I just got a message from a lady I know in Georgia USA. She knows I'm into bitcoin and sent me this message. (somewhat altered to protect the innocent).
(my name), what can you tell me about Bit Coin? I have 90,000 Venezuelan Bolivar roughly 10,000 us according to the exchange converter online... that I want to convert to Bitcoin... then use that account to pay for things in US dollars... Can you tell me how to go about that?
Any advice from any Americans here? I told here I do all my buying and selling in Sweden and have no idea how to do that in Georgia. I did tell here to download Coinomi and to read up on the net and told here about localbitcoins (and the risk it involves).

I pumped Dogecoin, and it followed a historical TA pattern
I think dogecoin is successful for the fact that it creates laughter in the investor I told a friend about dogecoin and he said why is it called that. I said after dogs, for real, and he cracked up for a bit. I think that's a bit discriminating against Kittehcoin. https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/kittehcoin/

Why, and what makes that fork different then all the other forks thats forking just around now. I did not know there were that many forks, wow! Where does one trade all these new coins lol? Well, Bitcoin Atom, Bitcoin Diamond, Bitcoin God (not a typo) and SW2X are all forking around now, and I'm sure others can fill in with some more..

Bitcoin Cash taking a hammering in run up to the fork. Let’s all be wary of a snap back immediately post fork.
Why is everybody so focused on that particular fork? It has replay protection and I don't see how it is different to any of the other forks that's coming up. Bitcoin Atom for example has already forked and will be supported by Coinomi. https://medium.com/@coinomi/coinomi-announces-support-for-bitcoin-atom-bca-bf666e1d5e7fLet's hope the other forks will too, it's so easy to claim your coins in the Coinomi wallet.

Jimbo, block a few of the nastier KBs or it really is just 10 with a 7 skin on it
For sure. I was planning on replacing the HDD with a new SSD before even booting it up the first time, then being really careful during installation. As I said before, I don't trust anything from any American company in this age of Prism. If Win7 becomes unusable, I'll switch to Linux in a heartbeat. Phuque the NSA. If it has legacy BIOS and I can install from my TheThingy DVD, I'll avoid the HP/MS DVD completely. I'll still have a legal Win7 license. MS is stopping support for Win7 updates so I see no need to do any updates, so I'll just turn them off. After all, I'm just planning on using it as a "throwaway" system anyway... nothing important, confidential, nor sensitive. Maybe these laptops are to your liking? https://puri.sm

How about we all hit the "report" button next time Jebreher and Peter R posts something? If enough people do it we might get them permabanned from this thread.

I can't get angry with old Jimbo. He's had a tough life.
Tough life? Hardly. Job-free since 1976, spent most of my adult life partying, debt-free for over 20 years, enjoying relatively good health because of stress avoidance, lots of good friends and thousands of acquaintances (many who are considerably younger than me), and now a nice fat retirement fund thanks to Bitcoin. I can't complain. Music also helps to keep us young. See the incredible age managed by famous conductors, often still in full activity. Is it enough to listen to music? I'm so tone deaf that I was excused from (some) music classes in high school. Btw was this song ever a international hit? or was it just in Sweden? Always wondered. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdxCJaPLLE0

I would also like to bump my questions posted some 10 hours ago or something.
If you GPU mine, does it matter if your computer is connected to your browser via wifi or cable?
And does anyone know anything about the OS called PureOS. Are there any issues with that OS that you know of?
Cable is always the best choice but, if you are mining to a pool and your wifi is stable probably there will be no significant difference. I was mining for some time with an antminer S3 I added an antenna over wifi and it worked well. There is very little traffic if you are pool mining and a few ms of additional latency are not that important. Running a full node would be a much different matter. Never used PureOS. I usually prefer vanilla debian or any other widely used distribution so that any new vulnerabilities are published/patched soon enough. Thank you, I will be pool mining and I'm going to do it for fun, not for profits. I only have one cable slot on my router and would prefer to use that for my everyday computer so I will give the wifi a try.

When I can't use Win7 any more, I guess I'll have to choose a Linux distro.
yep, planning that migration already and my list of blocked win7 updates is as long as your arm...sad So was mine. But unfortunately my HD crashed and I had to get a new computer fast, and all that was available was computers with Windows 10 preinstalled. I decided to give it a go and I'm regretting it already. You can't disable updates, and I have that weird felling of being spied on all the time, and every now and then the hard drive on C starts for no reason. It changes your settings with every update and it puts back things that you removed. So I therefore decided to put a new HD in my old computer and now I'm looking for a OS to put on it, that's why I'm asking about PureOS. It seems to be very secure and user friendly, but I would like to here the opinion of someone with actual experience. The new Windows 10 computer will be used for GPU mining only, let them spy on that if it amuses them.

I'd say a cable can't hurt. It really depends on the bandwidth required. Not sure GPU mining can actually manage without a solid ethernet cable. A full (non mining) bitcoin node would at least choke a bit on wifi. For authoritative answers, you'd better wait for one of our miners to chime in. Thank you for your input.

Won't load in chrome but loaded in Firefox...
Trezor trouble shooter screen wont load for me in IE 11 ever! I can't believe any Bitcoiner would use some sleazy corporate browser like Chrome or IE when there's an honest open-source option in Firefox. I use Opera and I'm quite happy with it.

Is there still a chance bitcoin breaks ath before the new year? Is CME, CBOE and other old financial company traders trying to kill bitcoin's growth slowly?
Perhaps 38.6317928%-ish? hahahahaha.... more conservative charlie from me? JJG, are you on drugs during the holidays? Or just drunk? I puzzle why you assert such? My behavior is not inconsistent with prior behavior. I did get a chance to catch up on the thread, and further is my estimated odds for a new pre- New Year ATH out of wack? truly puzzled, I am. Not inconsistent, just elevated and accelerated and hyper. Perhaps, overly excited because so far this BTC "crash" has not really gone beyond a 43% correction, which was $11,160 on Bitstamp. Surely, UP is not inevitable, but BTC seems to be quite poised for the new year, and we are still 3-4x beyond my most bullish expectations in this same time-frame. Anyone else a BTC HODLer and accumulator in this thread, beyond me? I would think that this thread has lots of folks in really decent BTC positions, and maybe they are remaining silent regarding their excitement - because in the past several days, we have also seen a lot of trolling and bcash shilling going on in this thread too, right? I'm a hodler since 2013, but I'm also a north European, and we do not go around and show feelings, to us that is a private matter. You I guess are some kind of south European/south American or some kind of derivation thereof. And your kind are known to not being able to control and contain your feelings, much like a child. Haaahahahah What a bunch of bullshit. Maybe you don't know how to read tone or context? Or perhaps you just want to stir shit and engage in irrelevant attempts at psycho-analysis? Merely because someone in this thread or otherwise shows indications of emotions or s/he types with a certain amount of flare or emphasis, upon certain words or appearance of emotion does not necessarily indicate that s/he is either writing out of emotion or has lost control of his/her emotions. Get a fucking clue.... you presumptuous nincompoop! Maybe my writings was a little too strong, I meant nothing bad by it, I still think the stereotypes are true though. Anyway, have a good Christmas and new year..... you annoying nincompoop. Hahahahahaha,, I hit refresh on this page, and I was mentally preparing to go into stronger attack mode, but since there seems to be a bit of humor and goodwill thrown in, here, I will refrain myself from such seeming non necessities. And, Cheerio to you too. Don't drink too much egg nog, or whatever it is that you drink in your parts to warm the belly and keep off the chill. Regarding BTC prices... Nice little $1,000 boost in the past 60 minutes - ish. I am thinking that when we get to $19,666 this next time, I will have about 2-3% more BTC than I had the last time that we were there - but I am still a bit unclear because my record keeping does not seem to be good at projecting, exactly. We had a 43% drop, and I know some people are able to make out better with those kinds of price drops, but my trading and portfolio preservation style seems too conservative, and I end up being happy with making a mere 2-3%-ish from such a drop... We will see, but currently, i am merely projecting about a 2-3% increase in my BTC portfolio size by the time we reach that $19,666 price, assuming that we reach it soon. 1 to 4 weeks, perhaps? actually, we drink hot glögg, you should try it, its really good on a cold dark winters day. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glögi that article for some reason concentrates on the Finnish version (and spelling) but it can be generalized to the rest of the Nordic countries as well.
