What the hell is a tether even?
Tether, a virtual currency that is supposed to be tied — or tethered — to the value of a dollar. Customers can buy Tether coins on Bitfinex and then transfer them to other virtual currency exchanges, providing a way to move dollars between countries without going through banks. Tether has also become a very popular way to buy Bitcoin. In recent weeks, a few hundred millions dollars’ worth of Tether has changed hands on a daily basis across several exchanges, according to data on CoinMarketCap.com. Tether and Bitfinex have insisted that the two operations are separate. But leaked documents known as the Paradise Papers, which were made public this month, show that Appleby, an offshore law firm, helped Mr. Potter and Mr. Devasini, the Bitfinex operators, set up Tether in the British Virgin Islands in late 2014. One persistent online critic, going by the screen name Bitfinex’ed, has written several very detailed essays on Medium arguing that Bitfinex appears to be creating Tether coins out of thin air and then using them to buy Bitcoin and push the price up. EDIT: From NY Times.

The most expensive I've seen for purchase were all south of 100k. Read a few articles about >100k auctions, but there's no way for me to really confirm those anyways, so eh.
Wouldn't be surprised if there were ~300k bottles around though, given the rarity of some bottles and the ridiculous lumps of cash that some people have.
At least in ~10-20 years every Bitcoin will get me one of those.
Bowmore 1957 is up there: http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/20459/lot/84/I like how the "similar items" are dinosaur fossils. I would love to have the triceratops skull, not much of a Whisky man, but I do like fossils

Wow, so much is happening...
So it seems Bitcoin Gold (BTG) is doing well. I guess it's that time of the year again, when I have to fire up my TREZOR and split my coins to get my BTG airdrop.
And now I read about another airdrop, Bitcore (BTX)! How come I missed that?
My plan is this:
1. Create a new recovery seed in TREZOR and move my BTC there. 2. Do the Bitcoin Gold (BTG) splitting on the old (empty of BTC) recovery seed. 3. What do I do to claim my Bitcore (BTX)?
If anyone knows the procedure for BTX, please let us know, I'm sure many of us have the same question.
Thanks!
Go back about 1-2 pp. Thanks. I did read the pages earlier, but felt the info was a bit confusing on what to do. I read them again now, and I think all info needed is contained in the following steemit page: https://steemit.com/crypto-news/@xwerk/bitcore-btx-guide-the-2nd-snapshot-for-btc-hodlers-free-btx-or-how-it-worksWill empty my current wallet (seed) of all coins first, and then do the BTG and BTX splitting. Will let everyone know what happened, so that anyone wanting to do the same can have some reassurance on the correct procedure to follow. You might wanna wait until the 17/12, Smartbitcoin forks on that date and you might be able to get three coins instead of two. http://www.supersmartbitcoin.com/index.html

Give us your BTC private keys. What could possibly go wrong ? How do you claim all the fork coins if you don't expose your private keys? First move all your coins to a new address so the old private key is no longer needed for BTC. This is a safety measure. Then use the old private key to 'sweep' the coins into a Wallet. Coinomi on android is good for this task - can confirm for both Bitcoin gold and Bitcore. So..We are on the same page then? What you wrote above doesn't contradict what I wrote. Sweeping to Coinomi also exposes your private key, and only sweeping empty wallets/addresses goes without saying. Besides, if you have Coinomi you can sweep Bitcore just like you can BTC and BTG. Thats what I did. You get 50% of what's in there.

http://astrohacker.com/ahc/bitcoin-is-the-economic-singularity/After reading this, the scale of black market and digital economies and the effect Bitcoin will have on them I am pretty certain we are going to be very wealthy men -- even with a sum as small as 10 Bitcoins. It's just so hard to believe. We are only in the beginning storms with these significant rallies from 10 to 20 dollars. I will not be surprised to see prices from hundreds to thousands in the coming months. The world just isn't going to be the same and we have been blessed as the pioneers. What are you going to do with your Bitcoin wealth once your coins hit upwards of $10,000 a pop? It is really curious that OP is not a forum member any more. He probably became so wealthy that wanted to delete any trace of his identity. It is a pity that the article he was quoting has also disappeared. Anyway, he was a visionary. We are going to reach $10.000 soon probably, maybe even this year. It is not 100% sure but if it happened none of us would be surprised. The question is, will people starting to get into bitcoin nowadays be also part of the new wealthy elite in the future? It seems unlikely future returns will be as high as past ones in terms of %. Yes, you might be right percentage wise things wouldn't be the same as before because for bitcoin to rise by 800% in less than a year is incredible and i don't think it will again easily even though there is a general crave for bitcoins globally. Here's the article. http://themonetaryfuture.blogspot.se/2011/06/bitcoin-is-economic-singularity.htmlThe OP was named Atlas and was banned from the forum a long time ago due to too much trolling, The name disappeared at the same time and was replaced with Anonymous.

Appeal to Moderation
I'm not going to quote user ruphej, but it is clear their postings are further cluttering up this thread, and causing frustration with "the locals".
I would like to call for an outright account ban / entire posting history nuked.
He's far worse than that jbear guy.
At least jbear tries hard. This ruphej person is just an assault on our brains, is a complete waste of time, and agitating.
I second that.
