flunk it for you. Sure, you could use escrow to make sure they don't get paid, but you would still end up losing out because the person decided to screw up your quiz and you would end up in a worse situation than you would have otherwise been in. What I'm really saying is that you really should be trying to do this yourself instead of relying on others. Assuming it is an online quiz, there are many online resources that you can use during it and should not have much trouble with it. What is the reason you want someone else to do it for you anyway?
