981  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Am I crazy to verify identity with cryptsy? Social Security #? Driver's license? on: July 08, 2014, 10:45:35 PM
I trust Cryptsy enough to let them hold my alts and such. However, I would in no way trust them enough to give them my SSN. Even if they don't mean to do anything bad with it, hackers may. Trust others not only by their willingness, but also by their ability to remain secure.
982  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Advice on paper wallet on: July 08, 2014, 10:41:14 PM
You choose great option to laminate paper wallet i must do it with mine, because this way they will last forever almost compare to paper alone
I really advise doing so. Spill something on that paper alone and you're done. Plus, laminating it gives it extra durability. Of course, you should always have more than one copy. You never know what might happen.
983  Other / Off-topic / Re: FIFA World Cup 2014!!! on: July 08, 2014, 10:38:09 PM
Argentina 0  Netherlands 9

and it would be the funniest world cup in the history  Cheesy  Cheesy

That would scare me I would say what the heck happened here
Although that's already happened once for me today so having two blue moons in a row would be something else
Expecting a normal game guys ! lol

Without Neymar, it was pretty obvious they had no chance. It wasn't obvious, though, that it would end up so bad.
984  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First Xapo Debit Cards to be mailed this month! on: July 08, 2014, 10:36:33 PM
Has anyone received their card yet?
They haven't even asked for a shipping address. At least they haven't asked me.
985  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ask Amazon for Bitcoin Payments on: July 08, 2014, 10:35:26 PM
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I've been buying Amazon gift cards and other items at Amazon (tracfone and airtime, etc.) with bitcoin at a 15-25% discount (!) thanks to Purse.io - well, around 13-23% discount once I replenish my BTC with fiat, but it's still a great deal.

i spend quite a bit on amazon with bitcoins, so this interests me. but ive always bee skeptical of discount marketplaces like this. are there buyer protections for those selling bitcoin/buying amazon purchases?
I have the same concerns. I've been using Gyft for my Amazon purchases, but I may switch to something like this if it looks promising.
986  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who Will Win the World Cup? on: July 08, 2014, 10:33:50 PM
Germany is definitely winning this. I simply don't see much potential in any other team besides Netherlands.
987  Other / Off-topic / Re: FIFA World Cup 2014!!! on: July 08, 2014, 10:32:53 PM
I expected Brazil to lose, just not by THIS much. Like, seriously.
988  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will I be able to use Bitcoins at the mall in 2014??? on: July 07, 2014, 10:04:04 PM
why are bit coiners so obsessed with retail? its such a small part of the economy?

But such a HUGE part of the public consciousness.

who are mostly not haveing money.

which retail adoption so far has seen any real increase in BTC value?

Lol nothing I suppose, Overstock might've helped a bit, but basically nothing. I suppose if the Xapo debit cards actually come out, since they're supposed to soon, would increase public attention, but I'm not sure.
Besides the email I received from them, I haven't seen any mentioning of Xapo anywhere. I doubt it would affect public's awareness of Bitcoin.
989  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Auto Send Wallet Feature: development on: July 07, 2014, 06:47:35 AM
The wallet would have to always be online for this to happen, unless the blockchain somehow allows for transactions to take place after a certain amount of time. Even in the latter case, the wallet would have to go back online every so often.
990  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Man Who Mistakenly Sent 800 BTC to Mt. Gox Address Recovers His Bitcoins on: July 06, 2014, 04:52:41 AM
It smells kind of fishy, I have my doubts about what actually went on. I'll read on the entire thing and see what I can come up with.
991  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk.org Extorting Users Privacy for Profit on: July 06, 2014, 04:32:35 AM
Theymos has already mentioned that this is to prevent spammers from coming back as well as ban evaders. Plus, think about it, the forum already makes well over the thousands a month. Do you really think they would care at all for $2 extra on profit? It is also much lower for others.
992  Other / Meta / Re: Question about signature campaigns (definition of a constructive post) on: July 06, 2014, 04:28:01 AM
I like answering to that with another question: Is any relevant information added to the thread? For example, if you go in a thread about how Neil Armstrong didn't actually go to the moon and you post something like "I want to go to the moon" or "Blue is a color" then that's obviously not constructive. In a thread where someone asks how to check your PMs on this forum where somebody already replied saying "Click where it says 'My Messages' to check them" and then you posting "They are under the 'My Messages' section" is not constructive, since you are quite literally repeating what has already been said. +1 posts and such are essentially the same concept.
993  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When mBTC will become the default denomination on: July 06, 2014, 04:22:28 AM
That would need change in the bitcoin protocol, and all nodes would need to agree. Bitcoin network is something relatively big, so changing things is hard and always with risk of failure. Its almost the same as changing ipv4 to ipv6, something that needs to be done, but there is already a whole system working with the old standard, so its hard to do.

I can only see it happening together with many others major changes, or if BTC price reaches the six digits
This is completely erroneous and false. Nodes don't have to agree on anything related to the default denomination, they communicate in the lowest denomination already (satoshis). In fact, the only thing needed is for the client to put mBTC as the default denomination. At the moment, it is not the default one in any, I believe, but it may soon be.

Who's hosting it?
995  Other / Off-topic / Re: FIFA World Cup 2014!!! on: July 06, 2014, 01:24:16 AM
I don't think having 10 defenders is worthy of respect, they intentionally tried to stall the game and win by penalties.

Stalling the game is pretty easy compared to actually playing to win, and CR did absolutely not play to win.

To claim that they played on equal grounds with the Netherlands would be exaggeration, the Dutch were dominating the entire match.

I guess that is true but when your facing a powerhouse your strategy doesn't change
Costa Rica always played a defensive type haven't really seen them offensive although I was expecting a Netherlands win in the end just wasn't expecting it to go to penalties.

Either way for Costa Rica, its World Cup has already been a triumph a new high score Smiley . Pura vida.
I agree here. Costa Rica's strategy did not change from other matches. Their playstyle is based mostly on being defensive and when the chance is found, try to quickly stab through their defenses with a few players and score. It didn't really look this way for most of the match because they simply had no good control of the ball until the very last 5 minutes in the second overtime half, where they noticeable did attack. Respect for the team.

On a side note, it amazes me how fast and resistant Robben is. It's like his blood is full of red bull.
996  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are you an optimist or pessimist after the auction? on: July 06, 2014, 01:18:52 AM
Optimist.

Lots of wall street type will pay higher price.

highly doubt it. i believe the whole thing about above market price was a lie.
if they realy paid that much , they would proove it instantly, and push the price up.
theyre covering up the facts, and that will lead to price drop  < 600$ til end of the month
sure hope im wrong, but doubt it.

Does not compute. Simply illogical.
Makes no sense in my eyes either. I don't get that they would "proove it instantly". (Assuming "prove")
997  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has anyone got any of the bitcoin ATM cards already? on: July 06, 2014, 01:16:39 AM
Same as many above, I got the email from Xapo. Even though I have an account with them, I have no clue on their reputation or who they are. Any feedback would be more than welcome.
998  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People need to stop calling Bitcoin "a virtual currency" on: July 05, 2014, 09:01:56 PM
"Virtual" just reminds me of money in online games, mostly MMOs. It has the connotation that it is one-way (that is, you pay fiat for them but can't convert them back to fiat). They also make you think they can't be used for anything outside of a limited environment, which obviously isn't the case with bitcoin.
999  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Selling cheap webhosting as low as $9/Year! BTC Gladly accepted. on: July 05, 2014, 07:05:47 AM
I dare somebody to read the testimonials in the website and tell me they look real. I know most websites don't have real front page testimonials, but at least they try to hide this fact.  Roll Eyes
1000  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and gift cards. on: July 04, 2014, 11:47:45 PM
Are theese cards good or bad for bitcoin? Are business like amazon avoiding accep bitcoin with this cards?
A lot of people change their bitcoins for gift cards when they need buy something. They can do it, but are they hurting bitcoin or helping it?

Well, Amazon for example still has incentive to accept bitcoin over giftcards. They get a much higher total amount of profit from a theoretical direct bitcoin purchase over a gift card or credit card purchase.
Why would they have an incentive to accept bitcoin over their own branded gift card? I would argue the opposite. Once a gift card is paid for Amazon will have zero incremental costs in accepting the gift card as payment. They know 100% that the money is there.

Because when you buy a gift card through Gyft or another company you're getting few percent off the value and the company selling the gift card has to make a profit as well. So Amazon is selling them to the company at a pretty large discount relative to what they would be paying if they used BitPay to directly accept bitcoin(around 1% I think).
Actually, while most companies do take off a certain percent, Gyft doesn't. In fact, you get bonus points which you can redeem for even more gift cards.
